Momiji Capitol Hill Seattle Reviews
We started with the grilled garlic short ribs and the daily
We started with the grilled garlic short ribs and the daily rotating sushi roll, which happened to be spicy tuna. Both were flavorful and satisfying. Edamame came as an appetizer and was perfectly salted. We also tried the Angel Roll and the Geisha Roll (which was our favorite of the night). The fish tasted fresh without being overly "fishy," and the spice level was just right, even for someone with a low spice tolerance. Despite how busy the restaurant was, our server was friendly, attentive, and quick with service. The space was larger than I expected. The front room had a more intimate feel, while the second room (where we sat) was lively with music that felt straight out of a 2000s movie--loud, but fun. There's even a garden area with seating that adds to the unique atmosphere.
This review is just for the food.
I recently had Momiji delivered twice, and it was the ultimate treat and highlight of a lengthy hospital stay. I ordered several rolls, and they were absolutely the best rolls I've had in a long time. The California roll, spider roll, and a shrimp tempura roll were all phenomenal. It was a pricey treat, but I was left feeling quite satiated. I'm looking forward to visiting the restaurant in person!
Excellent sushi.
We normally go to Nishino but this is our second go to! Generous servings and creative
Delicious food, fantastic quality of fish, very attentive
Delicious food, fantastic quality of fish, very attentive service throughout the night. Would recommend eating here to get a taste for some of the best Seattle has to offer!
It was busy when I showed up partly because of happy hour
It was busy when I showed up partly because of happy hour for some food and drink items. I didn't get any of those. Instead I had four pieces of really good nigiri (FOB Sushi's is easily as good) and nabeyaki udon. It took a while for the udon but it was worth the wait. Buckwheat noodles soup with shrimps, scallops, Asari clams, pieces of chicken, big tempura shrimp, veggies, and a real king crab leg. $26. I have paid $10 more for other bowls of udon with real crab.
They have a good happy hour deal, we recommend coming here
They have a good happy hour deal, we recommend coming here and ordering a couple rolls and yap. A favorite is definitely their crispy rice.
Beautiful ambiance-- there is dim lighting in the dining
Beautiful ambiance-- there is dim lighting in the dining area. The size of the restaurant is also much larger than it lets on-- there is seating in the back, outdoor near a zen garden, and even further back. They prepare the sushi in an open kitchen so the food isn't coming out instantly but it's certainly fresh. Each table has a QR code with the menu but a server does come around to take your order. There is also a ponzu sauce container and sauce dishes for each table. They started us off with some salted edamame while we were deciding what to eat. Due to the business of the restaurant (on a Thursday night), it did a take while for our order to come around but there was constantly a server floating around to fill up water glasses. The 007 had extremely fresh salmon-- there was no fishy taste. The eel in the Caterpillar roll was very fatty and the fried soft shell crabs were also a delight. Highly highly recommend booking a reservation in advance and prepare yourself for a huge online menu. They have pages of alcohol options and many specialty rolls on top of entrees.
This has to be the best sushi spot in Seattle and maybe
This has to be the best sushi spot in Seattle and maybe ever. Honestly our bill was not that high compared to some other Seattle spots. We got a drink, two speciality rolls (12th Ave & Capitol Hill) and crispy rice. The quality, the taste - it exceeded all expectation. The ambiance in the back was so nice and our wait wasn't too long. Truly the only con I can find here is the level of service and server friendliness was lacking quite a bit. However, this is our new favorite spot and we will be coming back despite that for the incredible food.
The salmon skin roll is impressive- flavorful and crunchy.
Bits of flesh still on the skin. The best we've had. The spider roll was an explosion of taste and texture. The calamari was good as were the ribs. The sushi plate was fresh with great bite. The Wolfgirl was spectacular. I added a Sakura Sour which was clean, tasty and refreshing.
super cute place with a few different areas for dining, each
super cute place with a few different areas for dining, each with different lighting which was cool. We were seated in the garden area which was really cute. The service was pretty fast as well. We got the hamachi and spicy rainbow roll and also got the mochi ice cream they had for dessert. Everything tasted fresh and overall delicious, I have had better hamachi at other places but the roll was solid!
Excellent experience!!
The servers were amazing. The setting was superb. The sushi was extremely fresh and flavorful. The pricing was exceptionally reasonable! Enjoyed it a lot!
Great food, great service, great presentation!
Everyrhing is delicious. We were a big group so we ordered most appetizers and this place is beyond good. Seattle has a great food scene and this the proof! :)
Always fun to try a new Japanese restaurant.
My daughter had picked this restaurant out. She had been there before, we had a party of four for an early dinner. The restaurant is very nice looking. The food is excellent although I have had better sushi and the service is impeccable. We were a party of four and our bill was $130 for dinner. I would go back there again. Another neat thing is that they have an open kitchen and you can watch them working and they are amazing. Please make sure that you make a reservation.
Top notch service by Brendan
Wonderful dinner! Brendan at the SLU location was an amazing server. His service was top notch. The crispy calamari was delish!
Elegant and delicious
Relaxed yet elegant place for dinner. Wide variety of sushi and inventive cocktails. The location was beautiful with some tables located in a Japanese-style 'garden' in the center of the restaurant.
