Be the first to ReplyAll you need to know is: get the mushrooms and duck.
We had: country ham, tteok, honey - basically crispy mochi covered with ham and a hint of honey. Fine but I would skip to leave room for the duck. mushroom 3 ways, poached egg, sourdough breadcrumbs - So good. The mushrooms are so umami and I love poached egg, which just makes it even better. I don't know if my boyfriend has enjoyed a vegetable dish this much before. 14 day dry aged duck, blueberry hoisin, house pickles, scallion pancake - This is basically a twist on Peking duck, and man does this twist work. The dry aged duck is so good - the spice rub on top has just a bit of that Szechuan spice flavor without any of the spice and the duck fat is just so delicious. A bite of the crust + fat + tender duck meat is delicious. And then you add in wrapping it in a scallion pancake with blueberry hoisin + scallion salad and it's just incredible. You also get a whole duck so while pricy, it feeds a lot of people. With just the 2 of us, we were too full to even touch the rice below the duck - I imagine this would be better for a group of 4 people to share.
Be the first to ReplyThis is the perfect restaurant.
Can't say enough nice things. It is a more modern version of Momofuku. The experimental, David Chang restaurant that closed recently. The service is flawless, the dishes are inventive and unique and constantly rotating. Too many favors to mention, too many surprises, I've never had a meal where I would order every single thing again. Haven't been there a couple times I will recommend the tartar, the chips, the croquette, the cabbage, the uni. The drinks are fantastic too.

Nudibranch was our favorite places we ate when my friends I visited New York recently. Everything we ate was so flavorful, unique and delicious. Staff is extremely nice and welcoming. Some of our favorites were the crispy chicken sandwich, alpaca tartare, radicchio salad, 14 day dry aged duck (scallion pancakes that came with it were one of the best I've had!), and croquettes. Basically everything! This place is a must try!

Some blips in service otherwise would be 5 stars. Get the alpaca tartare!! My favorite

Note: I only went for a drink during happy hour so can't comment on the food. With that said, what a lovely little spontaneous treat! I saw a sign outside advertising $10 cocktails before 7 and this place has been on my list so I figured I'd give it a try. I ordered the Kingston Negroni which was a fun little riff on the classic. It was batched but clearly made in house. Bartender was super friendly and kind, and another member of the staff stopped by to check in on me as well. They were super attentive, granted it was very quiet being close to the holidays. The place is beautiful and the food menu is extremely interesting, I would definitely come back again when I'm hungry. One thing I will note is that the prices on the happy hour menu for food are commensurate with the regular menu - for example a croquette is $5 for one but on the regular menu it's $11 for 2 so you're not getting much of a deal. Either way the cocktails are a steal. One very minor thing is that the water was a bit lukewarm, a little ice would go a long way! I'm sure I could have asked for some and I'm sure they would have gladly obliged, though. Would absolutely come back

Came here twice in two weeks! Although we had a reservation both times, we were made to wait over 15 mins for our table, which wasn't great but at least you know they don't kick you out immediately after eating. Tapas style dishes, with some Italian and Korean influences. Staff are pretty friendly. The drinks list is quite extensive, I particularly enjoyed their takes on the old fashioned and martinis (not for vegetarians as it is garnished with some kind of fish). Main negatives besides the long wait time was the price. This is definitely closer to a 4 dollar sign place, each dish and cocktail is over $20 and the portions are small.
Be the first to ReplyEverything from ambiance, food and service was amazing.
The best chicken burger I ever had we had to order one more... Jin and Chloe were so friendly and the absolute sweetest. Thank you Nudibranch for an amazing time and the complimentary tequila shots. Will def be back!!!
Be the first to ReplyWent to Nudibranch on a Friday with two friends.
The restaurant is cute and great for a date spot. Let's get into the food: Ahí de gallina croquettes: 10/10 - absolutely divine, we ordered a second round Alpaca tartare 10/10 - SO unique and absolutely delicious, highly recommend Oxtail 8/10 - I'm picky with oxtail because of my Caribbean background, but this was pretty solid. The meat fell right off the bone Rice cakes 6/10 - disappointed with these, I love rice cakes and have had so many variations, these were undercooked and wayyyy too salty White bean salad 5/10 - boring, no flavor Rice side 6/10 - came cold, bland Drinks 7/10 - average, nothing incredible The most important dishes were hits, the others were misses. Portion sizes were small for the price point, but I can look past that if the flavors are amazing (see croquettes and tartare). The worst aspect of Nudibranch had to be the service. After getting seated, we didn't get our drinks for at least half an hour. Waitress came around with complimentary tequila shots, which was nice. But we still waited for time after that for drinks. Then we asked for rice with the oxtail and got the rice first and it got completely cold by the time the oxtail came around.

The service was really good and the ambiance was good for a group. I'd say the portions are on the smaller side so if you have a big appetite like me you won't be full (we got pizza afterwards) but everything was delicious. The biscuits with koji butter was so good, and the mushrooms were amazing!!! Hamachi was so fresh and high quality and the presentation on everything was also superb. They have have baby cocktail options which was really cute.

Exploratory experience with the $85 set menu - dined here a few months ago with a friend.First:- alpaca tartare (8/10): texture reminded me of a steak tartare, the cheese was a bit overpowering. I felt like I was eating a deconstructed raw burger. - trout (10/10): super refreshing and flavorful for a summer day, lovely citrus aftertaste Second: - soba (5/10): unimpressed by the flavor, felt too basic to offer on a set menu where everything else was more experimental- don't remember what else we got Third: - mushroom (10/10): best dish on the menu. I would come back just to experience this again. I loved how creative this dish was and how it was able to extract the various flavors from each type of mushroom. Perfect level of seasoning on each. - red snapper (7/10): nothing memorableService was great, waiter was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable.

Went here with a friend, what an experience! As someone who loves Asian food but usually sticks to 1 Asian genre at a time, I didn't know what to expect seeing the range of Asian flavors on the menu. Wow were my expectations blown away! Whether it was the frog legs, hamachi (yuzu, yes please!), the perfectly prepared soba, pork belly, and the shaoxing mushrooms, it was clear I made the right choice in restaurant reservations and bringing my friend who's willing to order differently and share!

Nudibranch is another great Korean option in NYC, albeit it's a bit more of an adventurous menu compared to other Korean fare. The restaurant itself located in the East village is well laid out with a great playlist. The food, feel, and space reminded us of Oiji when it operated in the East village.Food wise we got a bunch of small plates to share. The menu is broken into 3 sections with each section being a larger portion item. For dinner we had;Country Ham - this was Nudibranh's version of a charcuterie board. It was our favorite dish of the meal. It's various cuts of ham, our favorite being the pigs ear salad. It also come with honey comb to add some sweetness as well as tteok.Soba w/Uni - the soba noodles were delicious. The Uni is an additional charge and well worth the price, it was fresh, a generous portion and took the soba to another level.Arroz Negro- we enjoyed this, the risotto was good but the standout was the shrimp.Pork Belly - second favorite dish of meal, succulent, fatty, and delicious.Steak - this was our least favorite dish. I don't think it's on the current menu. Wouldn't say it was bad it just didn't match the quality of the rest of the meal. Nori rice - this additional side is well worth it, you can use it to soak up some of the leftover sauces in the various dishes you order.Service was great. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and took great care in accommodating an allergy restriction in our party.

I love this elegant classy looking restaurant in East Village. We tried dishes like frog legs, bottarga soba, alpaca tartare, red snapper and mushroom . We really love the mushroom dish which taste wonderful. It is my first time trying raw alpaca. It tasted like tuna to me and I thought they put too much cheese in the dish. The rest of the dishes are all decent but the portions are quite small.

Food was rather unimpressive and portions were teeny, especially for the price. We got the mushrooms, alpaca tartare, flatiron, and pork belly. Favorites were the tartare and mushrooms but again nothing to write home about. The rosetta dessert was also disappointing. The fried part felt greasy and apple slivers were dry. For $75 per person without drinks, it definitely didn't seem worth it.

Overall pleasant but dishes are on the smaller side for the price.Frog Leg, Stuffed Squid, Strip Loin, Alpaca Tartare - pretty good but I don't think I'd crave for it again.Nori Rice was simple good add little touch. The only dish I hope we didn't order was the Soba Bottarga - the soba was salty and dry, it's kinda a waste of how bottarga is used.Nice ambience cozy space.

This place is $$$ but soooo worth!! Came here to try the tasting menu for our anniversary but somehow ended up coming on the one day they don't serve their tasting menu. The waitress was nice though and explained that the a la carte menu they offer is basically the same thing if you order one thing from each section. The restaurant was full on the Tuesday night we came for dinner, and the vibes felt modern yet cozy and lively, with a bar on one side and tables on the other. I love that they offer small sized cocktails, so we started with the ice caps are melting, which was lightly sweet and delicious. We started with the frog legs and hamachi. The hamachi was beautifully soft and acidic and refreshing. The frog legs tasted like fried chicken but more tender and not salted enough. We then got the mapo scungili and soba with uni add on. The uni was expensive but so delicate that it melted in our mouths and really made the dish special. The mapo was like a mapo tofu but with egg, and I enjoyed this flavorful Asian fusion dish.We ended with a fish curry and mushroom dish. The mushroom dish was so fun, with 4 types of mushrooms that you dip into an egg yolk. I love mushrooms so I loved it, my partner thought it was alright. The fish curry was good but not memorable.Overall loved how unique and flavorful the dishes were, and would definitely recommend this. Love the Asian influences too!

Really surprising meal and super delicious food! We came not knowing what to expect and left very pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food and our overall experience. The dishes were creative, but comforting, and generally easy to enjoy. The service was great, and the restaurant was small, but comfortable. I would definitely recommend going!
Be the first to ReplyThis dining experience was a MASSIVE letdown.
As a food enthusiast with my own Instagram food page, I have dined at restaurants all across New York City, but I have never encountered this kind of service. On a Wednesday night, six of us arrived with low expectations. The initial level of service was respectable, even though the food was only mediocre. When Jeffrey Kim, the owner, personally introduced himself and thanked us for visiting, we were thrilled. Up until he shocked us with his direct remark. He insisted again and again that he would not put up with us being rude to or treating his staff with disrespect. But he continues by expressing his gratitude for our business. We were all stunned by his rudeness and enraged by it. At NO point were any of the guests rude to the staff, and when we asked him to give examples of this so-called disrespect to his staff, he couldn't come up with anything. The whole encounter came as such a shock because we had been pleasant to the staff throughout our dining experience. He didn't give the customers the benefit of the doubt. He just came and said we are rude and that there is no room for any discussion. No one else should visit this establishment ever, and neither will we. When leaving the restaurant, we've never felt so disrespected. Since there are far better restaurants in this city that serve this type of meal in this category, we will never return.
Be the first to ReplyCame to nudibranch ok a Saturday night.
For the most part everything was good, but also just mediocre and not worth a revisit. For the first course we got frog legs and the scallop. Neither was worth getting, especially the scallops which were small and flavorless. The breading on the frog legs was soggy. For the second course we got the shrimp and soba, both of which were good but nothing unique. Best part of these dishes was the hot honey granola on the shrimp. For the third course we ordered the pork jowl and mushroom. Although we found both to be very overly salty, I absolutely loved the mushroom dish. The mushroom was probably the only dish of the night that I'd want to return to have again. Having the different types of mushrooms cooked different ways (fried, grilled, pureed, etc.) presented so much variety in textures and umami. And the egg yolk in the middle was the perfect temperature, where no matter how you dug into it the yolk never broke. The portion sizes for the courses were all pretty reasonable and we left comfortably full.

Overhyped, food was either too salty (the meats) or uninteresting. Pre fixe is $75 pp and includes 3 dishes (so we shared 6 between us). They changed the menu so now little clams have replaced razor clams (but everything else stayed the same so likely a cost measure) which was sad, since I was hoping to try the highly rate razor clams dish! The best items were shrimp and the fried frog legs (also my first time having frog). The green tomato in the halibut was also in ice form (quite interesting, and tasted much better than the fish itself). Presentation was nice, but felt like the food wasn't really there yet. Would skip the cauliflower as well given it was quite bland.
Be the first to ReplyThe tasting menu was excellent and a good value.
We sat at the bar. The ambiance is very warm and it's a great date spot. The razor clams and pork jowl were excellent. The turkey neck really stood out- unique and had complex flavor. Looking forward to going back and trying more of the menu!

I had a wonderful experience at nudibranch and will definitely be back again in the future! The staff was wonderful and attentive. The pre-fixe menu is sharing oriented, which was perfect because there were so many interesting things that everyone I was with wanted to try. Every single item was an absolute hit. I thought about going item by item in this review but everything was just so good that I would just be singing their praises over and over again. Some highlights include the pork jowl (I liked it so much I was inspired to buy some pork jowl to try cooking myself at home), the squid (the black bean sauce is like a concentrated Korean jajiangmien sauce, a delicious unexpected pairing), and the desserts (the black pepper cookie for the semifreddo was divine and the texture of the rosette was buttery yet crispy). I think my only drawback is that here is that the dessert isn't included in the pre-fixe menu. I don't think I've actually been to a place that has a pre-fixe menu that charged extra for the dessert. That being said, totally not worth knocking a star. It's just a shame to think that people pass up on tasting their amazing desserts because it's not a part of the set menu!

I hate to give this place a 3/5 based on the food, because it has a potential to be a 5/5. One extra star because the service was great. The drinks were great, pretty standard cocktails. We ordered the frog legs and scallops for the first course. The frog legs were nothing special, like lightly fried like fried chicken. I guess this could be exotic if you've never had frog legs before, but for us, it was nothing special. I'm a huge scallops fan and I feel like the cucumbers took away from the pure flavors of the scallops. I tasted more cucumbers than scallops because they were sliced so thinly. For the next course, we got the soba and the shrimp. The soba was cooked perfectly and tossed in a light soy base. I really hope the soba was made fresh, because otherwise this dish is something I can make easily at home. The shrimp portion was generous and good... kinda just tasted like a fancier mayo shrimp.Lastly, we ordered the pork jowl and the mushrooms. The pork jowl was tender. Again, nothing special. The mushrooms was the best course by far. This one was very creative, using many types of mushrooms and cooked in different ways, with a more than perfect egg yolk that was sooo creamy. For a $75 3 course tasting menu, I expect everything to be unique like the mushroom dish. Although the portions were larger than expected, it did not feel like they took enough risk in their dishes to make the menu stand out.
