Wonderful French food in an intimate hole-in-the-wall.
We started off with a number of apps- a salad with great dressing, delicious oysters that weren't too fishy, and escargot that were verrry garlicky. Their house bread is clearly freshly toasted and it was those small details that added up to my great experience. We got a number of entrees to share- the steak was perfect at medium rare with a DELICIOUS blue cheese sauce and the fries were crispy but not greasy. The seafood risotto was amazingly cheesy and they didn't skimp on the seafood. The salmon was also very good, although the vegetables were a little softer than I liked. The bouillabaisse came with more toasted bread and some cheese to melt. Service was great- I don't think our wine or water glasses ever emptied. The cherry on top was their port- such a nice treat at the end of the night! I would definitely come back on a date for their seafood dishes especially!
Be the first to ReplyLe gigot is always such a great dining experience.
Every time I've dined at le gigot over 20 years I've been thrilled. Their menu changes slightly with the season. If you're lucky enough to get a table in the fall/winter you have to try their signature Cassoulet. It's one of the best cassoulets I've ever had. Service is gracious and friendly. The ambiance is cozy and warm. Such a romantic place. Beautiful wine list too.
Be the first to ReplyWent there last night, long wait for mid level food.
Paid 40$ for a steak rare but they drenched it an some weird A1 sauce. Also they wouldn't allow me to pay with an apple master card that's used anywhere a Mastercard can be used. Was forced to pay with a crappy TD bank card. Asked for check and it took over 10 minutes in an empty restaurant. I would not return again. 2/5 because they seemed nice but just poorly run.

Passes the vibe check!! Went on my second date with this v quirky boy so you know, it's romantic. The place is bijou. I like that their Instagram is not constantly being updated, adds to the whole rustic vibe of the restaurant. He got le Hanger Steak and I got l'Arctic char. I added the le's and l's because it's fun I later realized I was being charmed by this Ivy-educated, semi-awkward tech bro whilst simultaneously having identity crisis thoughts, but the Tarte tatin saved me. The restroom has tasteful wallpaper and the photograph reminds me of le petit Nicolas. We went for a post dinner walk to Washington square park and he called me cool as I pulled a pack of cigarettes out of my purse, it's really not that tough to be a Parisian.

Transport yourself to the densely wooded French countryside with an intimate trip to Le Gigot. It didn't hurt that it was raining outside the beautifully decorated little restaurant either. The food was fantastic. The bouillabaisse was rich and smoky. Perfect for soaking up their unreal bread. The chicken was also perfect. It tasted like a Christmas gathering with all your favorite warm spices. The veggies and potatoes were delicately flavored to offset the richness of the chicken.

I love being in the bustling city but there's something to be said for a tiny intimate space like Le Gigot. Excellent service. I don't know if I caught them on a bad night but the food was not great. I'd come back on a day I'm craving something classic and need less stimulation from the city.

I live in NJ but went into city to see a friend and we wanted French so took a 15 minute walk over. They are so friendly and place was warm and perfectly lit not to bright or dark.We ordered some nice dry wine(little pricey 18 a glass)Then my friend got the escargot and I got the salmon tartare. Wow both were amazing Then we both got the beef Bourguignon shepherds pie.I have eaten a lot of French food but this may have been the best dish I had.We then split the chocolate mousse I would have given 5 stars but a little pricey so if you live in the west village go you will love

Tonight was our first visit to this lovely 25 year old French bistro. While the tiny restaurant was mostly full on a snowy Sunday night, we appeared to be the only couple. This surprised us because Le Gigot is very romantic. The menu is small and filled with classic French dishes that you are happy to put in the hands of an experienced chef. Boeuf Bourguignon, duck confit and cassoulet are all large home cooking projects best left to the pros. We had a crab cake (my favorite dish of the night), spinach soup, duck confit, and steak (brandy peppercorn sauce). Dessert was tarte tatin and creme brulee. All with a nice bordeaux. Everything was executed wonderfully, and the service was pitch perfect. We enjoyed our server very much. We are excited to make this our regular for neighborhood French, as we can't wait to try the rest of the menu. We loved the unassuming confidence about this little place. You don't stay around in this competitive neighborhood for 25 years without having some game.

We got super lucky and snagged a 645 resi last minute for NYE! And to my surprise it is located on the famous Cornelia street (Swiftie over here iykyk) across from Taylor swifts old townhome. Such a treat! But I love a good French meal more than anything so we were super stoked about coming here and getting a table. It's one of the few places around that serves my favorite food: boeuf Bourguignon. I will always rave about it. But it was so good here! The sauce was perfect consistency. Definitely pricey ($38) BUT the serving size was very big. It was surprising. We started with escargot of course... so delicious. Served with the bread it was the best app. The butter for the bread was also extremely good. Noticeably good butter. My boyfriend got the duck confit his favorite dish. He said it was very good and the potato gratin with it (also a generous portion) was insanely good. This is definitely a great restaurant. The service was 10/10 too. Constant water refills and an appropriate amount of checking In on us. Always cleared our table and stuff and cleaned off crumbs. Very very good with our coats too. The man was holding it up for me to put on before I even got to the door as I left. It was really impressive honestly. Definitely a tight space with limited seating. No plexy glass barriers between you and other guests so you're like basically sitting with the people next to you due to very tight space. So if that bothers you just be aware. Hope to visit here again someday !

Unfortunately this place was really rather forgettable for me. I came here for dinner and was happy to be seated immediately. They have both indoor and outdoor spaces - unfortunately outdoor is on the pavement and the claxophony of cars doesn't help with the experience. Notwithstanding we tried the crab cake and the bouillabaisse. The crab cake was good and it was only crab meat with no fillers. Unfortunately a very forgettable meal for me. I came here for dinner. We were seated outdoors immediately. They have some indoor seating - about 8 tables mostly for couples. Outside they have about 5 tables in the summer. The service was relatively slow and since the menu didn't have too many options I was hoping all the food that they did they would do well. From menu to leaving we ordered about 3 dishes and it took 2.5 hours. At best the food was fresh but it wasn't either tasty or memorable. It didn't have either flavor complexity or interest in terms of ingredient combination. I would probably come here for a basic meal but at the prices I expected something a little more upscale I suppose. We tried the heirloom tomato salad, the crab cake and the ravioli. I would pass on this place for dinner - might be a better lunch option to be fair
Be the first to ReplyI can't describe how much I love this place.
It reminds me of the mom and pop owned restaurants I went to in Paris-- rustic good food that is not trying to be trendy/fancy/instagrammable. Inside it is darkly lit with a few small tables. It is very cozy, warm, and intimate. Over the summer they have some outdoor tables which were also nice to sit at since Cornelia St has a lot of outdoor dining. The crab cakes (~$24-26 for the app) are the best crab cakes I have ever had. They do not have any flour in them I believe so it is mostly just crab. They are a must get.The seafood salad ($36) is also one of my favorites for a lighter dish. It has crab, shrimp, fish, lobster, beets, green beans, tomatoes, lettuce, avocado, radish, carrots, frisee, asparagus and an herb vinaigrette. It is actually a large portion and is filling. The bouillabaisse (I think it's close to $30) is also really nice on a cold day. It is on the thicker side in terms of broth and it is delicious with the bread and rouille. I do not eat meat but I was told the cassoulet ($42) is amazing as well as the duck confit ($28) which comes with the best potato gratin.Highly recommend this spot-- it is a perfect romantic date night place and the food is really good.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent experience, great food, and attentive service.
Charcuterie was one of the best I've had in the city. Highly recommended.

Had a variety of dishes, pate, escargot, beef Bourguignon, Bouillabaisse. Everything wasPretty tasty. The appetizers were pretty solid. The soup was a special and was the best thing on the menu. Our entrees were solid choices, the seafood was great and the beef was good as well. Nothing was mind blowing but everything was a good choice. I'd ask for the soft starter bread with the seafood next time since it came with some crunchy breads. The dessert was also good. The wine was great

My husband and I have celebrated every anniversary at Le Gigot for years. It was wonderful to get out again and dine in this elegant restaurant. The food is always sublime and the atmosphere is so beautiful. My husband had Escargots for an appetizer. They were absolutely delicious. I had my favorite, Pate Maison. It is the most wonderful melt in your mouth pate I've ever tasted. For our main courses, we had Coq au Vin and Poulet. Both entrees were as usual, extraordinary. Every dish we have ever tried at this restaurant has been outstanding. We always have a bottle of wine. They only serve the best and it's reasonably priced to fit everyone's budget. Don't forget to order dessert. My personal favorite is the Apple Tarte Tatin. The beautiful owner, Pamela makes everyone feel so welcome. The staff is so friendly and courteous. I am always happy to see Daniel, Derrick, Andreus and Carlos. They all make you feel like family. As for safety measures, the staff is fully vaccinated. I felt perfectly safe eating indoors although I also enjoy dining al fresco when weather permits. We love this restaurant and can't wait to go back. Don't wait for a special occasion. This is a beautiful restaurant to enjoy when you want an excellent meal, lovely ambiance and a warm and welcoming staff.

Went here for dinner last night and everything was delicious! Quality food, service, and wine. Outdoor seating was spacious and traffic on Cornelia street was stopped so it was very pleasant. Banana flambeau was to die for. Only beer and wine so no cocktails or after dinner fines but a nice tawny port. Our party had the steak, duck confit and seafood salad- all of which were delicious.
