😍 5/5 - Overall, great experience but maybe consider self park

Overall, great experience but maybe consider self park instead of valet. I went to Jeff Ruby's for reataraunt week, which was an amazing deal of $55 for a 3 course meal, plus bread! When I first entered the restaurant I had not done much research outside of the restaurant week menu so I was surprised when the inside was very vibey and colorful, unlike a traditional steak house which is often dimly light, a little aged, and very dull colors. This spot has colorful lights and murals, but still looks high end and comfortable. We were seated in the bar area, which featured a piano player - who was wonderful and seemed to have a very fun personality! It was loud, but never too loud I felt like I couldn't hear the person at my table or that I had to yell to talk. The meal started with warm sourdough bread, which had 2 types of butter. One tasted like a standard high end salted butter and the other was a truffle butter which was perfectly earthy and very soft! I really enjoyed both, but the truffle was my favorite. Next this special offered came with a salad, which was well dressed but overall pretty standard - I did like the big pieces of bacon! The second course was a petite fillet with asparagus, potatoes, a sauce, and shrimp. The filet was cooked perfectly to my requested medium, and the waitress even came by to do a temperature check. The shrimp were well seasoned and had a nice texture. The potatoes were great, and so was the asparagus! The last course was the butter pie, which we were told was made in house (like all their desserts). It was fantastic! Great flavor and you could tell it was more freshly prepared instead of frozen, which is great! The pecan topping was a great added texture as well. To drink I did the "It's Britney, Spritz" which 10/10 for the name but also was a fantastic drink! It was vodka based, with bubbles, and featured a house made lavender syrup, it pulled more sweet than floral - which is appreciated by me because too floral taste like a candle or soap to me! The service was great! Many people stopped by to check on us during the meal, clean the table, clear the plates, and refill waters. Everyone was friendly, and seemed to enjoy being there. The only downside to my night was the valet. Where I love and appreciate that complimentary valet, I didn't have the best experience. Handing my car over was simple, and the valet was easy to find. My friend who arrived after me said she saw they parted my car nearby on 4th (valet drop off is on Union). So when I went out I didn't expect it to take long to get my car. However, timing was a little off and we left at the same time as a crowd of people. Luckily most had arrived together. When everyone cleared out I handed over my ticket and the one valet said "I'll go get her car" and the other said "it's right there" I assumed they were talking to each other but then he handed me the keys and said "I'll walk you to your car" which is not standard practice for valet and I didn't really want to walk in heels but I just followed him. The space was really tight so I asked if he could pull it out, and he did - which was nice. However, when he went to get out of the car he put it in reverse instead of park and it the car quickly started rolling backwards. He was able to get fully back in the car and hit the break just before it hit another parked vehicle. I was pretty speechless and a little in shock. I handed over my tip, and finally remembered to breath. He barely apologized for almost crashing my vehicle. An heartfelt apology seemed like a correct response for this type of situation, and I'm disappointed it wasn't offered but I'm also disappointed that valet was offered, but I was asked to walk to my vehicle instead of it being returned to me, which I believe would have put it in a better position to not have the chance to roll into other vehicles. To be noted I have a very standard gearshift. It's from park to drive in a straight line, so I'm not entirely sure how it was put into reverse and I understand accidents happen but more of an apology rather than a "woah I don't know why that happened" would have been appreciated. So, maybe if you chose to visit opt for one of the self park options nearby (I know it sucks most free downtown parking has been eliminated).
