🤮 1/5 - After leaving my comfortable apartment in Jamaica, Queens

After leaving my comfortable apartment in Jamaica, Queens for a midtown event that did not go so well, I chose to return to La Mercerie for a cocktail and dessert. They did not, as usual, pick up the telephone so that I may reserve a table and see how long I'd have. To my dismay, I realized that the same waitress had not been fired and attended my table. They did not have the mulled wine I had last time and wanted again, and this waitress with a stern and condescending look explained they switched to a citron Spring cocktail menu. Her attitude to me, different from that of the people to my left and right, was different. Is she the world expert on food? Are people from an older culture, Greek, with better food that centuries ago called Europeans and everyone else "barbarians" supposed to know about some citron festival? Maybe I can teach her a trillion things I know that she doesn't. But she can't afford it, and probably wouldn't understand most. They had thrown out the food I was going to take home last time without waiting fifteen minutes and I asked if I could order half of two desserts. The answer was "no" with an attitude. I asked if there were coffee refills, and she said that I could order another coffee with attitude. She was surprised that I said that it was not worth another $6. I did order another one. The new waiter did top it off when it got cold. I should have been given a free one to endure her service with a bizarre attitude and a bizarre air she should have an attitude with anyone, let alone me. She seemed surprised that I noticed that the profiterole had ice cream in it and should not have it. [The best profiterole I ever had, including compared to any in Greece or Italy, was at Dante Cafe by NYU. The cafe is now closed, and may still be occupied by an Australian place.]It seemed as I told two managers, that she had the attitude that I didn't know food or French food. What if I were illiterate and only ate at McDonald's? Most McDonald's have better service and, compared to some plates I had before, better food. I can go on about my credentials next to hers, and more, but the point is, the service was rude and I switched waiters again. The new person, polite, didn't come over until I signaled him. I asked how long I could stay. He said awhile, and when I asked again, he said the table has a 9:20 reservation. The hostess said 9:30 pm. He lied to clean it. That is understandable, but a lie.On top of everything, the trains were deplorable and it took me two and a half hours to go home. I did some personal work. But saving over $30 and making hot cocoa and enjoying it on my couch would have been MUCH better.I do not think the management is serious about saying anything to this woman. I saw no one speak to her. I would not mind if she were fired and if the place went out of business. Perhaps she should try dog walking and pick up what is better than her attitude to customers. I wouldn't return if they were to pay me a million dollars. DONE
