So Pretentious, So Sorely Disappointed...
I made a reservation to take my 20 year old, freshly home from college daughter for a special welcome home meal at Marta. We were both very much looking forward to a lovely evening out but instead were greeted by a snobby, unwelcoming hostess upon arrival who gave us a pretentious once-over as we entered in from the rain. Strike One. Once we were seated at lovely corner table for two, my daughter left to use the restroom and returned with a sour expression on her face saying she was glared at by the kitchen and serving staff as she attempted to make her way to the restroom (which she never did, as she felt so uncomfortable). Strike Two. When the haughty hostess returned to take our drink order, I inquired about the NA menu; she curtly stated, "the ingredients are listed on the menu." No assistance, no offer to directly answer my question. Strike Three. To be clear, it was a 5:30pm reservation and the restaurant was not busy. Never have I felt so unwelcome at a restaurant. Perhaps we were not their desired demographic. My daughter and I gathered our purses and left, never to return. Of course I had read all the wonderful reviews and went on a personal recommendation. We were sorely, sorely disappointed.
Be the first to ReplyLively family joint.
Right from the beginning you know you are in a good place. There is a very lively vibe. You get helped right away and the service is really friendly. They have a big and diverse menu. The food is really good and (for New York standards) not pricey. It is wise to book ahead otherwise you might have to wait a few minutes before a table is available.
Be the first to ReplyMargherita Pizza
Two courses for Summer Restaurant Week and my choice was an appetizer of Suppli Al Salumi of risotto croquettes and Margherita Pizza. The suppli was filling and the pizza was delicious as always. Service was friendly and efficient. Over the decades I ate here several times. Today news came out that Marta is closing late August. I am returning next week for another lunch and to bid adieu to a fine restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyFabulous food and great atmosphere
We stumbled across this restaurant while touring New York. They accommodated 2 adults and 2 children no problem even though it was busy. We tried the steak and the pizzas and everything was delicious. Staff were attentive, the decor and ambience was lovely. Excellent experience.
Be the first to ReplyGreat spot for dinner with friends
Met friends here for dinner while visiting NYC. Reservations essential, but was possible to make one just a couple of days in advance. Cool spot in a hip hotel. Tall ceilings in the dining room; casual atmosphere, but with some elegance. Loved the buzz, but it's a little too loud; it was sometimes hard to hear my friends during our conversation due to the level of noise. Same for the server! Server was helpful and attentive, with a nice sense of humor. Applying menu: a handful of appetizers, three nice salads, some entrees, and 8-10 pizzas, about 6 slices each, with elevated but classic Italian ingredients. Food was delicious: a fresh arugula salad, a solidly-made Margherita pizza, a really good pizza with Italian meats that had subtle spice, and a really good mushroom pizza with real earthiness. Great cocktails, too. A nice spot for an easy, casual dinner in an elevated atmosphere with friends. Open late, too!

Went to Marta's for our last night in NYC and glad we did. Our pizza's were fresh, very tasty and with a wonderful thin base that didn't leave us feeling bloated. Great atmosphere and surprisingly busy for a Monday night. We hadn't booked, but were warmly greeted on arrival and a table found in 5 mins. Service was just right - attentive but not in your face - we were never waiting for beer top-up. We both felt this was a great way to end what had been a busy trip and would happily recommend.

Food and service were very good. A bit pricey but reasonable for the area. We enjoyed a leisurely family meal on a Sunday afternoon.
Be the first to ReplyNice pizza
Enjoyed a pit stop here for some pizza!! Lovely pizza if a tad expensive. We only had 2 pizza and a drink each and the bill was well over $70. Staff very attentive.
Be the first to ReplyAvoid if you can better options elsewhere. Poor value for money. Pizza quality below par and wine very poor value.
Sadly x 4 pizzas were burnt around the edges due to the thin crust being made too thin. The red and white wine is very overpriced and should have a third knocked off the price honestly its such low quality wine and so is the pizza compared to what else you can get. The noise is so overwhelming and you cannot hear other people speak at your table due to the lack of investment in the architecture of the building. This is really a place to avoid, look carefully at the other reviews on the noise its a real turn off.

Booked for Christmas lunch. Found via Google search ‘gluten free Xmas dinner new York’ as middle child celiac. Menu looked good but when arrived discovered only gluten free options were meat dishes or salad. My wife ordered pizza which was overpowering with Parmesan and our steak although tasty was cold. Side orders delivered 10min after mains. Service was slow, inattentive. We traveled from uk for Xmas break and extremely disappointed with meal and service. Would not recommend. It was busy but does not excuse poor options or service
Be the first to ReplyGood food but at extra cost
Pizzas were delicious and ambiance is cozy. Giving a 3 star review since we received very little marinara with the calzone. Charging your customers an additional $5 for a 2nd small bowl of marinara is a bit ridiculous IMHO. Suggestion: provide a bigger bowl of marinara and make the calzone more expensive by a few bucks

Dinner inside is deafening! Needed subtitles to hear my friends. Big salads serve two. Pizzas, 6 slices, still delicious.
Be the first to ReplyWedding celebration
Held a family gathering there to celebrate my son’s wedding and Marta handled everything beautifully. From booking to dessert, the staff was terrific, the food was delicious, the atmosphere was exciting and everyone had a good time. The mezzanine was the perfect location for our group.
Be the first to ReplySimply not good enough and overpriced.
Oke-ish but hardly any attention or guest friendlyness. The limited menu is attractive however expensive. The (open) kitchen looks fantastic. The rest of the restaurant including lighting and fixtures are messy, dusty, partly not working and not up to standard. Last but not least; it was cold inside, although nice temperature outside. Overpriced!!!!

I've been going here for years and the food, service, atmosphere and wine list are always top-notch. I took my friend here for her birthday and we both received such a warm welcome from Mike, the GM. We sat at the bar and the bartenders were also very friendly. The food was fresh and delicious. My favorite pizza is the stracciatella, cheesy with a thin crispy crust... delicious!! I found an interesting bottle of red wine from a small producer in Campania that went perfectly with the food. Alyssa, the sommelier, was so attentive and knowledgeable—she even checked back with us to make sure we were still enjoying the wine with our food. All in all, a great night out at Marta.
Be the first to ReplyMother’s Day dinner
A very posh hotel dining room with open kitchen . We sat in the middle and were able to see the kitchen staff cooking . The fungi cracker thin pizza and the pepperoni pizza amazing . First time eating cracker thin pizza . So so tasty . Also the creamed potatoes very well done . I requested espresso martini with a dollop of fresh cream with a hint of cayenne pepper and the amazed waiter obliged . The best martini experience I had . Loved the whole Mother’s Day dinner . Definitely will visit again when in the big Apple again

What a cool spot! The space is large and very attractive with super high ceilings, a mezzanine area, main dining and two bar areas - the pizza counter and 'the bar' (where we sat). Our server was super nice, and the food was really tasty. We had the margherita pizza...now, we are napoli-style pizza snobs so when we order a margherita pie we expect the traditional thin - not crisp - crust. This is more of a flatbread crispy style but the toppings were very fresh and delicious and for a crispy crust pie it was very tasty! We also had the spring suppli - nice little rolls of english peas, pecorino, course black pepper and mozzerella. We also had the garlic nots with pecorino, oregano w/ a marinara sauce. We enjoyed it all and will definitely return! Grea
Be the first to ReplyGood for pizzas but limited overall menu.
A good pizza experience and the food in general is quite creative. However, the options on the menu are very limited and the kitchen is not very accommodating in customisation requests, which I believe is a requirement especially with a short menu.

Great pizza that met all our expectations and Chris and Christina really delivered on this one. Great atmosphere and the pizza was fantastic, amazing flavours and fantastic base.

Dour service. Flavorless food. Small portions. I left nearky as hungry as when I artived… $50 later. The most disappointing meal in a long time.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious pizza’s!
A pizza as it should be. That describes it the best. Thin crust, fresh ingredients… just delicious! And the staff was very friendly!
Would definitely recommend to everybody!
Excellent
Excellent service and excellent food. Staff were very friendly. I would definitely recommend, decent variety menu and excellent drinks menu

Great service, delicious pizza, salads and sides. Good Wine and Beer choices. Very reasonably priced. Great service. It was a perfect family meal before we headed to the theater. We will definitely be back. Thank you!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent Experience
Party of three recently visited. The pizza was excellent, toppings flavorful but not overpowering, crust thin and just right. Our server, Joe B., was superb, as were the other servers who attentively filled our water glasses and poured our wine. Very much recommended!

Smells delicious in there; the way you want an italian restaurant to smell. The pizzas are great and they have the wine menu an italian restaurant should have.
