Oste Los Angeles Reviews from The Last Year
I had heard great things about Oste, but I had no idea how
I had heard great things about Oste, but I had no idea how good this place was until I visited it! I was lucky to get a table without a reservation, but I would recommend making reservations in advance to avoid any inconvenience. From the reception to paying the bill, everything was excellent! The staff was extremely friendly, and the food was super delicious, made with fresh ingredients, and offered at fair prices. My partner and I shared some dishes, including Burrata al pesto, Pappardelle Alla Vaccinara, Funghi pinsa, bread, and Butterscotch Bundino. I will definitely go back to try other dishes because it is worth it!
A hard no! 3 strikes.
Never again. The experience here is you are a commodity and nothing more. Another number, attempts to add on constantly, if they ask do you want bread constantly don't be surprised. Then they will ask what more you want and rush you out the door once you've ordered it so they get the $$$. There are much better places in the area. All around no.

We had the most wonderful meal at Oste and it wasn't our first. I should have written this sooner. It deserves praise and recognition for its great food, service and ambience. The owners deserve high praise as well for their warmth and professionalism. It's not surprising that the restaurant is generally packed with people clamoring to get in. It's a beautiful space with a nice outdoor patio. Jocelyn, the owner, is an excellent host and offered us drinks while we waited for our table. He's lovely. The food is excellent. I could point to a lot of dishes that were extremely good but I will only mention 2 (and a half). The prawns sautéed in oil and garlic are incredible. I hated having to share them. We have them every time we go and we've been there 4 times. The mushroom flat bread is incredible too and the bread they serve is delicious. It's the same as the bread used in the pizza crust and comes nice and warm. We had delicious pasta dishes last time as well and several great desserts including their rich and creamy budino. We love Oste so much that we went to their other two restaurants in San Francisco when we happened to be there the following week - Chez Maman West and Chez Maman East - both excellent as well. I highly recommend them when in SF. Go to Oste. Go to Chez Maman! You won't be disappointed.

Delicious, authentic and wonderful place to dine! The service is very friendly, ambiance can be both romantic and pleasant! Place is easy to find and food is great!
You will not be disappointed when you try Oste.
This by far has the best atmosphere and most delicious food. Trust me when I say it is so underrated and is even better than the most expensive and famous Italian restaurants I often went to in Beverly Hills before finding Oste. All the ingredients are so fresh and rich tasting. I honestly feel like I am being teleported to Italy whenever I come. Also some of my favorite parts about Oste is that it's guilt free, after reading about it on the website there process of creating the dough I learned that the dough is made up of high concentration of water and long cold fermentation, the process allows the dough to a natural rise, making our Pinsa extra light, low in fat, low calorie and easy to digest. Not to mention the service is the best, I have never had a bad service and the owner is very friendly and recognizes me every time I come in. As you can tell it is 100% one of my favorite restaurants in LA! I can't think of anything bad to say about this restaurant. I recommend to all my friends and family.

It's always poppin with young people with their friends or on dates during the weeknight which I love!! They're very accommodating and always make an effort to get a table for you even when they're busy. The food is good-- really tastes like Roman dishes
Every time I think of making a reservation, it's already
Every time I think of making a reservation, it's already booked. I know now why. I made reservations on the day, during the week, and the only spot left I would have to make it in 30 minutes. Jumped in the car and headed in LA traffic to make it within 25 minutes. Enjoyed everything from the bread to the best shrimp I have ever had. The sauce was so delicious, I had to keep dipping it in the homemade bread. I got the pasta, which I'm not a big fan of pappadella noodles, and they said I can get it with spaghetti. Everyone was so attentive and the restaurant was very airy and beautiful. I will be back again, hopefully soon!
The food was sooo delicious.
I'm a huge fan of lasagna and this was definitely one of my top three lasagnas now!!! I came here with a reservation and was seated right away. The service here was great and i have nothing bad to say about anyone. The sorbets were also some of the best sorbets i've ever had. All food pictured was so good I cannot wait to come back. Definitely check this place out if you're willing to splurge on some good quality italian food!
One of the best Italian restaurants I've ever visited.
Myself and my family were nearby and it was already time for lunch. I spent a while searching for somewhere good to eat and this place piqued my interest. We had an amazing lunch and had a great time. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant was very clean and looked amazing. We hope to come again soon.
What can I say about this place? You had me at burrata bar.
Service was impeccable from the time we entered. They have covered outdoor seating which we took advantage of. I can't comment on the wine list but I'm sure there's something for everyone. Some of my friends complain about restaurant noise but the noise level here seemed to be acceptable. Now the food. I had the Burrata with Pesto and a friend had the Burrata with Beets. Both beautiful and delectable. Their house bread is delicious but a little crunchy for my tastes. I would have preferred a softer choice for my burrata but it was divine nevertheless. We also had the prawns appetizer and moved on to the Cacio e Pepe and the Branzino. I had the Pinsa Quattro Formaggi. I added the Porchetta to the Pinsa and I wish I hadn't. The Porchetta, in my opinion, distracted from the deliciousness of the cheeses. The cheeses played well together without the addition. The desserts - I try not to overuse the word "foodgasm," but the Champassion (passion fruit sorbet in Prosecco) made me light-headed it was so good. The Olive Oil cake was stellar as well. I'd love to eat here again. I want one more meal before I give it a "5." One word of caution regarding parking. There is street parking if you can find it in this suburban neighborhood. It is right in the heart of a busy section of 3rd street though. The valet is expensive at $14 so bring your cash.
This place is awesome.
Came here with a group of friends for a girls' night and everything from the vibes to the food was such a hit! We each got a Spritz (I got the Grapefruit one), and those were great. Simple but sweet and still fairly strong. As for food, we got the Homemade Bread and Olive Oil, The Baby Gem Caesar Salad, and the Patate (potato) Pizza to share and I also tried the Ragu Pappardelle. The pasta and pizza were both amazing. The potato adds such a unique element to the pizza, but I think it accompanied the cheese so well. The flavor kind of reminded me of potato gratin in a way. The pasta was definitely my favorite thing. The noodles were cooked to perfection and the meat in this was so tender and flavorful. The dish is what you would expect, but they executed it so well. Our server was great throughout our meal, and the vibes here are immaculate. It's lively, but not too loud. Definitely a great date or group dinner spot.
Excellent Yelp find for 4pm linner (if there is a brunch
Excellent Yelp find for 4pm linner (if there is a brunch there should be a linner) with nice plump mussels ("Sofia" with white wine, garlic, lemon juice and parsley ($25), fries with aioli, delicate homemade bread with EVOO ($3) great service, nice ambiance w/ covered patio. Couldn't ask for more.
Oste was spot-on.
Our server was super attentive and friendly, timing each dish perfectly. Every pasta and pizza were excellent, and I had no issues with this visit.
This is my favorite italian restaurant in LA.
Food is a 5/5 service is a 5/5 and the prices are very reasonable. Everything's super good but, I loved the mussells with the bread
Everything was great.
We shared the artichokes, octopus, mussels and a pizza. Everything was excellent and the service was very attentive but not annoying. Nice space. We will be back for sure. Highly recommend!
Dining at Oste in Los Angeles was a fantastic experience.
The staff was incredibly attentive to our preferences when ordering, offering excellent recommendations. The ambiance of the restaurant is lovely, creating a charming dining atmosphere. Whether it's a lunch date or a casual meal, Oste is the perfect spot. I highly recommend trying the broccolini, a pasta dish, and exploring the delicious pizza selection.
Came for a graduation celebration.
Our party got there late and we were told after being seated for about 20 minutes that we only had 2 hrs for the reservation. It's a wine bar, so the cocktails are sweet. They do have beer if you prefer as well. I didn't care for the margarita pizza we got. It was very doughy and too much too tomato sauce. While we waited, we ordered the octopus and the house bread. I could eat 10 orders of the octopus. It was the best octopus I've ever had in my life. The house wasn't anything significant, but it did well with the cauliflower hummus that came with the octopus. We tried the pasta with ox tail and it was flavorful, potent actually but it was good. It was a busy place, people came and went. Our server was informative when it came to ordering and patient.
I came here for an early dinner with a girlfriend.
She recommended coming here as it's one her all time favorite Italian spots. She's a huge foodie like myself so I fully trusted her judgement and I was so excited to dine here. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint. EVERYTHING we had was incredible. I absolutely loved the food, it was so well prepared and delicious. The vibe was super cute too and loved the aesthetic. I can't wait to go back.
I'm all for a 3rd St.
restaurant, so hitting up Oste was definitely something I was looking forward to. The first and most important part of this review is regarding our waiter, Steven. Steven may be the best waiter in all of Los Angeles. I don't think I have ever met a more friendly and compassionate soul in the restaurant scene. I never felt so taken care of and our best interests at heart. Steven went above and beyond and truly made this a one of kind experience. Food wise, everything is very good. The bread is decent and while I wasn't a fan of the steak tartare, I did enjoy the burrata. Our entrees included the lasagna, chicken milanese, and steak. All of which were fantastic. I've never had breaded chicken milanese before, but it truly tasted amazing. The portion was so big I had to bring it home! Overall, I really dug the vibe of Oste. The staff is personable, the food is great, and the ambience is eclectic. A good spot that is affordable and worth checking out!
hmmm special occasion made reservation.
not seated. finally seated at undersized table. Ugh:( service bleh

First time here Matt is our waiter love the vibe We have the fungi mushroom pizza and shared it with some pasta and scott had pepperoni and sausage pizza. It was too much. It was fantastic. I don't know what else I could say. We will be back
Easily one of the best pinsas I've ever had in LA! Loved
Easily one of the best pinsas I've ever had in LA! Loved all the dishes and the environment at the restaurant. It's best if you book this place ahead of time or you'd get seated at the bar (like us). All the staffs were friendly and attentive. Will definitely come back for more! The added truffle was all worth it so delicious!
Absolutely amazing service and atmosphere!! Everyone

We had a reservation and were seated immediately upon arrival. The restaurant was crowded but not too noisy, everyone was enjoying themselves. The server was amazing and offered menu suggestions. I forgot the name of our appetizer but it was delicious! I danced at the table the whole meal because I enjoyed every part of it. Definitely lived up to expectations and I'd be back.
So glad I finally tried this place, everything was
So glad I finally tried this place, everything was DELICIOUS. We tried multiple different dishes and all of them were a 10/10. Service was amazing, they were super friendly and attentive. We celebrated a birthday and they brought us a tiramisu with a candle which was lovely! The vibes were great, felt very homey and comfortable. Will definitely be coming back to try more dishes.
Great food and lovely service.
Prices were fair and ingredients were fresh. The pizza was killer and I also had a beautiful beet salad that looked like art on the plate without breaking the bank.
Had a great meal at Oste last night.
I was a little late for the reservation and they were very accommodating. The wine list was great, and they were very flexible in adjusting an entree to make it vegan! Cool spot with good vibes.
Who doesn't enjoy staring at an enlarged photo of Sophia
Who doesn't enjoy staring at an enlarged photo of Sophia Loren, who gave real meaning to real and enlarged. Sophia and the owner, Alessandro Iacobelli, will welcome you warmly. Walk in and say "What a cute place", and it is a cute place without being cutesy. Street parking allows you 2 hours all of which you'll need just to peruse the ambitious menu. The decor is Italo-chic. Spartan but cozy and charming. A few large photos (if you can pry your eyes away from a young Sophia). The lighting warms the dining room and the design of this little gem says authentic and comfortable. There is a Brass and Copper machine to make Espresso and impress oh, it's so Italian. You'll think you've clicked your heels and closed your eyes, and when you opened them, you're in Trattoria dall'Oste in Florence. And...Oste don't coste that much. You can pay much more and get much less around town. You have found a true find. The background music will have your finger poking your Shazam app with each new tune. It's not intrusive like so many places where the loop eclipses all conversation. Not here. It's nice background music. There is a lovely dining room with two and four tops lining the wall across from the Wine Bar and also a street side patio which makes the hustle of the streets fade away. Oste doesn't need a hostee as all the staff will greet you like a new puppy. Your table is ready and while you make your nest, menus appear, but no rush as the table is yours until you need help getting up. The Staff was genuinely happy to make sure you have a great time here with food and wine to match. Oste is so un-Roman too, where waiters are aimlessly roamin' and groanin' about being on their feet all night in pants too tight. This ain't that. Service is practiced and professional, helpful and just plain friendly plus the kitchen knows exactly what they're doing and will pace your meal carefully. The Bar is Beer (on tap), and a curated Wine list offers a great collection and all fairly priced. Now, we have arrived at the magic moment. What's to eat here? Everything! The kitchen is focused and energetic. Seasoned cooks seasoning dishes with confidence and fully capable of serving the best of Rome in LA. The Bread basket at $3 had me immediately. It is full of warm fresh baked stacked slices of delicious bread. It was like a Ciabatta and a Focaccia got sloppy on a Tinder date and created a love child. The secret is Rice Flour, Whole Wheat Flour, and 85% water to create a nice crust and irresistible chew. You're gonna need several baskets of bread to sop up everything on each new plate beginning with the herby olive oil underneath the Carciofi alla Giuda (fried baby Artichokes) as good as you get at Piperno's in Rome on the Sunday night buffet. The Artichokes are hot, crunchy and enhanced by Italian Parsley, Lemon, and a riff on Bagna Cauda (Garlic and Anchovies). You'll need two orders of this too. So, just unravel your travel plans and go to Oste. (Piperno's is too noisy and hard to find anyway). The Insalata di Radicchio e Finocchio has bites of Radicchio and sliced Fennel, Asian Pears, Gorgonzola and Candied Walnuts in a light Vinaigrette that supports the ingredients without overpowering them. More bread por favori, Cameriere. No dressing will be left behind. Now, you need to have a meat-a-ball. Three baseball sized beauties are exceptionally light and fluffy. The meat was handled just enough and isn't that what we yearn for...in a Polpettine? Other versions of this simple yet traditional dish are like gagging down river rocks. These Meatballs have been elevated to an art form. They are served with an intense Sugo di San Marzano Tomato, melted Stracciatella Cheese from Puglia and a sprinkle of Nigella Seeds. They were terrific. These Meatballs have balls and won't disappoint should you take one home and have it for breakfast with a Runny Egg the next day. Or, just hoover the lot with your third basket of Bread. The Pinsa (pizza) is as large as a throw rug. My Pinsa Carbonara had a cracker crust and came with Guanciale, Bacon, Pecorino-Romano Cheese, Black Pepper, and that Runny Egg on top. Perfect for those Glatt Kosher, Vegan friends. (It's worth it to just get new friends as the Pinsa is wonderful). The Lasagna was sheer brilliance too. A simple dish turned into something for Royalty. The loaf was as big as a brick and had layers of al dente noodle sheets, slathered with a rich Bolognese Ragu in between them along with Bechiamella, Pecorino-Romana Cheese, and Black Pepper. Both hands on the serving soon and lift with your legs. Have room for house made Gelato? Even if you don't, get some. Chocolate Gelato and Passionfruit Sorbeto was perfect. You can always cat nap while the CHP writes you a ticket for weaving your way down the 5 Fwy. I can now boaste that I'll return to Oste soon. (Like tonight).
Authentic Italian dining experience! The restaurant was
Authentic Italian dining experience! The restaurant was super packed, but the service and quality of the food was amazing. Started off our meal with the Homemade Bread and evoo for the appetizer. The bread was super warm and you can tell it was freshly made. The Battuda di Manzo (beef tartare) was made with Wagyu beef, shallots, parsley, and a quail egg. Super flavorful and delicious. The Rigatoni Cacio e Pepe was cheesy and had just the right amount of peppery flavor. Although it was a bit heavy, it was still really good and filling. The standout was the Sofia Mussels. The mussels were in a wine and garlic sauce and the sauce was very rich in flavor. Couldn't stop dipping the bread in this sauce! The food, ambiance, and service were all top notch! Highly recommend this spot for Italian and will be back for more mussels!
Really is an excellent restaurant.
Everything I have tried here tastes delicious. I have recommended it to all my friends and they all love it here also. Service is always great and ambiance is very comfortable.
