Hanna is exceptionally beautiful inside and out.
I will only go whenever she is working. Such a gem with professional service and the drinks are delicious. The best!!

This was my favorite dining experience while visiting New York. Prices were very reasonable and we were full when we left. I loved the Spicy Cold Tofu and the Tonkatsu Ramen. We shared 3oz of beef and it was enough with the other food. An entire pitcher of Kirin was only $12. That's an amazing deal. (Recently I had tea at a Thai restaurant in Oakland, California that made with a teabag for $8.50.). I could take or leave the spicy cucumbers but they weren't bad. The service was very friendly and quick. Super happy with our server Kittipong. The only issue could be that it was at least two flights up a fairly steep staircase to get to the restaurant. This could prevent an issue with someone disabled or elderly. Other than that, I'd highly recommend this place and I'd go again when we visited New York.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and service.
Love the harami steak. Sauces are really good and I'd also recommend the cheese dipping
Be the first to ReplyGo if you have never tried Yakiniku before.
I remember when this place first opened like ten or so years ago. It was unique and different. Now it's just outdated - literally everything is outdated from the seats to the cups to the grills, etc. The menu is also subpar but the price point justifies the quality. In other words, think fast food version of Korean-Japanese bbq. The menu is also massive. It's literally a book of all sorts of grillable meats and vegetables and side dishes... it goes on and on. Now that there are so many quality Korean bbq spots in NYC, there really is no reason to go to this place.
Be the first to ReplyWe start to order and the food looks good.
The grill keeps on turning off before we get the food.Once we get the food it looks fine.but the meat looks a little questionable. We started to cook the food but the grill keeps turning off. When the beef tongue was cooked, a guy from our party eats it and almost threw up explaining how the meat had a weird flavor and it wasn't cooked. Then when I started to eat the cubed beef, I spit both of them out, they tasted disgusting.I wish I had a picture of both but they took it away.
Be the first to ReplyThe food was alright.
Once we got to our table, the grill wasn't working. We called our waiter and he tried to fix it but the grill was just turning on and off, but that isn't even the worst part. The beef tongue looked a little weird, so we asked for another. The plate still looked a little off but it was better. As we were eating, we noticed a weird taste that caused me to throw up. The service was absolutely awful. The waiters kept ignoring us when we asked for something and always forgot our orders.
Be the first to ReplyThis place was fun.
Service was friendly and helpful. Food was delicious and plentiful. The kids had fun cooking their own food right there. Overall a fun dining experience. I'd definitely recommend this restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyHost was great.
I messed up my reservation but the host was kind enough to make one for us. The environment and ambiance was welcoming and lively. It was just the food that warranted the lower rating. We got the Meat Lovers Set. Compared to other bbq places I've been the meat was quite tough and bland. We got the buttered corn on the side as well which was tastiest. The meat nigiri was the best item from the Meat Lovers Set and the kaarage was second best. Come for the ambiance and service but considering the price, the food was disappointing.

I love gyu kaku, it's always a great experience with delicious and flavorful meat. I've tried all the different restaurants in Manhattan and this one in particular has a nice window view of the street. Happy hour deals are awesome, highly recommend to come during that time or a lunch special. I tried the meat lovers special for $90 and there were LOTS of appetizers and meats to try - more than enough for 2 people. I think it is good value and even better value during the specials but next time I would just get the meats I like. The meat lovers deal is a Good way to try meats you haven't tried before but since I've gone numerous times, I'd just next time get everything a la carte that I like. Try out Japanese BBQ -I personally like it better than Korean since it has marinated meats.

Kobe Japanese beef was great!!!! Beer price 4$ on Happy hours till 5 pm. Also most of the food on menu cheaper before 5pm. Desert Matcha ice cream and Matcha tiramisu was really tasty . Not very crowded during the week.. so you can better make a reservation and get the spot by the window.
Be the first to ReplyEasy to make reservation, their combo menus were great
Easy to make reservation, their combo menus were great (lots of variety), serving the giant mug draft beer is big plus, also S'mores for dessert (part of the combo) were great as well! 4 of us ate so much and had so much fun. Great for big group!
Be the first to ReplyThis has been a usual spot for me but no longer.
Very bad experience here on Friday. Came for a date night with my husband as we usually love the food here. We got seated at a table that was very weird- asked the waiter if we could switch because on one side of the booth there was no space for legs so it was very uncomfortable. He said no even though there were many other tables. Food gets here and the grill wasn't working- we asked a few diff people and they said it was fine but after 10 mins our food was barely cooking so they actually moved us. Weirdest thing was that they tried to sit somewhere else there after us even though they never fixed the grill?Once we were moved it was comfortable and good but assumed they would take something off the bill or throw a desert or drink on but nope nothing. Very disappointed and honestly can't imagine returning.

Back again for lunch! Definitely recommend downloading the app so you can redeem rewards for each visit. Also check in on Yelp for free edamame.I got the beef sukiyaki lunch set which included beef sukiyaki bibimbap, miso soup and 2 pork gyoza. I'd skip on the beef sukiyaki next time as there was barely any beef in the dish but lots of rice and onions. The gyoza were crispy and tasty. My brother tried their karaage and garlic noodles. Karaage was pretty tasty and the spicy mayo sauce on the side was a plus. The garlic noodles were good but I think the kitchen forgot our order as this dish didn't come out by the time I was finished with my food. We just had to ask for a takeout box since we were getting ready to leave anyway.Great service though! Our server was always nearby to assist with anything we needed. Appreciate the wet towlettes we get at the end of the meal. I was able to redeem toro beef through the app and it was soo good! I think I'll go for the 2 meats lunch special next time.
Be the first to ReplyFood is amazing and comes out pretty quickly.
Drinks are awesome. Staff is great. Only issue is I don't understand why they have to yell across the dining room floor in an unknown language and I get communication is important. I come here often and I'm not talking about the greetings when the host seats you down after they walk you in. It's annoying when you dine somewhere expecting a great experience.... But completely ruined because you are not sure if you are in restaurant or in foreign country...
Be the first to ReplyI finally came back here to visit for a great dinner.
The last time I came to this location was before Covid. I have to say that the service was AMAZING per usual. They still go by the one hour and 45 minutes of dining, cant complain about that since they are always busy. I will be coming back of course everything was delicious.
Be the first to ReplyThe service was extremely friendly and polite.
Our server was as attentive as she could be considering how busy they were. That's totally fine with me, she was around when we needed her and she was so accommodating. with that said, this place is overrated and overpriced. The one drink I had was disgusting, so overly sweet with almost no alcohol (lychee Mojito). The small portions of meat made it easier to try a variety but just overpriced for what it is. This is me saying that if you're OK with overpriced food and crappy drinks, you should definitely give it a try. The tuna volcano was delicious as I have never had rice fried so crispy with the raw tuna on top. That was very different from anything I've experienced before. The fried chicken was extremely crispy and delicious but not something I would order there. (over-priced)There is an exceptional variety of me but don't kid yourself, most of them do not look like the photo as we had trouble identifying them when they hit the table as I am having trouble identifying them now while I'm writing this review. However, there meats incredibly tasty and their dipping sauces are amazing! (I didn't know that we had gone to this restaurant before several years ago on the Vegas trip, we thought it was just some random barbecue place. However, the experience and the quality of food there was so much better.)I know this review seems mixed because I have mixed feelings about it. The food is good, a great experience, but do I want to spend that kind of money on a everyday meal? No. Is it fancy enough to be considered a special meal? No. See my dilemma?
Be the first to ReplyThis restaurant is located on a side street in a building
This restaurant is located on a side street in a building on the second floor , some place one would easily walk pass. I found them on Yelp and was excited to try. I ordered the fried octopus balls, with the fried chicken karagge bowl that comes with rice and cabbage , my husband created his own bento box with two different types of steaks and sauces, it also came with Karagge fried chicken and fried pork dumplings. I loved my food so much especially the octopus balls (I'm sure there's like a specific name for it that I can't remember). My husband enjoyed his food as well. I will definitely be back here as soon as possible to try more.
Be the first to Replynever coming back to this location again.
besides the b rating, the asian girl that has dark hair need to be fired asap. she has a sick attitude. the other hostess that's indian is useless all she was doing was laughing meanwhile the 3rd hostess was too busy on the phone. the service here sucks.
Be the first to ReplyI've been to several Gyu-Kaku locations and have always had
I've been to several Gyu-Kaku locations and have always had a great experience, except here. My mom was in town visiting, and I wanted her to have a great dining experience. I didn't have a reservation so I called ahead and was told that although they couldn't guarantee how long I would wait, it would be less than 20 minutes. After promptly arriving (within the next 10 minutes), I was told that the wait would be 45 minutes for a table for 2 (they told us we could wait by the bar so I chose to add myself to the waiting list). After getting a notification that our ETA was 45 minutes (via OpenTable) and waiting close to an hour, I checked in with the front desk, and asked how much longer the wait would be. And then was suddenly told by the hostess "there would be no tables available for us anytime soon." I was extremely confused, and was then told that only those with reservations had guaranteed tables. If you're a walk-in, you only get a table if a standing reservation is cancelled or doesn't show. They don't hold any tables for "walk-ins." No one explained this to us, and had I known, we would not have stood at the bar around waiting for an hour just for a "chance" at a table. The service was extremely poor and the hostesses just offered us a half-assed apology that no one properly explained this to us earlier. To add, the only reason I found out is because I asked for an update. Thank you for wasting our time with empty promises - I will definitely not be returning and will no longer recommend this place to others.

Guys-Kaku's food is always amazing but this three star is for the reception people. Guess this location just don't care about customer experience anymore. I got lost and was late for 2 mins. And then my husband who was there for 15 mins couldn't be seated and they insisted on a whole party show up even they knew that I was lost and trying to find the entrance. We were passed and don't know when can be seated. Awkwardly standing at the reception area now.

the server who served us came back every 2 mins to ask if we wanted to order more which i found kind of annoying and ruined our whole mood for the duration of our visit :/ other than that... the food is really good but the drinks could be better
Be the first to ReplyThe service here was decent but they seemed extremely busy
The service here was decent but they seemed extremely busy on a Friday night. They held our table until we both arrived. This was our first time here and the server recommended the $85 combo which has a sampling of everything. He also pointed out the other options for a la carte and for cooked food. We opted for the $85 set. There was good variety but the meat portions seemed small. This was definitely a different experience but the heat from the grill was uncomfortable. They were really busy and I had to ask the bus person for a soda refill. The server checked twice to make sure everything was good and changed the grill. However, towards the end of the meal, it felt they were trying to usher us out. We were told at the front that we had 90 minutes for our meal but it had only been about an hour. I was finishing up the leftover and they asked if they could take away our plates. When I said I was still working on it, the server made sure to come back in a few minutes to check again. Then he quickly brought out the s'mores and the check. I saw there was a wait on the way out. The yaki beef had a nice marinated taste but the other meats were just OK. Not sure if I will come back, but if I do, I am definitely going to skip the combo and go for the lesser priced options.
