Grassa Vancouver Reviews from The Last Year
2nd time back at grassa - we were sad the Squid Ink
2nd time back at grassa - we were sad the Squid Ink linguine is off the menu, but caused us to try something else Fusilini: 7.5/10 Toothy pasta, spicy and creamy sauce with well seasoned sausage, I wish the sauce had a tiny bit more sweetness to balance the spice, but if you like a more acidic/less sweet tomatoe based sauce, this dish is great Chicken parm: 8.5/10 Different than the typical chicken parm, wrapped in a delicate crepe like dough, rich sauce, cheese adds a creamy element. we like sitting on the side of the bar and watching the kitchen work - all in all, good "staple" date night place when you're craving pasta. Will continue to return and try new items
No sit down, menu is shrouded in mystery with its titles.
Food can be good if you manage to guess the right one for you.

While visiting Vancouver for the day, we were walking along the waterfront and decided to try Grassa for lunch. We had an absolutely delicious lunch at Grassa. You place your order at the counter, pick a table and the food is brought to your table. We enjoyed the Brussels sprouts, Chicken Parm Cannelloni, the Pork Belly Mac and Cheese and garlic bread. If we are in the area, we will definitely return.

I've visited several locations, and lately all have been very disappointing. I recently visited the waterfront location, and ordered the pizza pocket. it was inedible, "crust" was wet and soaked with grease from the pepperoni, or possibly the way it was stored? I don't know, but it was completely soggy as if microwaved. Bleh. We also ordered then chicken Parmesan cannelloni, and it was awful, rather than a crispy chicken parm, the pasta was filled with soggy chunks of mystery meat, sort of like the pasta had been filled with a chicken stew. So expensive for bad food. If you must dine here, stick to the regular menu items, like the fusilli or the Miles.

Found Grasa on a rainy day, had their pasta, and it instantly became my favorite spot.
Wow this is phenomenal pasta for the price.
Usually pasta like this would be $20+. The garlic bread is also so so good. The interior is simple and modern. Good seating, seat yourself. The food also came out really quick considering it was Father's Day. Food portions are not huge but work for a quick bite to share or a solid portion for one person. Would definitely visit again!
Delicious fresh pasta and the service was so nice.
They gave our kids some dough to play with and they were so excited! 10/10

This place advertises itself as a high end pasta place with small portions. We got here, you order and pay at the counter then go to your table with a number. They don't give you water for the table, and if you ask for your own there's no ice In it. The pasta was very mid... and the calamari was mostly fried vegetables. Would have rather saved my $80 and made something better at home. Disappointed.

Daryn the server was extraordinarily rude upon entering the building, she wouldn't allow me to order despite it being 10 minutes to close. She told me that kitchen closes earlier than the time listed both online and on the front of the store. Once she saw me pull my cellphone out to write a review she begin to tell me "oh actually you can order". Extremely unprofessional and I expected better from such a great restaurant. Won't be returning again.

Really was enjoying my pesto pasta until I bit into a piece of metal. Couldn't finish my meal. I get it, mistakes happen, but this could have caused some damage. For reference, we were here today 5/25 around 11:10 am

Was our first time dining at Grassa- it will definitely be a popular destination for my next visit in Vancouver. We chose our meals and ordered inside, then seated ourselves outside on the patio in the Sun!! Our meals were delicious and the presentation as pleasing also! My carbonara was superb- noodles were perfect, and with the egg on top- Fantastic!! The cashier that helped was friendly- Vivyka helped us navigate the menu. The location along the waterfront is nice for strolling after you dine!!
The food was delicious.
Got Carbonara and fussily vodka. The service was great, we ordered food and drinks at the register, we sat down and sipped our beer/cider/waters...waited for our food to arrive. The ambience was great...we sat outside and had a view of the waterfront.
Overall Terrible
I came to this location with my mother to celebrate my birthday. We started the night walking over 3 blocks to the restaurant due to the lack of parking near the restaurant. This can be overlooked though due to its location. When we got there it was pretty late in the evening. The restaurant was virtually empty. Despite being so empty, after we were seated we had to wait almost 30 minutes for the food to arrive. Not to mention, we had to place our order first before we could even be seated. And there was also an implicit demand for a tip, which I believe is a reward for service not placing an order. Despite the half-an-hour wait the food was not served without a wait for a further 5-10 minutes after my mom got up and asked the waitress where our food was. The food itself was warm at best, felt like the food was sitting for a good while after being cooked before being served. We had done the homework and my mother had indeed checked the ratings before we selected the restaurant. There virtually was no service and if it was known what service we were up to and the bland and almost cold food that we were served, I am not sure I would have added the kind of tips that we did. To top it all, the ambiance was very loud and disproportionate to the number of people that were present at that time. It will not be a restaurant that I would want to ever go to again, especially, if it is my birthday, and will be the last restaurant that I might recommend to my circle.

Yes! We are so glad that Grassa has crossed the river! The homemade pastas are phenomenal! The pumpkin spice fritters weren't my favorite but they grew on me the more I ate them. The fusilli was sooo delicious and perfectly spicy! The highlight was definitely the chittara! Such a unique flavor and so satisfying!

It was my first time going to the Vancouver location and would definitely be back. They have lots of indoor seating and plant decor that really add to the ambience of the restaurant. We ordered the squid ink and it was so tasty and had a spice to it. The carbonara is always a must, in my opinion. The food came out so quickly after we ordered at the counter. The garlic bread is also the perfect addition!

Best pasta every my fav is the pork belly Mac and cheese it is so good and it has good drinks there to
Great location and ambience.
We ordered a couple of pastas, some garlic bread and a Caesar salad. The pastas were really good, the garlic bread average and overpriced. This brings me to the Caesar salad....this had waaay too much cheese but that wasn't the end of it..it was the food poisoning I got as a result of it. Pretty sure got it here as hadn't eaten anywhere else the whole day before and after eating here. Ridiculous that this place prices premium and clearly is not maintaining food hygiene standards!!!
Meatballs: 7/10, good appetizer and size, not dreaming
Meatballs: 7/10, good appetizer and size, not dreaming about them but would possibly order again if we were in the mood garlic bread: 7/10, good but not amazing but totally worth it to get all the sauce off your plate, for the price I think it makes sense to get it squid ink linguine: 9/10, the BEST cook on shrimp we have ever had. the sauce was flavorful with a hint of spice. the only reason it's not a 10/10 was that we felt the noodles were a touch too toothy. 40 seconds longer and it would hit the nail. could have just been the night, it was packed. either way, it's a must order for us and we will be back for this dish specifically!

I had the meatball side and potato gnocchi both made from scratch, and they were to die for! Takes a little while to get your food but that's due to its homemade nature so no complaints there. PS - the homemade lemonade is to die for!! 10/10 recommend Grassa

Came here on a quiet Friday afternoon before our Salt and Straw Yelp experience and just a good no fuss no muss dining time. Quiet weekdays are great for easy parking and fast meals. We each a beer and a pasta dish (see pasta dishes below) and shared a cauliflower/radicchio salad. The best thing was the salad in this order, but would come back and dine here if I was in the area. The rigatoni ragu was good but the ragu could be a little more tender. Otherwise, no complaints. Great chill ambiance and service!
Visited this corner store on a sunny day at the waterfront.
What a great experience. You view the menu and order your food and drinks from a very nice team member. You get a number and choose a seat to sit. They bring your food to you. From the get-go, everyone was very informative and helpful. We did not wait long to order or CR food. Which is all made fresh ! We started off with a couple of grassa white wines. Pretty tasty and reasonably priced. After we found our seat very shortly, our chop salad came. Very nice salad with Canelli beans in it and a tangy salad dressing. A good size for us to share. We also ordered the eggplant. Wow, this was delicious. Beautifully fried eggplant. That was crispy. Still with the tomato Ragu. Beautiful dollop of fresh ricotta. Cheese on top. Absolutely yummy. The second thing we had was the handmade propel with truffles. This was our favorite thing. The noodles were so tender and deliciously flavorful. The sauce was amazing! Winner for us. We ordered a special for the week, dumpling week, it was kind of like a hot pocket but way better. Tender flaky dough shaped in a triangle stuffed with some pretty tasty pepperoni. It was crispy but yet tender. I liked it. We enjoyed every dish very much. We got extra little plates and just shared everything so we could taste it all! I definitely would come back here. The view is really nice, the inside is bright and welcoming. The staff are efficient and friendly. I really like the handmade pasta and so I will definitely go back to try some other things.
