We came here for my bday 2 years ago and it was one of the best meals Ive eaten in LA. Last night we returned with a couple who are business associates. I have to say I rarely give 5 stars but this was an exceptional meal. We had crispy tuna app, mushroom tempura, broccolini in chili sauce, the special whole fish with a sizzling sauce poured on at the table, flat noodles schewan style with short ribs, the crab fried rice. Everything was exceptional. The service was excellent and very attentive. thank you for an excellent experience.

The chef coming to speak to us personally at the table was an amazing compliment to phenomenal food, service and ambiance. I can not wait to come back to stay at the Pendry again and eat at Merois! Lastly, THE PEKING DUCK, AMAZING!!!!!!

Ambiance is great , service and food are outstanding ! Atmosphere: Really cool date spot. The inside is beautiful. It's paired with an amazing view of Los Angeles. Worth it to go for dinner to experience the view at night.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing!.
The Asian fusion menu has a wide variety. Small dish sizes makes you taste many things on menu. We had the broccolini, spicy chicken dumplings, Beef skewers and Baby ribs. All with a mix of spices such as chili, peanut, garlic, cilantro and ginger. Started the meal with a pre dinner cocktail. Also top notch. Had to try desserts. Service very high from Brenda as server to host greeting and manager checking in on us. When it comes to the ambience I don't need to say it. Rooftop with panoramic views of the city. Cool interiors and perfect lighting. A must do in LA!

Food, service and aesthetics were fantastic! I came here directly from the London Hotel Industry Event and I was pleasantly surprised. The whole fried fish, jasmine rice, fingerling potatoes and NY steak was so mouthwatering. Also I never new how much I loved pistachio ice cream until this evening. I will absolutely be back!

The dining experience offered good, albeit pricey, Asian cuisine with an air of sophistication and authentic flavors. Despite the slightly inflated prices and the hefty automatic $280 service charge tip, the food was commendable. The toro tartar stood out for its deliciousness, and the hibachi dishes were thoroughly enjoyed by our party of 8, who sampled a variety of items from the menu.

5 rounded to 4 Wow, from when we went up the elevator to the entrance to the view. We did the valentines menu and the ambiance to the service was just so romantic and beautiful. There was a photographer going around taking polaroids of you in front of the flowers and a violinist too! The appetizers included mushroom spring rolls, nigiri, crispy rice, and oysters. They were all delicious, but it didn't feel unique to the restaurant. For the entree, we received the NY steak and lobster in curry. The lobster was so plump, beautifully presented, and the curry was my favorite thing that night. The steak was cooked perfectly as well, but the sauce was similar to a honey mustard from McDonalds and the fried rice was a bit .. bland? It was also pretty spicy but that's just what it tasted like. Spicy rice. The dessert was so cute, it was a chocolate ball with some coconut mousse thing inside. Such great flavors, I loved every second of it. I was a bit sad of how they ended our experience (below) The photographer finally came by during dessert and we decided to take a Polaroid of us by the entrance. We then come back to our table being cleaned up, they took our plates and drinks that were full so we just stood there awkwardly as they set up a new table We stood there for a while looking for our server but the manager came by and escorted us to the waiting area outside. After a while, they handed our check for our drinks and extras we got. There was a service fee on our check which is fine, but we didn't know if we still needed to add gratuity from the dinner (which was paid online beforehand, and there was also a service fee on that too) The service kind of fell off at the end, and the food was amazing but nothing too spectacular or unique

Came here for an early birthday celebration and I was so impressed by the restaurant that I had to write a review. The ambience is cute and intimate with the majority of seating being booths. We got seated at a corner booth by the windows so we got a great view of the city. We got the Peking Duck, Whole Sizzling Fish, & Crispy Rice Tuna Rolls-- definitely more than enough food for 2. Although the fish was our favorite dish, the Peking Duck stole the show; we got to see them carve the duck in front of us and there was not a single part of the duck wasted. The dish comes with vegetables & scallion pancakes to make your own wrap and the remaining parts of the duck are used in a sticky rice dish. Everything was so yummy and such great quality, but the PORTIONS!! Everything was 100% worth the price and we can't get over it. Our server, Brenda, was also so lovely and she made the experience so much more enjoyable than it already was. She took care of us and coursed out our meal + hid our birthday cake from the birthday boy as well. Definitely a must on Sunset! Can't wait to see this place blow up!

My date took me to this spot for post Valentine's Day celebration. As soon as we arrived and managed to find the elevator leading up to the roof top where the restaurant is located, we were met with a beautiful LA city view. We were led to our cozy booth and our server was nothing short than amazing. He gave us recommendations on wine and food pairings which we tried out and did not disappoint. All the food was delicious with an array of deep flavors that included Japanese, South Asian and French cuisine. We will definitely be back to celebrate more special occasions!

Beautiful covered rooftop dining experience inside a gorgeous hotel. I made a reservation in advance and we were given the perfect booth with perfect views for our wedding anniversary dinner. The waitress was on top of everything, she gave us great menu recommendations and was fun to chat with as well. All of my cocktails were unique and delicious and so were the dishes. I love the overall ambience as well. Chic, smart, and kinda funky. Plus the views! Shumai w/black truffle 8/10 Spicy tuna crispy rice 10/10 Tempura veggies 10/10 dynamite! This was one of the best culinary experiences I had in a long time. The place is gorgeous. Beautiful views. Great service. The hamachi was excellent. The crispy rice crab salad.. the best part of our meal! The sizzling branzino: delicious show stopper. Crispy rice tuna belly tartare, delicious. Wine selection, fantastic. One thing we did not really care for, and I know it's a crowd pleaser, the fried kung Pau cauliflower. Did not taste the cauliflower. And I love cauliflower. But with the frying and the sauce, It could have been a sweet and sour chicken , beef etc. But overall, an amazing culinary experience with spectacular beautiful views of LA.
Be the first to Replyfood was fine.
view are beautifu. I do not recommend simply because it's the most expensive parking in Los Angeles. $40 is just stupid. wouldn't go back because of that

Merois has always been on our list for cocktails (yes - the view is more than worth it) but Ospero in the first floor of Pendry hotel remained our choice for dinner. Rinse and repeat: cocktails at Merois and dinner Ospero. Until our friends came to LA and ... with some reservation all of us headed to Merois for dinner. Why we never had dinner at Merois? The menu suggested an attempt to highlight Pan-Asian cuisine with California influence - a very tall order. But we believe in Wolfgang Puck who we met several times at Spago. Spago has been and still is an institution. Hamachi Tartar: predictably superb because yellowtail carries such a buttery strength that the level of excellence is easy to achieve. A+.Perigord Truffle Shumai: lacked unique flavor with an unusually firm and tough texture. Even a small amount of truffles on top failed to elevate it. C- Spanish Octopus: good but could be a lot better. The octopus was tender but the sweet sauce just overwhelmed the dish. C-Red Thai Curry: one of the highlights. B+Chicken Meatballs: followed the food steps of Perigord Truffle Shumai: dry and lacking any memorable flavors. C-We found service to be very attentive but even such service cannot make up for the food failing to meet expectations. The verdict: Merois is still struggling to achieve its potential. Enjoy the cocktails at Merois bar and have dinner at Ospero. It's what we should have done (again).
Be the first to ReplyThis is a Wolfgang Puck restaurant that infuses different
This is a Wolfgang Puck restaurant that infuses different Asian foods with European influences. Although to many people that have eaten some of the major cultural foods of Asia such as Peking Duck, Panang curry, and Xio Long Baos will be no stranger to the vehicle on which the flavors arrive, the food is still any interesting twist on Asian food as a whole, albeit some better than others.Initially I saw this place and wanted to try it because it was nearing Valentines Day and the restaurant had a nice view of Los Angeles. My partner and I also like trying interesting restaurants that invent or innovate. I was a little hesitant because I figured an Asian restaurant backed by a white man in his 70-80s doesn't sound very promising. Also, when reviewing their menu, I found some...interesting names for cocktails, mainly the one called the Samurai Sword. The name is...a little cliche and it frankly sounds like something a 12-year old came up with. However, we decided to give it a chance.Valentine's Day had a prefix menu which I understood is a thing but I was a little disappointed because I wanted to try a couple of things on the full menu. But no matter, I was cautiously optimistic about their prefix. We wait about 10 minutes for our reservation in which we ordered a couple drinks. Solid. We were moved to a booth inside and the space looked beautiful. We were greeted by I believe his name was Desmond? and he was the star of the night. He was attentive and he made sure we had a special night. Here's the break down of the food:Kusshi oysters with passion fruit mignonette:I love oysters but I'm not going to pretend I know anything beyond the surface level. The passion fruit mignonette added a nice tartness.Bluefin Tuna toro on crispy rice:This was possibly the least innovative starter. This dish reminded me of the times I'd go to AYCE sushi spots in my younger days and we'd fill up on appetizers like this while waiting for the actual sushi to arrive. I figured it'd be different than the others but, sure enough, it tasted pretty much the same as all the others I've tried.Wild mushroom egg roll:Not going to lie, after the crispy rice I was not expecting much but the egg rolls were probably my favorite starter. Nice chew from the mushrooms, crispy egg roll exterior, and the sauce was pretty good.Shang Jian Bao:Decent. Nothing too innovative but executed well and flavorful. Now to our entrees--we had the Shanghai Lobster and the Red Curry.Shanghai Lobster:This curry dish was okay, but was overshadowed by the red curry. Typically, this dish comes with rice, greens, and the lobster itself, and the lobster meat. However, our dish did not come with a lobster. We actually inquired about it to staff who told us he would look into it. He went to talk to a manager but he never came back our way and we noticed he actively avoided us the rest of the night. Manager did not say anything and when we mentioned it to our server Desmond?, he comped us for a steak. We wouldn't have taken the steak but I was in a pretty hungry mood so I had to take it. Speaking of the steak...NY Steak with Honey Mustard sauce:I usually don't order steaks just because I feel like there are only so many things you can do to a steak. I like my steaks on the simpler side. However, this steak was perfectly cooked and came with a side of brocollini which had a nice, slightly sweet sauce. The honey mustard great and complimented the steak well.Red curry:This was actually my favorite entree. The freshness of the papaya salad offset the richness of the curry. There was a good amount of prawns and snapper. The curry flavor was a bit sharper than the Shanghai lobster's and a bit more memorable.Sakura mousse + lychee sorbet in a dark chocolate sphere and mini lava cakes:The Sakura and lychee flavors were interesting. It was a fun little dessert to end our dinner.Overall:1. I thought our server was great minus the incident about the lobster that was swept under the rug and forgotten about by the manager.2. Some of the foods were good, some felt haphazardly tacked on to fill the prefix menu3. The ambiance was great--this is a beautiful venue. Initially we were worried because it's right next to the pool for the Pendry but once you enter the restaurant, it is elegant and in this case, romantic.I feel that maybe I might try this place again through their regular menu. I feel that some of the menu items can deviate a bit more to make the food more interesting to people who have eaten an assortment of different Asian foods, but it is still good nonetheless.

We had a wonderful experience celebrating my sister's birthday. The food was delicious! Highly recommend the baby back ribs. YUM! Brenda was also an incredible server and we will definitely be coming back soon!

My husband made reservations for us to celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary. I had always wanted to try this restaurant and I'm so glad we finally did. We were lucky enough to find parking on Sunset Boulevard and went through a maze-like entrance to the rooftop pool. From there it was easy to find the restaurant. We got there a bit before the sunset so it was beautiful watching it against the skyscrapers in the background. After checking in with the host we were promptly seated at our table. Many items on the menu sounded good so we decided to try a whole variety. We started with three different kinds of sashimi. The salmon was incredible followed by the hamachi and then the tuna. Next we got foie gras bao buns and lobster spring rolls. Both of them (although still delicious) weren't as great as the sashimi. Next came the crispy peking duck which was the star dish. Its meant for two but I assume thats if you don't get anything else as we had so much left over. Lastly we were surprised with a beautiful and delicious anniversary dessert. Overall the food and service was phenomenal. I can't wait to be back and try some more dishes. Such a memorable night!

All around fantastic service but my favorite part had to be the view. I've been in LA for 22 years and this is my favorite restaurant view thus far. Perfect for a special occasion. There's also a bar on the rooftop so you can start or end your evening here, too. Now, on to manifest more special occasions...Tip: the valet parking must be approached on Olive from Sunset (not south of it, bc the north part of Olive street is one way.) We managed to drive around the block a couple times to figure out because the Google Map seems to use the Sunset street address on the sidewalk. Parking was also unreasonably expensive. Would be nice if they were cool about that. This is not Manhattan.
Be the first to ReplyCould not be more impressed with a new restaurant.
But wouldn't expect anything less from Puck. Beautiful room, people, food. We ordered the Salmon Sashimi, Spicy Chicken Dumplings as starters. The Dumplings are a win. For the mains we had the old reliable Shanghai Lobster (so good!) and the Crab Fried Rice. For desert the Marjolaine - amaze balls. Even got to shake hands with ole Wolfgang himself. Professionals who know what they are doing. Just go.

Getting to the restaurant itself was like going through an escape room. It was fun discovering the different things inside the Pendry hotel. The server was nice and and the atmosphere here was very calm since it was a Sunday night. We got seated at a booth that faced towards their floor to ceiling view which was a nice touch. We started off with the blue fin tuna sashimi and the pan seared spanish octopus. Both were really good appetizers, but the octopus stood out with it's texture and unique flavor. We were curious to see how well they cooked their octopus here and we were not disappointed. Our waitress then offered us an off menu 30oz tomahawk for our main. We had it medium on the inside and medium well on the outside to give it some crunch. The steak was amazing 5/5 I would get this when I come back. They were even nice enough to give us complementary cake to celebrate me and my girlfriend's anniversary! Very nice touchOverall 5/5 I can't wait to come back.

2 stars for views... Condescending waiter who commented on how few dishes we ordered and was pushing us to keep ordering more right away and not wait until we knew if we'd like something else.Disjointed service overall, felt like this place just opened and nothing is clicking yetFood, oh boy! Was very excited to try everything and it all spectacularly failed. Most dishes we had seemed be taste the same, same sauce perhaps? The grilled octopus came as a beautiful pile of potatoes and octopus, except for there were three (3) tiny pieces of octopus and the rest were potatoes... at $30, seems light on the main ingredient, even for the trendy spot of the day. I can go on but it would just be mean at this point.Save yourself the trouble and go elsewhere...
Be the first to ReplyOne star for the atmosphere only.
We came here last night & expected what we paid for but nothing was up to par. It's a great vibe but the food is not good, they had to remake our cocktails 3-4 times to get it right it was just off. Some people around us didn't even drink their cocktails. We got the tomahawk steak that was definitely not 30oz. Expensive for the quality and portions and the worst of all it took 35 mins for our valet to arrive for some odd reason. Everyone else's arrived even those who came after us. Anyways, we were hoping we would have a good experience maybe just an off night. Lots of other spots worth it, this wasn't.

Really interested to try this restaurant since I've been seeing it on Instagram nonstop. The ambiance is very relaxing, kind of a speakeasy vibe. The drinks were great and the menu was typical Wolfgang Puck style- limited but you know you're going to be getting the freshest ingredients in those dishes. The view was spectacular of course, and the service was excellent!
