Amazing food and cool concept.
I wanted to buy and eat everything! Open from 7-4pm daily. Perfect spot for breakfast or lunch. I got the egg scramble with labneh and sourdough and it was absolutely delicious. The line system could use a little bit of help but the staff taking our order was very nice and friendly. Would recommend going early morning for products to buy.

Had a great brunch at Gjusta once again! We went in at around 11 am on a Friday. The wait was not too bad for ordering and there were open seats outside. They told us they had carrot cake in the back to order at first but didn't let us order it at the register, which was unfortunate. We tried the blueberry cornmeal cake, bread pudding, and smoked brisket banh mi sandwich today. All of the food was top notch! The crust around the bread pudding was especially good. The ambiance at Gjusta is always great. We were a bit cold so they turned on the heaters, so we were able to comfortably enjoy the food. Will definitely be coming back sometime soon.

I've held off on writing this review because it is my neighborhood joint and I'm still occasionally going to Gjusta as it is at the end of my daily walks. the good - great egg sandwich, tuna confit, and great spreads. the bad: seems like the meats and many of the essential ingredients are no longer organic. food is overpriced $18 for a tiny container of olive tapenade, and the overall attitude is that you should feel privileged to eat there. the management and staff (with the exception of 2 great check out people) have no concept of customer service. if you sit at the bar you have to hunt down someone to bring you water and glasses, and you often have to get your own silverware. when you sit outside you sometimes have to clean your own table (which I have now done twice), get your own water, etc...it's basically self service in every way - but the irony is that they automatically tack on a 20% gratuity at checkout. so even with no (or very little) service you are still paying for it. The ordering process takes forever and is totally chaotic With long lines. When they gaffed on one of our orders (didn't tell me it was not available that day after I ordered it and waited 20 minutes for it to come and it never came) they didn't even offer to compensate me in any way. When I mentioned it to the manager she told me how hard the clientele is on the staff. I suspect they will all now be bringing stress dogs to work with them. I worked in restaurants for years and it IS hard but maybe if the service was better it wouldn't be as bad and they would have happy customers? if you want great "organic" food, great service with happy wait staff - you would be better off going 5 min further north to Papille Gustative. wait staff are all SO nice and every time a happy experience.
Be the first to ReplyThe food is good but definitely overpriced.
I got a super thin sandwich for $25, and it's so sad looking that I wish I had gotten a combo plate from Erwheon instead. I don't think I will come back for food, but their bread is still top notch.

RIP OFF, DO NOT GO!!! Nice ambience however, I only got a yoghurt with fruit and a coffee to sit at the cramped bar. When I was paying at the self service machine prior to sitting at the bar, the server immediately flipped the iPad back to add 20% service charge without my say so. I was unsure as to what he did, as It was so quick - I was a little taken back, as I was expecting to add a service myself. The receipt came out as "20% miscellaneous" which I think is disgraceful. Service charge is discretionary to the customer & I should have at least been notified by the server as to what he was doing without my permission. Will NOT be back!!
Be the first to ReplyI love the vibe here, especially when the weather is nice.
The food was good, but please prepare for the long line to order. I was so confused about how to order. So make sure you get the ticket before you go in line. You also have to find the table yourself. P.S. The service charge is insane. They charge a mandatory 20% service fee for in-dining and 15% for takeout.
Be the first to ReplyEverything here is top notch.
Of course the bread. Also the pastries, sandwiches, salads, deli items. Always busy but to be expected given the quality. Expensive but to be expected given the quality.
Be the first to ReplyCool atmosphere.
Lovely outdoor seating with plenty of space to enjoy your meal on a nice day (some seating inside, but very minimal). It's a bit chaotic and overwhelming walking in for the first time (especially on a Saturday afternoon). To dine in you take a ticket and wait for your number to be called to order. Waited about 15-20 mins to order, but the food came out pretty quick. Employees were all very pleasant and the food was great. The salmon burger I ordered was just ok in my opinion, but my girlfriend ordered and enjoyed the tuna sandwich and we shared a side of carrots and loved them. Also tried out two of the fresh pastries that were also delicious. Definitely recommend trying this place out.

Some of the best breakfast I had with a bagel and smoked trout. Quick service and cool outdoor seating.

I'll be back in Los Angeles in a few weeks and I've been trying to pick out a few places to dine at. I was here about 4 months ago, and really enjoyed everything I had. I still think about that croque madame from time to time. I docked this place a star because of the price and service charge, but after mulling it over, that was unfair of me. I'm seriously considering coming back here, so in my mind, that makes this place a five star establishment.

If you're dining in, make sure to get a ticket! It's a bit confusing for first time goers, but there's technically no line unless you're doing express takeout. Also, be prepared to wait if you're planning to go during rush hour. Minimum we waited 30 minutes, but it was worth well the wait. Now onto the food, I got the make your own bagel. It was amazing! Their classic lox was so buttery and smooth. I recommend getting their Bialy, but be fast since they run out throughout the day. There is a beautiful space outside for everyone to eat. I highly recommend getting brunch or breakfast here since it's just so beautiful. After, you can go to their goods store right next door to view some of their pottery, knick knacks and flowers.

The ambiance is fantastic, making it an ideal spot for lunch or dinner. The bakery offerings are excellent, though I do wish they had a wider range of gluten-free bread options. The pastries are delectable, as are the customizable bagels and sandwiches. A must-try is the pastrami by the pound, which comes with bread and your choice of sides.

Amazing sandwiches with everything possible plus special sauce I love coming here. They close early so get there and order first before wine tasting
Be the first to ReplyFood is delicious.
I love the variety of choices and everything is fresh. The line is long so manage your time, but it is worth the wait
Be the first to ReplyBIG MISTAKE, HUGE.
I've never been made to feel like a second class citizen just to east breakfast. The food is just fine, looks better than it actually is. Even though half of my family was in line to order, they don't let you sit down until you place an order. And even once you have placed your order, no one helps you find an open table - chaos. The host made me and my family members leave a table and was extremely rude about it. They clearly need a better system to sit their customers and serve food in a timely fashion. They should not make customers feel bad about sitting at a table. There are plenty of other great restaurants in LA serving amazing food with great service. Also 20% service charge for rude people?!

The croissants were amazing and the latte was good, not great. The hall had lots of delis and served pasties, sandwiches, and snacks for those nearby the LAX office. I think the croissants are perfect. We had chocolate, plain, ham and cheese, and the baklava croissant. All were eaten for breakfast with nary a crumb after. Highly recommend if you are nearby!

I heard this place gets crazy crowded on weekends and it wasn't too bad especially since outside seating was closed due to weather. I loved seeing all the freshly baked bread and pastries right when you walk in. I go the baklava croissant and bread pudding, both were amazing, but I highly recommend the bread pudding and say yes when they ask you to heat it up. We shared the fish plate getting octopus, white fish, gravlax salmon, pastrami salmon, and salmon belly. I would say its necessary to get a side of the everything bagel and scallion cream cheese. They give you marinated tomatoes, red onion, capers, soft boiled egg, tahini, and lemon on the side. The best was the salmon belly, gravlax, and octopus. For me the white fish was too hard and fishy. I want to come back to try their lunch sandwiches, but overall good experience and will be back soon.
Be the first to ReplyBusy on weekends but for obvious reasons.
This is a great west side vibes location with all the offers of a well stocked bakery and restaurant. Enjoy the flavors and the people.

Food is amazing but the logistics of the operation are sub par. Their line is chaos, and their system for bringing food to tables doesn't seem to work robustly. Two of the three times I came here I had to actively hunt down my order. The space and food are so amazing, just a couple tweaks to their flow and this would be a fantastic restaurant .

I only gave it a 4star because they are not dog friendly in spite of the big outdoor patio for diners. This is Venice- people have more dogs than children but oh well... I come here for their ham and cheese croissants to go. So flaky and the ham is delicious. Better get there early though cuz they ran out fast- it's that good! We used to come here for breakfast but stopped because of the dog rule thingee. The food is great though- lots of healthy choices even though there are a lot of carbs around. It is still my favorite place for baked goods and sourdough bread. Some people complain that it's expensive- just deal with that because they do take care of their employees.

This is the kind of place that stays popular cuz it looks cool, but the photo I posted is what they'll give you after waiting in an outrageous line and asking for an "Italian." It's not just this one either, Google image search their sandwiches- they'll put a slice of ham on bread with a quarter-inch thick slice of tomato, charge you $20+ and you'll be sad. "Sopressata, mortadella, ham", absolute joke. With that said, my girlfriend sent me a build-your-own sandwich and she added everything I love to it. Delicious, but it was a $46 sandwich.

I brought my daughter to experience the deliciousness of Gjusta. Excellent service, perfect cappuccino and the tastiest pastries in town all made for a wonderful morning spent catching up. The patio has the best ambiance and is well mannered-pup friendly.

I absolutely loved this place! the food and atmosphere were amazing! Will be back. Service was also great!
Be the first to ReplyIs it expensive? Yes.
Is the service often garbage and slow? Yes. But does it taste really good and make you sad how it is actually worth it? Yes as well sadly. It's just really good food where you put up with the other BS.
Be the first to ReplyFood is mediocre.
Service is bad, bad. The number pulling thing is too cumbersome and people have to reach over and around you if you're near the number dispenser. Ordered a sandwich without mayo, sandwich was served with extra mayo. Ordered 14 dollar fries, they never came even after asking for them 3 separate times. Grabbing a table is a crapshoot, you could get stuck with food and no table to eat at.
