If you do one thing in Italy, go here
Tagliata is not a restaurant. It is not a farm. It is an experience. And if you skip it, you have made a terrible mistake. Every local will tell you it’s the best. And they’re right. It’s rare you will find a restaurant packed to the gills with groups of tourists and locals and manage to have everyone have the time of their lives. The view is the best you will ever see and worth the trip (transport provided by Tagliata to local hotels) alone. Tony is a saint and a maestro. He keeps the party (and the food!) moving and welcomes you in like family. I won’t say what, but he left us with a very special personal touch that we will remember forever. The food is world class, all from the farm, and there is so much of it you will need to be rolled home (plus the ever-flowing house wine). The ravioli was the star for me, but even simple things like a sampling of peas blew me away. The final bill will floor you with how affordable it is. I would have been happy to pay 3x as much. Do them a favor and pay with cash! We had entertainment, singing and dancing. I wish TripAdvisor let you post videos, because I have rarely seen such a large group of strangers on their feet having the time of their lives. Everyone left so, so happy. Just beaming on the shuttle home. I was up until the middle of the night drunkenly sending videos back home in astonishment. We are forever grateful for our visit to Tagliata.

What an amazing time. A must visit when in Positano. We took the shuttle to the restaurant very easily. Plan ahead and take the cooking class they offer. It is truly a bucket list experience. Farm to table. The family's passion for what they do and how hard they work is humbling.
Be the first to ReplyTrue Italian Experience
La Tagliata was recommended to us by our driver and it was truly an awesome experience. No menu, just pure Italian Hospitality. If you are looking for an experience like Nina’s kitchen you will love it!

I’ve been to this restaurant several times The view is amazing. The food has decreased I That taste and value have decreased . Even pasta dishes overcooked. Rushed meal. DISSAPOINTING!

Be the first to ReplyWorst meal in two weeks in Italy
La Tagliata was recommended by our hotel,. The restaurant provided a shuttle service, which was just as well, as we found out the restaurant was located in the hills high above Positano. No other information was provided. Our first surprise after we were seated was there was not going to be a menu to order from. Instead we were told this would be a 4-course set dinner. Since we were captive on a rainy night far from Positano, there wasn’t anything to say. The food came in torrents, many plates slapped on the table at a time. Multiple starters, multiple pastas, good sized portions, much more than we could eat, before a platter of 7 grilled meats as the main, and finally four plates of desserts. Through this, the problem was the attitude of the lead server felt strongly like “this is what we serve, eat it.” Not once did he ask whether anyone in our party of six had any food allergies or restrictions. Attempts at conversations about what some of the dishes were were batted down with very curt replies bordering on rude. We asked for a wine menu and the sharp retort was “you’re not having OUR wine?”. Here’s the kicker - while a couple of the dishes were tasty enough, some were decidedly average, and a couple were just plain bland, and not particularly memorable. The steak was raw in one spot, the pork was quite tasteless. At least if the food was great, we might have put up with the service. At least if the service was great, we might have accepted the mediocre food and called it a pleasant night. Instead, it was a terrible dinner which felt like it was rammed and shouted down our throats. Last came the bill, 50 Euros each which added salt to our injury. The dinner, apart from voluminous food we had zero chance to pick, was nowhere near worth it. Organic farm ingredients perhaps, but overall we felt like there was very little care put into this meal experience in almost all respects. Perhaps we should have been better informed before we went. Case in point, we saw two patrons leaving (in a huff) just after the first course. It was very obvious it was because they were vegetarian and also had no idea what they were getting into when they stepped into that shuttle. Obviously this restaurant does not have our recommendation.
Be the first to ReplyCYour Expectations
Having seen several terrific reviews, my expectations were through the roof. I was sure this would be the highlight of our trip to Positano - at least from a food perspective. I was drawn in by the thoughts of homegrown, family-prepared food, and as much as we could eat. Boy, those views were going to be fantastic! Plus, they’d pick us up on the free shuttle. What more could we ask for? Well, I confirmed our reservation and our ride on the morning of our dinner. Confirmed! Of course our shuttle will pick you up! As we waited outside our hotel as directed, thank goodness the bellman knew where we were going and flagged down a bus that was flying past the hotel. No markings, and no identifier, but we trusted our hotel staff. Up, up, up we went, randomly dropping people off and picking them up as we climbed the hills. We hoped we were headed to La Tagliata. After a hair-raising drive of about 25 minutes, we were dropped at the restaurant. Turns out that there are unmarked buses that service the area, and the buses are in fact the restaurant shuttle. Once inside, people were directed right or left, every couple in front of us was directed left, and we were directed right. We were seated at a table in the back of a very large room, very far from any potential view. Ok, luck of the draw. However, we were in a room with a group of 40+ people - clearly a tour group of some sort. Our table seemed an afterthought. Sort of like sitting in the back at a wedding. We were greeted by our server who explained that he was having a terrible day, and he was clearly exasperated. The food arrived - four plates of food, half of which was described, and half we were left to figure out. The big group received a plate at a time along with explanations. Things really went downhill when the large group's entertainer came out. Realized quickly that the big table at my foot was an amplifier. So now it's like we were stuck at the back table at a distant relative's wedding. Not the romantic experience I was hoping for. Food was good. Pasta dishes were very good, meat dishes - not so much. There was plenty, and thank goodness they kept refilling the wine. The wine saved us. Honestly, we couldn't wait to finish and leave. Once again, we heard "the shuttle will be here in 2 minutes." We threw our money down and raced out to catch the shuttle - just another local bus with no markings that ultimately got us back to our hotel. Would I go back? No. Would I suggest that you try it - yes. My advice is to go early (before dark) so that you get the views. I also suggest that you temper your expectations, and if they give you a table that doesn't look great - just ask to move.

Absolutely loved it!! The cooking class is absolutely amazing, picked fresh vegetables and got taught how to cook the Italian way! Was an unreal experience and one I’ll remember forever, price is worth it, I’d pay anything to do that class. The staff are exceptional, their enjoyment and genuineness with having fun and teaching us was awesome!! I’m 21 with a group of 4 people, and there were families, children, and other couples who absolutely loved it too! Overall, would highly recommend, worth every penny, and is something you won’t regret once you’re there. It’s a must
Be the first to ReplyOne of the best dining experiences in Positano! CANNOT BEAT THE VALUE!!
We had outstanding meals at several establishments while staying in Positano and La Tagliata would rank as the best dinner we had. We arranged a dinner reservation through our hotel. First, they provide transportation to and from the restaurant. Very convenient. Second, the views are incredible when you are perched up at that altitude. Third, their house wine was very well received. The food was absolutely perfect and the service was really excellent. They are so kind and attentive to preparing and presenting their food as well as taking care of their customers. Lastly, the price! I feel like they significantly undercharge for the dining experience and the bill could easily have been 3x or 4x down in town for an equivalent meal. They prefer you pay in cash if you can be prepared ahead of time. I highly recommend you not miss this restaurant when you go to Positano.
Be the first to ReplyFun interactive cooking class on a farm high in the mountains of Positano. BE PREPARED TO EAT AND DRINK! A must DO
Fun, interactive cooking class from start to finish with wine! From the moment you enter you’re handed persecco as you admire the insane view from high above Positano. The feed you antipasti then take you on a journey through their farm (wear sneakers but bring sandals for cooking). Then your journey will continue to see their property, meet the family and animals then the magic happens! The cooking class is the BEST I have taken. Totally interactive with their “gasoline” homemade wine 😉. The music starts… Antonietta and her husband Renato put on a show throughout the experience! We even had a visit from Mama and Papa!! What an amazing day!! Be PREPARED TO EAT, and EAT and DRINK! They opened their farm as friends and ended up like part of their family! BOOK THIS NOW! It fills up quickly! Highly recommend having them book your taxi, it’s up in the mountains of Positano. Bravo Antoinetta!! Grazie!
Be the first to ReplyMust visit in Positano. End of.
You need to come to Le Tagliata if you come to Positano. I have never had more fun at a restaurant (live music!) plus the food was neverending and delicious. It was such a treat, such good value, incredible views, and the staff (all family!) were so hardworking and lovely. I cannot recommend this place enough.

Wow amazing! So much food and when you think that’s it more comes out. Haven’t eaten food as good as this since my nonna was alive. Highly recommend this place, just don’t eat the whole day before going there.
Be the first to ReplyImpressive Awesome Mustgo-place Yoi won’t be disappointed!
This place is a sensation! A must in Positano if you want to have something special! Once you arrive with their free shuttle offered from Positano, you are surprised by the amazing view! But even more! This real family business is serving you during the evening like a family member! The food is very authentic! The personal is extremely friendly and attentive! The guests are mixed, international and all very pleased , well rather impressed and excited. The most amazing thing is that there is a kind of relaxed atmosphere I have never ever experienced in a restaurant which has quite some guests on three floors. Many thanks to Stefanie Sonnentag who highly recommended this place!
Be the first to ReplyGreat food. Amazing views.
Great food. Great view. Service was outstanding. Tucked on the side of the mountain. We had the never ending food display. For $50E we ate until we couldn’t walk anymore. Just outside of Positano this place is worth the trip.
Be the first to ReplyGo for the view stay for….nothing else.
There’s no doubting the view is spectacular. But everything/anything else?! We booked months in advance to secure a table at the window but were seated on top of the kitchen. The shuttle arrived 35 minutes late meaning we missed sunset (the whole point of going!), the staff were rude, three plates of food down without explaining what they were. All OK as we laughed it off as a funny authentic Italian experience but when the main course came out we were done. The meat was horribly overcooked, so tough we could not eat any of it. To top it off, the shuttle didn’t take us back to where it picked us up so we had to walk half an hour back to our accommodation.
Be the first to ReplyVery disappointing ; 2nd and last visit
Had such high expectations / fond memories of this restaurant from our stay in Positano 12 years ago. At that time it seemed authentic, homemade, a unique concept and a great value. The views were fantastic! At that time a private car picked us up from our Positano hotel and dropped us off. Each table was driven separately, it felt very exclusive and tremendous value add. I am not sure if we just had too much wine previously, tastes evolved or the place is just 100% different now than it was but this experience was the exact opposite. When I mentioned a desire to book here with my hotel the front desk women seemed to make a face which I should have recognized but I overlooked it at the time. The wait staff was more rude/crude than the friendly "family" welcoming us into their home than I remember. Everything seemed so fake / rehearsed catering to the American tourist crowd. Due to a wedding party booking the main restaurant we were all seated in a small side room with zero views. The place overall has expanded greatly from our first visit but the added spaces lack the views and ambience of the main area (only area previously) Quite a few people around the room complained about lack of any view they were likely promised/expecting. Some of the pasta dishes were very good but the majority of the food served was average buffet quality as they are cooking everything in mass quantities. The meat in the main course platter is of very low quality. I am a big meat eater and did not like the majority of the meat platter. Desserts seemed store bought not homemade. Everything was quantity over quality to the extreme! They serve many courses and large family style portions of each course. The amount of food served is over the top, which could be seen as a good thing or very wasteful as it was uncommon / non-existent to see a course finished around the room. We had our young daughter with us and were charged the full 50 euro pp for her as well which I did not think was fair. She eat very little, drink only water and our table of 3 received the same amount of food as the tables of 2. I did not complain about this but paid by credit card and did not leave a tip despite the rather rude waitstaff constant plead for cash payment and behavior encouraging/expecting tips from everyone in the room. Maybe 12 years ago I would not have been wise enough to see through that but it totally came across as unprofessional this time. Unlike our private car experience 12 years prior, now a large number of diners are combined in a shuttle van both coming and going and felt more like cattle herding with most diners finishing their meal and only realizing after they left the restaurant that they would need to wait outside for the other diners to also finish before the shuttle came to pick everyone up again. I would still rate it as a good value for the amount of food, free wine, shot of lemoncello and the included shuttle but other than that have nothing positive to say about our 2022 experience. Sadly this place seems to have become a tourist trap and I would recommend you avoid! It is possible the fact there was a wedding party taking up the main restaurant just made the experience completely different but if so they should have not taken reservations or offered a discount that evening. Of the approx. 20 people in our shuttle about 6 were glowingly happy and 14 visibly frustrated so was without question a love it or hate it type dining experience with no in between.
