Really interesting twists on classic Chinese dishes and they all taste great! The staff are really attentive and friendly. Will definitely come back again!!

Milu is a pretty unique spot for fast and casual Chinese food. They have a good mix of classic dishes with a modern twist. It's a self service type of restaurant where you order up front and you get to sit anywhere you want. The place is so cute and the tables and seating actually look so comfortable. Milu is right by my office, so I decided to grab lunch to go. I ordered ahead on their website and the staff was actually very punctual with the pickup time, which is a huge plus during the lunch rush hour. I went with the Chili Crisp Chicken bowl for the day. The portion doesn't look huge for the price, but it was actually quite filling. The chicken was fried nice, crispy, and wasn't really that spicy. The chicken with the scallion mayo on the side is such a great pairing. There were tons of fresh veggies and the tofu seaweed salad was so refreshing to mix with everything. I don't know why it took me this long to try Milu, but it is now on my list of quick office lunches.
Be the first to ReplyGood flavor, some things reasonable, the duck is a joke.
$35 entree gets you a hamburger patty and a half of oily meat. Pic posted with standard table spoon and the sauce container for size perspective.
Be the first to ReplyTLDR: This is everything you could want out of a fast
TLDR: This is everything you could want out of a fast casual spot. FOOD: This spot generally is a place for bowls, that come with a protein and veggies on top of rice. I shared two different bowls with my boyfriend. We got the salmon with ginger and scallion on multigrain rice, which was a very good. It reminded me of a Chinese inspired dish my stepdad makes, which comes with a cold ginger sauce. I quite like this dish and would get again. It also had great charred broccoli. The brisket dish was the other bowl we shared. I was less enthused by this one, I thought the brisket was good, but at some parts over flavored. It is spicy, but the flavors weren't really for me. I also wasn't a big fan of the cucumber salad - which is odd, considering I quite like cucumber salad usually. We also got the broccoli and mushroom wontons, which were pretty disappointing. There was very little flavor in the wontons - would not order again. AMBIANCE: The spot is really cute. It's a fast casual space so you seat yourself, there are several tables and a few booths against the wall. The booths are comfortable and have fabric cushions on them. I think the place is decorated nicely and is a really cute spot. SERVICE: Again, it's fast casual, so you order at the counter and see yourself. Overall, I did find the people very nice and willing to explain what was on the venue. No complaints. OVERALL: Tasty, but seems to depend on what you order. Fast, cute, reasonably priced - will be back for the salmon!

Came here to try the egg tart soft serve in the Winter and I'm so glad I did. The soft serves was so flavorful as it tasted exactly like egg tart. It was so refreshing and did not leave a bad after tastes in my mouth. The egg tart puffs were added on also. Super yummy! Definitely one of the most memorable items I've had in New York.
Be the first to ReplyThis was the perfect place for dinner after Fotografiska
This was the perfect place for dinner after Fotografiska museum. There was no wait on Saturday 6 PM, and we got really good service. But more importantly, the food was on point. Egg tart soft serve - they nailed the ice cream's base flavor. it did feel like eating egg tart in ice cream form, and it made for a good finisher. Turnip Tots - simple, but executed perfectly. It had just the right crisp without being overcooked, and none of the pieces were limp. Chili crisp chicken - another well-executed dish, from the spiced aroma to the flavorful bite. Soy roasted chicken - the dark meat chicken could've been a tad more juicy, but the portion was generous, and the flavors were pretty good. Chinese greens - a good veggie side to balance out the fried foods we had. Waffled scallion pancake - this was ok, and I wouldn't get it next time. Taste-wise, I would rather have a flaky scallion pancake, but at least this was a cute dish.

Their egg custard soft serve was pretty good and the puff pastries tasted like an egg custard shell. They also serve actual food, and will come back to try

Great spot fast casual! From the Eleven Madison Park alum Connie Chung - it is a casual Chinese cuisine. I have heard amazing things about the Peking duck on a bed of fluffy rice and marinated cucumbers, and I ended up opting for the shrimp bowl which was amazingly complimented with a spicy kale salad, the crispy chili chicken bowl which had the large t amount of spice, and the egg tart softserve which most definitely was my favorite! The family-style menu is around $45 for two people and is a great takeout option as well!!

Amazing lunch spot! I've eaten 10+ times and can recommend their soy chicken and salmon. Get the chili crisp chicken (wings or lunch) when available on special - it's amazing (and spicy)
Be the first to ReplyThe service was great, so it pains me to say that the food
The service was great, so it pains me to say that the food was only so-so. The duck was way overcooked and its batter was oily and heavy. The pork and cabbage wontons were not good, and I didn't finish them -- I **never** don't finish dumplings. The waffle scallion pancake was tasty and fun, and I liked the marinated beef and the cucumbers that came with the mains.

Seems like they imported a genius Asian chef and instead of giving a high end restaurant, placed him or her in this simple unassuming restaurant with no glamor, great vibe and reasonable prices. DEFINITELY TRY THIS PLACE!
Be the first to ReplyReally fast service and really quality food.
It has a really nice vibe inside the store as well. The food itself was flavorful and didn't feel unhealthy or heavy at all
Be the first to ReplyInstantly transported to Hong Kong.
The green tile was everything and so was the chocolate custard pineapple bun, chili crisp chicken and egg tart soft serve. I will definitely be coming back next time I'm in the area. Staff was also very nice.

Really fresh quality greens on the brisket bowl (LOOOOVE watercress, especially purple watercress), and really good flavor! Only downside for me was that the meat was tough and the oil/dressing, while delicious, DESTROYED by weak lil stomach; next time may ask for sauce on the side! I want to try the other bowls but I'm also scared for myself. Time will tell if I play with fire again haha fast easy delivery, a bit pricey but made my work day apart from feeling like shit after lol
Be the first to ReplyI've passed this place multiple times and had no idea it
I've passed this place multiple times and had no idea it existed or that it was even a modern Chinese restaurant. Unassuming from the outside, can barely see inside and it has a unique yet traditional door. Once you step inside, you enter another world. Cozy charm, quaint, hints of modern with tradition sprinkled through details with the flooring, seating, tables and general decor. Line gets long after 12PM for prime lunch rush but it moves fairly quick. If you place an order to stay, they give you a stand and number and you pick your seat. There are plastic cups on the side for water. Chopsticks and napkins are available at each table. Food came out really fast and fresh. Soy chicken bowl was good with a bed of rice (cooked okay), broccoli, side of greens and generous ratio of chicken to rice. I love that it came with a large portion of ginger scallion sauce - one of my favorite sauces to go with soy sauce chicken at Chinese restaurants. There is a staff member that goes around to collect plates if you've finished your meal and cleans up the tables. Very clean and organized. Tried the egg tart soft serve. Not bad. I love the texture of the soft swerve - creamy yet slightly icy. It doesn't really remind me of egg tart but it will do. It has a semi sweet, salty and sour taste in each bite. Refreshing after a meal.

Super fast service and delicious food for the price of a Chipotle/Sweetgreen. Milu is an awesome casual modernized Chinese restaurant with flavorful and filling items. There was no wait time on a a Friday so also a good place to go if you have no reservations and want to grab a meal with a friend. The Mandarin duck bowl had great sides and the duck fat rice was delicious. The bowl came with a hoisin sauce but I personally preferred eating the duck sans sauce. I liked how they were able to do half sesame and half egg tart for the ice cream as well. The egg tart didn't taste like egg tart (mainly just vainly) but the black sesame had a great strong sesame taste that reminded me of a tangyuan (chinese glutinous rice ball dessert). It was served with mochi as well which made my friend and I deem the dessert an inverted tangyuan. All in all, great food and service and concept! Highly recommend
Be the first to ReplyEasily to miss it when you walk past if you don't this
Easily to miss it when you walk past if you don't this place. I was here with coworkers for lunch and surprised I didn't know about place right cross my office building. Very nice interior decor, if feels like a quick escape from work to a relaxing mini paradise. In terms of the food, I think it quite smart to westernize some Chinese food. If you are looking for some traditional and typical Chinese food, this is not the place. I got Mandarin Duck bowl which contains a few pieces fried duck with rice, cucumber and veggie salad. The cucumber is so crunchy and flavorful which reminds me those cucumber appetizer served in Chinese restaurant. Salad is fresh which includes thin slices of celery and some cilantro. I know some people may not like cilantro but I like it and I think it went well to add some flavor to the bowl. Duck is ok but I would prefer if it's warm. My coworker got brisket bowl and I tired piece of the brisket. The flavor is so good but the meat is too fatty. The dumpling is all right. It's more like a cold dish. The chili sauce is yummy and decent to dip in the dumplings.Overall, it's a nice place to chill for lunch break. Good to have some healthy Chinese food in the area.
Be the first to ReplyNice fast casual spot in the area.
Cool menu, neat and clean venue, and great dessert and soft serve.
Be the first to ReplyThis place really hits the spot for some of the more
This place really hits the spot for some of the more authentic Chinese food around the area. My friend and I got the soy roasted chicken and it came with a generous portion of the delicious ginger scallion sauce that I love. In Chinatown it usually comes in a small little sauce container but here they give you a decent size sauce dish if it. The charred broccoli was a great addition to the rice bowl and all together it just reminded me of a good home cooked meal. I will definitely be returning again and I highly recommend Milu for some Chinese comfort food.
Be the first to ReplyObsessed with this Chinese fast casual place! The interior
Obsessed with this Chinese fast casual place! The interior is clean and modern, and it was so difficult to decide what to order because everything on the menu looks delicious. I had the chili crisp chicken bowl and sheeeeeeeeesh it was incredible! The scallion mayo perfectly balanced out the crispiness and spiciness of the chicken as did the tofu seaweed salad. You wouldn't normally think "fried chicken" when it comes to Chinese food but definitely give it a try because it has amazing flavor and texture. Colonel Sanders could never...
Be the first to ReplyThis is a really good lunch or dinner spot.
I've tried a few of the bowl options including the duck and salmon and both were delicious. My one complaint is that many of the items have cilantro which I am not a fan of. The almond soft serve is so delicious and it goes great with the cherry and almond slices they top it with.
Be the first to ReplyI had high expectations for the Chinese inspired soft serve
I had high expectations for the Chinese inspired soft serve flavors and made a trip specifically for the ice cream, but it was a disappointment. The ice cream is creamy but the flavor is lacking. We had the egg tart and almond flavor. The milk tea flavor was not on the menu. The egg tart includes flaky cookies as toppings. The almond flavor has a cherry, a bit of cherry syrup, and bitter almonds. The egg tart one did have much of an egg tart flavor besides just being sweet, a bit too sweet. The almond one tastes like almond cookies and I thought has better flavors but I hate bitter almonds. Not a big fan of either.

We ordered the family style for 2 which comes with mandarin duck, szechuan cauliflower, white rice, duck fat rice, marinated cucumber, tofu seaweed salad, watercress salad and cookies.Overall was pretty good. The mandarin duck was soggy though, I thought it would be crispy. Everything else was good and interesting. The duck fat rice was like hainanese rice. The portion was huge! This whole thing fed the 4 of us!
Be the first to ReplyReally cute and quiet place.
The interior design was beautiful and elegant. I came to try their egg tart soft serve and I was not disappointed. I love that they have mini sized puff pastries to compliment the ice cream as well as make it look more aesthetic. I do wish the ice cream had a little more egg tart flavor and more puff pastry. However, it was still good nonetheless!
Be the first to ReplyI'm sorry if you like authentic or delicious Chinese food,
I'm sorry if you like authentic or delicious Chinese food, you will not like it here. First off, for a fast casual lunch spot the portions are half of what you would expect. The proteins are just weird and inauthentic tasting. The wontons were dry and much worse than frozen dumplings. Everyone raves about the duck, but it was pretty bland and boring. The yuzu drink was good, but the food was the worst I've ever had in New York City. Thank you for ruining my day. And my reputation for giving recommendations.
