Do Not Waste Your Time and Money
The worst environment! The bartender refused to serve me a drink based on how they felt about my friend. And then the fake security bouncer made fake accusations on us being loud. When he only approached us when he saw me question the bartender on why I didn't get the drink I asked for to begin with.

Friendly staff abs good service and we kept on coming back throughout our trip from the UK. Possibly my favourite bar in NYC and we will definitely be coming back for more (as soon as Covid allows)

Waiter confused me with another person of my race in my group, TWICE. They asked me about her order; then, they CHARGED me for her order. You'd think by the third time they'd get it right.

I go into a bar like this with my eyes open and my expectations set at an appropriate level and this place was great. Exactly what I expected it to be from the outside looking in. Busy, bright, loud and full of people having a good time.
Didn't eat as we were heading to a show and to be fair it would have been tight on elbow room!
Lunch
Nice little friendly place. Discounted beers and food was fabulously priced, hot and tasty. Service was tentative but not over the top. Lace filled up quickly glad to get in when we did. Thanks Mickey spilaine's.

I recently came to Mickey's the other night for some food and possibly a drink with 2 friends of mine. It was hot out and they had a standing fan in the corner of the bar. My friend and I were sitting in a booth to the side of the fan. My friend went to go move the fan a little further back so the breeze would hit us along with the rest of the customers. The second he sat back down with us, the owner/manager (I presume), came over, ripped the menus off the table, and told us to leave immediately. He told us that he was not having this and dealing with us. When we inquired why, he would not respond to us, just insisting that we leave. We asked the bouncer if we did anything wrong and he just stood there and told us to get out. To this day we have received no explanation. All we can think is that THREE BLACK PEOPLE entered a bar, upsetting the owner, and, thus, were told to leave without a reason. Mickey's will be a place where I no longer attend for actions that I can only see as RACE RELATED. TRUST ME, there are plenty of bars/restaurants in Midtown that will accept and provide a safe place for my friends and I.
Be the first to ReplyWe love a good dive bar!
Wandered upon this on accident. The menu was posted outside and it looked ones pretty good. Beers were reasonably priced and so was the food, not always easy to find in NYC.
There were rainbow pride flags up and the clientele was really eclectic. My spouse has a pizza and I had a buffalo chicken wrap. The pizza was $8.00 for a 7 in and had a great, crispy crust. The wrap was spicier than I expected, though it was tasty.
The waitstaff were well organized and good and drinks were timely.
The decor was definitely dive bar, old, outdated and lots of tears in the fabric. Just like one would expect! We really enjoyed ourselves. They had 3 TVs with everything g from sports to news, all cc.
Iโd eat there again.
Worst Experience Ever!! (Except for Kevin the server)
This is our first time to NY to visit our niece. She brought us to this bar/restaurant because she has brought other family members here several times on their trips to NY. The happy hour and food specials are excellent......UNTIL YOU
MEET THE OWNER OF THE RESTAURANT!! We have never been treated as poorly and as aggressively as we have with this person. You canโt miss him, tall, headband, and extremely rude. The beginning of our visit was great - server Kevin was fabulous, beer was cold, and our snacks were delicious. The negative began when we went to use the washroom. My other niece jokingly knocked loudly on the washroom door when I was using it and at this point, the owner lost it! He started to yell at her and told her to leave. It was unbelievable. When I came out, I told him she was just kidding around and his response was, โtake it elsewhere.โ My husband was standing there and told him to relax. The negative continued. He yelled at my husband and was very aggressive, taunting him and I quote.....yelling, โdo something about it!!โ Never in my life. We left immediately and will NEVER be back. Please check my other reviews - most are positive. I look to celebrate, not put down. This was truly a horrible experience with this owner. If you choose to go there....BEWARE!
Drinks and food
We don't care the fact this is a gay bar as a heterosexual couple. But the food was poor and the cocktails were not as good as we found in other places. Not a great atmosphere either

So if you are looking for old noire setting (Mickey Spillane's Mike Hammer), this is not for you. Comfy small bar. Good music. 3 TV's with sports. LGBTQ friendly. Good prices for drinks.
Be the first to ReplyNot at all what I expected
This place is not at all what it looks like from the outside. I'm not sure if I expected a speakeasy or a large, Irish pub, like the other Spillane's in various towns. I was meeting a friend there for dinner, but after stepping inside, I immediately left and met her on the street. The place is TINY, with blinking red lights and terrilbly loud music that I didn't care for. I didn't see how we would even have a conversation, so we opted for another place for dinner. If you want a place to talk or catch up, this is not it. If you want a loud vibe of Hell's Kitchen, I think there are better options but it's up to the individual.
