3-4 Stars, my birthday today.
My bf and I try this Michelin restaurant to celebrate our birthdays this week. We served it a month ahead, but only got a side table when we arrived . We brought our special birthday cake, but $75 service fee requested here. We ordered the appetizer snail with bone marrow, rich flavor tasting. Lucky we, the canard a la presse is available even though we didn't pre order this set. Not into the breast, but the duck pudding is good. Really enjoy the red and white wine water recommended. My favorite dish is the last chocolate soufflé, soooo tasty. PS: No sitting paper in the restroom~~ lol
Be the first to ReplyI went this past Sunday night.
Paid $300 for dinner for two and woke up at 4AM with food poisoning. I suspect it was the tartare because my date also felt nauseous in the morning. The service was good. Very friendly and attentive. The wine was good, but the short rib was just average.

Loved everything we tried on the menu, the wine pairings were divine as well. I'd say this establishment is one of my top 5 favorite restaurants in LA! 10/10
Be the first to ReplyExcellent service and authentic French food.
French food is all about the sauces and this restaurant has all the delicious sauces. We will be back for the duck when we are back in this neighborhood. The duck sauce demo by head chef was great!

Food extremely rich--made my stomach very upset, and this does not normally happen to me - ever. The short rib was very fatty and paired with a little pot of puréed potatoes that were 50% butter and 50% potato. Started with savory puffed pasterie with gruyere cheese, and steak tar tar. Both were kind of flavorless, and two hours later--tummy no bueno. The atmosphere is nice and the service is pretty good. The prices are extremely high. The only steak on the menu was $130. The short rib was over $80, not a large dish, fatty with few vegetables. Wines by the glass were $21-34 each. Not worth it. But if the prices were to come down, more veggies added, and food less rich--would be much improved.
Be the first to ReplyTerrible! This restaurant has really gone down the drain.
No wonder they lost their Michelin star. They don't even have the duck press presentation anymore and they use the "covid" excuse. It's 2024! What Covid?? Manager is rude as well which is telling of why the staff feel they can get away with being rude too. The food was average and has really gone down in quality since they first opened. Do not recommend. Many better French restaurants to spend your money.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing.
My girlfriend and I came here to celebrate a couple of career milestones. Ambience was fine, with the inside decor as if a fixed-gear bike shop decided it were now the bar at a major metropolitan hotel. We were seated in the secret garden, which was well-lit and cozy, but nothing remarkable. Servers seemed equal parts knowledgeable and miserable. I'm not the sort of person who demands the rictus grins of waiters to be part of a good meal, but it felt like they all hated their jobs (which says more about the management than anything else). Food was the biggest let down. The foie de poulet à la Strasbourgeoise (supposedly an Escoffier recipe) hewed close to the original in appearance. However, although the foie de poulet did have a good, smooth texture, this was ruined by the quality of the brioche, which was heavy and tasted slightly stale. The flétan (halibut) was a fine contrast between savory crispy skin and delicate flesh, but my girlfriend's tarte aux oignons was in her words, "inedible" due to a heavy-handed application of salt. The pain perdu was tasty -- perhaps this was where brioche intended for the Strasbourgeoise was lost? Overall, the impression we were given was of inconsistency or of unseen exigencies at play (and this was on a Sunday night). Even though this was Santa Monica, this would have been fine for a meal of perhaps a hundred or so dollars but definitely not for how much it actually was.
Be the first to ReplyFood is great here but overpriced.
Ambiance is good. Drinks are expensive. Worth to try once.
Be the first to ReplyThis is a very swanky French restaurant in Santa Monica
This is a very swanky French restaurant in Santa Monica which is great for a special occasion. Things to consider: the outdoor area is very casual compared to the interior. I would think twice about reserving a table here especially given the price point. At the end of our meal, a cockroach climbed up the tree next to us which is not what you want to see when you're paying the prices you're paying. While our server was top notch, even he didn't have words for this except to say he was sorry. I probably would have bought us dessert or taken something off the bill. (Note: They did not offer any compensation.) Things to know: the food is wonderful as is their wine list . The service is 5 stars all around from the host to the runners and the bussers - they were all great! Food: The best things we ordered were the salade d'endives and the tartare. Chefs kiss for both of these. On the contrary, the halibut was a pass for us, but I can see why someone would feel otherwise. All things considered, it was a nice experience at Pasjouli.

I had high hopes, considering they used to have a Michelin star, unfortunately, my experience was not great. I was with my wife and a couple of dinner companions, and we all left underwhelmed. First of all, the prices are obscene. The least expensive cocktail is $22. Maybe Santa Monica rents are incredibly high, but one has to feel you're getting a value for what you're paying no matter the price point or type of cuisine. Unfortunately, nothing that we had lived up to the price point. The food reminded me of a restaurant in a decent hotel: boring and unadventurous. Not bad, but certainly not approaching anything close to greatness. I had the short ribs and it was nothing unique or interesting at all and it was $68. I actually make more satisfying short ribs at home. There was nothing that made it stand out from the dozens of short ribs I've had over the years. In fact, the server kept talking about how it was a 12 hour braise, but I found it to be surprisingly dry. The best dish, we all agreed, was the onion tart for $25. Again those prices - $25 for a tart? And the salads were at least $22. A small plate full of lettuce, dressing and some accoutrement for $22. Well, if I'm getting raked over the coals on pricing and getting less interesting food than I expected, I would at least hope that the service was on par with a Michelin star restaurant. Unfortunately, they failed on that mark as well. Our server didn't know anything about the wines by the glass. I understand not knowing about all of the bottled wines on a list, but a server should have a basic knowledge of wines by the glass. I also had to ask for water several times, no one folded our napkins when we got up to use the restroom, and I had to ask somebody besides my server for the check. There were multiple servers, runners, managers, and hosts wandering around the floor, and nobody seem to pay attention to any of these small, yet important steps of service and service details. If you don't fold a napkin at a table, you're just not paying attention. There are too many other restaurants in LA to explore, so I will not be coming back here. I understand that a restaurant is not going to knock it out of the park every single time, but I do expect a certain level of competence and value for my time and money. I did not experience that here.

We had a grand and beautiful dinner at Pasjoli in Santa Monica. The plating is just out of this world. The service is friendly and chatty, and I love the whimsical flower murals. Our dinner:- Foie de poulet à la Strasbourgeoise (Escoffier 3495)- Tête de cochon- Mille-feuille aux oignons- Côte de boeuf braiséeMany members of the staff commented that the braised beef is their favorite dish on the menu. We'd have to agree.I hope to return one day for the duck for two!
Be the first to ReplyWhat a terrific dinner this evening.
My wife and I split the pressed duck (canard à la Rouennaise à la presse) which is worth the trip...we flew in from Vancouver. Meal comes out as one course which is actually great. You have some duck with pudding, a bite of salad, the cold duck with the salad very different taste than the warm duck. Bottle of red burgundy pairs well. Met Chef Beran, great individual, passionate about his cooking! Seek this place out. Tip, when making reservation request seating in dining area with view of kitchen.
Be the first to ReplyI must say that any restaurant that charges as much as this
I must say that any restaurant that charges as much as this place does is simply a parasite on society. No food is worth the money they exact from their customers. Also the two small $20 desserts I tasted were of low quality. Their lemon tart was barely edible, and the choux pastry used for their profiteroles seemed to be quite stale. If it wasn't old, it reflected poorly on the abilities of the chef--very tough. As its name says, not pretty.

Be the first to ReplyWe decided to try Pasjoli back in October for our 1 year
We decided to try Pasjoli back in October for our 1 year anniversary. We splurged a little and ordered the $198 duck dinner for 2, which used all parts of the duck in 3 separate courses. Our favorite was definitely the pressed duck, and the sauce was the star. We liked that they included some greens for us to help balance the richness of all the other flavors. We also opted to add the foie de poulet that they are known for, which was so creamy. While expensive, you definitely get a lot of food and we were so full by the end of our meal. The restaurant itself has a warm and cozy atmosphere, and our service was exceptional. Our waiter explained every dish to us in detail and was very friendly and attentive. Still wish they kept the table side presentation with the antique duck press. I hope they consider bringing it back as it would have made for a complete experience!
Be the first to ReplyAn amazing Valentine's Day meal.
We got a couple appetizers--the scallops with fried leeks and a potato... thing in the middle that was the best scallops I've ever had. They were bay scallops so they were a bit smaller but so lovely--not a bit of rubbery texture.I've never had chicken liver before, but foie de poulet seemed like an excellent way to try it for the first time. It was smooth and deeply flavorful. So rich! For our mains we got the shortrib, which was so tender it basically fell apart once you touched it with a fork. And, the potato side that it came with had 27 layers. The waiter said it's like "the fanciest French fry." Ha!And the sturgeon was unlike any whitefish I've had. So dense and rich. The sauce was exquisite and the black truffles gave it a lot of flair Had the soufflé for dessert. I have a hazelnut allergy so I requested they leave it off, and the chef recommended cacao nibs instead, which was a great recommendation. I've never had a chef come up with a substitution for my allergy before, and it was so kind. And the service was excellent. Our server was very knowledgeable but not at all snobby, sharing anecdotes about the food as well as some interesting tidbits about the history/culture of the restaurant and the cuisine. If you're looking to spend some cash on a great meal, every dollar you spend at Pasjoli is worth it.

Food was just average, service poor, they put us in their patio which had a lot dead plants. No near by parking. Save your money!
Be the first to ReplyGreat duck.
Servers were inexperienced and it felt like a fast food joint. It was a $750 meal for 3 people. Even when asked, they rammed the food out very quickly and did not course properly. It was not able to be enjoyed without feeling rushed and it becoming cold. What a shame. Food was excellent.
Be the first to ReplyAn exceptional elevated epicurean experience.
You may find yourself saying Pasjoli "Not Pretty" as you look at your bill at the end of the night, but there's no reason to think about money the night you plan to eat here.Definitely delight yourself by starting with the fresh baked baguette and whipped butter. We also enjoyed the Onion Mille Feuille which we took to be a transmutation of French Onion soup into solid form. For our mains we enjoyed the seabass and bad ass beef short rib with a rectangular cube potato pavé which is essentially a divine potato croissant. The endive served alongside is the perfect bitter to cut through the rest of that rich dish. For dessert chocolate soufflé and vanilla ice cream! Order the soufflé ahead as it takes 20 minutes to be prepared. The bar of French liquors looks exquisite. We are that entire dinner sitting at the bar and had pleasant conversation with the barkeep. The atmosphere is casual for such fine food.

Quaint little spot on Main Street, I'm grateful that I've finally been able to try the master pieces of Chef Beran. Interesting side story: Chef Beran spent more than 10 years as the sous chef of the renowned Chef Grant Achatz, where he spent half of his time at Alinea (3-star Michelin) and half at Next in Chicago. After Chef Achatz got tongue cancer and lost his sense of taste, he relied on Beran and his two other members to help him run the kitchen. Together, they created innovative dishes that earned them their 3rd Michelin star. Beran, now an independent chef, opened Dialogue in Santa Monica, and now Pasjolie.I had the privilege of coming here with my company, so fortunately was able to try many items on the menu: Demi baguette - wonderfully warm bread, but butter was a bit salty for my tasteFoie de Poulet a la Strasbourgeoise - this was a very special and unique dish. I'm not usually a fan of liver, but it was a playful balance of sweet and savory. A must try at the restaurant!Hamachi et pamplemousse - a tasteful balance of bitter and the fish, paired with an accompanying sauce that enhanced the flavor even more so. Crunchy and satisfying. Tartar de boeuf - likely my least favorite on the menu, as it was way too salty. A slightly less salt would've made this a nice dish, in my opinion.Canard a la Rouennaise a la Presse - duck at Pasjolie was the crème de la crème. The texture of the duck to the flavors to the sauce and the wine we paired it with, excellent! Wish we had more of it!Cote de boeuf braisee - also a renowned dish. Tender meat with accompanying sauce, and the potato gave me a "Ratatouille" moment in the movie!Loup de mer et fenouil - a sea bass is a sea bass, no matter where you go. Yes, it was good, but it wasn't extraordinary. Gratin dauphinois - complementing to the dishes that we've have. Satisfying cheesy flavors, great balance of savory and crunchy breadcrumbs as toppings. Excellent!Pot de Creme - chocolate mousse, good but again, not out of the ordinary Riz au lait - a MUST GET dessert. I've never liked rice pudding (actually quite despise it) but THIS was "wow"-ing. Don't like rice pudding? Get it anyway!I also give kudos to our amazing waiter who did a fantastic job in giving our large group a wonderful experience. He was so knowledgeable of the restaurant, and its ingredients, to the back stories of the chef, that it truly brought the experience to life. Their staff is incredibly detailed and truly put customer service first.Add Pasjolie to your list. Check it out yourself :)

First Michelin star :)) me any my friends were all very happy with the experience. My friend and I shared the duck for 2 which came with the roasted duck breast, a salad with crispy duck skin and duck leg bread pudding. The duck breast was tender and the sauce was so rich and flavourful. The salad was a perfect balance to the heavier main, light and refreshing with a nice crunch and pop of flavour from the duck skin. The duck bread pudding was by far the favourite! The bread is soft and soaked in a rich sauce (perfect balance of salty, sweet and a bit tangy). The duck leg melts in your mouth and is complimented by the same savoury sauce. The meal was a great portion! We also tried some of our other friends dishes (halibut, trout) , they were all amazing! Really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. We also decided to go for dessert and got both the melon et blancmange and chocolate soufflé to share. The melon et blancmange was the perfect refreshing way to finish the meal. The fresh juicy melon was a perfect compliment to the lemon custard underneath. The chocolate soufflé was rich with amazing fluffy texture.
Be the first to ReplyI have not been this sick from food poisoning in years.
I went this last weekend 7/30/22 for dinner. I ordered the trout and boy do I regret it. For 2 days I have had explosive diarrhea to the degree I had to call in sick to work. This place charges exorbitant prices for food that is bad to say the least. Save your money and please try somewhere else.

Service and food still excellent. New items I tried was the tomato with tuna tartare inside. So refreshing and the texture was fantastic.Chicken liver brioche is a must when you come here. I would cry if I could not have this.Gnocchi with scallops was also new for me. The taste was light and flavorful. The presentation was very pretty.Lastly our server was Clemence and she was our server the first time as well. Let me tell you, there is no server I have encountered that is nicer than she is. She was also very patient and answered my questions clearly. She also was nice to explain the bill and their tipping process.Pasjoli did not disappoint on my return visit.
