Little Mama’s Italian Sandy Rock Place Charlotte Reviews
We didn't have a reservation, so the wait was about an hour.
After 30 minutes on the list, I got a text that our table was ready, which was quicker than I expected. No complaints at all. Our waitress was great. I wish I got her name--she was friendly, easy to talk to, and made the night even better. Now the food. The crab cake was unbelievable, easily the best I've ever had. Little Mama's really is a hidden gem in Rea Farms. I also had the ziti telefono, and it tasted even better than it looked. Next time I'm back, which won't be long, I'm ordering the crab cake entree without question.
Not That Impressed
Maybe we made the wrong choice, but ordered Caesar salads and pizza. The salads were good, and the bread was delicious. However, the pizza was disappointing. Too watery and way too spicy. Everyone raves about the food, but the portions looked huge. Beautiful restaurant and wonderful service. Will have to visit again and try the other traditional dishes.

After a very disappointing visit in June, my husband and I
After a very disappointing visit in June, my husband and I returned to the Sandy Rock location. This time, we were greeted in a very friendly manner by the hostess and seated promptly. The food was amazing as always--Chicken Carciofi has so much flavor and my husband's favorite Spaghetti & Meatballs always pleases! The Cookie Butter Cheesecake was so creamy and smooth and finished off our meal perfectly. Our server (Laura) was awesome, never needed to ask for anything. She was already on top of it! One of the most exciting things about our visit was seeing a very familiar face whom we had come to know (and love) from a different restaurant. Jeff, the manager, was visiting and checking on guests at each and every table and making sure that everything was perfect. He was amazing as a manager at the previous restaurant where we came to know him and we were so happy to see him at Little Mama's!!
Little Mamas is our favorite Italian restaurant.
From their great wine list and exemplary service to amazing appetizers and entrées, they definitely deserve five stars. It's a fun place to take family and friends or for just a nice night out. Keep up the good work!
Last night, eight of us went to Little Mama's in Rea Farms
Last night, eight of us went to Little Mama's in Rea Farms for my sister's birthday. What a wonderful restaurant! Although the place was very busy, our table was ready for us when we got there. Guilia was our server and was so sweet and attentive. The Fresh Radiatore with Meat Sauce was very tasty. Others ordered family portions of Chicken Parmesan (the best I've ever had!), Penne Broccoli and Chicken, and Fresh Fettuccini al Burro. Those who tasted the Fettuccini said it was not good, possibly from rancid truffle oil (?) and Guilia took it back and off of our bill. The manager then came to the table to get more information about it and was genuinely concerned. We also enjoyed the bread, the Goat Cheese & Mascarpone Dip, the Fior Di Latte (from the Mozzarella Bar) with stuffed Peppadew Peppers and Fresh Tomatoes with Basil, and Mama's Crab Cake (yum!). Although there were many leftovers which were boxed up nicely and even labeled for us, some of us just had to sample a couple of the desserts. The Affogato was wonderful, but Chef Megan's Cookie Butter Cheesecake was to die for! We enjoyed our meal immensely! Just the cheesecake alone is enough reason to go back. (Hint: Don't go tonight as I see online that they're out of it!!!)
Food was amazing at this place! Best Italian food in NC for
Food was amazing at this place! Best Italian food in NC for sure... Our server was Natalie, who was absolutely delightful! made our table laugh, smile, and made sure our food was brought out promptly, and kept checking in throughout our dining experience.. 10/10
What makes good Italian food great just a little attention
What makes good Italian food great just a little attention to detail...Little Mama's checks most of the boxes! Service, great. Ambience, great! The food not quite perfect was really good with the fresh pasta! Portions for family plates can feed almost 4 but can be stretched a bit further or provide left overs for a day or two? The sauces on both of our dishes were hearty and a bit spicier than I prefer but as I get older my tolerance is only two hot peppers? A note though just the top 5 dishes listed get the fresh pasta treatment. Overall I would have to say well worth the price!
Easily the best Italian food in CLT greater area.
The food and service are always on point. If you haven't eaten here get in your car and go! You will not be disappointed . The chicken Parm is plentiful and the sauce is about the best you will find. Don't skimp on the mozzarella salad as a meal or as an appetizer either. You can thank me for my recommendations because you won't be disappointed.
Adrian and Kristi are extremely accommodating, deliver
Adrian and Kristi are extremely accommodating, deliver excellent service and have a high sense of urgency which makes going to Little Mama's a pleasure. They are the reasons I will return and it doesn't hurt that the food was great too! The location, parking and ambiance were terrific and we had a fantastic time.
We had a party of 15 our server was fantastic always making
We had a party of 15 our server was fantastic always making sure we had everything needed. The food came out hot and absolutely delicious. I enjoyed the feel of restaurant it was my first time going but, I'm already planning to return. I enjoyed everything from the delicious bread to the fresh made pasta!
Amazing!
We made reservations the day prior and were pleasantly surprised to get in the next day. I was visiting in the area, and my sister was very excited to bring me here. I highly recommend the mozzarella app (all made in-house) and homemade pastas. Not all of their pastas are made in-house, but the homemade pasta is just the best. I highly recommend the eggplant parm and chicken Carciofi. We also thoroughly enjoyed the Nutella pie and affogato. Make reservations because it can be a long wait if you don’t.
Excellent Service Justin!!
We had an amazing lunch with Justin M. as our server! He was excellent with serving and gave us great recommendations with knowledge of the different menu items. We were enjoying friends and celebrating a birthday! Justin made it a very special occasion! Thanks Justin!!
I Love Italian Food.....
My friend suggested this restaurant to celebrate our April birthdays AND we both love italian food. This place did not disappoint. We went 2pm on a Sunday; the atmosphere was relaxing, but elevated. I had penne pasta with chicken and broccoli (then lemon sauce was perfection) it was scrumptious! My friend had lasagna and it was so good. I will definitely go back and I recommend trying them for yourself. 👍
Service good. Food awful.
I don’t normally write reviews, but I felt the need to share. Also, this is for the Sandy Rock location. First, the good, the atmosphere was nice and cozy. We sat in the sunroom or covered patio which was nice. We had our 5 month old with us and the accommodated us very well. They even let us come 30 min after our reservation due to our feeding time. Service was also very good. Nothing to complain about in that front. The bread and olive oil was good also. The section earned them one star. Now the bad. The food was bad. We were excited to try this place. We love Mama Ricottas in Charlotte and this being owned by the same people we expected similar food at least. It was awful. My wife ordered the fresh pasta fettuccine and added chicken. The chicken is not fresh chicken. It is chicken out of a frozen Tyson bag it seems like. Pre-cooked with rib meat. This was very disappointing. At the price point you’d expect real chicken breast cut up. The Alfredo from Olive Garden is hands down better than what she had. I had chicken parm which I get at most places and the same thing the chicken was just not good quality. Very tough and not tender at all. I had higher expectations, but after I thought about all the people they serve in one night no wonder they can’t make fresh chicken. We will not return. Oggi down the street has 10x better Italian food. It was my wife’s birthday and they didn’t do any type of celebration or cannoli either like Mama Ricottas.. which is fine we didn’t even want dessert we just went to TCBY down the street. I would not recommend at all for the food.
Ok experience not the best.
6 of us went for birthday dinner & based on a great past experience we were very excited. We were seated promptly and enjoyed the mozzarella presentation, the dinner however felt rushed and our waiter was less than cordial & somewhat dismissive in attitude. Overall the food was average, cocktails were very good, desserts were ok but nothing to get excited about. Disappointing experience….. no recognition of the birthday girl either.
Wonderful Food and Service
The food and service were terrific! My wife loved her Chicken Carciofo while my penne vodka was as good as previous reviewers stated. Our waiter Jonathan provided spot-on recommendations and excellent service.
Worth a visit
Ordered from the lunch menu after a short wait. The food was very good and fresh. I really enjoyed the lasagna. Our waiter is where our experience lacked. I had hoped for a better time and I will try again and hopefully have a better waiter.
Fenomenale 🤌🏼🇮🇹
This was our first time at Little Mama’s, celebrating twenty years since we began dating. The staff and food were phenomenal. Our server, Austin, was polite, attentive, and just a joy to have. We split the mozzarella presentation, followed by each of our entrees. I got the 4 cheese ravioli with butter sage sauce & by husband got their steak with potatoes. He enjoyed the steak but would love to try a pasta dish next time. We’ve had tiramisu in Italy both prepared for us, and made by us. But the tiramisu here, is the best we’ve ever had. So so good. We loved our experience here and can’t wait to return!
Rushed, noisy, poor environment but fairly good food
The restaurant was not too crowded yet it felt rushed, in a sophocating and loud space making it difficult to enjoy the meal. The servers were nice but rushed us through the meal. If the salad had not been so tasty, this restaurant would have been at the level of Mangiano’s. We would not think of returning on a holiday or a weekend.
