The food at this restaurant was top notch in taste, colors, texture, presentation, and above all, service. The wine pairing includes a special beer and cocktail between some dishes, not just wine. Benjamin was passionate and knowledgeable sommelier and Jesus gave us excellent waitresses service. The smoked oyster served on a thin cracker was delicious and fresh, the Asian flair of the crunchy crab was fantastic, the sea bass taco in pink corn and the blue corn tamale were all unique and full of flavors that made your palette dance. You must try this place for late lunch or dinner when you come to Valle de Guadalupe. We were very late due to our small car and muddy dark roads from the rain and they accommodated us without rushing us. I can't wait to return to Lunario - it will have a Michelin star one day! Be sure to ask them in advance the best way to get there if you are driving yourself.
Be the first to ReplyLunario is exceptional.
Chef Sheyla showcases her skills in dishes ranging from: smoked carrots w/feta in a creamy soup to cabrito served in an almost asian style chili oil. Each dish is balanced and perfectly seasoned. The ambiance is definitely more fine dining but staff keeps things light. Jesus, Benjamin [sommelier] and Bryan were super cool and even recommended local spots nearby. This restaurant champions farm to table and is definitely a top 3 fine dining experience in all of Mexico. Would highly recommend!
Be the first to ReplyLunario was hands down the best dining experience in Mexico.
In my top 3 favorite of all time. The food was amazing and very creative. My favorite was the tamale that was made with ashes from the spices that they used. The ambiance of the restaurant was charming as well. The service was incredible. We had ran into car troubles due to navigating the dirt roads in Mexico. Brian the manager came out and walked down the road with a flashlight to find us. The staff was attentive and Brian even helped us navigate to the main road via phone when we left. The staff here was exceptional and so was the food. If you are looking for the best restaurant in Ensenada look no further.

Lunario Restaurante was truly a highlight of my Valle de Guadalupe experience. As we searched in the night for our dinner spot, it appeared like a magical mirage in the dark countryside. All of a sudden, there were twinkling lights and the sound of running water as we approached a pond with waterfall, and a storybook bridge. A waiter greeted us and led us into a 7 table room, warm and intimate. We were given the choice of a 4 or 6 course prix fix meal with wine pairing. We chose the 4, which included a wonderful amuse buche of raw shrimp on a crisp cornmeal platform. We were off to a good start. A wonderful, savory butternut squash soup followed, then raw sea bass in a chilled coconut sauce with melon. A fabulous duck dish was the last course before our palate cleansing pre-dessert and then the finale featuring fried plantain, corn and other flavors. The food was elegant, fresh, and innovative. Our party was asked about our particular preferences, and were accommodated. The waitstaff were attentive, yet inobtrusive. Benjamin, the sommelier, was personable, informative, and confident. We had a delightful experience, and I can't recommend them highly enough.
Be the first to ReplyTried this place a couple years ago and enjoyed it, but
Tried this place a couple years ago and enjoyed it, but just went back Aug 2023 and thoroughly loved it. Small and not too loud with great service , 2 plates brought out together by 2 waiters each time. Superb attention to detail on the presentations of our 4 (or 6) courses only surpassed by the remarkable luscious tastes assembled with fresh ingredients. Our go to Valle restaurant used to be Laja, but this has surpassed our recent meals there. So good!
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and service.
You need to go. Set menu but you'll love it. I'm def going back.
Be the first to ReplyWhen I heard this was a woman chef leading the way for VDG
When I heard this was a woman chef leading the way for VDG culinary scene, I was ecstatic! People said this was better than Deckmans, we were hyped. It is a small place, very intimate. The inside has a clear roof and you can see the kitchen and all the staff. Reminds me of the movie "the menu". They start you with this herb water, which was pretty refreshing, I was a fan. We were able to split tasting menus, half of us getting the 4 course and the other half the 6 course. I got the 6 course. Let me say, the food was a big disappointment, especially if you're expecting some protein or meat. It was mostly all vegetables and variations of different cream. It got super boring after the first 3 items were cream. Started with the amuse bouche which was the shrimp sope, a small bite, pretty decent. The first course was an asparagus, tomatillo and cream. It went well with bread, kind of like vegan bagel and cream cheese feel. Then the 2nd, crudo, with another cream. Barely any pieces of crudo, it was mostly cream. I ate some and didn't want to eat the rest, too creamy. The 3rd was the grilled oyster mushroom, which was pretty decent. The 4th was this fried soft shell crab with this mole cream. It was too salty, and not regular mole. Super salty and oily. The 5th was a smoked lamb. The lamb was good except you get like 1oz of it and again a another cream. The palate cleanser was a kumquat sorbet, it was a good palate cleanser, especially that there was no cream. The final dessert was yogurt, beet and AGAIN a raspberry cream. 5 dishes with a cream. Similar cream but slightly different flavoring. Everything was flat, boring and one noted cream. The only good thing was the service. Which was impeccable. I would not recommend this unless you just want to eat a bunch of vegetables and cream. I can't believe this got so many high ratings. Did we miss something?! Our whole group agreed that this was one of the most disappointing tasting menu we tasted. I would say a 2.5 for food.
Be the first to ReplyWe had a dinner reservation for the tasting menu and it was
We had a dinner reservation for the tasting menu and it was really nice that they were able to accommodate half the group wanting the 4-item menu and the other half the 6-item menu. Ahead of time, we submitted any food allergies and intolerances and they were very accommodating to that. The general sentiment was that some dishes were hits, others big misses, and overall not much substance at all for the price point. It's also probably not worthwhile to add the wine pairing; however, other drink options were limited. Aside from wine, they only pour mezcal neat and no cocktail menu. The favorites of the night were the lamb, the palate cleanser sorbet-like bite, and the dessert. While the lamb was the favorite, it came in two very small pieces and left us wanting more. The dessert was a yogurt like item with beets and berries that was more breakfast like, but still very tasty. The main issue was that the tasting menu featured a lot of cream in almost every dish and seemed very one note.
Be the first to ReplyRestaurante Lunario at Lomita Winery in Valle de Guadalupe
Restaurante Lunario at Lomita Winery in Valle de Guadalupe is a hidden gem that offers a unique farm-to-table dining experience. The cozy atmosphere and rustic decor create a warm and inviting ambiance that perfectly complements the food. The restaurant is only open for dinner and accessed via a magical pathway and stone steps nestled in Lomita's vines. The glass ceiling allows for stargazing between courses, while a large picture window frames a colorful array of plants in the outdoor garden. The chef, Sheyla Alvarado, delivers a stellar lineup of gastronomic delights with a six or eight-course fixed menu at Lunario. The portions are smaller, with an emphasis on fine dining, paired with wines from Lomita and other vineyards. The menu offers authentic Mexican cuisine with a touch of homestyle cooking. The dishes burst with flavor and rustic charm, including the visually impressive spicy shrimp dish, aguachile de cenizas, the comforting pumpkin tamales, tamal calabaza invierno, and the unique mushroom dish with rich mole sauce, setas con mole. The seafood stew with Largemouth bass, lobina en chilpachole, and the melt-in-your-mouth wagyu beef are must-tries for seafood and meat lovers, respectively. For dessert, the coconut and passionfruit dessert, coco y marachuya, and the delightful blend of corn, cheese, and banana, elote camembert platano, are perfect endings to the meal. Aside from the delicious food, the staff's top-notch service adds to the overall dining experience. The knowledgeable staff is always happy to answer any questions and offer recommendations. Overall, Lunario is highly recommended to anyone visiting Valle de Guadalupe. With its focus on locally sourced ingredients, talented chef, and warm atmosphere, it is a must-visit for foodies and casual diners alike, and it will undoubtedly continue to be a popular destination for years to come.

The food is spectacular not only because everything is delicious tasting but the way it is presented just blows your mind. I've been to some really fabulous restaurants around the world and lunario is right up there in the same category of let's say.. Dill in Reykjavik, Pujol in cdmex or Quintonil also in cdmex.Having enjoyed the food at lunario more than a few times and having tried others in The Valley I'd say right now it is the best food I've hadService is also top notch. Well trained servers and a knowledgeable somellier.Really great wines. The ambiance is really nice because they play very mellow music not too loud which just adds to an even nicer mood.Highly recommend this restaurant to those who enjoy a very sophisticated tasting menu.Chef Sheila Alvarado is a very talented, gifted an creative chef who deserves to be recognized internationally.

This place is a must try! I made reservations for my birthday dinner, there is a lot of communication that happens and I was very glad for it . First I'll start with the drive to the restaurant , it is beautiful and the paved road is easy to follow. Once you turn off the paved road however it gets tricky if you have a very low to the ground car like I do ( plus it had just rained and there were massive puddles). I called the restaurant to ask if they had a car service to get us up and they sent Enrique to the rescue! Mind you it was his personal SUV, but they were so kind as to pick us up! Once we reached the top the vineyard and outside gardens are stunning! We started with a glass of wine and walked around the premises. The staff was so incredibly attentive, they did not miss a beat. Once seated we were greeted by our waiter Edwyn and the sommelier Benjamin. Each course was mouth watering and I chose the 6 course vegetarian dinner paired with wine and my fiancé chose the 6 course regular dinner paired with wine as well. The visual appeal of each dish is so artistic and the flavors so rich. The pace in which our courses were being served was thoughtful and timely. The inside decor is simple and modern, with several plants hanging from the ceiling giving the feel of a green house. This is such a unique experience and one my partner and I will never forget. Go and try it for yourself! Thank you to all the staff and especially Enrique!

Probably one of the most deliciously appetizing meals I've ever had. The location is absolutely lovely and something someone should experience both during the day and night! Tucked away in a beautiful garden with peacocks. I was just amazed at how lovely and tranquil the space was. The location to eat gave a similar low key diner vibe, with a specific setup that sets up everyone for an intimate conversation.Their water is like a chamomile dream. It was so good and refreshing! After a day of wine, it was just what we needed. The food itself for the tasting menu was so good - I only took one photo and everything else was a modern fusion of Mexican staples. If you're able to snag a reservation, definitely take it! And go with a group open minded to foods.

A hidden gem! Beautiful walk down to the restaurant through the winery grounds. The service was amazing, they started us with infused lavender and rosemary sweet water which we named "butterfly water". And so many courses! We did the 4 course tasting menu and wine pairing, mine vegetarian and my partners standard, they gave us 3 bonus courses "to make sure we didn't leave hungry" which we indeed did not. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. A great experience all around, would go back
Be the first to ReplyI was blown away, truly.
I was a bit nervous about Lunario considering not many had heard of them and I'd only seen a handful of articles about their dining experience, but I was not disappointed. Lunario was our final high-dining experience in el Valle after a few others and it was by far the star. The warm, intimate, fresh, and modern atmosphere paired with friendly and helpful staff kept my friend and I raving throughout the meal and long after. But of course, the center of attention belongs to the food. The 6-course meal with amuse bouche and pre-dessert was by far the star. Every dish was intricate, a blend of traditional Mexican and modern haute cuisine, and a total experience in and of itself. While many of the dishes I had in el Valle were delicious, not a single restaurant will be quite as memorable as Lunario. The wine was equally impressive featuring a curated list of the best of the best from nearby producers. We split one of the last few bottles of Finca la Cordillera's Arbol Granache Rose (which was sold out at the public). It was a fabulous recommendation and so delicious I had to buy a bottle to take home. Lastly, the experience was personal. The chef coming over at the end of the night to deliver our dessert and ask about our meal was truly meaningful. You can tell her passion in the way she speaks and presents her work - even after a long day in the kitchen. I also have to give additional kudos to the fact that high-end cuisine does not always give women the recognition they deserve, and that Chef Sheyla is truly elevating dining above and beyond.
Be the first to ReplyThis place is next level.
I'm not typically into fine dining. Often you're paying a lot for very little. I value nutritious, fresh food rather than what the plate looks like. However, this place did not disappoint! Servings are small as to be expected, but flavor and freshness was there in every dish. Each dish was also very unique. When you finish your meal, they ask you if you would like to revisit a dish (for no extra cost!).. the biggest issue is choosing which one.I'm not a big drinker, but my friends mentioned that the wine was very good. And, the service was EXCELLENT! We were so bummed that it's in Mexico and so hard to get to because we can't wait to return. This might actually be one of my new favorite restaurants.
Be the first to ReplyAs others have said, this is the best restaurant in Valle
As others have said, this is the best restaurant in Valle right now. In fact, it's one the the best meals we've had anywhere in 2022.The space is intimate, trendy and very well apportioned. The service is impeccable - and it comes off as cool and confident but welcoming. The food is interesting, super flavorful, and has you wanting a repeat of each dish you try. The menu does best for groups of 2-4, maybe 6. Go for the full 6 courses and the wine pairing - you'll be very content! Pictures are of the August menu. If Valle had star ratings, this place would easily have a two-star. Come on a Thursday or Friday before they are overwhelmed by weekend crowds. If you debating visiting here or other, older well known restaurants in Valle, this is the one!
Be the first to ReplyBest restaurant in Valle de Guadalupe.
12 of us dined here for my birthday at the end of June and it was the most amazing experience.I really wanted to eat a restaurant in Valle that actually had a Mexican chef, last time we were in Valle we didn't have that experience and I am SO happy I chose Lunario. From making the reservations, to the service, to the food, it was all 5 stars. They made me feel so special on my birthday. It was difficult to select how many courses to do with a group of 12, so we ended up going with the 4 course meal. We were all very happy with this choice, it felt like enough and we got to taste so much! We would definitely try the 6 course as well though next time.I can't say enough about the service and the food, if you're thinking about eating here, do it! Michelin tasting food, presentation and service, extremely reasonable pricing. Gracias a todos! Regresamos pronto!

First night we arrived I booked the tasting menu and wine pairings. It was delicious and the portions were generous. The special reserved Singular wine was elegant and beautifully paired with the heartier meat dishes.

I had my birthday dinner here this past weekend and everything was amazing. My boyfriend and I did the 6 course meal without a wine pairing (we drank plenty earlier in the day), but had a glass of the Lunario red wine made by Lomita across the street. He's vegetarian so he did the 6 course vegetarian option. We enjoyed how both menus are very similar to each other, so it felt like we were enjoying the same courses together. Some of the vegetarian options overlap with the regular menu as well. You might think these portions are tiny, but honestly they add up and with the amuse-bouche + pre-dessert it ends up being about 8 courses (and an additional tres leches birthday dessert!). Every dish was well presented, and such great quality. My favorites were the scallop ceviche + tostadas, cantaloupe & lemongrass, summer squash tamale, striped bass and the oyster. Oh and I appreciated the thoughtful touches in this restaurant with the hanging plants and handmade tea cups. Instead of serving water, they serve a hibiscus iced tea that's lightly sweetened with splenda. Perfect for the hot summer days! Service is great and the walk through the vineyard & gardens on the way to the restaurant is gorgeous. Love the casual interior as it felt like we were eating in a greenhouse setting or cafe. Thank you for a wonderful experience and meal, especially for our first time in the Valle!
Be the first to ReplyLunario offers the best of Baja in my opinion.
The service is excellent, the wine pairings on point, and the star of the show is Chef Sheyla's food. Always a special treat when we dine here!

We almost didn't make it to Lunario for dinner - being completely wine-d out and having a lackluster dinner at Deckman's the night before - but we managed to get our group together and we're so glad we did. The walk through the gardens to get to the restaurant is whimsically beautiful, especially at dusk when we arrived. As we walked down the steps next to the pond, the waitstaff greeted us by name and the service continued to be impeccable the whole night through. It's either 4 or 6 course tasting menu only, along with wine pairing or a la carte beverages. Every dish was presented simultaneously to our party of 6 and everything was absolutely delicious. The menu changes every so often and we'll definitely be returning for the new menu.
