Port Sa’id New York Reviews from The Last Year

Big fan of this place that is quickly becoming a rotational fav. I've been coming here since they opened last year and have made it a point to enjoy many a midday lunch, plus after work drinks in their vinyl forward side bar, and now dinners. Everything is delicious. I will say BRING BACK THE SAC DE COQ! It's my favorite salad with rotisserie chicken and heard it's no more. Sad Alicia showed up on Thursday once I heard that. I loved it! But there are so many other great dishes, tho, the fish shawarma in its place doesn't hold a candle to it. Love the burnt potato, lamb kebab, hummus from the gods, and those cucumbers with the EVOO and sea salt flakes are the perfect to the dips. So many good choices! I love it here! The ambiance with the DJs is super fun too. One other critique, the wine pours in the super bulby glasses look like you're only getting a tasting size portion - not the best... But I'll be back. Also, bring back lunch!

If you are only in NYC for the weekend you have to stop here. The food was next level. The drinks were unique. The desserts were transcendent. And the ambience was delightful. The only fault I could report is that the tables are small and close together. But this is on par for NYC. I have recommended this location to 3 different groups of friends and they all echoed my same experience: "they loved every second and would definitely come back!

A Tel-Aviv favorite found its way to New York City and makes me remember Saturday nights in jam packed Port Sa'id trying to find a table... The NY port Said is a bit more of a party scene with a DJ in the evenings - or at least on a Wednesday evening. I stopped by with a couple of people and I wanted them to experience the modern twist on middle eastern food. Absolute yes: fish shawarma, full lubina, eggplant with cheese, malabi Softer yes: the potato, ricotta pepper toast, hummus, tiramisu Not recommended: beet carpaccio, NY steak strips, Basque cheesecake Overall, I love the Tel Aviv port said more... but this will do. I will say this is NOT the place if you want to catch up with someone - it is pretty loud with the DJ!

Lively atmosphere and good music, but for a restaurant that markets itself as Mediterranean, Port Sa'id had some of the most bland, tasteless food I have ever come across. It's as if they have never even been to that part of the world! The kebab tasted like someone who had never had one was trying to guess what a real kebab tastes like. It might convince someone who's never actually had good kebab but it was very disappointing. And to be served white bread is near blasphemy. I would save my money and go to much more authentic places that cater to crowds that know the difference.
AMAZING EXPERIENCE
From the moment you walk in, you are transported to Israel, the ambiance, the smells, it’s truly magical. Drinks are delicious, my favorites are their espresso martini and the arac mojito. The bread salad and humus are a MUST! Service is spectacular, shoutout to Juan Esteban for always being so accommodating!

What a wonderful meal and a great experience! Port Sa'id
What a wonderful meal and a great experience! Port Sa'id has been on my list for a while and finally got there. So glad that I did. The food fully expresses the flavors of the eastern Mediterranean. The food, cocktails and service were excellent. Will be back (soon)!

Food is DELICIOUS!!! Especially if you like plant/veggie forward dishes. I can't believe how inventive and delicious they are. A little pricey though beware! The vibe is pretty loud and lively with a DJ. Lots of tables and many big group parties. Large bar area. The restaurant is huge but you still need a res these days to get in but i imagine that's just due to its recent opening. Unfortunately, the location is a little dead but if you go up Hudson past Houston (3-4 blocks) you can find some bars to sit at before/after

Pros: Nice ambience, good DJ/live music, not overdone decor, fairly mature crowd on the weekend, small dog friendly, attentive wait staff, service was fast and efficient and as such good for larger groups, on the day of noticed quite a few 5+ people tables being served. Cons: Oddball location, very homogenous crowd, food was average at best. For an Israeli/Mediterranean place to not have pita/lafa/khabboos type bread (we were served white bread) is blasphemy imho. Also no olive oil anywhere to be found. So Port Sa'id promised much more than it delivered for me. I like Mediterranean or any ethnic establishment to be unapologetically themselves versus the watered down catering to Anglo Saxon tastes we often find these type of establishment finding themselves in this identity crisis. Ex. Make hummus more punchy, get the olive oil on the table, be generous, hit me in the face with that zaatar, make the food as in your face, vibrant and punchy as the people of the region it represents etc. There might still be hope. I'd look forward to going back with a large group but probably not 1:1 or in a date environment, certainly the food wouldn't be the draw brining me back.

I wanted to like it here, I really did! But OMG the service is garbage. Very pretentious, self important staff (hostess, bartender). NYC has too many good restaurants to settle for mediocre service.

Ben and the host team sparked my date experience right from the start. I have only been to Port Sa'id once before but last night was exceptional. The staff, the flavor in the wine and food, and the music was something I need in my life. Therefore, I will be back! Thank-you for creating the vibrate platform for a date to remember. Much love.
It was literally flimsy dips vegetables with sour cream.
How can u try to be Mediterranean without giving pita...
This place is an absolute PARTY when it gets late.
Port Sa'id is an Israeli restaurant from Eyal Shani and if you've been to his restaurants, you sort of know what you're getting into. The menu is written humorously with jokes and quips but the food is fairly standard and simple. Expect lots of parsley and lemon. The favorite thing I ordered was probably the lubina chrome (served with a burning herb). What surprised us was when the servers started wheeling and dealing free shots for the various diners. The restaurant features a DJ spinning tunes and at one point, some diners elected to start dancing on their chairs. It's a fun spot. While I wouldn't recommend this spot if you're looking for some calm, I think this is a great choice before a night out.
We grabbed an early reso prior to a performance downtown.
By the time we left, the place was abuzz with great music, a cool vibe, and great service. We started off with a couple of cocktails which were unique and quite refreshing. Our server, Romi, gave us suggestions and they were spot on. The hummus was some of the best we've ever had. Creamy with warm whole chickpeas on top along with some spice which all melted in our mouths. Great consistency with some fresh challah to clean the plate. The burning potato was a nice combo of smashed spuds along with creme fraiche and shaved horseradish. Really rich and smooth! The Spanish Mackerel was sitting in a sauce of tomato seeds and spices. The remaining challah was a nice sponge to soak up every bit of it. We topped off the meal with their cheesecake...nothing ordinary at all. It was creamy, buttery and unique in it's own way. Stellar experience!
This was the first time I tried Israeli cuisine and I
This was the first time I tried Israeli cuisine and I absolutely loved it!! My friend and I just walked in on a Saturday evening for early dinner and we got lucky to get in without reservations. This place offers small plates and has a lot of options to select from. We ordered 4 Spicy instruments (our fav. Dish!), charred beetroot carpaccio, hummus, and Avocado Bruschetta. Everything was so so good, I am still dreaming about it. My least favorite dish was the beetroot one only because the beetroot's sweetness was very overpowering. The Spicy Instruments was really spicy, but we just couldn't stop eating it. The hummus was very fresh. We noticed that Israeli cuisine does not have a lot of pita breads but rather they serve most dishes with sourdough bread (which was again very fresh!) We also ordered an espresso and Mint Tea along with our meal and it was just perfect. Port Sa'id is a place where the flavors of the Mediterranean live in harmony with rich sounds from around the world. Do not miss out their huge vinyl record collection. They have amazing DJs play almost every evening and they even update their menu to share the details of the DJ who will be playing that particular night. I think that's an amazing touch and I haven't seen a lot of places do that. I will recommend Port Sa'id 100% for their hospitality, food, good vibes, and good music!
If you've been to hasalon you'd love it here.
A more chill vibe but same great food and better prices. Came here for jazz brunch with a friend. We had the best time ever!! Really delicious options although not the classic brunch you're expecting. Think more along the lines of dips and spreads with sides of veg and meat dishes. We got the hummus which was out of this world. So clean and fresh tasting and so so creamy. Doesn't leave you feeling heavy. Definitely the best hummus I've had outside of Israel. The 4 spicy dips (i think it's called) were also delicious but honestly not spicy coming from a Sephardi so if you do want spice I'd skip it. The challah it comes with though and the addition of yogurt makes it the perfect dip. Also definitely must do the beets it was my favorite part of the meal besides the hummus. Beautiful beautiful presentation and perfectly seasoned. Honestly everything was just a tiny bit of salt here and olive oil there and it was just magical what you can do with quality ingredients. We also tried the avocado bruschetta which was also really good because the bread itself is insane but next time I'd skip because it's just really on piece. Sweet potatoes also are a must. Can't go wrong with anything here really. Drinks are good, servers are awesome, food is delicious, and atmosphere is unique. Always a good time!! Definitely will be back and try dinner next time!

We were craving a visit for this place and we finally had a chance to give it a try on a Wednesday lunch time We walked in around 12 and the place was pretty empty - we ordered the hummus sa'id which was not great (a bit bland ) and the chicken liver which was exceptional . The lever dish arrived on a bed of green onion , potatos and tahini and was large and yummy - highly recommended Service was great and we can tell that the evenings in this place is probably a blast - they had a gigantic DJ stand ready to go! We will come back again to try more dishes !
Really good food and amazing atmosphere.
There was a live dj playing some great stuff, and the place was full of energy even though it was a random weekday night. Would definitely recommend making a reservation given how busy they seem to always be!

Trendy Israeli spot known for live DJ sets and massive speaker towers. Looked like it was impossible to snag a reservation. I walked in on a Friday night and it was already lively but they had plenty of bar seats provided I removed myself by 7pm. Menu items and their descriptions are eccentric, execution varies. Mackerel and basque cheesecake were excellent.

Food was good, not as good as in Tel Aviv The calamity was excellent, the chrime fish was good, the tahini with the fish was better if was on the side. A bit pricey but fun place with great music
Nice vibey restaurant with a beautifully decorated interior
Nice vibey restaurant with a beautifully decorated interior in Tribeca. We were seated promptly for our reservation and the waitress was very nice. The major item we did not care for was how fast they served our dinner. The waitress took our order and immediately started bringing out dishes from the kitchen. We ordered a bread, two appetizers, and two entrees. Probably all came out within 10-15 minutes. No staging of the courses at all. On top of that, there were these hawking bus boys just consistently attempting to take plates away, even with food still on it. Ordered the following: 4 spicy instruments - excellent. You can mix breads to get sourdough or challah, but I really recommend the sourdough. The challah wasn't that great. Holland leeks - favorite thing we tried. Pretty small as it was just a single leek. Great flavor, texture Mackerel - salty on the skin side. Alone it would be a lot, but it balanced out the cold tomato sauce it was served with, which was pretty sweet Calamari - very good but nothing special. Definitely fresh Eggplant steak - did not care for this. Also was presented cold. Basically just a cold roasted eggplant with a hard boiled spiraled egg on the side. Sauce was strange. Would not recommend... unless maybe at brunch?? Overall decent but I think they need to work on pacing/service and balancing out menu items. Been to other locations within restaurant group which are better

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice
Was able to snag an indoor table at Don Angie through an absolutely seamless worry-free process.
Worked perfectly, thank you!
This is a crazy holiday season in NYC and I was very pleasantly surprised to see that AppointmentTrader works! Will be using again!
Worked flawlessly!
Worked so well! I was a bit nervous, but everything went very smoothly. purchased the reservation, and got into the restaurant seamlessly.
Love this app!
So glad I came across this app :)
Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here
Prime time, great meal
So easy and had a prime time which I can never seem to get on normal res apps. So worth it
Got impossible NYC res
instead of waiting weeks I got my 4 charles reservation instantly
Worked perfectly to get into Carbone. So delighted
perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??
Tune into NBC News - Top Story Tonight 7:40p ET
Let’s go. Get more people placing bids!
I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
