Joe's Shanghai New York Grand Front Osaka Reviews from The Last Year
I had the pork XLB and the shrimp fried rice.
The rice was in desperate need of black pepper. Otherwise, it was good. The XLB has thick skin, which sucks. And the taste of the ginger in the dumpling sauce was sour. You can ask for bowls, which make eating the XLB easier. They don't take credit cards, which is crazy and annoying. But that's why they have ATMs in the front. I have had better XLBs in Houston.
The only good thing I can say about our experience at Joes
The only good thing I can say about our experience at Joes was it was a beautiful sunny day. The food tasted like Chinese food one might have a second rate cafeteria trying to imitate what Chinese food might taste like. The service .. the waiter forgot to bring one the entrees. Orange chicken. We figured in the end we were fortunate that he forgot to bring the chicken. Overall pretty dreadful food!

DON'T YOU DARE! I had two slices of the rice cakes and one taste of the crab chunks (unfortunately in this order) before I had to spit it all out. The best part of my order is the vinegar with ginger slices although it is served in a plastic cup. Bathroom is on the walkup second floor and in need of attention.
My first soup dumpling experience and I was blown away.
It's super busy and always a line but definitely worth the wait for their dumplings!
The food was delicious.
The service was alright. The wait for food was kind of long.

The new location so decently fancier than its hole in the wall location. I sort of do miss that old location but the wait time was very long for tables so I get it! In terms of the food, I felt the food lost its character. The soup dumplings didn't have as much umami flavor as I recalled. The Shanghainese fried noodles were a bit stiff but did have the wok hei. As a Shanghainese person, I say with confidence my father makes better noodles than these. In terms of umami, the scallion pancakes were on point and the best item that we had that night. I won't be returning again but good to know the brand is doing well
Best soup dumplings I have ever had! Service and ambiance

The story: Everyone has that one meal that is a "must" on every vacation. For my husband and I, that's a delicious plate of dumplings. The experience: We found this place through online reviews and knew we needed to make our way to Chinatown to check it out. They recently renovated the restaurant to accommodate more guests. It was spacious and fresh inside. If I'm remembering correctly, it is a cash only establishment so come prepared. The service: Our service was quick and efficient. It was a busy spot so we appreciated how attentive they were at getting us sat and food ordered. They even offered up recommendations on what to try! The overall experience: Worth a visit if you're visiting the city and near Chinatown!

Was here for lunch on a Sunday and luckily got seated right away though right after a line formed so I'd say to expect at least a bit of a wait usually. Service was a mixed bag. For example they'll go ahead and take out the chopsticks for you but then throw it on your plate. Also, FYI as others mentioned, there's an 18% service charge added and it's cash only. Food was pretty good. We ordered noodles, beef with string beans, soup dumplings, and shrimp fried rice and everything was flavorful. Food came out relatively quickly too which was nice. The place itself was clean and bustling with lots of groups and an overall family friendly energy (at least for lunch). I'd say 3.5ish/5 but rounding up to 4 when also considering the value.
Listen, I miss the old Joe's Shanghai location.
It feels weird to eat dumplings that taste like they were made with love by a little grandma in a place this modern, but the soup dumplings absolutely still slap. I came here for lunch during the week by myself after picking up some much needed skincare from Senti Senti. This was my first time at the new location, which is spotlessly clean and new. I was seated and served promptly. I ordered tea and soup dumplings, my go-to. The tea was well brewed and the dumplings were hot and juicy. My only regret is not having anyone with me so that I could've tried more food at the new location. Next time!
this place had the most reviews.
i thought it was just ok, fried rice wasn't to die for, sweet n sour ok, dumplings ok, considering how busy it was, service was pretty quick. If there's a line up, go somewhere else, not worth the wait

The dumplings (pork and crab) were amazing! We also had the crispy beef, spicy beef, and Shanghai noodles with chicken. scallion pancakes were also delicious! Long wait, but worth it! Cash only for payment.

Food is always delicious! The whole family loves going there. We are get the soup dumplings, rice and chicken.
Surprisingly busy on a rainy Thursday @7:30pm.
This is my second time here and the soup dumplings are probably the star. Crab or pork are good and sizable. We didn't order as much this time but the rest of the food didn't exactly hit the spot. . Pork Soup Dumplings - must get . Crispy fried beef - very sweet and crunchy; can't totally taste beef . Shanghai fried rice - kind of bland . Beef Crispy Pan Fried Noodle - also not notable, contains canned baby corn, canned water chestnuts, canned star mushrooms, carrot and broccoli. The noodle used is the type you'd have in a bird's nest type dish. Restaurant has nice modern "old Shanghai" decor. Note: Cash only

These are the biggest dumplings I've ever seen! The crab dumplings are super flavorful and had a lot of soup inside. Dumplings come out fairly quickly and service was quick as we were seated right away. It's a cash only establishment.
Everything was so good here.
Star of the show was the soup dumplings. They are huge! We also had pan fried noodles, eggplant, green onion pancakes, Peking duck and some other things I couldn't remember.
Service was Great! Best Fried Pan Seafood noodles!
Service was Great! Best Fried Pan Seafood noodles! Delicious dumplings! I'll be back!
This place has the best dumplings I've ever had! My family
This place has the best dumplings I've ever had! My family has gone here before, but we wanted to find it again because of one thing we loved the first time we went, the soup dumpling. We had gone to chinatown in Italy not long ago to get some soup dumplings, unfortunately they disappointed us. We got to this restaurant and were instantly seated at a table, we ordered some pork soup dumpling, scallion pancakes, spring rolls, and fried dumplings. The food came out in a couple minutes and we tried one of everything, and it did not disappoint. All of the food was delicious. The soup dumpling broth was rich in flavor and the scallion pancakes were very crispy. The only thing that was not entirely perfect was the spring rolls, instead of spring rolls they gave us egg rolls, it was not a big deal though because they were still delicious! The look of the restaurant is beautiful and very clean! I will definitely be telling my friends to come here!
INTEREsTING
Very yummy and very funny made my tummy do a drummy. if you want the chummy, come to York grand, and make sure it isn't all that bad
Came here on a weekend visit to NY, my friend recommended
Came here on a weekend visit to NY, my friend recommended this as a spot for delicious soup dumplings and wow, it did not disappoint! The service was quick and very to the point, you place your order, get your drinks, etc. the engagement doesn't go any further than that. Keep in mind this place is CASH ONLY. They do have an ATM at the restaurant entrance which was convenient. Other than the soup dumplings, we also ordered the scallion pancakes which were 5/5, it was perfectly crisp and the accompanying sauce took the pancakes to the next level, highly highly recommend. The other two items we ordered were the potstickers (3/5- standard potstickers) and the shanghai noodles (3/5 - pretty average noodles but had good QQ texture, which indicates the "springy" texture of the noodles).
It has a luxurious feel!
From New York! This modern Chinese restaurant is well-known for its xiaolongbao dumplings. I had their signature dish, "Joe's Crabmeat Xiaolongbao" for lunch. ^_^ Not only was it delicious, but the interior of the restaurant is very luxurious.

Prepaid Reservation Fee

When you sell a reservation that has a prepaid fee AT takes a commission on that fee. This doesn’t really make sense because it’s an expense the seller incurs not part of the profit that is shared.
For example:
Carbone NYC fee to book table for 2 is $108.88
If you sell it for $200 on AT you get $140 from them.
Your net profit is $31 and AT collects $60 in fees.
It would make more sense not to charge commission on the upfront fee as this creates a disincentive and results in higher costs for buyers.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
