Wow i like this place!! The food is incredible, focaccia is out of this world, drinks are a little pricey but worth it and the wait staff are very helpful and super sweet. The reason for the 3 stars instead of 5 is because of the way the manager on duty (i'm assuming) was talking to the employees. It made ALL of the tables uncomfortable around us and resulted in my boyfriend and I not getting dessert. I have worked in hospitality my whole life, and was very shocked at her language and the way she spoke...but overall besides the manager that night... it was a lovely place.

Went to Marian's for Valentine's Day 2024 and loved it! The vibe is very unpretentious while still being nice and unique. Staff is attentive but also doesn't harass you or rush you out, which is rare for the West Village lol. The cocktails are very pricey but I loved the Negroni in two acts, my husband called it "the perfect drink dessert combo," because it's basically an adult Jell-O shot with your Negroni. So fun! Chips and dip were amazing, could have eaten two orders. Caesar salad was fine but nothing special. The scallops were my favorite part of the evening, truly to die for. So buttery and flavorful I could have licked the plate. My husband loved his steak. I recommend skipping the desserts, nothing special and there was a strange herby taste to both of them. Perfect date night or apps and drinks with the girls. Will be back!
Be the first to ReplyWe needed a late night meal and stopped by at Marian's.
Pretty pricey and during this season, didn't have too much filling items on the menu. We did get the fall squashes and that was delicious. The focaccia was okay, laking salt, but good.

We used Yelp to find this cute and cozy little place while we were waiting on a jazz concert in the Village. Met the owner and he was extremely nice. The burger was not on the menu because it was restaurant week, but he obliged and it was fannnntastic. I'm not really sure how they make their fries but I could have eaten just the fries. I didn't get a picture of the food because apparently I was hungry BUT I did get a picture of the table because the decor was well-thought-out. It did not disappoint y'all!
Be the first to ReplyThis place was a little expensive, but cute and overall
This place was a little expensive, but cute and overall underrated for Italian food. Everything we ordered was good, but the highlights were absolutely the focaccia, pasta, and burrata - do not miss out on those. We could've done without the duck, which was a little too chewy for our liking. The servers were fun and quirky and we enjoyed our conversations with them throughout the night as well as their recommendations. I'd definitely go back for another girl's night or for a celebration of some sort. I absolutely recommend this place!

The food is phenomenal, I had the focaccia with whipped ricotta and hot honey, wow just wow. Don't get me started on the services they were beyond amazing. The vibe, through the roof. Was a perfect way to start my Sunday morning

In a time where food is mediocre and service is even worse, Marian's was a revelation. Everything from the fluke to the shishito peppers to the flank steak was absolutely delicious. And don't sleep on the chips and dip! The ultimate comfort food. Service was great, couldn't wish for a better place right around the corner. Will be there a lot.

Meh. Expected more for brunch - I was told the juices were fresh squeezed, but the orange juice didn't taste like it. I ordered the rolled omelette, and the mushrooms, goat cheese and herbs inside were tasty, if the egg was a bit heavy and buttery. The bacon I got on the side was appallingly chewy, stringy and cold. My friend who ordered the burger seemed to enjoy it and cleaned her plate, but my other friend who ordered the chicken burger special only ate half. The brunch menu is generally kind of weird, imo. Odd to not see any eggs benedict options. Service was good, although they also charged my friend incorrectly on her credit card so that's one more thing she has to deal with. Considering that Rosemary's is right next door, might give this place a miss.

Still fantasizing about the food. Loved our server. They were great. Super accommodating. Espresso martini was awesome
Be the first to ReplyFirst time here - came for dinner with my boyfriend.
Walked in for a Saturday night reservation for 2. It was a cold night and the restaurant is heated and comfortable without being stuffy and stifling. Our table was ready when we arrived and we were immediately led to it. We were seated at a table in the bar area, but still felt like it was an appropriate spot for dinner. The only thing about the table is it was directly next to the server station, so was bustling with folks coming in to put orders in.The ambience itself is great- dim but not dark lighting, nice music and gets you away from the tiny new york cramped restaurant vibe for a bit.We started with club sodas, an aperol spritz (which was massive!) and their Negroni in Two Acts cocktail. I love negronis, so this cool take with a jell-o shot negroni and a classic was really cool (and tasty). To eat, we started with the focaccia, kale salad and steak tartare. The focaccia was the highlight because of the savory butter that came with it. The tartare was good but had what seemed like crunchy celery inside, which we didn't love. The salad was good but would have preferred savory dressing to sweet. For entrees, I had the truffle risotto and my boyfriend had the duck. The duck was moist and a hearty portion and the risotto dish was okay but I tend to like risotto with a firmer consistency. For dessert, we had the apple fritters and the chocolate mousse. The fritters were flavored well but I was expecting filling and it was very bread-y. Mousse was good but had some kind of gingerbread flavored cookie with it that I didn't love. The service itself was awesome. The server was kind, had a good vibe, and gave solid recommendations. Overall, the food was okay but we loved the drinks, vibe and service. If the menu rotates seasonally, we'll definitely be back to try it again!

Visiting NYC, Marian's was recommended by a prominent chef from our home town. This place is a gem. Clam chowder--topped with puff pastry--is exquisite . Crudo with fennel and citrus offers a lovely balance of flavors. Main courses--duck and hake-- cooked to perfection. Desserts--apple fritters and chocolate tart-- were the perfect finale. Chef-owner Christian made us feel welcome. This is a lovely place. Staff are friendly, refined yet casual decor. We will tell our friends.

This restaurant had great ambience and decor with the kindest servers! The food was also excellent we got the mini muffin basket and the scone was so good! And then the salmon dish, omelette and the rice bowl. The rice bowl was one of the stand outs for us with the mini muffin basket also being great! Check out this spot for brunch!!
Be the first to ReplyAlmost everything about Marian's is fine.
The food is fine (except for the clam chowder which was very good). The drinks are fine. The atmosphere is fine. The service was friendly and quick but felt somewhat rushed (pet peeve of mine when the server takes both your drink and food order at the same time). That would earn a perfectly adequate three stars in my book, but it's incredibly overpriced. There are far better options nearby. How many times must I learn that if there is a same day dinner reservation available in the West Village there's a good reason?

Meh. The hostess asked for my Resy info even though I was a walk-in, and asked, "Are you just one?" Can someone please train hosts to not describe people alone as "just" one? I digress. It was fine. A glass of wine and fries was $31.00 including tip. So, overall not a winner. But fine. The decor was nice. Lighting was really good. The music was just a little too loud...meh...not coming back.
Be the first to ReplyMarian's was just ok.
There is a great ambiance/ atmosphere and it seems like it would be a perfect spot to just get some apps and a drink. Service was great, staff was very attentive, but it felt like they try to rush you along. The only dish I loved was the warm focaccia. Everything else was just ok, especially compared to other restaurants nearby. I would come back here, but it's not at the top of my list to revisit. Overall it's not bad, I just wish I liked it more

Marian's was a lovely little spot with yummy food, super kind staff, and quick service. The kale salad was absolutely AMAZING & the shrimp roll was really delicious but mellower & smaller than expected. Slightly odd decor but very sweet. I would definitely go back and would recommend!
Be the first to ReplyThis review is for brunch only.
If you're looking for a reliable spot that hits all the menu classics (some with a twist) in the WV, this is it. Service is solid, ambience is a combo of old school yet chic, and the food is good. Nothing is over the top or really WOW, but it satisfies the Sunday brunch moment. Could come here every weekend and feel good about it.

Now this is what I call dining right in 2022: fun, sweet, relaxing, inspiring, and nourishing -- how I felt after leaving a recent dinner with family and friends at Marian's.We shared the crudo, grilled lettuces, and charred calamari to start - flavorful, unfussy, and all whetted our appetites nicely. Then we all dug in with hangar steaks, pasta, and topped it off with the apple fritters. And wine. Lots of it. From start to finish. The chardonnay and sav blanc by the glass couldn't be crisper, brighter, juicier. I assume the rest on the list (Spanish, Italian, Californian, and of course, French, plus more) are worthy pours. Eat. Drink. Smile. Repeat. But first, go to the restaurant's website and read the About section. The food IQ and execution here are legit. And ambiance? Think warm fresh coastal cali or laid back urban LA with inviting palettes and textures of colors and flavors. One bite of the hangar steak transported me to the svelte, easy going vibes of certain Californian steakhouses or bistronomiques that I adore for their clarity, restraint, and unpretentious elegance. It's refreshing to see a place like Marian's open up in Manhattan; most courageous places these days are setting up in Brooklyn, so those in the neighborhood, consider yourself lucky. What's for dinner? Just became an easier answer for those nearby.
Be the first to ReplyJust amazing and a must try, if you haven't been.
Marian's is casually elegant and inviting. The food? Fantastic! Went there for brunch and highly recommend the French toast. I'll be back for dinner (the clam chowder looks divine) soon!
Be the first to ReplyLoved it.
Came here with a girlfriend for drinks last night. Hostess and waitress were lovely, warm and welcoming and were flexible with getting me seated before my friend arrived, which is like the antithesis of the west village. Place itself is stylish and buzzy and fancy without being pretentious. It's a little pricey but not egregious like some places in the area are, and I found that the quality at least lived up to the prices. We both had a couple drinks and split a few appetizers and everything we had was amazing. The Negroni in two acts was so fun and clever and like nothing I've ever had before. Brussels sprouts were bizarrely good although portion was a bit smaller than I would have expected for $9. All in all, will definitely return. This place might be the new WV hot spot.
Be the first to ReplyCome for the "Negroni in Two Acts," stay for the great food.
The Negroni is a traditional Negroni on the rocks prepared with Campari paired with a jello Negroni in a coupe glass made with Aperol. This is a unique and fun presentation for a classic cocktail that has become riffed on the global bar scene. Marian's is an attractive new restaurant in the West Village. The food and service are both stellar. Marian's is off to a terrific start, if it can keep it up it will become a classic too.
