Run far far away from this place - I still have PTSD from this place and it's taken me a while to get back to eating high end food & sushi given the textural atrocities coming out of this kitchen.Disgrace for a fine dining restaurant. As someone who knows fabulous fine dining, and has been to some of the most incredible Michelin starred restaurants in the world I can honestly say this place is a TOTAL JOKE.The people who've given this place high star ratings have no idea what good food is - the ambiance and the high price tag are the only things that are elevated about this place. The "Truffles et Caviar" was not good - tasted off/musty. Literally a can of caviar and a croissant with little bits of black truffle - it was fine, but I've had 1000x better, especially for the price tag ($225).Frog legs (Cuisses de Grenouille) were bad - not deveined, chewy, greasy, and bland. The terrine (Gâteau de Millefeuille) was ATROCIOUS - tasted like bland jello that encased subpar fois gras and, the topper, a piece of cooked crab in the middle. Did I mention that these were large format? I felt pressured to choke the dishes down, but instead just attempted to eat the fois gras out of the middle hoping the next course would be better. It wasn't.I had the sweetbreads (Ris de Veau en Crépinette) which to this day makes me gag to think of (this experience has taken me months to write because it was so gross I didn't want to relive the horror). It was a slimy cabbage on top of bland baked organs with some fishy sauce - just horrible. My partner had another dish - the Crabe Pithiviers - a crab stuffed croissant which was essentially a fishy pastry. I'm sorry, but does that sound good to you?I seriously think the wait staff at this place laughs at people afterwards because every single thing off this menu is stomach turning, and they have you pay $$$$ for it.Our sommelier was incredible and tried his best to make up for the clearly bad time we were having; I think we each ate two bites of each thing before asking them to take it away - SO SO BAD.Only thing edible here is the dessert - even the dessert cheese is old and molded beyond where cheese should be molded. If we hadn't complained, we would have been out over $1000 to have this horrendous experience.I attempted complaining to Resy since it was rated highly on their platform and it wouldn't allow me to rate the restaurant - seems odd?It makes me horrified to think that people go here thinking this is some great chef or culinary artist - if this is what Angie Mar has to offer, she should really go back to cooking school, absolute horror show.If someone had told me I was being punked or filmed as part of a hilarious TV show where they serve you garbage in fine dining form, this would have made way more sense. Please do yourself a favor and skip this place as you're making your way through the thousands of amazing places that exist in NYC, especially if you'd like to enjoy fine dining at a later date.
