Plah is divided in two parts; while the restaurant serves contemporary Thai food, the bar/café serves Thai "street-food". We had our meal at the bar/café, ordered a couple delicious dishes, and enjoyed the calm and sunny atmosphere.Every dish had each their distinct impression and were clearly inspired by selected Thai flavors. While having been in Thailand before, I won't pretend to be an expert on Thai cuisine but we experienced it all as inspired by authentic Thai food. I highly recommend the banh bao, grilled curry shrimps, and chicken satay. At the end of the meal we ordered an extra serving of roti just so we could scoop up the rest of the tasty sauces.Kudos to the chef! The service was great. We asked for slightly milder on the chili and got just as ordered. While the prices are somewhat high, I would definitely recommend Plah to anyone looking for some authentic Thai-inspired dining.

Such vibrant, thoughtful, inspiring and fresh food! Simply AMAZING! The staff are knowledgeable, friendly and clearly take pride in their work. The wines we were served also paired perfectly with the dishes.I have no idea why I put off going to Plah for so long - you shouldn't put it off, either (just go already!).

Went here for an anniversary dinner with my partner and had been quite late to get a booking so had to sit at the bar. Was a bit skeptical that we wouldn't be able to have a conversation and it may be cramped. It wasn't.We had a fantastic Swedish waitress at the bar that was both attentive, amusing and interesting to talk to, but not to the point that it was intrusive, we still felt like we were spending time together. The waitress knew her drinks and could recommend and speak about the food with authority and help match to our tastes, as one of us does not eat seafood. The food, cocktails and wine were also amazing. It was a pricey dinner, even for Norway, but it is known as that type of place. Asian fusion is the best to call it, and the service was excellent. I would like to go again and not sit at the bar, but now that I had such a sociable experience doing that, we might find sitting at a table by ourselves a bit boring.Definitely want to go back. It's a special occasion type of place.

This place is one of my favorite restaurants in Oslo, this restaurant has it all, a chillout lounge a bar (with street food) and a fancy restaurant. The food ... OMG it's modern Thai and it works in so many levels. If you like spicy food and want to try something diffrent GO HERE. I can promise you a good food experience.
Be the first to ReplyOverpriced and bland.
The food here lacks spice, flavour and choice. The menu is very limited; two noodle dishes, two curries, a couple of stir fries and a few sides and starters. You could make a better curry at home with instant curry paste and a can of coconut milk. And you would save 245 NOK, too. Two mains, a side, a beer and a soft drink cost 680 NOK which is outrageous for such bad food. The restaurant space is about as cozy as Subway. One extra star for their homemade range of condiments and treats.Go to Tasty Thai in Bislett for proper Thai food.

Not inexpensive, but food and service were both great. A fancy sit down place. The 9 course dinner looked intriguing.
Be the first to ReplyNice ambiance, but very mediocre food.
B-l-a-n-d. Defs not the "Thai street food" I was excited for, and even considered independent of that title I'd still say very mediocre.

We had high hopes for this restaurant as we had received a few good tips. However we found it to be extremely over rated. The restaurant was nice, cosy and friendly. The staff were smiling and very professional. Unfortunately we had a waiter who was very new (had been there one month). Although he was really trying and was very polite, he really had no idea what he was doing. I felt a little sorry for him. He didn't know what was in any of the dishes or what they tasted like. But to be honest this is not good enough since this really should be basic training. The most negative was the menu. They only had 3 main dishes for meat and 3 for fish. Extremely low selection options. They did have a 5 course or an 8 course combo, with wine in addition to each course. But at 900kr and 1000kr a pop, per person, was too much in my opinion. When the food arrived we were both disappointed. The portion size was reasonable but extremely bland. I tried my wife's dish and I have to say it was probably the worse dish I've had at a restaurant. I had order lamb and instead I got duck, which was really dry. It was like eating a 2 day old chicken leg. Really really poor. We will not go back.

Difficult to find, at least for the Oslo taxi drivers (I've had at least two drivers who had never heard of the restaurant, nor could they find the address). Still, the place is very popular, and a reservation is recommended.Plah is modern style, Norwegian Thai food at its best, even though its best has probably past the BBD.Choose between à la carte (starters 105-145 NOK, mail courses 235-275 NOK), or opt for a 5 or 8 course tasting menu (495/545 NOK). A third option is to try some of the Thai style "tapas", or Street Food as they are called here, priced around 50-70 NOK per serving. The menu is constantly changing, as it should be, but it is unfortunate that the "signature dish" (in my book), Svineskank (knuckle of pork), has been deleted from the menu. Oysters Naturel, "Hoi Nang Rom" is good, but just plain lemon works better with oysters than sweet chili sauce. Why complicate a winning concept? The pork neck, or svinenakke (as a poor substitute for svineskank), is decent, but not extraordinary. All in all, good food, but not the best Asian in Scandinavia, or probably not even in town, and the price - 595 NOK/81 EUR, plus tip for starter and main, including two glasses of wine - is, as pretty much everything in Oslo, nothing less than outrageous.
Be the first to ReplyHigh class Thai food and "value for money" prices.
Highly recommended! Go for the 8-course for a great evening.
