Poor dining experience
Stumbled across this restaurant not realising it was Lady GaGas restaurant. Felt abit like an old pub inside, food was really mediocre and really overpriced! Service was average! I would avoid!
Be the first to ReplyGood but expensive
Small Italian restaurant on the Upper West Side, where we tried to optimize as much as possible by putting the tables in all possible locations (ours was against a low wall and was slightly leaning). The menu is rich (meat, pasta, pizza, risotto, etc.) but expensive ($25 excluding tax for pasta). This is what we took; they were very good. A single glass of wine and a single dessert, the bill is rather hefty: 100 dollars with the tip….
Be the first to ReplyNot worth it, mediocre food.
We came to Joanne’s for the “Drag Me To Joanne’s”, the show was fun, rather short. Three drag queens, 2 performances each. All were talented and fun to watch. First, the service was good. Unfortunately that where it stopped. Our food was flavorless and expensive. I ordered the calamari and rigatoni puttanesca pasta, menu said “spicy” - wasn’t. Drinks were good and the dessert was equally disappointing.

Absolutely fantastic little gem of a place. Was here for my best friends wedding breakfast. Food was delicious, huge portions. Service was outstanding, a very warm and welcoming restaurant. O and the complimentary champagne for the table was a lovely touch. Will definitely return next time I am in New York City.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic dining experience!
Absolutely Fantastic!!!! We had booked here for our wedding breakfast on Friday December 15th 2023. The service we received was exceptional! Amir was very attentive and had decorated our table beautifully with items we had brought in the night previous. The restaurant really filled up and had a great vibe. The food we had was to die for and the portion sizes huge! Prices very reasonable also. The Gaga Pinot Noir is delicious. I chose this restaurant for the cuisine and location and it was perfect in every way. We had popped in the night before and had a drink at the bar and were made to feel very welcome by the bar staff and locals before even revealing why we were there. Can't recommend enough. Will definitely return. Big thanks to Amir & Sydney.
Be the first to ReplyUninspired. Plastic in my meal.
Was visiting NYC for a long weekend and decided to try the restaurant due to its connection with Gaga. That was a mistake. We were sat quickly in the half busy restaurant that seemed to lack ambiance. The staff also didn’t seem overly happy, as if they really didn’t want to be there. The digital tablet left on the table used for the menu and drinks was annoying as it was slow, but we also had to take turns to look at it. Would have been better to have lovely Italian inspired hard copy menus for each person. It took quite some time to order, but the food arrived quickly. Our starters were calamari (which was reasonable), and crab cakes that were very sloppy and tasteless on the inside. It looked like they had been made with crab sticks (fish) from the look of the filling. Our mains were pizza (was ok) and a carbonara that was bland. What was worse was that I had to send it back as I twice had plastic packaging in my mouth from it. The first bit I ignored, but not twice. I was offered a replacement dish and it was explained that it came from the cheese wrapping. There wasn’t much by way of an apology but the dish was taken off the bill as I had requested. The restaurant strikes me as a dream for the owner, but it’s not got the menu, style or food quality to match that, or the experience required to make it so. It feels let go. I don’t mean to be overly harsh, but this was what I experienced and felt about the restaurant. Others may love it of course. Don’t book because of the Gaga connection, you don’t see too much of that there, rightly so.

I was taking my daughters to a play at Lincoln Center. We decided to have dinner at 5:00pm. The restaurant was half full. We sat in the middle room: party of three I liked the menu as did my daughter because she is Glutten free. We ordered the caprese salad which was fair. (Tomatoes did not have much taste)The best item of the night was the Brussels sprouts. I did not like my eggplant parm (it was a thick slice and little sauce) My daughter’s pasta with garlic and sausage and broccoli was tasteless. We will not return.
Be the first to ReplyGreat for lunch
Joanne's was a great restaurant for lunch before a show nearby. It was not very busy at noon and we were able to sit in the back in fresh air, but covered from the drizzle. I ordered from the Prefix Menu and had a small ceasar salad, glass of wine, and eggplant parm with a spaghetti side, and bread. All of the food was excellent, the pasta sauce was tasty, and price was very good. My friend had chicken marsala and said it was the best ever. Amir was our server and he was very friendly and courteous and an asset to the restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyNeighborhood Italian Hideaway with Extra Family Feel
It isn’t the easiest thing to find a table for nine in New York City, so reservations are a must and research is required. My brother-in-law thankfully found this location for our post concert family celebration. Just a couple steps down from the street level, the colorfully decorated establishment makes good use of every nook and cranny. There are several rooms at the rear of the restaurant where large parties have some private space, and we made good use of the patio area in the way back. First off, our waiter/server was exceptional handling a large party with good humor, efficiency, accommodations and speed. All of the staff actually were friendly and helpful. We all thoroughly enjoyed the food, most of us to the “busting”. A majority of us had a pasta dishes—Pasta was perfectly al dente in all cases, the clams in the red or the white sauce were succulent but tender, the penne à la vodka thrilled both of its consumers, and the homemade pappardelle seafood special got two full snaps in a circle. The chicken dishes also received high praise— Milanese and Parmesan— and the lucky winner of the osso bucco was thoroughly impressed (The last time he had the dish, it was in Rome and this rivaled that experience) The drinks came promptly when called and despite being stuffed to the gills, somehow we all had the room for dessert — The homemade Tiramisu was to die for, the cheesecake spectacular, and I believe my mother licked her plate after receiving the lemon cake with cream. Bonus, merchandise and food products available for purchase
Be the first to Reply$20 Pre Fixe Lunch Is Amazing!!
Stopped by for lunch before a matinee. We were pleasantly surprised to discover they offer a 'pre fixe' lunch for $19.99 that includes an entree, Caesar salad, side of pasta and a glass of wine! I had the chicken parm and it was fantastic! The portions were just right for lunch and it cost $19.99!!!! In Manhattan!! The service was excellent. The atmosphere is wonderful. It was our second visit to Joanne, and we will be back! LOVE THIS PLACE!! I highly recommend!
Be the first to ReplyWorst Italian food ever with service equally as bad.
Worst Italian food I've ever eaten. Service equally as bad. Appetizer also had an odd taste. Gnocchi was overcooked mush. Sauce has a bitter taste. Appetizer also had an odd taste. They were already out of lasagna even though we had an early reservation. Servers took forever to come to the table to great us and offer drinks. Then took a long time to take our order. The only reason this place stays in business is because it's lady gaga's father. She should be ashamed to put her name on this restaurant. If she is going to advertise her association to the restaurant, then she should make sure the food is at least decent.
Be the first to ReplyAvoid if you like your food to taste good
Whilst the waiting staff were friendly and attentive, the food was mediocre at best. There were very few vegetarian options and “Joanne’s Chicken Parmesan” was bland and tasteless. I felt like channelling Monica from Friends and teaching the chef how to make a decent tomato sauce. How this could be a signature dish I have no idea. My strong recommendation would be to save your money and go elsewhere.
Be the first to ReplyWorst I have ever experienced
The worst food in my experience from Paris to Rome to NYC. When a child receives a pizza that looks like a burnt Mid-Eastern bread and has the texture of a wet Bounty and then bursts into tears because it is clearly not a pizza, that tells you all. The adult dishes were equally pathetic. Not even the most ill funded food kitchen would serve such detritus. I am amazed at the clueless folk who filled the tables.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent service but food just Ok.
We went to Joanne's on Saturday night and despite the packed house, we received excellent service from "Bobby" who was not only waitressing but bartending as well. The food overall was not great. The fried calamari appetizer was good but my Chicken Marsala was bland and the other 3 people in our party thought their meals were good but nothing special. The drinks and the food were expensive.

Waaaay too noisy. The singer was terrific but so loud, making conversation impossible. The menu used to be quite varies, now as boring as their stale bread. Our first course never arrived. By the time our second courses came, the salmon was totally dried out and the the clam sauce pasta was almost inedibly soupy. Our waited was lovely, very accommodating. But...I've been coming here for more than 10 years, but will not return. Shame on them!
Be the first to ReplyNice restaurat
Outside nor inside decor is extremely fancy but the food is worth it. Priced okay, they had a live singer performing which is nice. Had pasta and fish which was fresh. Would go back again.
Be the first to ReplyNice but nothing special
Nice food good service, friendly staff interesting decor and obviously the links with Lady Gaga makes it an interesting place. Food was nice but not special and a bit expensive $100 for two plates of pasta and drinks. Close to Central Park
Be the first to ReplyPrix Fixe menu
The staff was friendly, although I'm not sure why we were seated next to the kitchen when there were many other tables for two elsewhere in the restaurant. But our location didn't detract from our meal. We ordered from the prix fixe menu - eggplant and chicken parm, choice of salad, and glass of wine. The atmosphere is cozy and the location is convenient to Lincoln Center. A good value.
Be the first to ReplyFriendly staff & decent food
Came here as our daughter is a Lady Gaga fan (I got the impression that was the case for others around us too). The staff were friendly and attentive, which counts for a lot. The tablet menu was frustrating. The food was good, not amazing, but no complaints. The night we went also had live music on the patio, but unless you were dining in that area, you just heard a mixture of that and the system audio music. Would be better to just hear one or the other. Overall happy we went.
Be the first to ReplyVery tasty Italian foowith nice sized portions
We have a subscription and we wanted to try a new place near Lincoln Center. We were not disappointed with Joanna Trattoria. The portions were very generous and the food was delicious. We enjoyed the tri color salad, the chicken with artichokes and the chicken scarperello. The food was very well seasoned, and the service was attentive.

Be the first to ReplyGood low key restaurant
Service was great. Kale salad perfect. Really nice, intimate feel. Will most definitely be back. And ther is outdoor seating.

This was our first visit to Joanne and hopefully will be our last. The best thing we ate was the fried calamari and the mixed Italian salad. I ordered linguine aglio olio which had no taste whatsoever, not even the garlic. Others had broccoli rabe and sausage with penne which they claimed was good. The sausage had no taste and I don't think it was Italian sausage. One had steak with french fries which was ordered medium rare but came out well done. Everything in this restaurant is ala carte. It is a pricey venue and I don't believe it is worth the money.
Be the first to ReplyThe Meatballs were INSANE!! :)
Met a friend for a fabulous Sunday brunch at Joanne Trattoria and it certainly did not disappoint! Great, friendly service in an intimate atmosphere complete with a live guitarist. We enjoyed wine and the chopped salad as well as the meatballs which were insanely good. Highly recommend this cozy spot for your next outing!
Be the first to ReplyGreat Sunday brunch
During a group trip to New York one of our group decided to book this. Not reading about it before didn’t know what to expect. Made to feel very welcome and can only comment on Cesar salad which was delicious though experience was made all the better by the bottomless mimosa deal. I have very warm memories of New York and this place will hold a special place in my heart.
