Back to the four seasons !!!
Not as good as the restaurant! Check in they had the wrong room class. And the wrong length of stay. Waited two hours for them to fix. Then, no electric plugs near the bed. I have a sleep apnea machine that needs a plug! So have to ask for an extension cord. Wait for that. Then install it. It will run from the far side of the room to power the sleep machine. Hope I don’t trip on it in the night! NOT a premium place. Although the staff are very nice.
Be the first to Replythey ignore “do not disturb” sign
i got a late checkout extended and stuck “do not disturb” sign on the door. 30 minutes after normal checkout time, housekeeper knocks loudly, opens the door, and asks me what time i am checking out right in the middle of my zoom meeting. wtf? this hotel does not deserve such great reviews when they cannot even observe a simple “do not disturb” sign.
Be the first to ReplyVery disappointing.
Stayed in the Zen Suite. The carpeting was totally stained. Quite disgusting. Our door to the patio wouldn’t close all the way. There were hardly any drawers to put your clothes in. The bathroom was very small. This was an expensive suite. I could go on, but I think I’ve said enough.
Be the first to ReplyService really really sucks
The supposed 5 stars hotel did not provide laundry service. The concierge just stated that the contracted laundry shop closed down and so no service. No back up plans at all. Had lunch at their Nobu restaurant. A pot of tea took 40 minutes. No water service provided. Tea came after repeated complaints to the waiter. Food was even slower - ordered a few sushi dishes and a wagu beef rice dish. After 40+ minutes of waiting I asked to speak to the manager. The staffs all ignored my request. I had to spot him out and asked if he was the restaurant manager to complain. First and last time staying here ever. Don’t recommend anyone to stay here. Expensive and very poor service.
Be the first to ReplyAwful Experience - Avoid if you want what you booked, appreciate honesty and customer service, and like Wifi
Avoid if possible. First, Wifi isn't working. It's a known problem. I'm on a business trip and need to use my phone as a hotspot for any work I need to do. I booked a king room. Walked into 2 doubles. When I called down, I was told it's what I booked. I looked at my email reservation - I did in fact book a king. When I called again I was told they oversold tonight so they put me into a double. So I guess the first time the lied and tried to pretend it was my mistake. When I asked to be switched the next day, they said I can talk to someone tomorrow (while I'm at work?) and see what happens. What was I offered for this issue? Nothing. Barely an apology. A gaslight and then an unwillingness to remedy in any way. When I pointed out they were still booking King beds for the night online direct through their site, they said those people would be put in double rooms. When I explained that if they know that it's misrepresentation and false advertising, they did not seem to care. I won't make this mistake again - plenty of nice hotels around here.
Be the first to ReplyGreat hotel in downtown Palo Alto
We considered staying at the Four Seasons, but I then noticed that Nobu Hotel was half the price. I would venture to say that it rivals the Four Seasons in every way. The finishes and Japanese touches were incredible. I grew up in Japan and it made me feel very reminiscent! Lots of little things that make a big difference - fabulous location, comfy bed, nice towels, ukata (bathrobe) and slippers, amazing fancy toilet, sliding doors to balcony that you can open and get fresh air, good in room coffee, etc. Also the fantastic Nobu restaurant right downstairs. If you’re looking to stay in Palo Alto, look no further than Nobu Hotel.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Customer Service
An executive assistant here and book this hotel for my executives. Other hotels around Palo Alto are in desperate need of upgrades and can often be disappointing at the price point. Nobu is clean, modern design, busy hotel bar and great staff. The customer service has always been top notch. DJ Jordan, especially, at the front desk goes above and beyond. DJ helped me in last minute requests such as change/extend reservations, email past folio receipts and answer questions. All done with professionalism, kindness and attention to detail. Cant thank DJ enough and highly recommend this hotel!
Be the first to ReplyUnforgettable and Charming Experience!!!!
Wow!!! Just wow!!!! I surprised my wife on a romantic getaway and Nobu Palo Alto did not disappoint. From check in, Melenaite the Front Office Manager treated us like royalty! She went above and beyond in giving us suggestions to make our stay much more remarkable. The room was a pure zen and the the restaurant below was exquisite! Overall this was such an unforgettable experience and we have Nobu and Melenaite to thank for! You have generated a guest for life. Chao for now.
Be the first to ReplyPrestigious Service
My first time staying at this prestigious hotel. I came for a business trip and I was amazed! Beautiful room, comfortable bed, and the front office manager Melenaite was outstanding. I appreciated the attention to detail. I will be back! Very charming hidden gem!!
Be the first to ReplyNobu stay
Told Nobu I would be coming in at 1030pm last Wednesday. Flight was delayed so arrived closer to 11:30pm to find doors closed and no way to get in. Eventually Nobu Restaurant manager who was driving away saw me and he stopped his car to let me in. Nobu charged me $1224 dollars for a standard room that night(double regular rate). Their website listed a micro curated guide as part of the room which wasn’t much more than a coaster for drinks with a few local spots listed on it. Contacted valet to get my rental car as they had instructed. They had written wrong tag number so did not get the car. They did bring once I described the car to them. Disappointing service and Exorbitant price.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Location and beautiful boutique hotel
This hotel was perfect for our family of four...a quick overnight during a college tour trip. The location was close to all the dining & shopping in Palo Alto and about a 20 min walk to Stanford campus & shopping plaza. The room was modern, clean and the kids were enthralled with the heated seats on the toilet. :).
Be the first to ReplyEarly morning street noise ruins everything here …
Unwelcoming vibe at reception for evening arrival and none of room preference requests honored not a big deal but you can’t sleep here .. street noise early morning is simply too loud , too early and goes on too long. Started at 5 AM and did not stop with trash collection , sweeping , all manner of large vehicles stopping by and doing who knows what . Zero noise suppression in rooms. You hear everything on the street and I’m up a good 5 floors . Yeah the Japanese influenced decor and big TV and ToTo toilet are nice but if you can’t get any rest what’s the point ?
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful hotel and great service
The hotel is amongst the best I've stayed at, the rooms are clean and comfortable, basically exactly like the photos. A tip to first comers, the hotel check-in is on the 2nd floor, the first floor reception is for the restaurant. I was a bit confused when I got there. Other than that, the amenities are great, the huge TV screen plus the comfy pillows makes me just want to sit in bed and watch TV all day. As some other reviews have said, the aesthetic of the hotel is one of the things I love most. The Japanese touches of it can be seem from the cute electric kettle, the ice bucket (upon request, they gave me a super cute bamboo ice bucket), and the best of the best: TOTO toilet. As someone who's been to Japan numerous times, I was overjoyed to see this toilet again. Plus, for the first time ever in a hotel in the US, they actually provide slippers! The front desk and all the staff I was in contact with were super nice and fulfilled my requests promptly. I would definitely stay here again, it's probably my go to hotel in Palo Alto from now on.
Be the first to ReplyMore of a marketing and restaurant company than a hotel company
We were excited to stay at Nobu as we understood, from their marketing, that it was exceptionally cool, exclusive, and boutique. We looked on their site for a nice room and found that the Zen Suite (about $1,200) was available for the night we wanted to stay, which happened to be that same night. When we landed we checked again to see if it was available and it was, but since we were only a few minutes away we decided to go right to the hotel and check in rather than reserving online. The two young gentlemen at the front desk (early twenties and very inexperienced, but doing their best) laughed when we asked about the suite and said they were all booked and that Expedia was likely having problems. We said we saw it was available, not on Expedia, but on the Nobu Palo Alto site and we pulled it up in front of them. Anyway, don't trust their site for booking, you'd have to call to be certain before putting in your card info to make sure you aren't booking a room that doesn't exist inside the cancellation time. Then it just got stupid... they only had rooms with two queen beds (which by the way they are not queen beds - they are doubles which are really small). Since we were already there and tired we decided to take the two queen room (approx. $650/night). Got to our room and a large panel fell off the wall when my wife opened the safe. The paneling isn't aligned and opening the safe cabinet door was enough to dislodged a 3 by 4 foot heavy panel from the wall which then fell on her. We switched rooms. The next room had a lovely thick black hair in the sink, maybe a dark sushi noodle, not sure. It was end of day so we decided whatever we came up against we would stay. The beds are not queen beds, but I mentioned that already. Rooms are small. TV is enormous and really great, but very limited channels but still - it's a great TV. Shower was ok but no hand held and they have a "Japanese" style wood floor in the shower which serves only an aesthetic purpose, and maybe to hide hair underneath, but damn it hurts the feet. Bathroom is very tiny. The toilet was unbelievably great and the showcase of the room, along with the TV. The toilet is fully automated with remote control, heated seat, squirty things etc. Basically you are renting a toilet and TV with some surrounding furniture. No electrical outlets next to beds - just USB ports which is fine but not if you have new iPhone etc. Carpets are stained, mostly because of the color selection we think which shows an archaeological history of prior guest shenanigans. There is only one elevator which gets tedious. The common areas of the hotel are sort of finished but not really. There is an odd second floor patio that is 8 feet wide with some furniture facing a wall. Nobody was out there. There are surely other spots to stay in the area that would be a better value and still very nice. We couldn't help but think Nobu is more of a marketing and food services company than a hotel company. We give three stars which we think is fair for a three star hotel.
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful, peaceful and comfortable hotel
I loved the aesthetic of the hotel aswell as the comfort. The hotel was perfectly clean and the beds very comfortable. Even though Nobu Palo Alto is next to a busy street and the restaurant is very busy, I did not hear any noise. The walls and ceilings must be very thick because I didnt hear any noise from other floors. I will visit the hotel again on my next trip.
Be the first to ReplyGreat room, excellent staff.
The team at Nobu Hotel was wonderful. I had a fiasco with a lost iPhone and Lyft. The team at Nobu went out of their way to support.
The location was solid and the room itself was clean with a lot of great touches like a Toto toilet.
Will definitely stay here again.
Quiet luxury
My suite at Nobu was like a sanctuary! The deep soaking tub, the wall of windows that slid open to a large balcony, and the online chat to answer questions/requests at any time all contributed to my serenity. And the restaurant downstairs had incredible sushi and a lovely bar at which I could eat comfortably by myself. The service was phenomenal. A stay here is worth every penny.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing stay!
Our one-night stay was amazing! We used the valet available by just driving up to the front entrance which was convenient. All staff were friendly and kind. Upon check-in, we received a shot of tea and a warm wet towel for our hands which was a pleasant surprise. The room was just what we needed, super clean, comfortable temp., and comfortable bed. The balcony was a very nice feature as well as the fancy bidet toilet. I have absolutely no complaints; however, just an observation, the carpet is really light in color so of course there are stains but the carpet felt clean and soft. The breakfast we ordered to our room in the morning was delicious and the price was expected due to staying at a higher-end hotel. Awesome that they had gluten free toast too! Would stay here again for sure.
Be the first to ReplyYes, small rooms, but perfect location and great room service
First stating the obvious upfront: the rooms are small. I don't need a ton of space when I'm in a "city" hotel, so I'm fine with this. Stay here for the location and the room service, especially the Nobu breakfast on demand. Here's hoping that they return to 24/7 Nobu room service soon... so fun for a pre-party or after-party at, say, college reunion...
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing
Spent a night in one of their ryokan suites. Room looked beautiful, but there were many small details that did not meet my expectations. Some examples:
I found someone else's medication in the bedside table when I arrived. Was the room properly cleaned and inspected?
The tub is barely big enough for one person, I had to call the staff to come and repair it before it could be used, and there were black specks floating in the water after I filled it up.
They could not get the advertised Chromecast feature for the television to work even after I spent significant time with their tech support.
Staff did not respond promptly to an accidental service request then proceeded to wake me up at 1AM with a loud phone call.
One of the more uncomfortable beds I've experienced at a hotel.
Overall, I was disappointed in my stay at Nobu. Details matter when you're charging the rates that they are. Spend your money someplace else.
Style without substance
Woefully understaffed especially at breakfast; room service painfully slow and incompetent. Too many errors across the board to list here.
This hotel could only be tolerated for a couple of nights at most.
The staff are polite and enthusiastic but lack experience and training.
A true upgrade
We stayed at this property several times when it was The Epiphany. Our first stay under the new NOBU name and management was a complete delight. Everything about our experience was note perfect. Friendly and helpful staff people at every turn. Attentive and punctual valets. Gorgeous, thoughtfully designed rooms with the very best amenities (Dyson hair dryers!), luxurious bedding and the best solution I've yet seen for dispensing shampoo and shower gel. A bountiful mini bar catering to a spectrum of tastes. Afternoon door-to-door wine and beer service. And to top it all off, world class dining on the bottom floor at the hotel's rightfully famous namesake restaurant. We can't recommend highly enough this ideally-located, easily navigated retreat in downtown Palo Alto.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful Stay!!
I had the best stay at the Nobu Hotel in Palo Alto! Loved my beautiful, clean and comfortable room that overlooked the mountains. The zen-soaking tub was truly relaxing. The staff are all professional, friendly, and very responsive. Food is fantastic. Perfect location - an easy walk anywhere in the city - best place to stay in Palo Alto. Can’t wait to visit again!
Be the first to ReplyGracious Accomodations
Gracious, beautifully appointed rooms that overlook downtown Palo Alto and the mountains beyond. What a treat to enjoy a wonderful meal downstairs at Nobu, only to stroll upstairs afterward. Truly relaxing. A destination as well as a backyard getaway for those who live nearby. Treat yourself to room 805. The zen soaking tub is worth it.
Be the first to ReplyExtremely comfortable, the best location
Nobu never fails to please. The staff is pleasant, professional, and immediately responsive. The room has the largest tv I have ever seen in a hotel, and yet everything in the room feels appropriately tied together (and incredibly clean & comfortable of course).
This is my favorite place to stay in Palo Alto
