Tapas at its best
We enjoyed a beautiful evening at this restaurant. We enjoyed Sangria and a number of small plates. The broccolini , and any dish with tomato sauce on it was a highlight. Everything was so fresh

I am not an expert on Spanish cuisine so I can't comment on the "authenticity" of this restaurant but everything was really yummy and the paella we ordered was exceptional but the portion is very big. We were 2 people and it was way too much food considering we had tapas and apps before the main, so plan the amount of food you order accordingly! Sangrias were tasty, service was attentive and friendly and we loved how the restaurant had an open kitchen!
Be the first to ReplyFood Coma!
Reading some of the other reviews, I’m surprised by those that say the food was ho-hum, bland or overly salted. We found exactly the opposite. We loved everything so much, we nearly went into a food coma from eating too much. Lamb shank paella, potatoes, shrimp, broccolini were all perfection. We took home all the leftovers and they were just as good the next day. But I do agree that chef consider sending some front of house staff to charm school. Or the unemployment office. Fortunately we had a wonderful and funny waiter, Marc L., who made up for our experience with the hostess and maitre d’, both of whom lack the charm and grace requisite for the hospitality industry.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious food. Delightful setting.
Visited for supper. Delightful courtyard setting and utterly delicious food. They did the simple things so well. Delicious Patatas bravos and wonderful sprouts with lemon. And plates of other excellent things. Best food we have had so far in our trips to the USA. Thank you.

Just stopped in for an after dinner drink. They had a list of gin drinks, but they acutely didn’t have any. My wife got a “substitute “ for a Tanqueray and tonic. Undrinkable. Bartender ignored us. The other bartender saw the problem and gave her another drink. Appreciate the help but really?

Came here on a girls' weekend and read the great reviews - they were right. Great atmosphere, wonderful service, delicious food. It's tapas style so we shared a few things including the Dátil, Patatas Bravas, Champiñones, and the Chorizo y Pollo Paella. Everything was delicious! Try a gin cocktail - we really enjoyed the Costa Blanca and Maravilloso. Would definitely come back here next time we're in central coast!

We are international travelers, so accustomed to different cuisines, Loquita was just so-so. Paella was bland, other dishes were overly salted.
Be the first to ReplyGreat meal!
We love tapas, so we had to check out Loquita. The outdoor seating area was lovely and the food was quite good.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent…GO!
Sat facing the kitchen…so great to watch the dishes being cooked - and can definitely testify to great kitchen hygiene and a smooth running team! Waiting staff were friendly and quick to look after us. Food was absolutely delicious.
Be the first to ReplyBad service and over-rated food
Yes, we read all the reviews and decided to splurge and see what the hype was about because we had not been to Santa Barbara for a very long time. Our party of 6 found more hype than substance, unfortunately. The worst was the service by Cali, who floated in and around the room several times not making eye contact when all we wanted to do was order another round of drinks. Speaking of drinks, the specialty cocktails verge on silly when the garnish is a spike of lavender that goes up your nose with each sip. Who thought that was a good idea? The food was fine for the most part, as you might expect at these prices, but seriously, 5.00 for one date? We were presented with shriveled specimens filled with the smallest almond conceivable and a tiny dollop of cheese. All hostesses at neighborhood cocktail parties serve more generous stuffed dates. Bottom line is - the clientele here gets what it deserves.

Lovely experience. It’s a lovely spot, very easy to find. The staff are all very knowledgeable and friendly-we asked for recommendations and our server Austin didn’t steer us wrong. The food of course is great-everything was excellent and full of flavor. I’ve been to Spain about 10 times and the food is much like why you’d get at a better restaurant there, except turned up to 11 on the quality dial. Recommend.

Amazing food, excellent service, great selection of Spanish and other wines, and a beautiful patio made our experience the highlight of our 5 days in Santa Barbara. Rivaled any meal we’ve had in Spain. Reservations via Resy a month in advance.

Great restaurant, great food, great service. Very nice outside area, with lots of heaters. Everything was delicious. Highly recommend the garlic shrimp and the croquettes. Reservations highly recommended. (Note: If you don't like mayonnaise/aoili, make sure to tell them in advance, since much of their menu comes with aoili.)

This tiny little place is such a find. We arrived a little early and the wait was still a while to be seated. While the wait was a little extensive it was also entirely worth it. They do have outdoor seating in a beautiful little patio area if you are not comfortable eating inside right now. Their cocktails are fabulous so I highly recommend grabbing a seat at the bar if there is time. Our dinner was paella. It was flavorful and well executed. The serving sizes are a bit extreme so you may want to order on the lighter side of with a smaller group. I highly recommend this gem if you are in the area.

Came here on a Wednesday night without reservations. They couldn’t accommodate walk-ins unless you’re willing to wait for a seat at the bar. The food and beverage options were superb! Their pan con tomate with either jamon or boquerones was one of the best, if not the best I’ve had. Such a simple dish but packed with so much flavor. Another highlight was their pulpo on top of puréed potatoes. The white sangria was also a delight. The bartenders were all so nice, friendly and helpful. A must try when in Santa Barbara. Will definitely return.

Be sure to reserve a table. The place was full even on a cold, wet covid-era night.
"Paella" is not treated as a single-recipe event and there are interesting varieties. We enjoyed one with duck confit. There are interesting cocktails. The tables outside in the patio/garden were well-spaced, and the heaters were adequate for comfort.
Excellent dinner
I make sure to eat at Loquita every time I'm in Santa Barbara - we've been to many restaurants in the area and this is consistently my favorite. Food is excellent, service is really lovely (our waitress gave us exact recommendations for our needs - not "oh everything is good" which I really extra appreciated), and their outdoor setup is really charming (and expanded recently!). So yeah, highly recommend - you won't be disappointed!

Went recently to celebrate our 45th Anniversary. The staff was extremely courteous and attentive, and the food was exceptional. Very highly recommend this restaurant.
Be the first to Replygreat food and drink, well-priced, meh service, loud front room so recommend sit outdoors if you plan to talk
Arrived on time for reservation. No host to be found for 5 minutes so we just stood there unattended. Loved the food. I thought we were clear that our last small plates were to function as entrees so should be brought together, but all our dishes brought one at a time. Served the wrong initial course; no apology from server for delivering the wrong item. Front dining room with a lot of tile and a painted brick wall, so loud. Ask for a table outdoors.

Absolutely delicious. Everything came out hot/well prepared. The carpaccio was as delicious as it was beautiful! Only 2 of us so we didn’t have paella. My husband loved the octopus and squid. Churros for dessert we’re amazing! Highly recommend!
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and lots of it.
The food was great and the portions were large. We didn’t realize you had to stand on line to order and the place needs a paint job. The dirty walls made me feel like the place was dirty. The food was great but it just wasn’t what I was expecting.
