Jargon Asheville Reviews from The Last Year
Culinary excellence with a comfortable atmosphere! I always
Culinary excellence with a comfortable atmosphere! I always get imposter syndrome in fancy restaurants, but here I felt comfortable and relaxed. The staff were superb at explaining the menu and not making you feel less than. Everything about this restaurant was steps above anything/anywhere I've been before. I didn't get a picture of my husbands duck dish, but it was divine! And I am picky eater so I didn't expect to like it!
Excellent ambiance and service.
The food is excellent, but the portions were teeny tiny, similar to other fancy restaurants. I enjoyed my visit, but am not likely to return.
Innovative cuisine, haute atmosphere and impeccable service.
Be prepared to pay for it.
Not your run of the mill Saturday night fare!
Very interesting food and diverse menu offerings - fresh ingredients and layered flavors. Great chill, boho vibe and super nice people. Live in Greenville but our go to place whenever we visit Asheville. Love to bring friends & family. They're always impressed with the delicious dining experience...
Jargon-One of the BEST in Asheville! I highly recommend it!
Jargon is a special restaurant in a city full of good restaurants. The Menu changes weekly, highlighting fresh, local foods and spirits! The wine selection is outstanding. My wife and I love Jargon and have made it our go-to date night restaurant! We live to sit at the counter watching the chef’s work their magic! It like watching “The Bear” in real time!! The service is impeccable and the vibe is “Asheville” with an upscale flair. The owner, Sean, is an interesting guy! If you get the chance, ask him about his previous career! Highly recommended!
Superb Monday munch with good vibe
Excellent! Great food, excellent choices and superb wine guidance. Yummy veggie options and plenty for meat lovers too. Really good drinks, including throw back grasshopper. Call out to great service, and special ambiance on patio. The turntable music was excellent too. Small, so reservations suggested. Will be back.
Amazing food, amazing experience
What an amazing experience. Food was top notch and very creative, staff were so knowledgeable and added a lot to our dinner. Would highly recommend the bar seats that have a view of the kitchen if you have interest in that at all. Watching the process and the care they put into each dish gave us a deeper respect for the work the kitchen does, while being a nice added bit of entertainment to our dinner. Kudos to the whole crew
A mixed bag.
We liked a couple of the dishes. Others needed help. The Brussels and Beet dishes were good. The Cavatelli was odd. My partner took one bite and said nope! I kept eating it. It was oddly sour in flavor. Towards the end of eating the dish I didn't care for it either. Also ordered the Pork loin Katsun excited to try all the sauces (bulldog and kewpie mayo). How they plated the dish was dime sized dollops around the dish. 2 of each sauce around the outside of the dish was no where near enough, seemed super cheep. Would have been ok if they drizzled the sauces on top of let's say half the Katsu and you used the dollops around the edge for a little more. For a $25 dish you have to nail it, which it did not. Lastly we ended the night with chocolate Crunch Cake for dessert. It was extremely odd. There's cake on the bottom, mouse on top and in the middle there's a layer of a strangely textured oat cake which lends to a stale, tooth sum texture( not crunchy). We eat around it. The best part was the dish was that it was sprinkled with a crunchy crumble around the ice cream. My suggestion is get rid of the oat layer and have it be mouse and chocolate cake, ice cream and dump a lot of what ever that crumble was and it would be a winner. And maybe change the name of the dish. Overall wanted to like the place but it was extremely expensive for what we got.
Loved the ambience.
My fave ambience in Asheville. Jazz vinyl playing. Hipster decor. Very friendly staff. Meal was pricey for what we ordered. Mushrooms were great fun and onion soup was heavy but yum. Loved the homemade rose grapefruit soda. Not sweet. Dumplings were ok. Salad was a nice big portion.
Fantastic dinner
This restaurant is fantastic, the flavors are all so rich and decadent. The head chef here has a very great grasp of combining flavors in a beautiful way. If you are in Asheville I would highly recommend Jargon
Top-Tier
The overall experience was phenomenal the food was exquisite and the service was far above expectation. We will be making this a regular event.
10/10!!!
We went here for my moms 70th birthday and holy smokes did it exceed all of my expectations. The service was incredible, attentive and sincere. Our server did an amazing job of staying on top of all our needs while also giving us space to enjoy and never making us feel rushed. We took almost all of his recommendations for food, from apps to mains and dessert and each one was spot on and delicious. I so appreciated that management came to our table to check in and how special they all made my mom feel. The food was out of control good with so many gluten free options for me that everyone enjoyed sharing. The vibe and atmosphere were perfect for a nice dinner, celebration or some romance. I can't believe I waited this long to go here even though it's in my neighborhood. I couldn't have asked for a better way to celebrate my mom. I'm a customer for life now and I can't wait to go back.
Great fish dishes, but some issues and slow service
Jargon is one of Asheville’s top restaurants and one can see why. The black bass and trout mains were wonderful, and our friends loved the mushroom starter. However, there are some problems. The restaurant is very dark, so older people will need their iPhone flashlights to see the menu. The shrimp and grits fritters are just tasteless mush in a hard sesame shell. Service is glacial. It took a full hour and a half to get our mains. This was not so bad as it is a pleasant environment, and the cocktails are good. It seems the front of house staff are numerous, but disorganized. On balance a very good restaurant, which needs a bit better discipline up front.
Will go again and again.
Food was off the hook. Area of town not so much. The chef was creative and the waitstaff hovered. Food riveled any big city fare. NYC, Philly, or Chicago. We were staying at the Biltmore and Jargon had them beat.
A quiet tucked away foodie paradise.
We've always loved every meal we've had but we've especially enjoyed their chef's special meals.

A friend and I ventured here while visiting Asheville on a girls trip. It looked fancy and like a special treat. We were seated at the chef's table so we got to see the action. However, I was surprised at the lack of service. Our waitress was kind of checked out and honestly the price for what we received was less than lack luster. The bread service was four small pieces of really dense bread with some butter for $8. The "schnitzel" was far from authentic. It was thick, highly breaded and the "potato salad" on top was cubed potatoes with tiny bits of relish sprinkled around and a few pieces of cut up Brussels. For $34. I don't understand the price for what I received. The only redeeming quality here was the ice breaker cocktail which was their version of an old fashioned captured inside of an ice cube that they break in front of you. If I ever return to Asheville, I won't be back unfortunately.
Best restaurant in Asheville
Jargon is the perfect place to go if you like an intimate atmosphere, high quality food and drinks, and professional waitstaff. This gem of a restaurant is our favorite place to go for date nights and with friends (we are locals)!

The farm to table food was excellent and the service was wonderful. I definitely recommend Jargon and hope to enjoy another meal here before our vacation ends in a few days.
Very delicious spot! Upscale and carefully curated food.
Cocktails were delicious, Eddie- our server was amazing. Such a gentle spirit and very friendly. His suggestions were all very delicious. Food was all local and everything was made in house. The owner walked around and introduced himself and asked if everything was good. You can tell this place is a very well oiled machine with everyone working as a family. Food was made with love.

My wife and I had a fantastic experience here! We went here for our first anniversary and the owner was kind enough to give us some Champaign to celebrate. The place has a great ambiance with nice lighting and a cool little bar. The waitress was very kind a helpful and all of the drinks that we had were unique and delicious. We tried many different dishes, all of which had fresh, local, and unique flavors and ingredients. Start to finish probably one of the best dining experiences that we've ever had!! Definitely check it out!!
Spectacular meal.
Every bite was delicious, start to finish. Our server, Reign was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, paced the dinner perfectly, and had great recommendations. Cool ambiance. Super nice owner. Could not recommend more.

Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.

Can come from a lot of places, people who don't want to get charged their cancellation fee or people who just have them and cant go.

almost all restaurants aren't affiliated with AT and I'm guessing it's mostly people wanting to not pay cancellation fees.
