Halls Chophouse Nashville Reviews from The Last Year
Almost perfect!
We enjoyed ourselves and the service staff was stellar. Most of the food was delicious from the chopped salad, she crab soup, oysters, and the sides, of corn skillet, brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes! The disappointment came with two of the steaks. My son ordered the bone in filet, and it had so much marbling that it was difficult to cut..he had to shred it with his fork..he had no more than a quarter size of good meat. My husband got the wet aged ribeye..and it was very grisly and fatty. Neither was very hot. My salmon and my grandsons filet were delicious. As expensive as it was, we were hoping for better quality of the steaks.
Overpriced and under delivered
I ordered a prime rib sandwich and received a overcooked, overpriced 1/2 inch steak , when I asked they said yes we changed that from prime to steak but never changed the menu Some of the sides were good but overall for a $100 plus lunch chain restaurants do better Parking ?? 1 hour free valet pick my car up 4 minutes late , sorry sir $22 don’t waste your time just go to any chain steak place and it will be better
Perfect 10 Year Anniversary Experience.
We chose to go to Halls chophouse for our 10 year anniversary. It was an absolutely wonderful experience. From the moment we walked in and through the halls to our table, everyone was so welcoming and friendly. Our server Gretchen was amazing! She kept the evening flowing so smoothly and had so much knowledge about the menu, steak options as well as pairings of sides and wines. I would 100% go here again for a special evening and request her as our server. Absolutey wonderful time! Did not dissapoint!
These guys know beef and high touch customer service.
Special family dinner made outstanding with service that felt like we were there only table ( we were not). Want to do something unique- try the Tomahawk!
We had a terrible experience that I could publish a novel
We had a terrible experience that I could publish a novel with the amount of detail. Beware
Atmosphere was really pleasant.
We came here for the gospel brunch, but didn't hear much gospel. Then again my take on gospel may be different than Hall's take on gospel. Service was great overall. Food was subpar to me. The fried green tomatoes with the corn topping was phenomenal. I wanted to love the French toast(I'm a French toast girl), but they were too thick and hard for my liking. I would love to come back and try dinner. Overall it's a beautiful establishment. The decor was elegant and fitting. Cleanliness was top tier including the bathrooms. Parking-valet for I believe $17 or park in the garage around the corner.
Excellent restaurant in Nashville
Excellent restaurant!! First class attention. But the dishes are great!! The tuna tartare and roasted squid with delicious sauces, wonderful! The duck with a sweet sauce was wonderful!! The Wagu beef stake is super! Delicious desserts and top-notch wines. Do not miss it!
Hall's Appalls
What a BIG mistake we made going here for my birthday dinner. I'm still kicking myself that we didn't go to the fabulous Joe Muers instead. We had a nice time at Hall's months ago at the bar, good food and drinks with a good bartender so we were anxious to try them for dinner. We were greeted by a couple of hostesses who took us to a small banquette in one of the dining rooms. We rejected that table as it was against a partition and small. They reseated us next to a big party. Our server, William M, was loud and off putting. We ordered drinks, which we were not told had a surcharge for us ordering a specific vodka. I guess these restaurants don't think $25.00 each for a chocolate Martini and regular martini is enough. They have to gouge you for another $4.00. Beware of this as they don't tell you when you are ordering. I found this happened at Mimo's as well...Scoundrels !!!! The drinks were filled to the tippy top of the glasses. The olives for my husband's martini were hanging off the side because there was no room in the glass. The server had to walks so slow so he didn't spill it. We had to bend over the glass to drink some so we could then pick it up. My husband asked William about the oysters, but he did not answer about the different flavors of the oysters he mentioned. I ordered the She-crab soup which was cold and had to be sent back. For entrees I ordered the lamb rack and my husband the 8oz.filet. William quickly asked if they could butterfly his filet. Translation: we don't know how to cook a filet medium without opening it up so whatever juices might be in it can run out. Do you mind if we do that to your $54.00 filet? They cook their meets under temp anyway, medium is red center. I quickly said NO. I've been down that road before. Keep in mind this is suppose to be a high end chophouse. I saw another reviewer found the lamb rack to not be great. I ordered mint jelly so that saved it somewhat. There were quite a few chops on my plate. I would rather have better quality lamb in a smaller portion than substandard lamb. My husband's filet was OK. Mushrooms as a side were just OK as well. They did comp my dessert for my birthday. This is a cramped, noisy place. Tables are too close together and there are a lot of servers running around, bringing food and waiting the tables. It is far from a relaxing dining experience, and definitely not romantic. A server dropped a plate from the table next to us and I thought it landed on me. It was so close. We will probably never return, even to the bar. Dinner with tip and the comped dessert was $275.00. No wine just the 2 Martini's. As I mentioned Joe Muers is great. Polished service, nicely spaced tables, superb food and spectacular desserts. They have managers who care about your experience and interact with their patrons. I will be reviewing them soon. Never again for us at Hall's.
Decided to come back here after an insanely horrible
Decided to come back here after an insanely horrible experience the first time around. This was soon after they had opened, so we chalked it up to growing pains. We will never be back, as this location does not hold a candle to the Charleston location. The service was incredibly slow, I will give the waiter the benefit of the doubt that he was overworked, but 4 hours for a dinner is too long. We waited over an hour for our initial round of drinks to come. Appetizer plates sat out after we were finished for another hour. Giving that the waiter seemed stressed, I went to the bartender to ask if she knew where our drinks were. She was no help and said ask your server there is nothing I can do. She could have just said let me work on those for you. Never was an apology given, or any attention given to our concerns. Bottom line for a $1200 dinner, the experience was unacceptable. We will never be back.
Delicious Food and Amazing Hostesses
The food and drinks at Hall’s were so delicious! Our steak was cooked perfectly and everything was amazing. The bartenders took care of our needs for dinner but I have to send a shout out to the hostesses tonight for tracking down my phone number from our reservation in order to contact me about my husband leaving his credit card behind when we left the restaurant. We were in from out of town and planning to leave the next morning so they did us a huge favor by contacting me right away to let us know. Thank you so much - We will be back!

Gave Halls another shot.
Ordered the bone-in filet this time. Still fatty and hard to chew. I don't think it was just by chance this time. Not a fan. Also the server seemed irritated that we waited on an additional person to arrive before ordering our mains, despite us ordering hundreds of dollars of drinks and apps. Plain and simple, I can cook a far superior steak at home and not have to feel like spending $800 for dinner for 2 was chump chain to our server.
Perfection all around
My wife and I were in Nashville for our 45th anniversary. We had no plans for Thursday night, so I booked us dinner at Halls Chophouse. Service, food, and drinks were perfect. Everything came out as ordered and in a timely manner. I will put this on my list of things to do when in Nashville. Thank you, Halls Chophouse, for a great evening.
Watch out when ordering steak temperature
Crowded but nice. Wine and sides for the table were delicious. Super disappointed when the very expensive steak was overcooked for more than one in our party. Staff was friendly and attentive though rushed off their feet. Would go again but would definitely insist on the right temperature for my steak.
The food, ambiance, and service was top tier.
I've been twice and have not been disappointed. I plan to get to their Sunday brunch.
The food was incredible! I had a steak (Ribeye) it was lean
The food was incredible! I had a steak (Ribeye) it was lean and tender! My wife had the shrimp and grits.. She a shrimp and grits connoisseur so her vote matters;) The corn is crazy good!! For dessert we had cinnabon cheese cake!! 5 out 5!!!
Exceptional food and service.
I celebrated my birthday and they made sure it was special!
We visited once.
Service was good. Food quality was subpar when this was brought to the manager's attention, he dismissed our comments and gave us a sales pitch about the grade of their meat as if we'd never experienced fine dining.
2 of the 3 meals were great
The location is great and the facility looks amazing! I decided to take my wife here for her 50th birthday and we had our daughter with us as well. Their meals were very satisfying for them. However, my meal wasn’t so good. I ordered the lamp rack and I want it to be medium well. That was the worst lamb that I have ever had. It was dry and it was hard and it had no flavor at all. I will say, though that the waitress continuously asked us was everything OK however, due to this being a special night for my wife, I didn’t want to create any disturbance for her or the waitress. To be honest, I was very dissatisfied with the meal.
Service great.
Food awful. Ask for a steak medium you get one that moo's. You ask for them to correct it, they don't. "There's nothing we can do". Do better, that's what. Hall's, you made me want to shove screw drivers in places where screw drivers don't belong.

We had a private room with a very reasonable group of people. It took a long time to receive service and the managers were not accommodating. We completely understood the complications that come with a large party but the service and management on this particular occasion was very much below par. Our steaks were extremely undercooked and almost none of us ate them which was the root of our problems but everything about the place was very below average. I would not recommend this place to anyone and it is not worth the money. Hopefully it will improve over time.
Stan the man served us.
Best dinner I have had in a looooong time...and I'm from Nashville! Filet Oscar style, soft shell crab, tuna tartar, martini.... 10/10
I've come here for dinner once but have been wanting to try
I've come here for dinner once but have been wanting to try the Gospel brunch and what better day than to come for Easter Sunday. As soon as I walked in, I could hear the beautiful angelic voices of the amazing artists. We chose to sit on the patio which was covered today but gave a nice breeze for the day. Our waiter was very attentive and walked us through the brunch menu but also letting us know that the majority of items on their dinner menu was also available to order. I ordered the chophouse omelet and a pineapple mimosa. The omelet was really good but a bit salty at times. The mimosa was really good. On the menu they only had a regular mimosa but I asked if they can do one with pineapple juice and they made it for me! The patio is away from the live music but at times they had some old school Gospel tunes playing on the speakers which was nice Overall, the music was amazing but would definitely plan to sit indoors next time just to hear the live music better but the food and atmosphere was really good. Highly recommend this place whether you're coming with your friends, family or a date, this restaurant is a nice treat The restaurant offers valet which was $17 today
Second hand embarrassment is how I'd describe my experience
Second hand embarrassment is how I'd describe my experience here. Starting off with walking up to the host stand with 5 people around it, then being told to just pick a spot anywhere in the barroom. I've been walked to the bar at an Applebee's, but the hostess and gm seemed too busy gossiping to care. We finally pick a spot at the end of the bar by the service well, which I'd suggest against because it is the most claustrophobic I've ever felt with nobody sitting around me. I would have to guess they're going for a record of most seats and tables in a barroom. Starting off with the saddest plate of fried calamari I've ever seen. It looked like they accidentally poured too much sweet chili sauce onto the plate and sent it out. Our mains made me wonder if the cooks were going drink for drink with the guests at the bar. The plating was god awful, slightly charred half of a tomato and a wilted piece of lettuce with a squirt of sauce on it(??). The steaks looked like someone sat on them and thats what they considered seasoning. I know sandbagging is common at tourist centered spots but damn make it less obvious the kitchen doesn't care. That being said the drinks were the only saving grace about the experience. If you like food, don't go here. Built for and ran by yuppies and good ole boys with no taste and poor fitting suits. I'd be embarrassed to even serve people the food that I saw come out of the kitchen.
Disappointed
Food and service were average. What they don’t tell you when ordering a bottle of wine is the price on the wine list doesn’t include the 15% liquor by the drink state tax. Thus add 15% plus sales tax of approximately 10% to the wine list price for an almost 25% add on. Most places incorporate the 15% tax in the menu price. In addition to the above, we were given an erroneous bill overcharging us by almost $200. The only explanation given was “My mistake, sorry about that”. I will not repeat and advise close scrutiny of your bill when it is presented.
Fabulous dining and amazing atmosphere
This restaurant is outstanding. Visited with a party of 6, from the minute we walked in we were greeted by a number of staff and walked through the restaurant and seated at a table beside the window with a beautiful view of Nashville at night. The waitress gave us a tutorial of the menu and gave us the right amount time to make selections. The sommelier’s knowledge of the wines were impeccable and on point. Every dish was better than the last and the cocktails well made. Enjoyed every moment!
All-around Excellent Experience
Solo dining at Hall’s Chophouse on a Saturday evening: 5:00 pm reservation but 24 had two lanes shut down for a wreck so traffic was at a dead stop - called the restaurant 4:45 to inquire if I should bother coming… was told absolutely yes… they would hold my table until 5:30. Very gracious. Was greeted warmly and seated in the dining room at a table for two, with windows overlooking the city. Server was very genuine and made great suggestions… although I was prepared to leave leftovers the server himself asked if I would prefer 1/2 portions of everything. I was shocked that was even an option and I thought it was very thoughtful. I ordered: Iced Tea Opted to pass on apps (I knew I would have a lot of food coming) & cocktails (driving) Beet salad- perfectly dressed, just enough citrus; just enough sweetness to compliment the beets without taking away from the savory elements and greens. Skillet corn- I do not hate corn but I don’t care for it. I never order it or buy it but will eat it if served. The waiter said hands down best selling/most recommended side. Okay then! It was served in a little skillet the size of a saucer… piping hot, rich, creamy, cheesy, crispy and the corn tasted strait from the cob. Truly delicious. Spinach with garlic and olive oil- straight forward, didn’t expect much but it was next level… I don’t know what was in it but it was the most flavorful sautéed spinach I’ve ever had. Highly recommend. 6oz fillet - medium. I like an occasional steak but I’m more of a fish / chicken / junk food person… 6oz seemed very big to me and almost daunting but it was tender beyond! Lightly seasoned and although it was lean, it had very decadent, rich flavor you’d expect from a fattier cut. The bread was bread… The butter was delicious and seemed like it was freshly made…honestly I ate the bread just to have something to put the butter on. 🐽 I was approached three times by who I assumed was the GM, to check on me- not intrusively though. Since I was nervous about making it on time to TPAC I opted to skip dessert but I really wanted the bread pudding… the server even offered a 1/2 portion of that as well. I sadly had to leave 1/2 the steak and the rest of those delicious sides, since I didn’t think they’d survive an evening in a hot car but looking back maybe the risk of botulism might have been worth it. Total a after tip $130. Honestly 11/10 experience as a solo dinner, all the boxes ✔️ - normal table, warm attentive service (by literally everyone I encountered from the moment I arrived), outstanding & thoughtful customer service to unexpectedly offer smaller portions, and of course the food itself was superb. I can’t wait to return! Moral of the story: if you’re dining alone and still want an amazing experience - I’m just not one to sit at a bar for a meal, although it is an option there - please add Hall’s to your list! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
one of the best meals i have ever had
One of the best dinning meals and experiences i have ever had..... period The steaks were amazing and the service was on par with the best restaurants i have ever been to.
Halls has taken a serious backslide.
Our first visit was a fantastic experience. Our next visit would be our last. The food was cold and the service was terrible. We asked for bread 3 times! Our water glasses were empty. This place has slipped. I’m sticking with Jeff Ruby’s.
Okay visit
Be prepared to pay $17 for valet. We had dinner reservations for 7pm, but did not get seated until 7:40. We ordered stuffed mushrooms as the appetizer and several different cocktails. They were all wonderful. Several people in our group ordered steak, ravioli and I ordered the duck. The duck was the best I’ve had in a long while. The steaks were good, but overpriced. The service was just okay, not bad, not great. We asked to take our leftovers home and they only packed the meat, none of the accompaniments that were on our plates made it home. That was disappointing as the prices for our dinners was fairly expensive, and for me it was to be a second meal. Overall it was good for a one time experience.
