Whispering Lou from Toronto
We stopped by the winery with no tastings booked while exploring the Napa Valley. We were welcomed with a smile from the host/hostess and were welcomed to enjoy the beautiful grounds. When I asked about buying some wine we were led into a beautiful room filled with antiques. There was no sign of the arrogance and snobbery of some of the lesser wineries we had visited that day. A great team presenting an extraordinary wine... Cheers...

After a gated entrance lined with lovely olive trees, your attention will be held captive by a modern building with some unique architectural features. We were ushered into an atrium before meeting our wine educator, Theresa. A brief tour ensued and then we were lead to our tasting room. The wines were AMAZING! We were able to try the 2012,2017,2019, and Overture expressions and we chose to purchase the sampler. The snacks paired well and really changed our tasting experience for the better. Although a cost of $200 per person seems steep, the value far supersedes other tasting options (such as Alpha Omega) for which we were charged $150 per person without any snacks and far inferior wines. Very much so worth the visit and it will set the bar for which you can compare other tasting experiences.
Be the first to ReplyA must do in Napa Valley
A visit to Napa Valley is not complete without a tasting and tour of Opus One. This winery set the bar high for the region when it was first created and it continues to push that bar higher. How many wineries make just one wineโฆbut do so with such care and attention that each vintage is better than the last? Conditions with weather obviously impact production, but here there is such focus on creating the best blend possible each year and it shows in the glass. Touring the winery is fascinating and a bit awe inspiring, too. Views from all angles of the mountains and vineyards are postcard worthy, and the guided tasting is informative and made even more enjoyable by accompanying curated bites. A less involved tasting is also availableโฆ.but if you are able the pairing experience is really worth your time. We enjoyed three vintages plus a glass of overture (a blend of the blends). My husband and I had first visited Opus in 2017, and this time brought two couples who are good friends. We enjoyed this visit so much more than our first because of the pairings plus our host, Jorge and his wonderful explanations of the production and winery philosophy. It was a great addition to our five days in the valley!

This was our first stop on our wine tour last week. We are from MI so this winery was at the top of our list to try, since we love the wine (when we can splurge on it). The grounds were beautiful, the tasting areas were gorgeous and tasteful (be sure to check out the rooftop terrace), and the people were friendly and informative. Time well spent!

In Napa Valley, there is never a shortage of excellent wines to taste. However, due to the limited availability of tasting at Opus One, we would have to say that it was definitely an unparalleled experience. Where else are you going to taste multiple vintages of Opus One (you can add on vintages as well) and have a chance to compare it to Overture? Even if you are partial to either Bourdeaux-style and/or Napa-style wines, you will still enjoy this experience!
Be the first to ReplyA Truly 5 Star Experience
A truly 5 star experience just begins to tell the story of our first visit and wine tasting at Opus One Winery. Our time there was heightened by having Brendon as our specialist. He was very knowledgeable, as you might expect, but in a warm and friendly manner. When we arrived early for our tasting, we were worried after seeing the opulent tasting room and beautifully manicured grounds that the place might be too stuffy and pretentious for us. That was truly not the case. All of the staff were welcoming and acted in a professional manner, but we were made to feel comfortable throughout the experience. Opus One only creates red blend wines and they are very expensive, but worth it because they know how to age and blend delicious and elegant wines. Our favorite was the Opus One 2016. We tasted black cherry and chocolate notes and loved it so much that we purchased a bottle to enjoy on our 40th wedding anniversary next year. We were not fond of the chef's selection (crackers and nuts) to accompany our tasting, but that did not detract from our experience in any way.

This winery is at a whole other level. We love Opus One wines and there is never a bad year. Entering the secured gate, driving past the vineyard and stepping into this grand building already have you in this WOW effect. Our host Mark Chon was professional, informative and friendly. He lead us in this beautiful room for our tasting. Comfy sofa big tables with vineyards view. The canapรฉs pairing with 2012, 2016, and 2018 was perfect. They are so detail with their nice wine glass, brochures, napkins and hot tea. Restrooms are clean spotless with toto toilets. We were lucky to see the wine production. $200 tasting was worth it. This is a MUST GO!!

Fantastic tasting and tour. Host Mark was attentive and answered all of our questionsโmore importantly, he took the time to learn our names and from where we were visiting. Wines themselves were delicious. Loved that we were there during harvest season. We really loved our visit and would go again if in Napa.

Our family had a wonderful and informative experience at Opus One. Everything was elegant, bright, clean, airy and relaxing. Our specialist Chris Zimmerly had the best vibe and personality. Chris engaged our small group with pairings, thoughts, hints and knowledge. Chris was just exceptional and we are happy we were "paired" with him.

We had such memorable experience during our wine tasting. It was so special and personalized. BETO C AGUAYO was our guide or winery host and he couldn't have been nicer, more patient and informative. We learned so much and the wine was delicious. A highlight of our time in Napa Valley for sure!!

A visit to Opus One was a highlight as their wine is among our favorites. Brandon was an excellent host and told us in great detail about the creation of Opus One.
Be the first to ReplyPersonalized wine tasting experience
Opus One Winery takes wine tasting to the next level. Our personal wine expert spent two hours with us, not only reviewing the wine, but also giving us a history of the winery, the architecture of the building, and a personal behind-the-scenes tour. The wine tasting was paired with an exquisitely crafted food menu to complete the experience. Just a wonderful experience all-around.
Be the first to ReplyA wine museum
We did the Opus one experience. Touring the Opus winery is like touring a well-decorated museum dedicated to wine. The tours are private, so there are no other people with you. The building and the surrounding land are incredibly immaculate, and it certainly stands out from all the rest. Terese, our tour guide, should be a storyteller. She gave us a great breakdown of the vineyardโs history and was an overall pleasure to spend time with. We ended up buying a few bottles and having them shipped home. Highly recommend going.

Recently a group of friends and I went to Opus One. We've all tried a number of wineries in Napa, but we all agreed that Opus had the best wine. We were actually late due to traffic but Opus One was very nice and held the reservations for us. Afterwards we hopped over to Thomas Keller's new popup Regiis Ova and Caviar Lounge. Definitely recommend doing the both of them together. You'll have a blast!

We went to 9 wineries on our trip, this is the only one I'm reviewing.
It's that good, and distinctive.
The attention to detail and little enchancements that really make this place shine. Oh, and the wine, it's not that bad :D
We came here first for our 15th anniversary trip, and while the other places were good, Opus made them look bad by comparison.
Our host was sat with two parties at the same time, so a manager (I'm guessing) stepped in to help out and ended up being our host for the whole time. From the card left for us to acknowledge our milestone, to the various options we were offered, through the amazing property, we could not have been happier.
This is a special occasion wine for us, but even if it was not, the experience will be treasured for as long as my memory holds out.
Yes, it's the First Growth of Napa Valley
Last week, six of us had a truly memorable "Opus One Experienceโ tasting. Opus One has positioned itself as the First Growth of Napa Valley and the wines are up to the task. Kevin Sheedy, our tasting guide, did a superb educating us on the history of Opus One, the changes over the years, the cรฉpage, and the different vintages we tasted. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

This experience was fantastic! Meil (unsire of spelling) was our host and he was fantastic. We felt like we were the only guests at the entire, incredible establishment. The view is amazing from the terrace and the rooftop. He provided us with a ton of history and knowledge about the winemaking process. The short tour around the building continued to amaze us. We were so happy to have the opportunity to enjoy a glass of the Overture on the rooftop. All staff we interacted with made us feel like royalty. It is absolutely worth every penny for the experience, along with sampling these amazing wines.

Best experience in Napa. We visited Opus One on our first day and the visit did not disappoint. From the luxurious sitting room to the magnificent views, everything was more than we expected. Nancy was amazing bringing the history and different wines to life. Champagne to start off, followed by 4 delicious vintages and a visit to the wine cellar. At no point did we feel rushed. We visited 9 wineries during our stay and this one is the one that stood out and by which all others were measured. Thank you Opus One and Nancy for making this such a memorable experience!
Be the first to ReplyGreat wine and winery. Dull experience.
This was my first time at Opus One and I had high expectations for it. The main reason why I go to Napa is to try and find new wines. For me, Opus One is pricey so I wanted to try it before I purchase bottles of it. Well, Opus One did not disappoint, It is one the best wines I have tried and I will certainly buy it for special occasions. We were offered their other brand (Overture) and it was a great wine as well. I enjoyed the modern building and their patio areas but I was a little disappointed with how the tasting was conducted. We felt we were not paid enough attention and the whole experience was dull. I will say their wine is a 5 stars but their tasting experience a 3 stars. If you donโt reside near Napa I would recommend other wineries instead.

I have booked the Opus One Partner's Room wine tasting and this was far the best wine tasting experience I've ever had. Mark C provided such an unforgettable experience by giving an amazing tour of one of the most impeccable winery in Napa. His exceptional service and professionalism made Opus One to be a very special place.

Great experience. Just when I thought I had hit wine fatigue, the wines here are not cheap but they certainly pack a punch. Worth the trip and teh cost! Best wines in the Napa Valley! Overall surprised at how inviting it is given the exclusivity of the label and cost. The service was warm and friendly.
Be the first to ReplyOpus One - awesome wine, awesome experience - like the old days in Napa
The absolute best wine tasting experience ever.
My two daughters and I visited at the end of June 2021. We signed up for the Opus One Experience, we received a vertical flight in the partners room, a bonus pour and a tour of the beautiful winery and barrel room. The server was Mark C and he was extremely informative about the wine and history of this iconic winery.
This tasting experience was like the old days when Napa went the extra mile to make their guests feel welcome.
Oh, and the wine was sublime. Great dark fruit flavors, velvety mouthfeel and rich, smooth tannins.
I realize that this tasting is higher than average Napa winery; but if you visit one high end Napa winery - THIS SHOULD BE THE ONE!!!!
Not what we expected...
My husband and I and another couple booked the Opus One Experience ($125pp). We were so excited and even more so when we pulled up to the winery as it is stunning! Unfortunately, our experience was rather boring and lack luster. The woman that did our tasting was socially awkward and just didnโt fit well with our group I guess. It was better when she just left us and let us do our own thing. The wines were good but certainly not worth the $400+ per bottle that they are. Or maybe they are but it wasnโt explained to us. We were overall disappointed with our visit and highly suggest so many other experiences and wineries in the area over this one.
