Jargon Asheville Reviews
Hidden Gem
Jargon is one of the top restaurants (if not the best) in Asheville. You are missing out if you do not visit this gem of a place. Service is excellent all around. Very friendly staff. Chilled laidback vibe. Definitely will return to this place when In Asheville next.
Great food.
Great service! Awesome selection of Whiskey. The owner was a super nice gentleman with a fantastic mustache. 10/10 Yal!
Outstanding!
We live nearby and recently had an amazing dinner at Jargon. My husband and I sat at the bar and were treated to our friendly, helpful and welcoming bartender and server. Food was all tasty and delicious and we left stuffed and happy. Will definitely be back!
Definitely a top dining experience.
Top restaurant for a reason. Definitely would try again when we visit again. Food was exquisite. We had 2 medium plates (gazpacho and mushrooms), and 2 large plates (trout and duck) along with desert. Wine options great. Nice to get choice of 3 oz,6 oz or bottles. Price reasonable. Staff wonderful.
My fiance and I celebrated our engagement at Jargon.
Our entire experience was incredible. The food was amazingly flavorful. The service from the entire wait staff was impeccable. It's truly rare to observe a staff that is so committed to serving its patrons. We shared two appetizers, an entree, and a dessert. I would highly recommend Jargon to travelers and locals.

We attended a wine dinner here recently and it was delicious! If they ever host another one do yourself a favor and grab seats, it was a sold out seating and it took place in their new space next door to the restaurant. The chef created off menu items to pair with the wines, our favorites were the crispy pork belly, the burrata and my mom loved the chocolate dessert.
Top Notch In Asheville
We proudly call Asheville home and Jargon is always top of our list.. The food is fresh, creative and the staff is outstanding. We travel on a very regular basis and I would put Jargon up against top notch international locations… it’s classy yet not pretentious Frank H.
So happy I found this gem of a restaurant!
What a beautiful gem of a restaurant! I sat at the chef's table and had an amazing experience watching my meal being prepared. My first course was the cucumber gazpacho which was perfect in its presentation and taste. My second course was a grilled fish. The chef was immensely creative in how he paired my fish with certain vegetables and herbs. It was an outstanding entre. The dessert, the golden milk coconut parfait, was both gluten-free and vegan and absolutely delicious. Next time I'll make plans to sit outside in their beautifully inspiring outdoor space!
Excellent service
Very enjoyable dinner at Jargon. Unique and relaxing interior design. The food was delicious and nicely presented. Most of all the service from everyone was perfect.
Fine Dining in West Asheville
We had a delicious meal at Jargon. The food was creative and delicious. The wait staff was attentive and knowledgable regarding the menu and answered all of our food questions.
Top-notch dining experience
One of our favorite restaurants in the Asheville area because of its innovative cocktails and cuisine. The restaurant has a comfortable atmosphere and the service is always friendly and accommodating. Love taking our out of town guests to this great restaurant in West Asheville!
Try it and you'll have a new Asheville "go-to" spot
Jargon is consistently a hit. The menu changes often, but there are also "classics" that are dependable. I'm not sure that they are capable of a bad meal. Most recently, I ventured out for a vegetarian option that was really solid. The smoked old fashioned is a strong choice, and the beets starter is a consistent choice. Service is relaxed and not fussy, but super attentive. It is difficult to thread the needle sometimes between being farm-to-table, elevated, casual, but attentive, and somehow they've been able to pull it off for years. We go each year during either camp drop off or pick up and we will continue to pay homage to one of our favorite Asheville spots.
Jargon AVL
An exceptional culinary experience with the kindest of staff! Sarah was our server and did a great job guiding us through the menu and making sure we were taken care of. Our dinner was superb and dessert was divine. Ambiance was gorgeous and I can't reiterate enough how courteous each staff member was (even the ones who weren't serving us)! We had dinner at a couple other upscale restaurants in AVL while visiting but preferred our meal here the most. Definitely check out Jargon if you want impeccable hospitality and food that goes above and beyond.
Definitely unimpressed.
I've been to my fair share of fine dining restaurants, and expect small plates and odd ingredients that I don't normally see but my trout dish ($34) was completely plain with no flavor and contained a whopping three forkful of rice. The bread to start our meal tasted like homemade kings Hawaiian rolls for two dollars apiece, not worth it. And finally, I know that Spruce Tip ice cream is supposed to be all the rage, but it was not good and almost inedible. Will not bother going back.

Undercooked crunchy sushi rice is a no go, as well as, overcooked mushrooms. Totally unacceptable for a $42 dish.

This is one of our new favorite restaurants! Food was delicious, perfectly cooked, flavorful, filling and love the farm to table unique menu! Drinks were carefully crafted and delish! Service was impeccable from our waitress Reign and every employee/manager we encountered. We were seated close to the kitchen and impressed by the organization and communication between the cooks. The vibe of the restaurant was unique, romantic and interesting. Def a must to ask about the history of the restaurant and the vision!

Delicious food, creative menu, great ambiance (both inside and outside). Also, friendly and attentive service. Highly recommend.

Culinary excellence with a comfortable atmosphere! I always get imposter syndrome in fancy restaurants, but here I felt comfortable and relaxed. The staff were superb at explaining the menu and not making you feel less than. Everything about this restaurant was steps above anything/anywhere I've been before. I didn't get a picture of my husbands duck dish, but it was divine! And I am picky eater so I didn't expect to like it!
Excellent ambiance and service.
The food is excellent, but the portions were teeny tiny, similar to other fancy restaurants. I enjoyed my visit, but am not likely to return.
Innovative cuisine, haute atmosphere and impeccable service.
Be prepared to pay for it.
Not your run of the mill Saturday night fare!
Very interesting food and diverse menu offerings - fresh ingredients and layered flavors. Great chill, boho vibe and super nice people. Live in Greenville but our go to place whenever we visit Asheville. Love to bring friends & family. They're always impressed with the delicious dining experience...
Superb Monday munch with good vibe
Excellent! Great food, excellent choices and superb wine guidance. Yummy veggie options and plenty for meat lovers too. Really good drinks, including throw back grasshopper. Call out to great service, and special ambiance on patio. The turntable music was excellent too. Small, so reservations suggested. Will be back.
Jargon-One of the BEST in Asheville! I highly recommend it!
Jargon is a special restaurant in a city full of good restaurants. The Menu changes weekly, highlighting fresh, local foods and spirits! The wine selection is outstanding. My wife and I love Jargon and have made it our go-to date night restaurant! We live to sit at the counter watching the chef’s work their magic! It like watching “The Bear” in real time!! The service is impeccable and the vibe is “Asheville” with an upscale flair. The owner, Sean, is an interesting guy! If you get the chance, ask him about his previous career! Highly recommended!
Amazing food, amazing experience
What an amazing experience. Food was top notch and very creative, staff were so knowledgeable and added a lot to our dinner. Would highly recommend the bar seats that have a view of the kitchen if you have interest in that at all. Watching the process and the care they put into each dish gave us a deeper respect for the work the kitchen does, while being a nice added bit of entertainment to our dinner. Kudos to the whole crew
A mixed bag.
We liked a couple of the dishes. Others needed help. The Brussels and Beet dishes were good. The Cavatelli was odd. My partner took one bite and said nope! I kept eating it. It was oddly sour in flavor. Towards the end of eating the dish I didn't care for it either. Also ordered the Pork loin Katsun excited to try all the sauces (bulldog and kewpie mayo). How they plated the dish was dime sized dollops around the dish. 2 of each sauce around the outside of the dish was no where near enough, seemed super cheep. Would have been ok if they drizzled the sauces on top of let's say half the Katsu and you used the dollops around the edge for a little more. For a $25 dish you have to nail it, which it did not. Lastly we ended the night with chocolate Crunch Cake for dessert. It was extremely odd. There's cake on the bottom, mouse on top and in the middle there's a layer of a strangely textured oat cake which lends to a stale, tooth sum texture( not crunchy). We eat around it. The best part was the dish was that it was sprinkled with a crunchy crumble around the ice cream. My suggestion is get rid of the oat layer and have it be mouse and chocolate cake, ice cream and dump a lot of what ever that crumble was and it would be a winner. And maybe change the name of the dish. Overall wanted to like the place but it was extremely expensive for what we got.
Loved the ambience.
My fave ambience in Asheville. Jazz vinyl playing. Hipster decor. Very friendly staff. Meal was pricey for what we ordered. Mushrooms were great fun and onion soup was heavy but yum. Loved the homemade rose grapefruit soda. Not sweet. Dumplings were ok. Salad was a nice big portion.
Top-Tier
The overall experience was phenomenal the food was exquisite and the service was far above expectation. We will be making this a regular event.
Fantastic dinner
This restaurant is fantastic, the flavors are all so rich and decadent. The head chef here has a very great grasp of combining flavors in a beautiful way. If you are in Asheville I would highly recommend Jargon
10/10!!!
We went here for my moms 70th birthday and holy smokes did it exceed all of my expectations. The service was incredible, attentive and sincere. Our server did an amazing job of staying on top of all our needs while also giving us space to enjoy and never making us feel rushed. We took almost all of his recommendations for food, from apps to mains and dessert and each one was spot on and delicious. I so appreciated that management came to our table to check in and how special they all made my mom feel. The food was out of control good with so many gluten free options for me that everyone enjoyed sharing. The vibe and atmosphere were perfect for a nice dinner, celebration or some romance. I can't believe I waited this long to go here even though it's in my neighborhood. I couldn't have asked for a better way to celebrate my mom. I'm a customer for life now and I can't wait to go back.
Great fish dishes, but some issues and slow service
Jargon is one of Asheville’s top restaurants and one can see why. The black bass and trout mains were wonderful, and our friends loved the mushroom starter. However, there are some problems. The restaurant is very dark, so older people will need their iPhone flashlights to see the menu. The shrimp and grits fritters are just tasteless mush in a hard sesame shell. Service is glacial. It took a full hour and a half to get our mains. This was not so bad as it is a pleasant environment, and the cocktails are good. It seems the front of house staff are numerous, but disorganized. On balance a very good restaurant, which needs a bit better discipline up front.
Will go again and again.
Food was off the hook. Area of town not so much. The chef was creative and the waitstaff hovered. Food riveled any big city fare. NYC, Philly, or Chicago. We were staying at the Biltmore and Jargon had them beat.
A quiet tucked away foodie paradise.
We've always loved every meal we've had but we've especially enjoyed their chef's special meals.

A friend and I ventured here while visiting Asheville on a girls trip. It looked fancy and like a special treat. We were seated at the chef's table so we got to see the action. However, I was surprised at the lack of service. Our waitress was kind of checked out and honestly the price for what we received was less than lack luster. The bread service was four small pieces of really dense bread with some butter for $8. The "schnitzel" was far from authentic. It was thick, highly breaded and the "potato salad" on top was cubed potatoes with tiny bits of relish sprinkled around and a few pieces of cut up Brussels. For $34. I don't understand the price for what I received. The only redeeming quality here was the ice breaker cocktail which was their version of an old fashioned captured inside of an ice cube that they break in front of you. If I ever return to Asheville, I won't be back unfortunately.
Best restaurant in Asheville
Jargon is the perfect place to go if you like an intimate atmosphere, high quality food and drinks, and professional waitstaff. This gem of a restaurant is our favorite place to go for date nights and with friends (we are locals)!

The farm to table food was excellent and the service was wonderful. I definitely recommend Jargon and hope to enjoy another meal here before our vacation ends in a few days.
Very delicious spot! Upscale and carefully curated food.
Cocktails were delicious, Eddie- our server was amazing. Such a gentle spirit and very friendly. His suggestions were all very delicious. Food was all local and everything was made in house. The owner walked around and introduced himself and asked if everything was good. You can tell this place is a very well oiled machine with everyone working as a family. Food was made with love.

My wife and I had a fantastic experience here! We went here for our first anniversary and the owner was kind enough to give us some Champaign to celebrate. The place has a great ambiance with nice lighting and a cool little bar. The waitress was very kind a helpful and all of the drinks that we had were unique and delicious. We tried many different dishes, all of which had fresh, local, and unique flavors and ingredients. Start to finish probably one of the best dining experiences that we've ever had!! Definitely check it out!!
Spectacular meal.
Every bite was delicious, start to finish. Our server, Reign was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, paced the dinner perfectly, and had great recommendations. Cool ambiance. Super nice owner. Could not recommend more.
ask for ariana!
I had an incredible experience sitting at the bar for dinner. Ariana is fun, witty, and makes incredible drinks. She made our entire evening and we will absolutely be back because of her!
Great spot for awesome cocktails and superior food.
One night in Asheville and I am glad that we picked this spot for dinner. Service was great. We sat at the bar and Arianna was our server. The cocktails and recommendations were spot on. I would go there again if I come back to Asheville. Everything we ate was awesome.
Jargon is a true delight
Jargon is a true delight again and again and again! The ambience the service and of course the food are always spot on. We can't wait until our next visit!
Fabulous Food served in Retro-vibe setting
“Cool” dining atmosphere - very retro vibe. Fabulous food with nice variety for us “plant-based” eaters. Unique speciality cocktails. Our server, Eddie, was terrific - very warm, kind and had several suggestions regarding menu items. Would definitely eat here again.
Wonderful experience
Jargon was absolutely FANTASTIC! The food was so delicious, the drinks were tasty, and we had the most incredible server, Katelyn. The owner, Sean, was there and made it a point to speak to every table. This is a very special place. Highly recommend!
Fantastic Experience!
Our experience was superb! I have dined at Jargon many times and it has always been consistently a great experience. On this visit I took a client who had never been. We were greeted at the door by the charming hostees who showed us to our seats. We sat at the bar and the two female bartenders were very charming, engaging and made great cocktails. We shared several small dishes that were delicious. The chef was spot on for our meal. Before we left, the owner took time to greet us, which made my client as well as myself feel special. When you find a place with great servers, bartenders and incredible food, it's hard to go anywhere else when dining out. Love this restaurant!
A disappointment
The staff was attentive but the food was lacking. Quite a disappointment after reading all the good reviews. The brussel sprouts were a little creepy with the fluttering bonito flakes. The serving size enough for 3 people. The brisket and the beets were over salted. The trout was pretty good, if doused in butter. For dessert we had the ganache, which true to its name was essentially a ganache, thick and heavier than a mousse. The single serving was too much even for two people. I’m certain that others would enjoy the meal, but we found the flavors to be rather dull. Perhaps too subtle for our tastes.
Not as good as the reviews said
I ordered the ribeye and after quite a while it came out room temperature and was soon cold halfway through the meal. The marrow butter was a frozen patty that never did melt on the cold steak. Service was slow in general. Demanding bums and druggies outside the restaurant really didn't add to the experience. I likely won't return.
excellent experience all around!
What an absolute treat it was to dine here. The food is excellent and the presentation is thoughtful and creative ( you have to try the brussels sprouts with bonito flakes). The ambiance is so cozy and chic, and the staff friendly and helpful. Of all the places we went, this gets our vote for best restaurant in Asheville.

I had higher than normal expectations - my friend talked
I had higher than normal expectations - my friend talked this place up and well, the menu prices of this place makes it a more "special occasion" kind of place, for me at least. I have no problems paying more than I normally do for a meal if you get what you pay for and this place does not disappoint one bit. From the outside it seems that this place would be on the smaller side as far as the dining room goes but that was not the case here. There was plenty of room in the back and they have things set up nicely with tables and use their space in such a way where all the seats are nice and you don't feel cramped when dining here.As far as the food goes, is it pricey? Sure, but you get what you pay for. I was very happy with just about everything I was able to try. I ordered the Cauliflower Soup and Monkfish Entree. Holy moly both were amazing. The soup was seasoned nice, not too hot, not too cold, and was a nice sized portion. The Monkfish entree was probably the best Monkfish meal I have ever had. If there was one small gripe - and I mean I am reaching here - is the portion was a little on the smaller side but this is not a showstopper for me by a long shot. Plus, considering all the other stuff my friends and I shared, I had plenty to eat overall. We ordered dessert to share, the Molé Spiced Financier Cake, Chai Spiced Coconut Pudding, and the Purple Sweet Potato Cheesecake. The Molé cake was my favorite. The coffee here is really nice too, I enjoyed it with dessert. Our server was helpful in telling us the blend they use and where we could get them from (The Beanwerks Coffee Shop down the street).Speaking of service, we all had a very good experience and the wait staff was very friendly and attentive. Our server was really great and she made our dining experience all the more better. Whenever I come back to Asheville (hopefully soon), I will def try to come back again.P.S. - Try the Black Pepper Pappardelle, unless you are not okay with rabbit. This was REALLY good...

There were so many lovely details about our dinner at Jargon. The service was friendly without being too much. The dishes were all so uniquely prepared with seeds and light sauces and perfect seasonings. HH and I shared 4 small dishes and the trout main course.
