Morton's The Steakhouse Boston Reviews from The Last Year
This was the best steak I have had in years.
Nice environment and waitress was super. If you are ever in Boston you have got to check it out
Great location.
The staff was friendly and attentive - so no worries there. The food - nothing that wowed me. The pork chop was fine, not outstanding. The Brussel Sprouts were not crispy and the flavor wasn't all that great. The steak was okay, not wowed by it. We got a bottle of wine and each a salad. For 283.00 tip included we left there saying, why?
What I experienced at Morton’s was vastly different from what I was told
I was looking forward to my first visit at Morton’s after hearing nothing but raving reviews from my friends. Perhaps my expectations were too high. This is a restaurant in a location where customers are unlikely to randomly pop in. As such, it may be good for the staff to be aware that many customers would have checked them out before making a reservation. Let me first comment on the setting. It is contemporary, not completely formal (though they request that customers be in “business attire”). Tables are spaced near to one another. Music is moderately loud, and noise is rampant. Nevertheless, it still exudes a cosy atmosphere, good enough for dating. The restaurant does not have a cloak cupboard, so if i had come with a friend, and given a small table like I was today, where are we going to hang our cloaks? The guys in two nearby tables observed a RAT scuttling on the floor - right behind me!! After quite a long while, the manager came to apologize to each table about the incident - he attributed it to an ongoing adjacent construction. The best parts of my visit were the start and end. Let’s go into some detail on the food, in sequence: A. The complimentary bread looked gigantic, but it was really very soft and tasty! B. The lobster bisque was not robust enough for me. The lobster meat was also not hot enough. C. Fillet mignon wasn’t medium as I had requested; it was more of medium-well. D. The lobster tail was well presented, but it was slightly overcooked. E. Truffle cream corn was very good - creamy with a good dash of truffle. F. The “legendary” chocolate cake was excellently done. The lava did flow out as imagined, when I broke the crust. However, I felt the portion was too large for dessert… but that’s probably me speaking from an Asian country where portions (of everything) are relatively smaller. My waitress was young and very forgetful. I suppose another person in my position may not think it forgetful but “selectively biased”? Here is my evidence: - forgot my soup. So, my main course came immediately. I suppose Morton’s could teach its staff to always read back orders, no matter how confident one may presume oneself to be. - forgot to get me warm water. - failed to inform me of the April special. - failed to ask my to pre-order the chocolate cake as it takes 30mg for preparation. That said, she DID tell the adjacent customers to pre-order. I suppose Morton’s could simply insert a little phrase in the menu - “preparation takes 30 minutes” - otherwise, history will keep, unnecessarily, repeat itself. - failed to ask if I wished to take away the remainder of my bread (yummy). I did request for it eventually. Despite all her deficiencies, she did one thing right - service recovery. She took the initiative to waive the soup. Overall, I found service to be inconsistent. Two different personnel had come around to wipe off bread crumbs from two neighboring tables, but no one came to do mine. Surely I didn’t look like a shark?! Finally, I do wonder if it’s customary in US or Morton’s to give customers the bill just after desert was served? And guess what, my waitress came to remind me to pay up when I was merely halfway through my desert. Well, I certainly didn’t see this happening in other tables.
Mice! Been to other Morton's in most cities.
Don't go to this one! I was there this evening and saw several mice as did other patrons. The waitress saw it as well and sent the manager over. He did offer to comp our entire meal. However when it came time to pay the tab the bill was full besides him saying he took off a few drinks! In addition to that the waitress never filled our water's service was poor and she forgot our dessert entirely. Save yourself the headache avoid the mice and go to Maestros or Del Friscos
Ordered last Friday, 2 burgers and chicken Caesar salad,
Ordered last Friday, 2 burgers and chicken Caesar salad, have been ordering throughout the pandemic, one burger was good, salad was so so, the other burger ordered ordered medium well came totally burnt, very disappointed, sent review to Morton's but alas no response, speaks volumes about customer service , trying to post a photo of the burger but to no avail
Me, my husband and two boys went for Easter dinner.
My kids love Capital Grill but we decided to try a new steakhouse. The ambiance was nice and the waitress lovely but the food was not great. We paid over $400 for really bland steak. It wasn't a lack of flavor, the steaks had no flavor at all. I was also surprised at how hard it was to cut. Usually a good filet cuts like butter. The sides were good so that made up for it a little. But it's a steakhouse. That's what people go for. I should have said something but it was busy and a holiday so I didn't. That is a lot of money to pay for a tasteless steak.
Consistently quick and friendly service, serving massive
Consistently quick and friendly service, serving massive menu portions in their poppin dining room. No really, if you come at dinner time on a weekend, the dining room is packed. This adds to the fun when it's buzzing in here. I've come during off times before - when it's super quiet - and it changes the experience. I get the Chicken Christopher every time and it's so so good. They've nailed down the perfect creamy sauce it gets served in, and it comes with a lemon on the plate you can squeeze on if you'd like. The sides are big enough to feed 2 people so it's best to order a bunch of sides for the table and get a taste of everything. As it is, the onion bread they give you before ordering is so delicious that you might even get full off that. :) The French Onion Soup takes the cake as my fav starter. Although every time I come, someone gets the iceberg wedge salad and they speak so highly of it. So I'd suggest going with either. I'm not a steak lover but they certainly know how to cook a mean steak given how people always rave about it whenever I go!
I was here for dine out Boston week and I was excited to
I was here for dine out Boston week and I was excited to check out this steakhouse. The restaurant started us off with their garlic bread which was really moist and tasted great with butter. The French onion soup was small in size but was perfectly seasoned and tasted really good with the cheese on top. I ordered fillet mignon which was a bit smaller than I expected but the side made up for the portion. I got cheese potato gratin as my side which was really good. For dessert, the soufflé was my favorite part. It was super soft and had citrusy sweet filling inside. The waitress was really nice and it was really spacious inside. I really enjoyed and will check out other menus next time.
Came for restaurant week and was not disappointed.
Had the twice cut pork chop, 8 oz filet, lobster rav, and the chicken Christopher. Everything was excellent, but our server Robert was the cherry on top! He was very nice and great to chat with. Thanks Robert!
The service here was INCREDIBLE! I have never felt more
The service here was INCREDIBLE! I have never felt more welcomed at a restaurant. The host Gary was truly remarkable at making me and my boyfriends first anniversary truly memorable. They snapped a photo of us and created menus just for us! The ambiance was beautiful very upscale restaurant. The food was very pricy nothing below $30 if you want a meal. I got the Morton's Chicken and it was very thin and bland in flavor. The side cesar salad what HUGE and could be enough for an entire meal!
So good I went two nights in a row.
So good I went 2 nights running. I had hoped for simple things; a great steak, a warm welcome, nice wines and overall, a nice atmosphere. My experience on the first night was excellent; a wonderful Caprese salad, a fantastic fillet steak, perfectly cooked rare - and two wonderful wines. So good I went back the second night and was served by Miriam ; an utterly charming and totally professional waitress who deserves her own restaurant! The professionalism of all the staff stood out, but the cooking above all was first class.
Still delicious! Went last night and everything was
Still delicious! Went last night and everything was incredible per usual. We miss the shrimp Alexander though I hope they add it back to the menu!
Just ok - find another place for a romantic dinner
This steak house felt just ok. The steak was ok. The lobster tail was ok. The red wine was ok. The coffee was ok. The price for two people: 445 US dollars. That’s really not ok for a standard dinner. We booked months in advance, but they seemed surprised to see us. We had to wait for a waiter to get checked in. Then wait to get our table - which felt like being placed in a doorway. People running around us all evening, not very cosy. People wore caps despite a dress code and noisy kids ran around in the dining room. It felt like a much cheaper place, and I regret going there for what was supposed to be a nice, romantic dinner with my wife. It’s all just a bit to little for to much.
