Disappointing Dining Experience at Pampín Bar
My wife and I decided to dine at Pampín Bar in Santiago, Spain, and unfortunately, it was a far cry from what we expected from a Michelin-rated establishment. From the moment I walked in, the ambiance felt more like stepping into someone’s kitchen than a distinguished restaurant. The decor lacked the sophistication and charm one would anticipate from such an acclaimed venue. To make matters worse, the menu was a letdown. Half of the items listed were unavailable, leaving limited options. The dishes that were available did little to impress. The pickled mussels, in particular, tasted no different from what one might find in a generic canned variety, hardly befitting of a Michelin recognition. The overall dining experience was underwhelming, leaving much to be desired. While I’m relieved that the final bill didn’t match the lofty prices often associated with Michelin-starred establishments, it’s disappointing to see a restaurant fall short of its accolades. Pampín Bar failed to deliver on its promise of exceptional cuisine and ambiance, making it a regrettable dining choice for those seeking a memorable culinary experience.

We ordered Brioche with anchovy, mushroom stew with partridge broth, steak tartare and 2 desserts. The food is very tasty, the cooking points in the case of the mushroom stew 🍄 is perfect for us and the texture and flavor of the steak tartare is one of the best we have tried. But everything has a "but": removing the anchovy, which is clearly one, the amount of mushrooms is ridiculous for the €18 cost of the dish. The steak is more of the same, just the right amount that fits in an angle grinder for €19. The desserts are on the same line as the food in terms of quality and flavor. We ordered a tarte de Santiago coulant that was spectacular, and in fact we repeated it, but the price is still high for what it is (€7). To top it off, 2 shots of pomace cream with ice for €5 each. In Galicia, shots are usually an invitation on the house and when this is not the case, they do not go up from €2...
A different restaurant
@pampinbar Let's start by commenting on the dessert, this Santiago tart turned into a coulant, which will not leave you indifferent. Everything else was at the same level. The soft anchovy, the scallop with its own coral sauce, exquisite, the croquettes very creamy and the mushrooms tasty and al dente, perhaps a little scarce. Dining in this restaurant has been like being inside a Galician grandmother's house, full of small details in its decoration so that you feel like it, and the façade that maintains the doors of yesteryear makes you think that you are entering one of those restaurants different and special. It is not too big, so it is usually full and works under reservation. We had à la carte dinner and it didn't reach €40 p.p, with wine and with little hunger that we were. I see the quality-price ratio accordingly.

Maltreated. The worst thing I've ever known
-I book online due to a good recommendation. -In the “suggestions” that the restaurant's website offers me, I expressly indicate that I want a large table, it is August 18, Santa Elena, and I want to surprise my wife. -I confirm the reservation the day before, they send me an email. -We arrive at the place, with large tables occupied and a very large table (for 8) that they have divided with flower pots and they try to place us there (3 different pairs with separating flower pots). -The person assisting us clearly reads my suggestion on the reservation tablet and makes a query but can be heard in the background: “impossible.” - I kindly tell you that we are leaving, that we had reserved on the condition of having a large table and they do not have the slightest will to resolve the mistreatment we have received. PS: You can read my contributions to this app to verify that I am not an apprentice eating in high-end restaurants. I do not recommend under any circumstances going to this one. I write this review from “abastos 2.0” highly recommended at 3:43 p.m. on August 18
Neither table nor tablecloth
We have simply felt ignored by the restaurant staff. With a reservation made under certain conditions, we have found an offer that was not the one requested. To make matters worse, they bother me with an email saying that I have not made my reservation. Never to return
It seems like they are doing you a favor by giving you a table.
We finally decided to go to the Pampin restaurant after seeing several comments saying that it was a nice place with good food. What a disappointment, the staff was very cold, we ordered zamburińas and they served us volandeiras We found out the difference the next day The sea bass was very good but served without any style, the dessert (coulant) was excellent, the only thing that was worth it. we will not return
