Not as good as it used to be.
We live locally and have been visiting the Lighthouse for over 20 years, we have always rated it very highly however standards appear to have slipped. Firstly we were not given the wonderful home made breads with dipping oils, these are now chargeable. The menu was as varied and interesting as ever and I ordered the venison which was excellent however the vegetables were lukewarm. The chocolate bread and butter pudding would have been a triumph had it not been cold in the middle. I sent it back and it was returned only slightly warmer. Lastly a waitress brought 2 glasses of red wine to our table which were not ordered by us (we already had a bottle). When the bill came we had been charged for them. The charge was removed after we queried it but no apology was made.

We had the fish platter one of the best plates of food, and I have been in this business over 40 years. Cod was wonderful prawns fabulous.
Be the first to ReplyGood value fixed price menu
We visited for lunch and ordered from the fixed price menu. The food was tasty but the choices very limited - two starters and two mains to choose from and no vegetarian option. At just under ยฃ30 it was nevertheless very good value.

My experience at Light House was delightful! I went there with my best friend and we had a blast. The food was delicious, and the restaurant's wine list was truly good. The friendly and attentive staff made the visit even more enjoyable. Karmena was our waitress and she was very sweet and kind. Lovely peaceful ambience, Light House is a must-visit for a memorable dining experience. Highly recommended!
Be the first to ReplyEnjoyable evening
Enjoyed our visit here with friends. Loved the feta and Mediterranean vegetables salad, I wasnโt sure it would be a salad from the menu description but glad that it was, perfectly dressed and tasty. We all enjoyed the seared tuna tartare although I thought the garnish was limp and overdressed but the others loved it. Cheese board was good. Fudge and truffles were so tasty we ordered a second round ;-) Cod was cooked perfectly and gone in a minute! We will be back!
Be the first to ReplyBad breakfast experience
Visited for breakfast. As soon as we walked in there was a lack of good vibes - they were playing a radio station with noisy commercial adverts, we didnโt get a friendly reception, and there were dirty plates on empty tables for the majority of our visit. The presentation of the eggs on toast was underwhelming and both portions of poached eggs ordered were undercooked with raw egg in the middle. Unfortunately it was a real let down and not a good advertisement for their evening food which looked nice online. The toilet area didnโt feel very clean/fragrant either. Wouldnโt recommend this for brunch/breakfast at all sadly, especially when they add a 13.5% service charge on top.

Been here a few times, food is always excellent. The only thing I think they need to improve on is the lack of quality non alcoholic wines and beers , there are plenty of really high quality non. Alcoholic wines that exist now and it is frustrating to be limited to water , coke or mocktails
Be the first to ReplyFantastic Pork Belly
Visited here with family for a late Saturday lunch. The set menu was a very reasonable price and had a wonderful feta, almond and rocket salad to start and one of the best pork belly dishes I have ever tasted. Service was excellent and the light open, contemporary decor added to a wonderful meal. Highly recommended.

Great service (brownie points, in particular, the the American waitress whose service was impeccable). Lovely food. Loved the crab tart in particular.
Be the first to ReplySuperb lunch
This is a superb venue for lunch. Good value, especially the set menu, and freshly cooked ingredients displaying imagination and much competence. The calfโs liver (I have had it twice recently) is outstanding. Itโs a hidden (not on High St) gem.
Be the first to ReplyMislead Valentine's
My girlfriend and I decided to go here for Valentine's night. We ended up with 21:00 booking. The aniseed focaccia came out, and all we got were the crusts. It was our mistake that we didn't realise it was set menu only and it'd be ยฃ65 per person - but we couldn't believe this was true! Their lunch set menu for 3 courses and a glass of champers was ยฃ35, we were getting the same for ยฃ65 . Their usual evening set menus are ยฃ30-ยฃ35. As we left, each course added together would come to ยฃ45. Anyway, we got over the price even though we felt we were being ripped off, we thought the food would make up for it. It was okay at best. Bland duck rolls; hardly any mozzarella with my beetroot The Main courses were better - but not worth the ยฃ30 we were being charged for the course. Creme brulee with a layer of what can only be described as lead on top. Probably thick enough to stop the radiation from chenoble meltdown. We were in and out in 1hr15mins. We didn't get the experience we were hoping for, especially not when we felt exploited by the price.
Be the first to ReplyGood location, great decor and staff and fantastic food. Not silly expensive either.
An excellent venue. Although parking is difficult in Wimbledon there were lots of empty bays. The restaurant is well decorated and makes your dining experience as not bold or boring. The staff were delightful, attentive but not in your face. And then the food! Absolutely stunning. The Tuna was probably the best weโve had and the cod was just perfect. The client who we took to the restaurant lives in the village and it was his first time there, I suspect not the last!

What a lovely restaurant. Three of the best courses of food I have had for a long time. Superb seared tuna, fab cod and chorizo and a stunning hot chocolate mousse to finish. All four of us loves the food, ambience and service. Just wish I didnโt live 60 miles away!

Excellent Saturday lunch. Crispy duck leg on a fresh salad as a starter and steamed cooked hake for the main. Great experience, tasty and cooked to perfection. Very attentive service. Highly recommended

We have dined here many times, sometimes itโs been hit and miss but on the whole pretty good. Unfortunately our last lunch was poor. Beef was so chewy it was not good also the cabbage was cold and under cooked. My meal was changed to pork ( that was okay but sweet potato mash swamped in gravy was awful and served again with cold under cooked greens) yuk! My husband had fish which he said was okay as were the mussels he started with but the vegetables etc were not good. To be fair they didnโt charge us for my meal, but this used to be a lovely welcoming restaurant with good food. Has it changed hands I wonder? Definitely wonโt be returning.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent - as always
We love this restaurant. Always impresses. Wonderful light food. I had a goats cheese and beetroot salad follows by a tandoori style chicken. Hunny had crispy duck salad followed by pork Tne wines are great. Everything was so delicious. Happily it was full on a Friday night.

On a busy Friday night we had a real blow out here with a good friend, known to the restaurant, where we were treated like kings and a couple of queens! After cocktails of perfect Martinis and Negronis we went straight for mains of slow roast pork and tender hake. Couldnโt resist desserts and spoiled for choice but chose a really messy Eton Mess and blueberry tarts. A bottle of Shiraz helped too! Attentive service, funny that โฆ. Perfect supper before our road trip.
Be the first to ReplyA great night of food and jazz
My wife and I joined our daughter and son- in-law for an anniversary dinner (their first). It was on a jazz night with a special menu. The food and music were excellent. Great staff and wine too.

Excellent service from new employee of 2 weeks, charming and being trained well.Food excellent, and we had a very pleasant experience.
Be the first to ReplyJust about ok
I know it's hard to find professional waiting staff at the moment but the workers on the night we visited displayed lack of basic training and the owner / manager seemed more inclined to chat with them and a few regulars than manage the restaurant. Not once did he survey the restaurant to check on service. Is waiting a good 15 minutes for a menu acceptable? The food when it eventually arrived was mediocre. Edible without any joy and readily forgettable. Overall pretty poor value for money occasion.

Wonderful meal with friends. There were 12 of us. They sorted out a menu for the night with 3 Options per course. Everything was a delicious and the service was fantastic. We had the area in a sort of alcove. Our favourite restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyHearty fine dining 5 minutes from Wimbledon Village
We love this place and come regularly. The welcome is always warm and they have an excellent chef who changes the menu every few days. The braised lamb this weekend was truly spectacular: cooked for hours with a clever choice of accompaniment in the giant couscous and roasted vegetables in a delicious jus.
The sauces at the Lighthouse are always tasty. They clearly know how to make stock.
There is usually a frangipane tart on the menu. The pudding chef makes amazing pastry. The tart on Saturday night with pineapple and coconut was the best ever.
We've also had functions here. They are very accommodating, friendly and professional.
