Food is ok but way too overpriced for its quality and taste.
Sea bream was good. There was a veggie salad that's basically three four leaves, a plate of sauce, and way overpriced. Waiter was quite rude and impatient.

I would definitely recommend that any self proclaimed foodie stop here. We popped in this establishment to grab a drink, while we looked for a place to eat, but after entering the snug, dim lit restaurant we decided to this was the place. We luckily were able to grab a seat at the tiny bar as the tables were full. We started out with a few delicious cocktails (Negroni and the Mezcal Hemingway) while we perused the menu. We ended up ordering the oysters, pommes macaire, sarsuma endive pine nut and pecorino salad, and the steak frites. Each course lead to a greater anticipation of the next... until the steak frites. Honestly there was nothing " wrong " with the steak. It was cooked well and had a good texture but the sauce that was pored all over it subtracted from the steak itself. Also the wedge fries which were paired with the steak screamed English pub and not French faire. If there was something special about the fries I would understand the chefs decision to alter the traditional dish, but there was not. It was kind of sad that this was the final course of our night as it left much to be desired. But my 5 stars stands as every other dish was phenomenal, the service was exceptional, and the atmosphere was cozy.

Walking into MIMI, we've been warmly greeted by the highly energetic host/server/somm (whose name I regret escapes me or I'd tell you to ask for him but who am I kidding the place is cozy, there's only one person on per shift anyway). I would describe the whole vibe as sultry bistro. The menu changes constantly with well prepared and thoughtful seasonal offerings. Most recently, we had pomme macaire (a great fried/mashed hybrid and something of a menu staple), coq au vin croquettes (can't go wrong with a little fried stewed bird), lobster and leek with beurre blanc (the star of the show), and (to make sure we were full) closed out with tagliolini with maitakes and cassoulet, which was a delicious elegant sufficiency for our little party of 3. The wonderfully curated selection of natural French wine makes a perfect pairing and our server had great recommendations and knowledge to share. I also had a house martini that was properly cold, and, while I like the idea of Lillet in a martini for something a bit different, the wine list is the real star for me on drinks. All in all? Good vibes, great service, delicious food. What's not to like?
Be the first to ReplyThe servers have great personality that engages the diners.
The menu changes daily. The food is delicious & filling. Thoroughly enjoyed the lobster & leek; cassoulet and pasta & maitake dishes. Thanks you for a lovely evening.

Didn't like how you had to order the food all at once causing an unrelxaed pressure. Great spot to enjoy a bottle of wine, do not recommend for dinner. Atmosphere is great, dim lit and sexual. Waitor was very helpful however we did have a timelimit that was enforced. Very annoying.
Be the first to ReplyMimi would be pleased.
The lovely little cafe in Washington Square is just perfect. The menu is short but focused on delicious French cuisine with a New York twist. Funky 70's playlist. Great wine. Well prepared food served with a positive vibe. See you soon.
Be the first to ReplyExtremely claustrophobic.
The conversation of the table next to us dominated our meal. A trip down an extremely set of steep stairs to the bathrooms almost caused a collision with a food server. That experience brought what little portions of light bites from stomach to chest. After receiving the bill, a donation to one's favorite charity would have better fulfilled someone else. One of the worst dining experiences ever including bland $65 Dover Sole, a$150 bottle of wine with one glass knocked over because seating was as tight as sitting in a center seat of an airplane. The bread was fresh and great but not worth the experience.
Be the first to ReplyCharming, all around.
Flawless, relaxed friendly service & delicious food. We loved the clam dish so much, we ordered a second. This cute little restaurant is the perfect date spot.
Be the first to ReplyThis review is only for drinks since it seems like the food
This review is only for drinks since it seems like the food menu has changed a bit as per other Yelpers. Got drinks here before our dinner. MIMI is a small, intimate bar that's perfect for a date. We got the Suffering Bastard and French 75. They were yummy and the dimly lit atmosphere was cute.
Be the first to ReplyTLDR: good food, small space, mediocre service.
Didn't love how small the menu was. Only ordered 4 items and that was half the menu. Didn't leave feeling full. Wanted dessert, but our server never came around and after 45 minutes of waiting, we asked for the check. No desire to go back but the 4 items I had to were good (although small).
Be the first to ReplyExceptional food and ambiance.
Very sceney but not overdone. The pork chop was to die for and the crème brûlée was perfectly done. Would highly recommend
Be the first to ReplyWould recommend for drinks and apps or for a date.
The inside is really vibey, and they have a nice cocktail/ wine list. For food it was good, but more so small bites. I probably won't come back for dinner, but would come back for drinks inside!
Be the first to ReplyPerfect for drinks or a casual date.
The menu has changed a bit recently (more bar food type vs. a full dinner menu).

We dined at MIMI last night and it was a complete disappointment. We were caught off guard by the new menu because the restaurant is under new ownership. The menu is very abbreviated with only a roast chicken and fries ($40 for a half order) as you entree. You could also opt for a fired lamb or fried cauliflower sandwich. The cocktails were average and unfortunately the service was too. We will not be back and MIMI used to be our favorite little gem in the city. Time to find a new love...
Be the first to ReplyDon't come here for the food.
Tiny and very limited options, and nothing to write home about. The drinks were fine, but unexceptional, and the martinis were delivered in short rocks glasses. Tables are "cozy," which means they are too close. Might be a good place to meet a date at the bar, but anything else - pass.

I've dined at Mimi maybe four times in the years since it's opened, and every time I've been so grateful for the food I had and the service I experienced from the staff.I'm unclear what has changed in the last few months, but it appears some new management team has come in, fired the chef and replaced the staff. The menu is a quarter the size of what it used to be. New interpretations of classic French cuisine have been replaced by only two entrees: a roast chicken and a sandwich.... I imagine they assumed no one would notice that the core concept of the restaurant has been gutted and replaced with food you could get and pay a quarter of the price for at Grey Dog Cafe a few blocks north. But regardless, the prices are still the same.Liz Johnson would be ashamed of what has happened to this place. I genuinely just don't get it. They should probably shut this place down and call it a day.

Really excellent little (super cute and small) spot Serving traditional French plates and an amazing roast chicken.Ate in their pretty tight indoor space and really enjoyed the oysters and also super great chicken liver mousse and pork rilletes. Sourdough was warm and fresh and the roast chicken was definitely a highlight.Even snacked on a few spiced pumpkin seeds which were unique.Overall an excellent meal and a great experience. Thanks MIMI.

A friend recommended MIMI for a meet up with a former colleague. I used to live in New York and have lost the pulse of the city. I had a great time! The wait staff was super cute and very accommodating. It is a TINY restaurant, but the blonde waitress got us a table. Super intimate, super cute. Made me miss New York in the best way!
Be the first to ReplyDelicious! Went for my 2 year anniversary dinner.
Great food. Small menu but everything on it is well done. Get the burnt cheesesteak. Don't think twice. Feels like youre in Paris.
Be the first to ReplyHad a lovely dinner, with great service.
The cocktails (and the bartender) are really worth going for alone. I'm giving 5 stars because I would recommend and go back. BUT, the host. We walked in and we're ready to have an bad time, because of the rudeness of the hostess. She just looked like she was being forced to work there and didn't want to be there and didn't want us to be there. We had such a nice time besides that but it watching her attitude and her on her phone became dinner and show. Loved Mimi! Hopefully next time we go she won't be working... yikes.
Be the first to ReplyI made a reservation for a table of two, one week in
I made a reservation for a table of two, one week in advance, and upon arrival our table wasn't ready. They said that they had overbooked and "given our table to one of their VIP members". We booked an indoor table, but was instead offered one of the tables out on the sidewalk (not even in the covered area) or bar seating, even though there were 3 tables that cleared up while we were waiting. Through it all, the hostess was so dismissive and rude, saying we could "take it or leave it" when we asked for an empty table in the back - as if she was doing us a favor by even offering us a table at all even though we had it reserved for us.
Be the first to ReplyThe crudo, dauphinoise, and canard roti were all delicious.
Love to see a simple, single-page menu.
Be the first to Replyalways a treat to stop by.
the place is quaint and niche without trying and the dishes are always flavorful. this particular time i had the vermont quail with foie gras, cherry and farrow. my friends had the cabbage, duck confit and eel and all were memorable. the wine selection is on the smaller side but they are each considered. nothing says romance like a show at village vanguard and dinner at MIMI.

This restaurant is quite a little gem! Everything we ordered was fantastic- starting with the cocktails, the dauphinois potato with smoked eel (so delicious), the quail with foie gras and cherries on farro (seriously- heavenly), and the wagyu NY strip steak with chanterelle and black truffles (I don't eat beef, but husband thoroughly enjoyed it). Finished off the meal with espresso martinis and a warm chocolate fondant with a cognac caramel sauce and a chantilly cream - a perfect end to one of the best meals we've had in NYC in many years. With the soft music playing in the background, I felt like I was on a quiet street in Paris. Service was friendly and welcoming. We can't wait to return!

I was looking forward to a reservation I had set I had with two couples last week. Unfortunately, I had to cancel because my family came into town as a birthday surprise. I cancelled about 5 hours beforehand and called and emailed. I was charged $100 for a late cancel and they absolutely said they won't reverse it. I understand the impact of reservations and that they are important but to charge someone $100 after they let you know they can't attend it truly upsetting. I haven't event tried the food but this place left a bad taste in my mouth.
