An overall great experience! From the minute you are greeted at the door to when you exit, you will have a great time. Drinks are outstanding!

It was an ok experience. Not worth all the hype. The drinks were good and interesting, best bar in the world it is not. Sort of felt like a tourist trap
All Marketing Bad Cocktails
Overhyped and I was very disappointed in the drinks here. I read quite a bit about this place winning best bar and maybe for someone whos never had cocktails before in their life or been to a speakeasy it might be. They must have a hell of a marketer doing work for them because this was a very below average cocktail experience at best. I had the yuzu matcha which tasted nothing like either of those things and same with the pina colada which tasted more like cotton candy syrup than that. The Once Upon a time in Oaxaca was okay but i had many other better cocktails at other nearby places. The service was great and I have nothing but high praise for the people who greeted us and took our orders and the atmosphere was good as well but a far cry from best bar in the world. What a joke.
Better Options
Unimpressed. Had a reservation but got seated more than 15 min late. Limited variety of cocktails. We ordered 5 different drinks and none of them were memorable. Bartenders were friendly and attentive, however.
Handshake Speakeasy 2.0 You’ve been warned!
I’d been to Handshake Speakeasy before -and it was amazing. So, as I prepared to fly to Mexico City, I made a reservation. Memories of an amazing evening there last year told me I was going to have another great night. Why did I need to read recent reviews. It was going to be fantastic. This is why. They’ve opened a second space. Similarly decorated - but nowhere near the same experience. Instead of being shown into the original venue, were asked to wait in the hotel corridor. The rest of our ‘party’ (yes, this is now a group sitting) joined us. We were assured that this was ‘exactly the same experience’, led through a large door onto the landing of the service stairs, and asked to wait again. We were invited to shake hands, and assured, once again, that this was ‘exactly the same experience’. At this point we should have cut our losses, but we followed our host down the grubby service stairs, past the waste bins and sacks of refuse from the hotel. Many speakeasies create an artifice to add to the experience, but this was genuine filth - which is saying something considering that we’d already walked down Calle Amberes to get there. Once downstairs, we were asked (yes - again) to wait until we were called forward to go through a velvet curtain. ‘Bienvenidos’ rang out as we were shown to our seats. ‘Bienvenidos’ - ax the next guests were shown in. ‘Bienvenidos’, Bienvenidos’, ‘Bienvenidos’. On and on …. and on, until we were all seated. What had been (in the original venue) an enthusiastic, and apparently genuine, way to greet new customers had turned into a monotonous, half-hearted, mantra. And then the drinks. Pre-prepared, and poured out of plastic bottles into glasses with over-sized ice cubes, they shattered what little remained of the illusion of a ‘World Class’ cocktail bar. We paid. We left. We were disappointed. The best thing about Handshake Speakeasy 2.0 is its location. Within 20 minutes of leaving, we’d secured a table at Cityzen on the 38th floor of Sofitel Reforma, and were enjoying a real drink. Of course, you don’t have to take my word for it but, if you still decide to go - and are led downstairs - don’t say you weren’t warned.
Very Good, Over-Hyped
This is a very good cocktail bar. The only problem is the overhype. I was disappointed. Had I not expected the "best bar in the world" and the "top 10 cocktails in the world," I would have nothing bad to say. They make good cocktails but not the best. Like a typical speakeasy, it is not overcrowded. -There is nobody standing and the tables are spacious enough. Unless you have never been to a good cocktail bar in a major city, this is not worth going out of your way for. If convenient, it should be one of your top choices.
Definitely Reserve and GO!
Well I am sure we were not in the main room of the Handshake Speakeasy , since our 7:30 reservation was for one and it was my daughter and myself - we waited for about 15 minutes and were escorted into the lower level- we were told of the 90minute limit and then greeted with a hearty “Bienvenido” and seated at the bar with the bartenders preparing right in front of us –the ambiance is dark and elegant, our bartenders were friendly – although new – getting prepared for the main room I guess; and the music was good; I had the fig martinis, and my daughter 3 different minis- maybe it was the alternate room- the basement? still, it was a special experience – and a perfect way to end our Mexican trip – and upon leaving "Hasta Luego "
Great but probably a bit overhyped
The cocktails were great and one of the best in town, and the service was friendly. The 1.5h seat limit feels very rushed, especially since last call comes 40min earlier. Best in the world? Definitely not. Still worth a one-time visit.

Fun experience, creative drinks. Staff were friendly and helpful. Don’t mind that they boot you out in an hour; bill adds up fast

1.) Setting a Reward (Bid)

* Peter really wants to go, so he increases the bid (or reward) to $5.
* At this stage, the reservation does not exist yet.
2.) A Community User Picks Up the Bid
* DistinguishedTree58, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's bid.
* DistinguishedTree58 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to DistinguishedTree58 for any questions Peter may have as DistinguishedTree58 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
* DistinguishedTree58 now uses their connections at HANDSHAKE SPEAKEASY Roma Norte to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If DistinguishedTree58 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, DistinguishedTree58 receives the $5 reward which is credited to DistinguishedTree58's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
* Peter can now enjoy the dinner with his friends at HANDSHAKE SPEAKEASY Roma Norte!
* As with all transactions on AT, disputes and no-show fees are handled through the platform's community-driven resolution system. Users with a strong track record are incentivized to fulfill bids successfully, and community members can report issues to maintain trust in the marketplace.
