Our fourth visit , see other reviews , warm welcome on arrival, this time for a Birthday Lunch for my son and daughter and their partners. Another great experience and service from the Front of Office team backed again by the quality of food, attention to detail, blend of flavours and presentation were stunning again from Ben Murphy and his team. Highly recommended , very enjoyable family lunch, ending with cake and candle for my Daughter and Son, Thank you Launceston Place , we are all looking forward to further visits.
Be the first to ReplyA non-foodie visits a very foodie restaurant
I'm sure I'm not the only person who doesn't consider themselves a "foodie" but has always wanted to try the sort of place where you can imagine Heston Blumenthal performing experiments in the kitchen. This is very much a review for similar-minded people. It's a lovely little setting in a quiet Kensington backstreet. So far, so normal. But from then on it's something altogether different. The menu is bonkers. I don't mean by that, that the food is bizarre. I literally mean the medium used to allow you to choose your food is bonkers. Instead of a typical menu, you're presented with a plastic board with circular holes in it, which in turn are filled with plastic circular pieces. You then have to remove the circles to reveal the options written underneath, then remember where you saw food you liked and remove the correct corresponding circle before handing the "menu" back to the waitress. It's like a memory test mixed with the sort of motor skills test you'd have to undergo if you'd just come out of a prolonged coma. I ordered the pigeon, which was actually a starter but they were happy to do it as a main. I had a small fish course to start. But before then, the amuse bouches! (I assume that's the correct plural of amuse bouche. Anyway, there were three of them.) The best was the steak tartare and caviar taco. There was also a chicken broth, which, to my uncultured philistine pallet seemed to be similar to a thin chicken gravy (not a fan). There was another, which I shan't try to describe but was a fish dish, which I enjoyed. The fish was a small but chunky, meaty, starter, but not particularly hot. Excellent flavours though. Then the main. I seem to recall (it's weeks since I went there) that we were offered help correctly pairing our wines with our food but I saw an Aussie red that would go with the pigeon and had opted for that. It was not cheap...though compared to many other options on the menu, it was a bargain. The pigeon was beautifully presented, with its accompaniment brought over separately. I wasn't really sure how to react when the waitress came over and announced "Your chip, sir." Never in my life have I heard the *singular* word for chips used to present a whole portion of food. With the gravitas of a royal coronation, a wooden board with - as I had been told - my single chip upon it, was laid before me. It was, to be fair, a large chip. Square, and unlike any chip I had ever seen before, covered in (if I remember correctly), truffle salt. And it was delicious. And just the right amount of food. So there you have it. A pretty expensive but unique night out. Was the food good? Yes. Did it blow me away? Not really. Is that because I'm a caveman, too gastronomically illiterate to enjoy fine dining? Almost certainly. If fine dining is your cup of tea though, I recommend it.
Be the first to ReplyCulinary Magic - Incredible Experience
Firstly I must start off by saying that the service in Launceston Place is some of the friendliest and most professional I’ve ever received. It far surpassed a 2 Michelin Starred restaurant I visited recently. I’ve genuinely never seen such an attentive and passionate team, that clearly love what they do. The restaurant itself is beautiful, but not overly stuffy and pretentious. I like to think they’ve made the food the star of the show, and not an overtly pompous surrounding. Once seated, we chose our wine and started on our culinary journey. We opted for the three-course menu, but also added on an extra cheese course which they kindly let us do. However, due to the various Amuse Bouche that were bought out, alongside Petit Fours, it ended up being around 6 courses. Some of the highlights included the very tasty selection of Amuse Bouche, the Monkfish main course and the Chocolate dessert. The whole experience was expertly provided by the incredible front-of-house staff (particularly James who was a delight) and I couldn’t fault anything on any of the dishes. If you’re looking for a special meal out, then you will not be disappointed at Launceston Place. It’s nothing short of culinary magic – with a service to match!
Be the first to ReplyStunning food, excellent service, incredible value
Had a wonderful lunch at Launceston Place with my wife and 14 year old son. We were blown away with the attention to detail on every dish and the flavours were stunning. Faultless, warm service. Amazing value for a true fine dining experience. Highly recommended
Be the first to ReplyFabulous Lunch
We loved going to see Cirque du Soleil at the Royal Albert Hall as but only is it a great show but it gives us an excuse (not that we need one !) to dine at Launceston Place. We visited for lunch and had a lovely meal. We opted for the 3 courses for £39 (what great value) and ordered the ceviche and chicken parfait for our starters (both were excellent) and then the cod and quail for our mains (again both excellent) and enjoyed with a couple of glasses of Nyetimber Blanc de Blanc and then a bottle of Albariño. Our desserts were equally lovely and we enjoyed the cheese as well as the rhubarb tart. You can also order the eggs and soldiers course which get served first and tasted so good - they charge an extra £9 for that. The serving team are fabulous - looked after us very well but also very friendly and happy to stand and chat. All round a fabulous lunch which came to £195 including service as well as water and a tea and coffee - can’t wait to go back.
Be the first to ReplySpectacular tasting menu
My husband and I brought our son here on his 18th birthday to enjoy the lunch time tasting menu. The whole experience was wonderful. Every element in the menu was delicious and beautifully presented; the staff were charming and attentive. We honestly could not have wished for a better celebration.
Be the first to ReplyI cant wait to go back
My new favorite spot in London. Three course meal very reasonably priced, staff is excellent, quaint spot, and the food is over the top. They will get their first star for sure this spring. I cant wait to return. The ceviche was incredibly tasty and creative.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing dinner experience.
The dinner experience at launceston place was fantastic. The place had a very nice atmosphere . We had the tasting menu with wine paring. This included some complementary dishes before and after the 6 courses menu. Each dish looked amazing and tasted fantasic. The wine took us on a wine journey through several countries, and was a perfect combination with the food. Complements to Chef Patron Ben and his team in the kitchen. The team in the restaurant was extremely professional and at the same time very friendly. They all made our dinner a highlight of our trip. The price was absolutely fair compared to the quality and effort put into the dishes. This place deserves to become a michelin star restaurant. Until then you are all stars to us. Thanks. Kristin and Trond

Best tasting menu we've enjoyed! Food was absolutely delicious, lamb was delicate and tender will definitely be back. Special thanks to Felix for making our dining experience the best!
Be the first to ReplyNice food. Bad payment principles.
This restaurant is a good experience. I would give it five stars, had it not been for their intolerance to cash payments. As a principle, I will not support restaurants with such principles moving forward.

Yet another excellent dinner with friends here with wonderful, attentive service. We have been coming here for many years and it never disappoints. All courses were outstanding though the Honey dessert deserves a special mention.
Be the first to ReplyANOTHER GREAT EXPERIENCE
A return visit one year on, a warm welcome and another great experience from the team at Launceston Place. Front of house service and attention backed by a fantastic quality of food, presentation skills and menu designed by a an outstanding Chef in Ben Murphy and his team. Michelin star quality service and food at its best, when will this restaurant get a Michelin star , they are up with other Michelin's star restaurants my wife and I have been too. Thank you again everyone at Launceston Place, we will back again. Highly recommended.

Visited the restaurant for their tasting menu and I've experienced many many a chef's tasting--this is the first I've had where every bite was delicious, nicely portioned, and beautifully plated. The wait staff was professional and very helpful. I loved the simple design of the restaurant and that it was in a quiet residential area. The power was packed in the food, the thought and flavors that went into each course. I hope to visit again.
Be the first to ReplySophisticated elegant restaurant in quiet back street
Very nice lunch in this elegant and peaceful restaurant. In a quiet back street near the Royal Albert Hall it is ideal for a pre concert meal. We had sunday lunch there recently and it was excellent. Highly recommended.
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding food that is definitely Michelin star worthy...and then some!
This is the second time I've visited this restaurant and it did not disappoint. A measure of a good tasting menu for me, is how many of the dishes you can recall, for all the right reasons, months on. This restaurant will leave its food firmly in the memory banks! It was nearly a year between our visit and in that year the menu development meant that the food was even more outstanding but let's not forget the wine pairings. These were inventive, interesting and fabulously paired coming from unusual places all across the globe and not just safe picks from the usual European destinations. I can't recommend this place enough, the menu prices are exceptionally reasonable for the quality of food you receive. I've paid 3 times this amount for a lot less. In a nutshell, go, you won't be disappointed. The staff, food and ambience will delight.

Without doubt, one of the finest dining experiences I have ever had the pleasure to enjoy. I have dined at some of the finest restaurants around the world, and can say the meal at Launceston Place compares with any of them. The food, the wine flight, the ambience, the pace of service; every mouthful was an utter joy. Thank you!

My favourite place. The high quality and presentation was exquisitive. I will come 100 times more :)))
Be the first to ReplyIncredible restaurant and deserves more accolades
What a beautiful restaurant. If this isn’t 2 Michelin star on the next review god knows why. Amazing service, incredible food and superb value lunch. 3 courses, amuses Bouche, delicious bread and butter and petit fours for £39 - you’d pay that for 3 courses in your local pub.
Be the first to ReplyA Delightful Lunch
Celeriac, Quail, and Yuzu are absolutely delicious; the rest on the lunch tasting menu is nice as well. Ordered a glass of Taittinger, spilled it accidentally, and the staff dealt with the situation very professionally. Also tried the orange wine by glass: made in Japan, crisp and refreshing. Will come back for dinner.

Before lock down I used Launceston Place quite often for business lunches as well as personal entertaining , so this was the first time back in over two years- how I missed you!
The new decoration is relaxing and the lay out as it was , but more importantly the food and service ? Simply superb.
With a non drinking guest, we selected the seven course tasting lunch and I had a few well chosen "by the glass" wines . The choice of the latter was excellent and finding one to complement any of the courses was easy, although I only had a couple of glasses!
Service was impeccable equalled only by the food . The introductory complementary snacks, a smoked haddock tube and a beef tartare taco were sublime - i really wanted more. Highlights for me in the tasting menu were the egg and soldiers, the quail and the apple/white chocolate desert, but that's not to say I didn't enjoy the other courses .
The quality of food and service for the lunch time tasting menu is real value for money . So glad Covid is leaving us to get back to the joys of eating out here again . Loved it
Two words - Top Notch!
A simply outstanding hidden gem - a very warm authentic welcome to an immaculate restaurant. The food on the tasty (tasting!) menu was creative and different - ingredients all superb and high quality. Service was genuinely friendly, fun and super helpful. The wine list and sommelier leave you spoilt for choice. Top notch Ben and entire team - can't wait to come back again

From start to finish the service was excellent! Every dish we ordered tasted incredible and looked simply stunning. A lovely environment nestled in a beautiful part of London. I couldn't recommend Launceston Place highly enough!

I had bought a three course lunch here as part of a Virgin Experience Voucher for my mum's Christmas present, and wanted to give a 5-star review as it was a really fabulous afternoon. The service was thoughtful and attentive and Francesco was a lovely waiter. I loved the special touches to the experience- the complimentary bread and butter, mini tacos and fudge were all delicious and an unexpectedly kind touch which I didn't expect given that we were paying with a voucher. Plus these extras helped to keep me full for the whole day!
The chequerboard menu was fun and I was delighted with my food (as was my mother). I'd really recommend the celeriac starter - a delicious salty sweetness to it. And the carrot cake was soo good. Beautifully presented food and the perfect portion size for a lunch. I have eaten in quite a few 'fine dining' restaurants and Launceston Place stood out for me as an absolutely wonderful experience and excellent food. Plus, my mum, who has never eaten out somewhere like this, had her mind blown by it haha. We will be back!
Food, experience and personality. More than a meal
Recommended by a colleague who set high expectations for Head Chef Ben Murphy's food. Did not disappoint. A quaint dining setting with dim light is elevated by the friendly service throughout the restaurant. Food and wine was a delight. Dining with 3 friends, we had dinner tasting menu. It was presented with a playful and nostalgic narrative (I won't spoil the surprise!). My personal favourite was the turbot and asparagus as a white fish fanatic.
