Nice place for a quiet date night
We had a nice experience here. The place filled up fast for dinner. The overall atmosphere was nice, but a little stuffy. My partner has wanted to try this place for several years and we were not disappointed. My food wasnโt memorable but we would still return on a special occasion of in the area.

I have never even heard of this restaurant, but now that I know about it...! Steak was succulent, sides were delicious. The jumbo tater tots were awesome. Tomahawk steak and filet mignon...Can't go wrong.

This isnโt our first time coming here. I celebrated my birthday here and the service, food, drinks and appreciation was at a high time high last year. Unfortunately this time around is was below average. Shout out to the light skin girl working the bar who left her side to greet me and ask to start me off with water while the male bartender just watched me. After ordering my drink from sis and waiting for my bestfriend to arrive to celebrate her birthday we sat down. Our waiter Rosa was amazing. The food didnโt have any flavor. It seemed as the basic salt and pepper or sauce didnโt exist. The drinks were on par and was giving us all the smoke. As per usual we ordered a lot and barely ate it. We all complained about the food not having any flavor and the way the waiters were handing our food and stretching across our faces verse going around. We ordered dessert to go and as we were waiting for Rosa to take the check, a manager Iโm guessing white male bald head grab the check from my hand and walked away. He never once asked if you want to take that from you? Or asked is everything okay? My bestfriend and I were appalled and expressed our concerns with Rosa. She apologized and she said she was going to talk to him. She asked for us to come back and we said it will be our last time because for what weโre paying for we ainโt received. To add insult on to this review I ordered the stuffed lobster with crabmeat. Why did they packed my food away and included their fork inside my food. How sway? How is that possible? Aaah Hunt & Fish youโre missing a fork!!!! Wasnโt impressed and we wonโt be going back. Good for a good cocktail if you go try the all the smoke.

I was invited last minute to a Broadway show, and my Uncle Margaret said dinner was at Hunt & Fish Club. I had never heard of it before, but I trust my Unc's food taste with my life so needless to say I was amped. Right when I walked in the door, I was immediately inspired. You walk into a fully stocked bar with everyone is dressed to the 9s and just an overall very chic interior. The line between chic and tacky is getting smaller and smaller by the day, but they NAILED it here. It felt like a Frank Sinatra song came to life, just exactly what I think of when I think of a classic NY Steak House. The hostess lead me past the bar to my seat, and there is a beautiful open space with all the tables. The big chandelier thing (or hanging lights idk the technical term) was a phenomenal use of the space. It really tied the entire room together. Great choice of interior design here shoutout to whoever put that together. I was a bit late, so put in my order of a dry martini up with a lemon twist right when I sat down. I am going for the skinny rockstar look these days, so this dinner was my first meal of the day and I was STARVING. The bread they served for the table was some of the best I have had in the city. For food, we ordered and octopus salad, ceasar salad, Oysters & clams, bacon, Ribeye, a Filet, and some french fries. Honestly, I loved everything with the Octopus salad being the highlight. The best octopus I have eaten. I am typically much more of a Filet guy, but the Ribeye really blew it out of the water. That medium rare bone-in ribeye was elite. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov__

We went for dinner on a Friday night with business colleagues. We had to press them to seat us; they wanted to have us wait until all our guests were present even though there were plenty of open tables. Once seated, service was exceedingly slowโunderstaffed? The first course was a Cesar salad which no one ate more than half of. Dressing was not good- tasted like ground anchovies. The main course when it finally came was served family style. The chicken and mashed potatoes were quite good, but the other dishes were not remarkable. Finally these were cleared away, and a half an hour went by with no desert or coffee being brought out. We all just left at that point having early morning meetings next day. Perhaps they had staffing issues, but the dinner was a big dissappointment.

This is the second time we have dined at this restaurant. Both times the food was excellent and the servers attentive. We told our server what time we needed to leave for the theater, and he ensured that we left at the correct time. The decor and ambiance were lovely, and the steaks were cooked perfectly. Would definitely recommend.

I had a great experience here. The staff were very responsive to questions about the menu, and worked around my food allergies. The opening salad was lovely, and my salmon with vegetables and couscous was exceptional - the best I have had in years. Coffee service after the meal was also very good. I would recommend the restaurant if you're going to a performance in the area.

Very good NY strip steak although over seasoned as were the fries which made for a very salty entree. Staff were great and attentive. Brussel sprouts with bacon were doused in balsamic vinegar and over cooked. My wifeโs starter was poor and unfortunately we sent it back. The music is irritating, sub bass hip hop style drones. Would benefit from a little light jazz maybe. Seems picky but it all adds to the ambiance. Not great.

Waited well over half an hour for our table to be ready and this only happened after much complaining and speaking to the manager. We were offered a drink each in goodwill which I appreciated but that is not how I want to start an evening out. The ambience and furnishings in the restaurant are great and it has a lively vibe. The food was pretty average and the side order of sprouts and bacon ($17) were greasy and slightly burnt. We left them all but waiting staff did not ask if there was a problem with them when they were cleared. I was also surprised by the amount of furniture removal going on around us as tables and chairs had to be rearranged for new diners arriving. Watching staff trying to put joining boards between tables and push lines of chairs past our table was quite bizarre. Prices are very high and I donโt think the service or food are good enough to warrant them.

Awesome fine dining experience - ambience, food, drinks & staff all superb! Our party of six (6) arrived early and we were immediately seated. Entrรฉes of beef, fish & pork were cooked to perfection. Finished the evening with a heavenly array of desserts!
Be the first to ReplyGreat decor, food...meh
Beautiful place, the decor is truly beautiful. But the food? Overpriced and VERY underwhelming. We went right before the New YEAR and perhaps that contributed to the experience but....please, do not serve grapefruit juice which is clearly fermented. Also burata should be liquid inside and should ooze and spread lovingly while cut in half. If it doesn't, if it has crumbles inside it means only one thing, it was frozen and defrosted. WHO does that? Well, I did once and that's how I know. After that orange juice and the burrata (in fact two of them, for my adult child and myself), you kind of lost me. The presentation of the food did not match the decor, the side dishes were just veggies piled on top of plate, no garnish, no beautiful. For $20 I expect my mushrooms to be nicely presented. And my burrata fresh. I am not sure who this place caters to but the servers were either very unengaged, or so reverent as to make me uncomfortable. It gave the whole experience a little weird vibe. If you like this kind of treatment and have big bucks o spare, do go there! As I said, the decor is great!

We visited H&F before a show and were very pleased across the board. Fantastic wine selection and the food was equally as good. We ordered the seafood salad to start and if we return, Iโd pass.. it was fresh, just not for us. The steaks were flavorful and cooked perfectly, The truffle tots were delicious - and huge! Would definitely recommend!
Be the first to ReplyPoor service for a fine dining restaurant.
I took 4 business associated to "Hunt & Fish Club" in NYC for a business dinner on a Saturday evening. The bar as you enter is dark and moody with an impressive selection of liquor. Moving into the dining room again the lighting and ambience was good. Once seated we were served drinks and then it was almost a full hour before anyone came to take a food order or to deliver the bread. This poor inattentive level of service continued for the duration of our meal from our server Aaron R. Regarding the food the Shrimp Cocktail I had was good (but I have had better at other fine dining restaurants) and my 16oz Ribeye Steak was very good, cooked perfectly, tender and tasty. In total our meal was over US$1,000 (for 2 courses) and honesty whilst the food was good the service let down the experience. For this reason I have rated my visit 'Average'.

Went to this place before seeing a show for dinner. Our waiter Jorge was beyond delightful! Pop overs with some herb butter is complementary and they are huge! The bone marrow appetizer was my favorite of the night. For my entree, I ordered the Gnocchi with lobster and caviar. Everything was melt in your mouth good. The only thing I would not have ordered was the truffle tater tots. They were good but they are made in house and were huge and dense and definitely not what I would call a tater tot. It was a fantastic way to start a trip in NY, absolutely recommend!

Before theater reservation, ate in no rush thanks to the attentive service. Ordinarily I am not comfortable sitting in the middle of a restaurant, but the mirrored pole next to our table made it feel more intimate. Our drinks were delivered after our soup, which was the only negative we encountered regarding the service. My wife's tuna was dry (overcooked) but the sauce was excellent. On the other hand, my scallops were perfect -- and again the sauce was excellent. Sounds like a small thing, but we never had to ask for more water -- excellent service!
Be the first to ReplyElegant Dinner
On our annual holiday visit to NYC, my wife and I dined at the Hunt and Fish Club. The restaurant has a sleek city vibe with a full bar and bar seating and an elegant dining room. Service was very professional. We began with appetizers of a wedge salad and baked shrimp. The wedge was very fresh with tomato, bacon, avocado and blue cheese and the shrimp were savory in a vodka sauce with shallots. Entrees were the seared scallops over a sweet potato puree with Kale and bacon and the branzino in a lemon caper pesto sauce. Both were excellent. We shared an apple tart for dessert. The evening was very nice. For an elegant dinner try the Hunt and Fish Club.

Booked an anniversary dinner here and was not disappointed. A superb meal with attentive but not intrusive service through out. Good food, good wines and good service - what's not to like and appreciate.

Not quite we've expected, don't let the beautiful decor fool you as it stops there - staff needs to pay more attention to diners.

Not a private club , but an excellent upscale meal. Elegant restaurant with excellent meals. Large broiled lobsters and excellent steaks . Everything we had was excellent ,delicious and served well. Extensive and fairly expensive wine list although some reasonable bottles . Certainly they could satisfy wine snobs with the selections. Nice rum selection also. Excellent ,attentive service , but not effusive. Great for a party or a special evening . Right in the heart of NYC theatre district.

One of my New York favorites! Excellent food and service, elegant but not stuffy, and they are acutely most everyone there is going to the theater and they make certain you have a pleasant experience but leave on time. Nicely done!

Except for our server (order taker) our food was excellent, large portions well prepared. A bit noisy so don't look for a special date dinner. They serve large hot popovers instead of the typical bread basket. Our dessert was excellent but disappointing in portion size for the price charged. We would certainly return again despite the lack of attitude by our server.
Be the first to ReplyThe Good, the Bad & The Ugly
We were travelling from the UK to NY.C to meet our daughter who lives in Toronto. We have wanted to go to Hunt and Fish since before COVID and managed to book a table weeks before when reservations opened. The Good - The restaurant looks great, has a fab ambience and the Food is excellent. The quality and cookery of the food is excellent! The Bad - we were shown to a table in an annexe of the restaurant by the Toilets with no atmosphere where there were 4 tables. There was no explanation other than the restaurant was full! The service was non existent and the diners on the 4 tables were ignored. We met a lot of other diners on there way to/from the WC! The red wine was corked but no staff to complain to. The Ugly - I showed my disapproval by not giving a tip on a $400 check where we ( 3 of us) were in/out of the restaurant on a Saturday night within 1 1/4 hours of arriving. The waitress told the manager that we didnโt tip and he came over. My wife explained the issue and he was non plused. As we left another one of the Managers asked for our feed back and she was a lot more apologetic but tried the explain the room had a nice chandelier and we should have complained! My advice to anyone visiting this restaurant is to challenge them if they show you to the annex and refuse to eat there! It is quite scandalous and a โRip offโ. If one is paying $150_$200 per head you want the whole experience! Russell Nathan

Food was delicious but our server was outstanding! Hubby got swordfish. It was a perfect sized portion and not overly flavorful, just right. I got the boneless rib eye it was what you would expect from a ribeye nothing special. Our sides were tater tots that were recommended however we didnโt care. The creamed spinach was to die for! We also indulged in the grilled bacon which was very fatty, good thing we added the beet salad. Star of the night was the popovers they served to start!

We made reservations here for our last night in NYC and it didn't disappoint! We arrived prior to the restaurant opening at 5 and were able to get a seat at the bar to enjoy a glass of wine. The bar and restaurant were both beautiful spaces and our waitress & waiter both were constantly checking on us to ensure a fantastic experience. We had the seafood salad, salmon, and scallops, which were all delicious. Really enjoyed that they offered Turnbull by the glass, as it's one I really enjoy! Expect to pay over $100pp, but it is well worth it!
