JW Marriott Tampa Water Street Reviews from The Last Year
Perfect staycation at the JW
Fantastic place for a staycation. With a friend in town and the weather not looking ideal for going to the beach, we decided on a last minute staycation at the JW. As a platinum member, we were given an early check in (12pm). Upon arrival, valet parking was very welcoming and friendly. Front desk checking in was super helpful, explaining things about the hotel, the neighborhood and the perks of being able to use facilities at the Marriott across the street. We spent two days at the pool on six. Drinks and food were reasonable prices and the food was surprisingly delicious. One of the waiters had a poor attitude the first day but second day was much more chipper, everyone is allowed to have a bad day here and there. We had access to the executive lounge, which served a solid breakfast in the morning and had snacks/sodas/drinks available all day. Night time was alcohol (honor bar) and some light apps and desserts. We did not eat at any other restaurant or at the cafe downstairs. We had an issue at the pool where a guest was blasting their own music obnoxiously. The front desk handled this quickly and under 5 minutes the music was off and relaxing environment was back in play. Valet pickup was super simple, scan your ticket and give them about 10 minutes. Also, if you have an EV, they have a charger and will charge for you! This is a big perk for us driving down from Orlando. We are also given a 4pm check out, perfect to enjoy the pool one more time. We are really looking forward to our next visit. Thanks JW Marriott!
Executive Club closed on weekends
Please note that the Executive club is closed on the weekends. This was disappointing as it was a factor in my hotel selection. I also did not appreciate the mandatory Destination fee which I was unable to use. Nice hotel but not worthy of the expense. Better options in a Tampa.
Favorite for a discerning traveling 5/5
JW Marriott Tampa boasts stunning decor throughout the lobby and rooms. Check-in is a breeze, and the rooms are meticulously cleaned. The nightly champagne service adds a touch of luxury, while the upscale bar was delicious. The breathtaking pool was a divine treat. Overall, a standout property offering both elegance and convenience. Love this property highly recommend.
Great hotel
Great hotel. Kari at the front desk is a delight. Rooms are clean and spacious. Pool is awesome. Rooftop bar has incredible views and great drinks. Lobby bar also has ton of room to work from during the day. Big fan of this place and will definitely be staying here again in the future.
Mixed Experience at JW Marriott My wife and I recently
Mixed Experience at JW Marriott My wife and I recently stayed at JW Marriott and had a mixed experience that I feel compelled to share. Firstly, I must commend Winky for his exceptional service during check-in. He truly made us feel valued and even surprised us with a special birthday treat in our room. His attentiveness and care were much appreciated throughout our stay. Unfortunately, our dining experience at the steakhouse left much to be desired. Despite the anticipation of a fine dining experience, both the service and food quality fell short of expectations, especially considering the significant amount we were planning to spend. Another disappointment was the lack of late-night service for champagne. As guests of a premium property like JW Marriott, we expected to celebrate on-site. However, we were directed to a nearby hotel to purchase the bottle ourselves, which was unexpected and not in line with our experiences at other luxury hotel brands. Overall, while there were highlights to our stay, such as Winky's exceptional service, the dining and late-night service issues were disappointing. I hope the management takes note of these concerns to maintain the high standards expected of JW Marriott.
Dave West Is Great! Service is always phenomenal!!!
Dave West is the best! We always come back because the service is phenomenal! I have a bad pollen allergy, the room they gave us is hypoallergenic room which helps me to sleep better! Thank you Dave for the room upgrade and amenities for our engagement celebration!
Great 2 night stay
Wonderful stay. My upgraded 1BR suite with a west view was wonderful, clean and well appointed. The staff was very friendly and helpful when needed. Loved the pool (better than the JW across the street). The value of the $30 fee was great and loved the water taxi option in addition to the nightly beverage tasting and $30 food credit. The concierge’s space was great and had a very good breakfast, snacks and dessert.
Only Average
I was at this property working a convention in March 2024. Since I was working, I had asked if it would be possible to get a room with a bathtub as I like to soak my feet after being on them all day. I was told that in order to get a room with a bathtub, I would have to upgrade, which I was unable to do since I was traveling for work. However, I find this policy a bit strange. Would they really charge a family on vacation MORE just so that they could bathe their children in a tub? I was rather unhappy with the shower that was part of my room for two reasons – the first is that the tile flooring was VERY slippery and the second is that the handheld shower head was not one you could actually remove from its holder. Little water came out of it anyway (ever after trying to adjust the water directional) so why even have it there? But the main showerhead worked fine. The water pressure was good and the hot water plentiful so that was a plus. They offer shampoo, conditioner and body wash. I found the bed and pillows to be uncomfortable though that can be hit or miss with hotels but it makes it rough when exhausted and needing a good night's sleep. The bathroom had a makeup mirror, which is not usual but definitely good to have but it was very low on the wall making it a little difficult to use. One positive was the the staff I interacted with were all very pleasant. However, overall, I would not say that this property was any better than average and definitely not a good value.
The bomb.
com if you want a place to go for a 1st time experience of Tampa FL this is the SPOT that is HOT!!!
I have stayed at this hotel on business several times.
It was based on those positive experiences that I booked a stay at the hotel this weekend as a Valentine's Day gift for my wife. While our room at the hotel was fine, my experience with the valet service at checkout this morning ruined the entire experience. At 11:16 a.m. today I used the QR code on my valet ticket to text the hotel's valet service to have my car brought around. After several minutes of not receiving a response, I used the QR code to text the valet service again. This time, I received a response that, "The ticket was already requested." Assuming the car was enroute, I went down to the front door with my wife. After waiting about 15 minutes, a kind older gentleman who is part of the hotel's valet team came up to us and offered to check that are car was on the way. He returned a few moments later to let us know that the key was gone, and our car would be there any minute. After another 15 minutes of waiting, another member of the hotel's valet team, again, an older gentleman, came up to us and offered to check on the status of our car. Again, he returned a few moments later to inform us that the key was gone, and the car should be there. After another 10 minutes of waiting, I went to the valet office to inquire about the status of the car. They confirmed that the key was gone, and someone was retrieving the car (this is now 50 minutes after my original text using the valet ticket QR code). I was then approached by a rather rude manager who sort of apologized for the situation and offered to take the night's $45 fee for the valet service off my room charge. Within 5 minutes, my car arrived - 55 minutes after originally requesting the car. Let me add here that we never observed anyone having to wait more than a few minutes to receive their car. What's more, my wife and I also noticed that we never saw the kid who brought our car around in all the time that we were waiting (Did he take the key and go off somewhere? He offered no explanation for the delay and was not apologetic). The end result of all this is that we ended up arriving late for the Phillies spring training opening game, something we were looking forward to. What a disappointing end to the weekend and a half-hearted attempt at addressing the situation. Think twice before staying here!
Best bet in Tampa Bay
This hotel is fantastic. It is a fairly new hotel right by the awesome Tampa Riverwalk. The staff across the boards were incredibly welcoming, friendly and helpful. The hotel is extremely clean. They have a great spa and fairly well-equipped gym. Stayed here five days this week in a small corner-suite and aside from a hockey game with a little bit of “excitement noise” from the arena next-door that ended by 930 or 10 PM; no noise issues which is incredibly important to me personally. We really loved our week here and will stay here again. Our first trip to Tampa we stayed at the Edition, and although it was aesthetically, pleasing the noise from both the nightclub on the first/second floor and ninth floor sandwiches all the guestrooms in between so it’s tough to get peace inside your guest quarters. And the JW Clearwater not too too far away was fantastic on the second stay, but it’s a little bit too far away from downtown Tampa for us. I must however mention that on our second stay here in the Tampa area we were booked to stay here at the JW, Tampa, Water Street, and we ended up canceling due to some incredibly rude personnel who we dealt with over the phone as related to some minor arrival requests. I take that, however, as an anomaly as our five days here this week could not have been better, and the staff could not have been more welcoming and wonderful. I am incredibly picky, so trust me, you will not be disappointed here!
Anniversary trip in Tampa
The hotel is pretty, great downtown location & walkable to many bars, restaurants, convention center, Amelie Arena, etc. It sits on the Riverwalk. We arrived at 10am and they had a room available which was wonderful. We were there to celebrate 23 yrs of marriage and they upgraded us to a corner king on the 12th floor. Very nice. The room was comfortable, clean, and relatively quiet. Bed was comfy, bathroom & shower big with aromatherapy bath products. We asked for turn down service & got it all but 1 night. I found the hair dryer a bit weak. The heated pools sit on the 6th floor which also has a communal lawn area to gather with games, tables & chairs, stuff like that. The gym and spa are on 6th as well. Hubby said the gym was nice. There are a few restaurants & a rooftop bar. It connects to the Marriott across the street so you get double the options to eat & swim. We did not have a car so cannot comment on the parking situation. We are Marriott BonVoy members so didn’t need to pay for upgraded wifi. It worked fine for us. Minus 1 star for their concierge services. They contacted us via email a few weeks before our arrival to inquire about our favorite wine / dessert to celebrate our anniversary. We responded with our requests & thought it was very thoughtful. In the week leading up to our trip, I emailed them twice to inquire about options to watch the Super Bowl at / near the hotel. I got no response. When we arrived, nothing ever came to our room regarding our anniversary (wine / cake / card). Remember they were the ones to email us originally. Our last day there, my hubby stopped down to ask the front desk, and only then did something come later that day. By then it was too late. Just very odd & they need to re-evaluate their concierge services department. Overall, it was a nice stay minus their concierge.
Convenient location and great hotel
Me and my partner returned to Tampa this past weekend. We had a great time! And this time I treated her to the JW Marriott, the staff was friendly, the room was nice. And you cannot beat the view. Thank you so much for having us! We will return again

5 Star Treatment
Beautiful luxurious treatment! The cleanliness of my stay and sophistication of the staff was top tier. From my warm welcoming to my easy home going, this is definitely apart of my top 5 sleeping accommodations. The spa was also amazing and would highly recommend.

My 5 star getaway for carefully concocted cocktails and an ambiance for days. In these times when good servers are hard to find, they have many. I wouldn't expect stat service for so many but it ain't too shabby. The food is great and it's perfect for those who don't venture out often and just want to get to the point: great drinks and food hangout. Look around. This place has redefined the Tampa skyline....i like it!
if you want to be bullied by their wonderful little rent a cops derek ryan and jacob stay herehere
if you want to get treated like a criminal stay here. I know the NJ devils team for 30 years and I am an amex centurion member not only should the head of security but the gm should be ashamed. They lied w their little puppets security team threatning me and saying the team said I was harrassing them w is complete bs. Never again. The room was digusting the attitudes of the staff and their wonderful security. Who needs it to be defamed.
I was super excited for my recent stay here.
It's a newer Marriott in Tampa and very upscale. Before now I usually stayed at the Tampa Marriott Water Street directly across the street from the JW... I've always enjoyed my stays there but couldn't resist the up scale, luxury description on their website. Especially the spa, two pools, roof top bar, lobby bar and fine dining eateries on site. Sounds super impressive, right? While the Hotel is grande, modern and very pretty, the staff very professional and beyond polite and courteous, I was very quickly disappointed once inside my room. The deadbolt lock on my door was broken. I reported it and maintenance came immediately but unfortunately they could not fix it. I was offered another room but had already unpacked my things. When showering I found that the glass shower door was letting water out and leaking all over the floor. Mattress, pillows and comforter not comfy and cozy at all. My room service breakfast for one consisting of eggs and pancakes, coffee and tea which tasted average at best cost $90 and arrived NOT hot. My experience at the spa was very relaxing but the robes and towels are not large enough for all body types. The common lounge area was lack luster. Stained couches, food and crumb debris on seating and floor, hot water carafe for tea empty and toilets that wouldn't flush in the women's bathroom. As for my actual massage it was just ok. The steam room, sauna and outdoor spa pool were very nice and enjoyable. Again, entire staff is amazing, so nice, eager to help, professional and definitely strive to make your stay great. I also had a really good spicy Bloody Mary at the lobby bar. What I'm saying overall is that what it costs to stay here, eat here, drink here, spa here and indulge in all they have to offer does not add up. Lots of hype and high prices unjustified. I'm glad I tried it because now I know. If I want a real upscale and luxury experience while in Tampa I will stay at the The Edition, Marriott. I did not dine at any of the JW Marriott on-site restaurants so I cannot comment on them. I made my complaints known to management, and their remedy was free valet parking for the duration of my stay at $45/day. Not what I wanted but I accepted it as it did save me $135.00. I think they should have and could have done more. I am dissatisfied.
We are big fans of the JW Marriott brand and stay whenever
We are big fans of the JW Marriott brand and stay whenever we can. At a JW, you expect top notch service and this hotel delivered. Every staff member with whom we interacted was friendly, helpful, professional, and seemed to enjoy their job. Service was absolutely a 10 out of 10. We had a double queen room with a water view, which we absolutely loved. We stayed at this location for 5 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our vacation. The location is very convenient to the rest of downtown and the Riverwalk. There are numerous options for eating and drinking. The hotel is not far from Sparksman Wharf, the aquarium, the Children's museum, and water taxis. It is also across the street from an arena for sports events. The hotel is only three years old so everything still feels relatively new and clean. We were able to take advantage of the Executive Lounge which offers a great selection of foods for breakfast in the morning, snacks and small plates around dinner time, and desserts in the evening. My one criticism, and it would not stop me from staying here again, is that the bathroom is rather dark, there is no fan, there is only one hook, the countertop is rather small, and the water pressure from the sink faucet was weak. There are two rooftop pools. One was heated, the other one seemed not to be heated. Valet was fast and efficient. The Concierge was helpful. The front desk was efficient and helpful. Really, the entire staff is there to serve and do it with a positive attitude. The people who work here make this hotel a wonderful experience. If we return to Tampa, this is where we are staying.
My review is solely on The Beacon on the 27th floor.
A group of friends and I went their last night and for a Wednesday the place was crowded. Ambience a 5 Visuals a 5 But the service, drinks and food? 3. $17 for a glass of sangria spritz is a bit steep for cocktails when The Edison is right next door. All drinks seem to be $17. The choices of cocktails tried to be edgy but failed to deliver. service: our waitress while very friendly, forgot orders completely or forgot to place orders until we reminded her. rarely came by to check on us. Food: Nice presentation but that's where the excitement ends. not much on the menu for a bar/lounge vibe. Mini angus or kobe burgers or truffle fries would be good additions. we ordered hummus with carrots which were undercooked i.e hard had to cut with a knife. hummus was delish. no bread/naan or pita just hummus and carrots. we also ordered a potato snack with caviar. ok it came room temp. nothing to rave about. The view is non-pareil. Freaking awesome at nightime and I guarantee blown away at sunset. Tip: go for the view and atmosphere. eat before you go and stick to your known cocktails.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time here.
Def a nice quick getaway. I was torn between JW and the new Edition and I'm glad that I made the choice that I did. I spent about an hour at the Edition down the street. While the location is great, it's legit a IG playground with groupies everywhere. Back to the JW. Room was great with a nice view of the bay. Hotel was very well maintained and service was friendly. Had a drink down at the bar and enjoyed my time spent there. Gym is nice too. Hotel is across the street from a free tram which I took a lot during my trip. Overall, a good value and I'd stay again. P.S. 2 pools on the rooftop. Service could be a bit better and more attentive. But water and view were nice.
Everything about this hotel is super.
My only recommendation is that they get firmer pillows, the pillows are basically non existent. I also find it interesting that the JE Marriott (which is higher end than a regular Marriott) is not on the water, but the Marriott is. If I came back, I think I'd stay there instead just for that fact.

I have gone to the JW Marriott spa twice for massages and can't get enough! I have been getting massage treatments for years both in tampa and in other cities, and this one is by far one of the best I've had. I came in with really tight knots in my back and explained to my masseuse that I need very firm pressure, and got just that. Im normally not given enough pressure to fully release my tension, but this was EXACTLY what I was looking for! The customizable massage for 90 minutes let me fully relax and feel each knot melt away. The fact that you get access to a steam room, sauna, rooftop mini pool, and get complimentary snacks/teas/champagne flute are the cherry on top! This is my favorite place to treat myself to a luxe self care day. If you are familiar with massages, you can appreciate the level of professionalism and expert treatments that the Marriott spa gives.

Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.

When it says working on bid, it means there are people looking to fill it.
