Must try!
Ramen is comfort food to many people.
Personally I have tried many kind of ramen from Michelin stared, to rather strange ones (in Japan) nevertheless all of them have their own unique taste to suit different palates.
For me in Kaijiken (they are here for some years already) from the first bowl I ate until now, every bowl, the quality has been very consistent (for the record I'm King status) it has very unusual blend of taste and ingredients in this dry Mazesoba. The combination is just excellent!
Never disappoint me whenever I return for a nice regular bowl of Mazesoba!
For those who have eaten many types of soup ramen (they are yummy of course) you should try at least one time this dry Mazesoba.
Note: Lunch time can be very crowded.
More tasty noodles
Another visit last month for more tasty dry noodles at Kajiken. The Bugis outlet continues to be a better choice in order to avoid queues. Prompt service and decent noodles with no charge for an upsize serving if you need some serious carbs

Back again for another visit to the more peaceful outlet in Tan Quee Lan street in Bugis. Tasty noodles and upsize allowed for no extra charge, meaning that one isn't too hungry after visiting.

I was lucky when I visited the place as there's no queue despite the small size of the shop. I ordered the signature dish but cant remember the name(dry ramen with lots of onion topping). It was a great meal especially to finish with a little bit of japanese rice (FOC upon request) which is a must do thing. The rice soaks all the remaining sauces and gives you the perfect ending.
In conclusion, the food wasn't spectacular but is a good place to have a quick meal and I would go there everyday if I stay nearby.
The food is delicious but not spectacular
My colleagues brought me to this establishment serves dry ramen. We placed our orders and the food arrived pretty quick. You can request for more noodles (without charge).
All-in-all, the food is delicious but not spectacular. Payment is by cash or NETS only when we were there.
Used to be very very good but not anymre
I used to have it for lunch at least 1 a week when i worked in the area (before may 2017).
I came back on October 2018 as a tourist and found the it is not as tasty as before.
I always order taiwan mazesoba nagoya style , never tried others. The complimentary small soup in a cup also taste different now (more peppery soup compare to bone soup).
the noodle and the minced meat sauce also taste different. two of my ex colleagues went together with me in october 2018 also found the different.
Ramen soups for the masses - tasty and good value
Hole in the wall style café, with outside seating. A great selection of Asian soup meals with ramen or soba noodles. Quick service and good quality. Seating outside is in the shade mostly, which is a nice respite from the heat. Very good value for money.
Be the first to ReplyMight be my latest craze
For someone who is very into noodles with soup, I'm also strangely liking this Mazesoba concept very much. Here I am trying the original one ($12.80++) at Kajiken - this one has bamboo shoots & a slice of pork included in it.
The flavour is very different from the other Original one that I first tried at Menya Kokoro, which apparently (according to this menu) is Taiwan Mazesoba Nagoya Style. This has more of a porky ramen flavour. I can't decide which type I like, both are delicious in their own way.
One bonus here is that additional noodles (i.e. "upsize") is free! So of course I said yes to that. The downside is that it's cash terms only, so make sure you have enough dough on ya.
Will return here; I'm pretty sure this isn't the last of my Mazesoba adventures!
