This review is solely for the club experience***While the DJ playing the night I went had a great mix and the place itself has a nice layout, the service and staff here were not pleasant. The night was advertised as ladies free all night, the promoter who goes by "Mo" was futile and just overall the operations here were a mess. Fortunately a girlfriend of mine in our party knew one of the bouncers (shout out to him!) and we were able to bypass all the BS. It is more so of a young crowd, I admit I haven't done the club scene in soooo long but a girl just wanted a night out to dance with her girls to good music! It also seems like for ladies, the way you're dressed plays a huge factor in whether you pay or not to get in- again I am emphasizing the word "seems" - but it just seemed like the skimpier you dressed the less likely you'd have issues getting in for free. Wouldn't come here again but I did enjoy the music! I believe the DJ's name was Chris G- he definitely knows how to set the vibes for Latin and top hits
Be the first to ReplyCame here last night for much needed girls night dinner.
We started with the baked clams as an app and I got the seafood Alfredo for my entree which was SO good! We finished with the Oreo zeppolis which came with vanilla ice cream - a nice touch. The restaurant was BUSY and dark, with the tables close together; not a great place for conversation unless you like talking really loud. Great for a dinner before a night out, would def recommend.

Waitress shouldn't assume or let her unconscious bias dictate how she interacts with 2 patrons of different ethnicities. Directed all questions (tap or sparking, would you like to order a drink, are you ready to order) to my colleague first . The smarter thing to do would have been to address us both. (Waiting 101). But I refuse to feel marginalize! Rheook I gave her said it all and that was enough for her to alter her behavior toward me.Food was great, but this experience obviously dulled my taste buds.

Me and my friends got invited by the promoter to eat at LAVO and I heard great things about it and was super excited to try it out and consider coming back for it afterwards on our own. For some reason when I allow the bouncer to check my ID the bouncer keeps asking me if I remember when my expiration date for my drivers license and when I got my drivers license without giving my ID back. How would I remember things like this? He keep expressing the idea that he doesn't believe my ID is real bc the fact that I m originally from Arizona and it says my ID don't expire 2065, since Arizona state law states that Arizona citizens ID do not expire until the the driver turns 65 years old. (Google it, it's real) he keeps giving me shit about how I look young and how my ID doesn't make sense and asking me to show him more prove and even a passport and making my night the worst I ever had. I literally googled the Arizona state law and showed him to prove that I m innocent and I m 23 years old. He still wouldn't believe me and saying that he never seen anything like this before? It literally says that's a state law!! Luckily I found my passport picture in my phone and tried to show it to him. And the guy still doubted me and went Google it. It was beyond stressful and traumatizing to have this type of experience. Like making me feel insulted bc I m from Arizona and I have a Arizona ID?!?! Why would I ever want to come to this restaurant again after this type of bad experience and disrespect? How would the owner expect people to come eat here when your bouncers pick on people ?? My ID is more than real but the bouncer keep giving me shit about it bc I look young? It was beyond ridiculous, it was a horrible experience,it was beyond unreasonable.

Came here for a Valentines dinner on the 14th as expected the place was packed our reservation was for 21:15 and we got seated around 21:45 and appetizers came out promptly . The portion of the food and the taste and quality was great for the amount paid . Not sure if the waitstaff was overwhelmed due to the high volume of customers but service seemed a bit lackluster . The place has an old school / meets NYC Italian vibe .

Me and my girlfriend were here for a date night and we had good time there! The food is really delicious and portions are really big! The personal was professionals who will take care of you and doing their job at high level!
Be the first to ReplyThe ambiance is derivative a la The Smith.
The waiters are friendly, but the service is very slow (I blame the kitchen), even for a Monday night in a half-empty restaurant. The food was just OK, passable for a casual diner, but not up to Tao Group standards, and severely overpriced given the quality. The tuna tartar was bland; the baked clams were uninspired; the much-hyped meatball (their signature appetizer) was not moist, very dense, gristly and chewy; the "bone-in veal chop" was just a veal cutlet drowned in a citrus sauce and cheese with a random bone thrown on top; the pasta bolenaise was interesting, but, again, way too cheesy; and the shishito peppers did not need to be buried under a mountain of breadcrumbs and cheese (and this coming from someone who loves cheese). Sadly, this place looks like it lives off the bygone era of the once-overhyped Lavo nightclub. Would not come here again.

Lavo uptown has the best happy hour! I ordered the flight of 3 drinks for $15. More than worth it! Especially for the ambiance and place! Service was okay.

We were a party of 3 with reservations for 8:30pm and we were not seated until 8:50pm. The maître d was overwhelmed and not polite at all. There were two who seemed inexperienced which shocked me for a restaurant of this stature. The hostess who finally seated us was the best part of the experience because she actually apologized and made sure we sat at a table of our choice. The waiter's service started off pleasant, however declined as the evening continued. Yes, the restaurant was full, but again, a restaurant of this caliber is expected to be able to withstand a full house on a Friday night. Our drinks and appetizers came out relatively quickly. We ordered the RUBINA ROSA, SANGA-RITA and BASILICO. The best was the RUBINA ROSA, the others tasted very watered down. We ordered from the NYC Restaurant Week Menu. For appetizers we had the ARANCINI and EGGPLANT ROLLATINI. Both were pretty good. For our main course, we all made the mistake of ordering the 12 HOUR BRAISED SHORT RIB with Winter Greens Risotto, Spigarello. Usually we would each order different items but the waiter suggested this and praised it as the best item on the menu. The only highlight about this meal was that the short rib was very tender, which should be expected of a 12 hour braised meat. However, there was no flavor whatsoever. I usually do not add additional salt to my food but I had to in order to continue eating. The risotto was undercooked and flavorless as well. After receiving this tasteless meal, the waiter had not checked on us for at least another 45 minutes, which I was very appalled by. Basically, he had not stopped by our table since taking our order. I watched him bustling around the restaurant and continuing to wait other tables. He appeared stressed and overwhelmed just like the maître d. Again, I go back to the fact that a restaurant of this caliber should know how to handle a Friday night. When he finally came over to check on us, he apologized and stated that he thought we were still eating since our plates had a lot of food. Sadly, our plates had a lot of food because the food was too gross to finish. Still, no excuse to not check on us after receiving our meal to make sure we were ok. By the time he took our dessert order we were completely unenthused, as our moods were disappointed and just ready to leave this establishment. We had the NEW YORK STYLE CHEESECAKE and OREO ZEPPOLES. The CHEESECAKE was subpar, nothing to rave about. The OREO ZEPPOLES were actually pretty good. Overall, I WOULD NOT return to this restaurant. Tao across the street, which is apart of the same restaurant group as Lavo is like night and day with the complete opposite service. This is astonishing to me, as they need to get Lavo on the same level. The ambiance is also better at Tao. Lavo seems very outdated and has no decor whatsoever.
Be the first to ReplyCame to a party at the nightclub so my review only covers
Came to a party at the nightclub so my review only covers that. The security policy was quite strict but I'd gotten my ticket and had my vaccine proof (since they required this in late January/early February) so no issues there. Definitely a nice scene but this could just be because of the event I went to. No issues getting water and the bathroom was pretty good. No complaints here and it definitely had a feel of exclusivity and fun. If I didn't have to pay to go to an event, I'd probably return.
Be the first to ReplyMy friends and I were craving Italian so we decided on this
My friends and I were craving Italian so we decided on this place and I'm so glad; we started out with margherita pizza, spaghetti and meatballs, rigatoni ala vodka, and finished off with the fried Oreos. I wouldn't say this is the most authentic Italian place, but it's definitely good pasta and even better service. The crowd/environment itself is pretty loud, so I'd come here for a night out with friends to get the mood going. Also, the club is right next door so that's nice especially with how cold it is.

I don't understand why Lavo hired this garbage! Don't park your car in front of Lavo! Even you paid valet parking! This guy won't let me in Lavo because of I parked my car in front of Tao! He is not a cop! He doesn't have any place to tell me where to park! And he is so rude!

The service was excellent! My steak was perfectly seasoned and cooked perfectly medium-rare! I was alone, getting a late dinner and drink so I sat at the bar, the bartender provided amazing service as well!

Not your typical risotto presentation especially regarding the color but nevertheless, still delicious! 12-hour braised short rib atop a wintergreen risotto and spigarello from Lavo in NYC.Pro Tip: Make a reservation because it gets packed and often booked up well in advance.

Having tried Lavo in Vegas, i decided to try it out for my birthday here in NY. It just so happen to be restaurant week as well so that worked out even better. we got to experience various items on their menu and at a reasonable price. I've never had charred octopus.. oh my it was good, the bean ragout was really tasty as well. the eggplant "meatballs" were a hit. it tasted meaty and filling. we also tried the salmon tartar which was nice but really needed to come with crackers. for our mains we had the penne alla vodka, chicken picatta, shrimp alla napolitana and the 12 hour braised short rib. All of our mains were scrumptious. The short rib presentation threw me a bit off with its green coloring of the risotto. but once you tasted the creaminess and the short rib just fell apart once you stuck your fork in to it. it was worth all 12 hours. The staff and servers are phenomenal. The DJ was really good as well. Make sure to make reservations as it does get really busy, especially if you are celebrating.
Be the first to ReplyIt was my boyfriends birthday and he wanted lavo.
I made a reservation for 9pm earlier that day to secure a table. We arrive about 10 minutes earlier than expected and we see that the restaurant is very busy but nonetheless we stayed patient. Our time comes up to be seated and they give us a random table a few feet away from the hostess and main door. Obviously this was unacceptable for us, so I demanded another table in the main dinning area. Thirty minutes later we finally are seated. Our kind waiter comes and we know what we want right away. For drinks I had the white sangria (I forgot the name and didn't take a picture of the drink menu), and a patron on ice. For appetizers we had oysters and salmon tartare. It was my first time ever having oysters and I was completely amazed at how well they were. For our main course we ordered the spaghetti carbonara and penne ala vodka. Unfortunately the wait for my entree spaghetti carbonara was taking too long and I was full but also annoyed that it was taking long just for my plate. I kindly asked the waiter to cancel my order and he instead packed my meal to go and took it off the bill. The most empathetic waiter ever ! Overall I did like our food but dinner on a late Friday night might have to be pushed earlier. This is the only reason why I give a 3 star rating.
Be the first to ReplyI came to Lavo for the restaurant week lunch special.
While the food was delicious, do not be fooled. The restaurant week special is actually more expensive than their lunch prix fixe menu during normal times.Their normal lunch prix fixe menu is $29.95 for 3 courses (appetizer, entree, and dessert). For restaurant week, they charge $29 for 2 courses (appetizer and entree) and if you want to add a dessert, it's an additional $5. There is no difference between the two menus as all of the options you can pick are the exact same. When I asked the waitress how this was considered a special deal when the price is actually more expensive, she said "I don't know, but they must know what they're doing!" Yes, they do know! They are scamming you. She then said, "for restaurant week, they took away the normal lunch menu that was $29.95 and replaced it with the $29 restaurant week deal." Therefore, you can't even opt for the normal price as they took away that option.Don't come here for restaurant week and go somewhere else. You'll be better off actually trying a restaurant that is not taking advantage of you and charging extra for this special twice-yearly event.
Be the first to ReplyVery obviously a place that used to be cool and allowed
Very obviously a place that used to be cool and allowed their food standards to drop as a result. The service was fine overall and the crowd was mixed (we went on the earlier side so it's likely more lively/younger later on). My group tried a bunch of different things to start including the eggplant lasagna, the Caesar salad, and the truffle fries. All were just fine but nothing spectacular. The entrees we got were also varied and included penne a la vodka and pizza. Our table got noticeably quiet once the food arrived, not because we were all happily eating, but because we all realized we were about to pay way too much for extremely mediocre food. Bland and kind of soulless is how I would describe it. In sum, I don't think it's worth going to this now desolate part of Manhattan for overpriced and under-seasoned food.
Be the first to ReplyThis was a very solid meal.
The salmon was well portioned and perfectly cooked. The octopus app was very tasty and cook perfectly. Base pasta a more sauce, chop tomato consistency but the sauce was rich enough to keep sauce and tomato nicely blended.I had a fe Manhattan that were tasty. I would for sure return. Service a little slow and 5 stars are best in class this is a strong choice but not best ever.

This restaurant is EVERYTHiNG! Took my fiance here for his birthday and I was on pins and needles on if he would enjoy it. Well the assignment was understood and I passed the test. From the moment we got out our Uber in front of the restaurant to the moment we left, customer service was on point! Vaccination cards were checked which is a big thing for me being in healthcare because we know there are places not doing a "good" check!Once we checked in about our reservation, we were brought to our table and we were not that happy with the initial table given and they happily, and if she was not happy about our change request she did not show it, moved to a better area. Service was seamless with the waiter coming right after being seated and while we could tell he had a number of tables, we did not feel it.The food was AMAZING! My fiance had the lamb chops which he ordered medium rare and were brought out well-temperatured and to his liking. I was permitted to have a bite and thought it was well-seasoned and prepared as well. I ordered the spaghetti carbonara which is my immediate go-to because I just love that dish. Well all I have to say it is probably the best variation of this dish I have ordered in awhile. It was such a generous serving and I thought I would have enough to brung home but before I knew it I ate it all. I was stuffed resulting in us waking back to our hotel to work off all that great food. LOL my only regret is that my waiter did not bring the gigantic pepper mill to put pepper on my food that they were walking around with but I will live! This would be a definite re-visit for me and the family. I am looking for another reason to end back up in this great establishment!

Came here for a bday dinner with friends and fam Great ambiance and good music (mostly hip hop & r&b) The drinks were more on the juicy side. The service was good our server Sean made sure we were well taken care of. I did see a few comments saying they were racist but that wasn't the vibe I got. I would def recommend to others.
Be the first to ReplyLAVO was a great venue to host a Christmas Eve Sweet 16
LAVO was a great venue to host a Christmas Eve Sweet 16 dinner for our Spanish foreign exchange student. The food was delectable, the service was friendly and efficient, the ambiance was perfect for an NYC evening dinner, and the DJ knew all of my favorite songs. We were lucky to stumble upon this spot last minute on Christmas Eve. Thank you, LAVO, for a memorable experience.
Be the first to ReplyHonestly, I'm impressed.
