Not sure if we’ll go back a third time
Second time there. Enjoyed it the first time. Good food, good service. This second time, however, it took 45 for them to bring out to goat curry, long after we had finished our other dishes. We had an event to attend and let them know. Instead of canceling it, they made us wait for it, then we had to wait for them to put it in a take-home container. Instead of putting the chips in a separate container, they put it all in one in layers so when we were going to eat it the next day, it was a lumpy indistinguishable mess. The other dishes tasted good, but that was a bad decision on their part. Scallops, chicken, chickpea fritters, bbq pork belly, were all very good. AND BTW THEY ADD A 4% SURCHARGE TO THE FINAL BILL IN VERY TINY PRINT AT THE BOTTOM OF THE MENU. Seriously people, just go up a bit on your prices. That is crappy.
Be the first to ReplyVery nice dinner and evening
We enjoyed our night out for dinner at the Girl and the Goat. Our small plates were delicious. The ambience, atmosphere, food and service were all superior. We sat inside the restaurant but there is seating outside too, on two separate patio areas. A great place to celebrate a special occasion or have a special dinner.
Be the first to ReplyOne of LA’s Best!!!
We celebrated our 32nd anniversary during our recent staycation in DTLA. Of all the great restaurants to choose from, we loved the hype & vibe which Girl & the Goat had been receiving on Google & Yelp, and quickly made reservations. We couldn’t have been more impressed with the food, service, ambiance we experienced. We were waited on by Freddie, and he was the BEST! He made us feel like we were VIP’s despite probably having 7+ other tables he was also responsible for. Freddie brought us champagne to kick off our night, then after taking our order, he spaced out all our dishes so we never felt overloaded with food nor rushed to eat, and all our food remained both fresh & hot. His food recommendations were also spot on! This restaurant is busy and can get loud but thankfully, we were seated in a corner section which wasn’t as noisy as it would’ve been had we been in the center of their dining room or near their bar. All dishes ordered were off the chart delicious, but the stars of the show for us were the Goat Curry, Roasted Beet Salad, and Sautéed Green Beans! You HAVE to order their Naan & Dips and especially their Sautéed Green Beans!!! They’re so good! You’ll be talking about them after you’ve long left the restaurant. Freddie wasn’t the only outstanding member we wanted to compliment; Yari, one of their managers came to greet us on our special day as well. She made sure we were enjoying our dinner, and stopped by a few times to check in with us, gave us her card since we want to return to do their Saturday brunch one day. Yari & Freddie seemed like they truly love being there, not just because it’s their job or something they’re naturally good at it. We were so full, we probably brought the same if not more food back to our hotel as we ate in the restaurant. Oh, and when each dish was brought out, we loved how the person bringing it explained in detail which sauces were what, or a particular dish is best eaten this way, so that we could best experience the dish the way the chef desired it to be eaten. We couldn’t have selected a better restaurant to celebrate our special day. If you’re looking to dine somewhere in the Arts District, or even in LA’s downtown area, we can’t recommend Girl & the Goat enough! You won’t be disappointed…
Be the first to ReplyIncentive, delicious meal
New American restaurant that started in Chicago with a heavy South Asian influence. Came here for dinner with my family on a Sunday evening and made a reservation online in advance. Street parking. There’s a paid parking garage on the same block. Credit cards accepted. We sat indoors and there’s some bar seating as well. Our waitress was very friendly and the ambiance was chill. It’s family style, so we split five dishes among the four of us and that was a good amount. We got the following: Shishito peppers: dusted in Parmesan cheese, these were a good light snack Chickpea fritters: crunchy and a fun starter Goat curry: my dad’s favorite - plenty of coconut in the sauce and the meat was so tender. By some witchcraft, the crunchy bits in the curry still stayed crunchy the entire meal Goat belly confit: my sister’s pick - this came with beans and crunchy rice; portion size was on the smaller side Sticky glaze pork shank: my favorite - the presentation was cute and it came with two sauces. The meat was fall off the bone tender and they provided both lettuce and naan Mango sticky rice: my mom loved this dessert. It came with watermelon granita and was like a marshmallowy cloud of light sweetness. I liked the tamarind ice cream as well.

Girl and the Goat exceeded our expectations this evening. It’s a visually attractive restaurant, but the employees and food make this a true experience! Our server, Johnny, is personable and knowledgeable. He pleasant without being overbearing. Our food selections were delicious. The food is fresh, creative, and vegetable-centric instead of the usual “carb centric”. Johnny suggested we share 3-4 dishes which was perfect. We tried the naan with dips, beet salad, green beans, and skirt steak. Oh my goodness! Delicious! We finished by splitting the house made picnic ice cream with house made caramel sauce. It’s was apple crisp flavor without the apples. What a delight! Thank you everyone at Girl and the Goat for creating a beautiful dining experience!

Delicious food not seen on most menus, and excellent service. We especially liked the goat liver moose and goat shank. Nice drink pour.

An explosion of flavors and ingredients that shouldn't be good together but surprisingly are. Corn with coconut caramel? Shrimp with strawberries and picked veggies? Believe it or not, they mesh perfectly. The menu is creative and new, offering a combination of flavors that I had never imagined. The same goes for the cocktails and desserts. Clever concoctions that make you want to try every drink and sweet on the menu. Ambience is great. You can dine inside and appreciate the quirky art, dine at the bar, or done outside in the beautiful Los Angeles weather. It's hard to recommend just a few things so I recommend doing family style with your group so you get a taste of everything.
Be the first to ReplyFun Food. Eclectic Place.
Four of us tried their Dine In LA menu, which was a good sample of their popular dishes. The cocktails were delicious, and the music and atmosphere were eclectic. Our food was very good, and we’ll visit again.
Be the first to ReplyA great brunch experience
Made a reservation as soon as available 30 days in advance only. Ny wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the creative dishes and tasty drinks. Looks wonderful and feels comfortable atmosphere
Be the first to ReplyToo much salt
We have been here several times the the food was great. Today, not so much. Everything was oversalted - to the point that all 4 of us didnt finish any of the dishes. You can do better chefs!!!!!
Be the first to ReplyUnique and flavorful - but don't ask for any substitutions
Girl and the Goat has a beautiful space with good ambience. They have several different dining areas and they are all beautiful and comfortable. There is a $10 parking structure just around the corner. The food was good. Everything we tried, was interesting and unique. Of course, all of my pictures were lost due to a phone glitch, so you'll have to trust me! If I had to be picky, I would say that because everything comes with a sauce, after a while, your plate become a mish mosh of different sauces and it's a bit overwhelming. The food is meant to be shared, so it comes out at random times. This is only a problem when the people at the table have different tastes. We tried to each get our own entree and share some appetizers but it really came out unevenly, so it's best to try and pick things everyone likes. They have a good wine list and were very helpful in helping me choose one I liked since I was unfamiliar with them all. The wait staff is attentive, although they look like they just walked in off the street in grungy sweats, jeans etc. Our waitress looked fine but I saw some others that I wasn't even sure worked there based on how they were dressed. My 1 complaint was that there are NO substitutions. We had one person with us on a very strict diet due to a health condition and they would not make any concessions as to putting a sauce on the side or ordering something plain a la carte. We were told the food is "chef driven" so therefore nothing can be changed. I do understand that if many changes are made, the dish will not taste the same and may be a misrepresentation of the cuisine but in this day and age, some concession or offering something plain and simple on the menu seems like an appropriate thing to do. Overall, I would recommend you give it a try. If I go out, I like to have things that are either time consuming to make at home or just too complicated. This is that type of food. Fun to try some interesting new dishes. The ones we liked best were the flatbread with dipping sauces and the chicken skewers.

Amazing restaurant. Food and service both exceptional. Everything was amazing. All the dishes were one of a kind.
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding food and service
Attended a special event here for about 200 people, and it was amazing. Appetizers were served, along with drinks before dinner. My favorite item of the whole evening were the chicken skewers appetizer. The most moist and flavorful chicken I think I have ever had. There was also a little corn on the cob thing that was not worth the trouble. Tried the Bee's Knees cocktail, which was delicious, with plenty of alcohol. Husband had a bourbon-based cocktail, the Goat Fashioned, that was also excellent. The dinner included about 12!! courses so we got to taste a lot of their offerings. Excellent naan with two interesting dips. Shrimp & crispy green salad had a lot of shrimp in it and was very flavorful. Lots of wonderful tastes. Roasted beets were good. Chickpea fritters definitely not my favorite, but everyone else seemed to enjoy them. Same with sauteed green beans. I didn't like the sauce, but everyone else did. Spiced king fish very tasty. My favorite was the braised crispy lamb - done to perfection. Desserts were good, but I was so full I only tried a spoonful of each. Restaurant is cavernous, yet the service was excellent. The dinner also included wine pairings, which were very good. Definitely a place to visit if you are in downtown L.A.
Be the first to ReplyTaste sensation
My husband and I spent a week in LA to visit our daughter and her husband and we had dinner at Girl & the Goat one evening. We all knew it by reputation and were eager to try it. We were not disappointed. Our server gave us excellent advice about the food and was attentive and charming. The sommelier suggested a terrific bottle of wine that perfectly complemented the dishes we tried. Since we were 4 we ordered a variety of plates to share and savored every one. Not a single miss. If they're offering the goat carpaccio when you visit, don't hesitate, it's sublime! The decor is sleek and modern, the room is very lively, but we didn't find it difficult to carry on a conversation. Overall a wonderful experience that we'd love to repeat when we're next in town.
Be the first to ReplyArrogant and rude
The hostesses at the restaurant were arrogant and rude. They set the tone for the whole evening. The food is decent and the restaurant is attractive. However, there is nothing worse than being made to feel, as a customer, that you should be grateful for being at a restaurant. There are few if any eateries good enough to have that level of arrogance and this one is certainly not one of them. I will not be going back.

Ate our way through the menu with a group and every dish was a winner. Especially memorable were the branzino and goat. Lovely cocktails and wine. Can’t wait to return
Be the first to ReplyAn experience worth the celebration.
We at here with a large party on a school night. The place was busy. Service was on point all night. The atmosphere is buzzing. The food was very, very, very good. We had appetizers, most of the main dishes at our table. Everyone loved the experience. We tried several of the appetizers and starters and and old fave was the Naan and Dips. The bread was so tasty but they served it with these flavored hummus that were just out of this world. We also had the Grilled corn which was equally outstanding. This restaurant is also family style so you share the entrees with the table. We shared the Grilled skirt Steak, and the Pork Shank. The pork shank was crispy and tender, incredibly flavorful. The skirt steak was cooked to perfection. It was just so tasty. We sat out on the patio. Our server was, of course, an aspiring actor. He was funny, and entertaining but still a fabulous server who expertly shepherded our dinner throughout the evening. He made fabulous recommendations (his name is Miles, ask for him) and he was so friendly and fun. I feel like he was as much a part of making the experience the best as the food. We ate here on a week night. Get a reservation cause the place was packed. You will not regret this meal.
Be the first to ReplyToo loud to enjoy ourselves.
Music was absurdly loud; we couldn't hear each other or our server. We asked them to turn it down, but they didn't. Had to wait for our table even though we had a reservation. Food was good, but expensive. We won't be back. This place is a nominee for the Over-rated restaurant hall of fame.
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful hip restaurant with outstanding food
This hip and happening restaurant in the red hot Arts District is justly famous and popular. The layout is beautiful with a large bar area and wonderful indoor and outdoor patio seating. The service is top-notch and the food is to die for. My only complaint is that our reservation was for 8:30 and they had run out of goat. We tried the sourdough bread, heirloom tomato salad, lamb satay, oysters and redfish. Every dish was exquisite and flavorful. My favorite was the fish. Highly recommend. Parking is valet but better to Uber.

different menu but great food. and a nice scene. its looks like there has been a lot of thought been put into the menu and the whole process of the restaurant.. they have not just thrown it in your face. its a proper passion
Be the first to ReplyLots of fun options, able to please wide variety of folks, nice space
We chose this restaurant because it wasn't your everyday standard breakfast, but it wasn't weird either. It seemed to provide a good variety for a group and we have had good luck in this neighborhood in the past. We made a reservation for 1030am on a Sunday about a week out. a later time that worked for us was not available. They were full when we left. We used the Valet, but there is a public lot next door as well. I believe the menu changes frequently, but I would guess the proteins for breakfast stay the same. The sausage was excellent, but in too many dishes and that took away from the variety that the menu (seems) to provide. The brunch potatoes are a must. They are just right. Decadent, sweet and salty. This was a total highlight. House maple sausage, if there is sausage in an of your dishes, you don't really need this. Could be a good choice for a light meal, take one home for dinner. Tasty, but unneeded. Spiced Apple Pancakes - a surprise must. The sounded good enough, but they were great. Great textures and flavors, the maple butter really was the right stuff to elevate this dish into special. Unlike other similar dishes, I would look for this again. ooey gooey cinnabon, yeah good but not crazy good. If sweets are a must maybe you need this. Nothing wrong with it, but nothing that makes it a must in my book. Everything crumpets with smoked salmon, this I enjoyed but I thought it was difficult to assemble given the space and plates and implements and large number of components which includes crumpets you need to slice open yourself. It's a share concept menu, but this was too difficult. Good for two not a crowd. This was very tasty though, but not in a way that would make me seek it again. paratha, not exactly what I thought it would be, but tasty none the less. A bit messy to share and divide with a group. Seemed a bit bland and or not tomato saucy enough. Again not at the heights I would have expected, but nothing is wrong or bad. Potato crepe was very tasty and full of texture. This would be very satisfying as a share meal for two or on your own. I count this one as a total win and a highlight. This Little Piggy - This didn't work for me. The biscuit was tough, I had grown tired of the sausage as there were so many flavors on the table. (less is more could be a strategy here) and together it wasn't enjoyable even with the tasty sauce with bright fresh berries. To me this one was sad. Sesame Ice Cream and Strawberry Gelato were both excellent and a bit different. They were nice to close out brunch. The strawberry was exceptional with really bright clean strawberry bursting in every spoon and leaving a clean refreshing echo on the palate. Our server was helpful professional and knew her menu. Staff were all polite and working to serve well. Better service than I am getting in most restaurants of this caliber right now. Overall prices are high. Ambience and variety are great, Food is very good on average with stand out dishes and not much that misses the mark. I would return, but I would try dinner. The bar is worth exploring.
Be the first to Replymemorable small plates, helpful and caring service
Fabulous creative food, excellent drink and wine pairings. Service is first class - attentive and with helpful recommendations. Cool atmosphere indoors or on the lovely patio. Worth trying a variety of small plates - especially the signature string beans, also roasted oysters.
