Great restaurant to taste lots of different dishes as there is an emphasis on shared plates dining. Everything was super delicious. The deserts are a must especially the pistachio cake which tastes like it just came out of home baked oven. Can't wait to visit again. Service was very attentive and our waiter offered a great amount of info on what to order based on what we like. The atmosphere was very chilled and relaxing.

While we were in New York to celebrate our son's engagement
While we were in New York to celebrate our son's engagement we decided to try this restaurant. It was very nice looking inside and we were seated quickly. The menu was well thought out with many delicious dishes available. We ordered an entree for each of the six of us along with many exciting appetizers. The loaf of bread for the table was unique and magnificent. I've never seen anything like it. We all shared the appetizers which were delicious and unique. The mains were all wonderful and we were all delighted. We ended up taking food home as the portions were generous. The service was impressive and attentive. We all enjoyed ourselves very much and our celebration was a great success.

not fresh. -$7 followed up by 4 main dishes which were served 2 at a time. After 20 min -third main and the fourth person got their main dish 35 min after the first two were served. Portions were small. Service was slack. Honestly , I was so looking forward to this . And came specially from Long Island . It was below average in every way. Schnitzel was really delicious. And salad was too. Other than that - average . Disappointing for a restaurant carrying the name of Eyal Shani.

Definitely not what I expected especially after having an amazing time at Shmonè & HaSalon...First off, I was the first solo guest here as Malka opened yet was told I couldn't sit at a table rather than the bar because it would be "busy", meanwhile I was in and out within 30 minutes, and only 3 other parties entered within this time. Secondly, even though I was seated at the bar (not even the open kitchen) I was put right next to the iced buckets of beverages that got in the way when eating as I'm left handed. On top of that, I overheard the employees conversation and it seems as if this management is still getting things organized since they've opened (though it's been quite some time now) because some were confused on how much of a brunch shot was "too much" to serve. This area was also right where servers kept passing back and forth so I was caught in the middle of this. The salad was okay but is skippable. The fish shawarma had a creative presentation, but it wasn't what I envisioned, and it was very similar to what you'd get as an octopus salad/tuna tartare appetizer from a Mediterranean restaurant. The quality of the food is up there, but the service isn't.

We had high expectations for Malka, and in the end, the evening did not really meet my expectations. Almost all of the tables were grouped to hold big groups, we were first sat upstairs by the service & stair/bathroom area but luckily there was one other 2 top at the front of this balcony over looking the entrance & it was a fabulous seat. I may not have even stayed if seated at the first table. On a rainy Tuesday evening at the end of 2/24, the space was filled by 5:30pm..and bustling. The staff is young ! and busy. While everyone was polite, and our particular server spent time with our wine choice & general questions, we did not feel any attachment or love for the ambiance. Eager to have an Israeli wine, we were disappointed to see the 2 bottles that I would consider affordable on the small wine list were a Savion Blanc from New Marlborough & a 375ml red from Spain, were both 55$. We went with the 2021 Jezreel Valley red for 99$ although if you look on the website even today it is listed at 79$. The wine was fabulous, and I am thrilled that I can find it for under 30$ at home. (you can see the wine list from 2/27/24 in the photo's and see that now, a week later it is a totally different on line) The menu is unusual as you may have read. A very Israeli Hummus is offered, but it was explained to us that because this was a bit more upscale than street food, it did not come with pita to dip, but there were 2 choices on our evening : Golden Focaccia or A Bread Bag which was challah. We passed on the bread and thankfully decided on the delicious Nostalgia of an Old City Mezze that included raw red onion, assorted veggies, a falafel "burger" (so much for avoiding street food). The most fabulous Malka schnitzel filled with mashed potato marrow could have been a chicken cutlet done at any decent restaurant, not what I would expect to pay 41$ for in my wildest dreams. 18$ would be fair (you can see in my photo that the tiny dollop of sides can vary, there was nothing red or beet like on our board and the slaw/cubed items were tiny in comparison to earlier photos. The Green Garlic Pasta was a wide delicious ribbon that appeared undressed but had a delightful & delicate flavor, ok to hare as a small side. We passed on dessert. Slipped out barely noticed in the commotion of the evening. While I am very happy to have finally dined at Malka, a mere handful of blocks from work, I would not return unless I was perhaps someone's guest.

Having been to the former Miznon and enjoyed it, this was our first time at this iteration of basically the same restaurant but now Kosher. The menu is in the same precious format and warrants too many questions for a server to have to answer. We ordered our wine, noting that it was much cheaper to drink by the glass than order a bottle which is not usually the case. As a double date, the four of us took the pens they provided and marked up the menu with what we thought we might want. It was difficult to judge just how much to order as some dishes, later described by our server, are enough to share and some are a couple of bites. We figured it out with the help of our solicitous server. We ordered the focaccia, eggplant, green beans, broccolini, schnitzel, and humus with lamb ragu to share. First came the bread and then one after another the rest of the food. The pacing was much too fast and we felt rushed as the table ran out of space. Next time I would order a couple dishes at a time to slow things down. The humus was the last thing to come out and sure enough there was no pita. Other diners have pointed this out. Seems odd. We asked for bread and they brought us challah wrapped in foil packets that were chilled as if coming straight from the cooler. We decided to follow the dessert recommendation of our server which was the pistachio cake. The cake was a bundt with candied orange and very moist. We had a lovely evening together with delicious food despite some details being off. This is definitely a hot spot in the neighborhood so reservations are sparse. The beau and I agreed that while it was good we wont be rushing back.
Disappointing I'll start with the good.
Our waiter Jesse was very nice. The schnitzel was very good. The mashed potatoes inside the schnitzel kept the chicken moist and flavorful. Unfortunately everything else was underwhelming. Serving hummus without bread is a slap in the face. The focaccia was good, but for $10 it's inanely small. Food is expensive and not particularly flavorful. I didn't like the lamb shank. The menu tries to be whimsical but comes off as arrogant and uninformative. "A very Israeli hummus so close to perfection". "Four spicy instruments that will swirl your soul". Meh. Too kitschy for me. And the hummus - it better be amazing if you call it that and I don't think it was. Perfect hummus comes with a lot of pita. Tables were on top of each other. Seating at the bar was on top of each other. Glad we tried the place, but much prefer other Israeli restaurants (lazer wolf, Dagon, zahav, Miznon). If you need a kosher place, this is a viable option but for me I'd prefer to go elsewhere.

Went for dinner with a group - could not have had a better time. The food is outstanding. We had some food allergies and our server was extremely diligent in making sure we knew which dishes contained which ingredients. Everything was delicious and every table seemed to be having the best time. I don't live in the neighborhood but I will make the trip gladly to come back.
Amazing food and amazing friendly staff.
From the moment you walk in and get greeted to when you you leave, they were so nice and helpful. As for the food I highly recommend the schnitzel and steak.
