Great Service and experience
Folly exceeds expectations on every level with an exceptional dining experience. Highly recommended for anyone seeking culinary perfection and service, Their manager Mario was super alert and went above and beyond to accommodate our needs. Thanks alot!

Folly is always a personal favourite Dining spot in the Madinat. Every time I go for food or drinks the service is exceptional especially Mario who is the manager. I've been invited for many amazing tasting experiences and can't recommend the food or atmosphere enough.

Checking off another restaurant from my bucket list. Folly is located in the bustling Madinat Jumeirah which, to be honest, is a little too busy with visitors. Once you get into the venue, most of the noises dissipate and youโll have the seatings areas of indoor, terrace, or rooftop bar. The view on rooftop bar is immaculate. Lovely terrace, and a rather simplistic but comfortable interior. Surprisingly small semi-open kitchen inside the restaurant. A very warm welcome by the hostess, something which is always appreciated. Obviously the degustation menu would be the first choice for me. Three canapรฉs to start with: king crab tart with cucumber gel, pastry stuffed with veal tartare, pastry with truffle on top. All were very pleasant. First starter was seared scallop with pumpkin, sea asparagus, sea grape, and caviar. Beautiful sear and perfect doneness on the scallop, well balanced flavours. Second starter was what spiked my interest in the first place, as it was the cover photo of Folly on Michelin Guide. Zucchini, Tunworth cheese, watercress, black garlic. Gorgeous presentation, light, fresh, and delicious. I always love a beautiful plating. Fish main was halibut, fennel, green olive, Buddhaโs hand. Rather less memorable compared to the other dishes, largely because of the inherent difficulty of finding high quality halibut from suppliers in Dubai in general. Everything else on the plate tasted great, though. Loved the banana shallot. Meat main was sirloin, leek, lentil, capsicum, beef fat custard, and brioche. Fabulous dish. Didnโt get a chance to take a photo before the sauce was poured but the circle of capsicum purรฉe was a fantastic touch of aesthetic. Lovely tuile, rich and hearty brioche, wonderful seasoning in every component of the dish. This to me is one of those dishes that encapsulate the idea of Michelin Guide. Pre-dessert was a parfait with raspberry and lime. Not the most memorable pre-dessert ever, but it does the job. The lime gel was surprisingly light: I imagined it to be much more acidic. Very nice touch. Dessert was chocolate with tonka bean ice cream, almond brittle. Not my favourite. I guess chocolate-based desserts have never really been my preferred style. Nice mignardises as well. Although I found one thing slightly incongruous: the chocolate truffle was tiny. The tartelette with meringue was moderately sized. The mignardise in the middle was comically large compared to the chocolate truffle which was next to it. It just didnโt look very appealing. But as you can certainly tell, Iโm a picky person when it comes to culinary aesthetics. Would recommend Folly to people in a heartbeat. Good value in terms of menu price against quality of food, lovely view on terrace, and the option of a kitchen-counter degustation menu with wine pairing. A very high spot on Dubaiโs Michelin Guide in my opinion.

The place is beautiful and the views are stunning, complimented by an outstanding dining experience and the staff including the management were faultless. I have lived in Dubai for 8 years and its the go to restaurant for all of my visitors.

A beautiful bar and restaurant in a great location with great views of the Burj Al Arab. Food was high quality and delicious, a wide range of dishes which suited everyone in our large group. The service was excellent throughout and the staff could not have been more welcoming. Would highly recommend.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic views from the rooftop bar
Called in for drinks one evening and sat on the rooftop bar (make your sat to the very top, donโt stop half way) Service very good and drinks reasonably priced (for location) - they also have a happy hour (5-7 I think) with cocktails at 30aed Would recommend
Be the first to ReplyHuge disappointment
I had booked here for brunch on January 1st on their rooftop with extremely high expectations given that the owners worked for Gordon Ramsey and given that they put a lot of emphasis on the fact that their cuisine is creative, modern and informal... but it was a real disappointment. Brunch started at 3pm (already here, a slightly unusual time for a brunch); the courses were absolutely not a mix of breakfast and lunch (another anomaly) but the menu was one that could easily be served for a lunch or dinner...as if that wasn't enough, everything was served at the table (so no small buffet, another thing that's a bit anomalous for a brunch) but the most absurd thing was that the 3 courses were served an hour apart from each other, from 3pm to 6pm, one course every hour: I understand that they wanted to create an atmosphere relaxed and convivial, for a cheerful lunch with family or friends, but the service time was extended to truly ridiculous levels. Plus the portions were absolutely RIDICULOUS. I have eaten in starred restaurants again, I am perfectly aware that you pay for the quality, the imaginative combination, the explosion of flavours, but these were a taste, not a portion, even for a restaurant of this calibre. I wouldn't go back. Not even for the sight or the environment.

Everything just compliments. From the greetings when you arrive to the service team, to the view and the amazing food and best selection of drinks. Visited this place recently and I must say, we had an amazing time. I highly commend the service and culinary team. Thank you Bianka for the invite and making sure that all is well taken cared off specially your wine recommendations are the best!

Nothing beats the romantic charm of Follyโs rooftop terrace! One of the best scenic views I have ever seen in Dubai. Whether it be for drinks, food or great company, Folly is a definite place to be. From the Manager, to the staff and the chef - everyone ensures you are taken care of at all times! Thank you so much Bianka Manihayme for bring us to Folly and giving us the best experience! A beautiful and professional young lady! See you again Folly!
Be the first to ReplyChristmas eve brunch and greedy approach
Pros Fantastic food but thatโs all about it. Hats off to their chefs their food is out of this world. Taste and presentation is top notch. They are the only reason why this restaurant carries their legacy. Cons Disaster service. They squeezed us into a table literally in the middle of their bar and service operation despite we booked our table 2 weeks in advance and paid a deposit to secure. When we shared our disappointment with the table allocation, the answer we heard was thatโs how it is and we should have mentioned that we wanted a corner/sofa table even without the phone operator mentioning these specifics. No solutions whatsoever offered. Out of 11 tables, ours was the only one in the middle of their service and logistic route. We have been forced to stay on a table we didnโt feel comfortable at. Management of Gate Hospitality needed to understand that they do not need to squeeze a table by being greedy, instead, to ensure all their guests are comfortable. They are lucky to have such culinary delicacy to cover their service inefficiency. We had guests and so excited to take them to folly but we regret at the end. So called manager hiding behind the kitchen and 0 interactions with the guests to ensure their services are wel provided.

So we came to this restaurant and we really enjoyed! The all people are so nice and kind. The food is the best around Dubai! We had a good time. One life experience! Amazing service. I donโt remember the name of the waitress but she so nice and careful! She explained to me everything and she is amazing! Thank you so much๐

We had a really nice time! Drinks were good, food was amazing and delicious! Our server was Bianca, she was really nice & always had a smile (beneath the mask ๐). Overall a good place to catch up with the ladies!
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing happy hour advertisement but great views!
Folly is a great place to go for drinks due to the beautiful rooftop view of the palm. It was slightly disappointing that we went for happy hour drinks (as advertised on an app) to be told the happy hour had finished 4 hours earlier. Even after showing the staff the advert they did not honour the app. However, I have been to Folly many times and it is usually a wonderful experience.
Be the first to ReplyAt the bar the service is so so bad!
At the top they have a lovely and charming bar that we love to go yet, the staff has a weird vibe and attitude. The terrace closes at 12:00 and by 10:00 the staff is already asking and implying for you to leave. They put the music incredibly low and start cleaning next to you!! this is so rude! NEVER COMING BACK!
Be the first to ReplyA perfect dinner with fab staffs
This is absolutely a fantastic restaurant with the beautiful view from both Terrance and rooftop, dinning here was such a great experience. Unsurprisingly, the 5courses menu were also amazing and all the staffs here were enthusiastic and professional. And I would like to mention our fantastic staff ALEX, who has been so thoughtful and showed his professions on servicing. We had a really great night here and I would say Alex had made our wonderful experience better. Definitely will come back again and try other dishes!
Be the first to ReplyHidden gem in plain sight!
I took my family (mid-lifers, young adults, a teenager and a child) to Folly for dinner and just loved it! Despite itโs location at the Madinat, it felt like a hidden gem tucked away in a nicely lit corner, with a lovely balcony. With so many of us, we opted for the set menu, which was great value and everyone enjoyed their food. The drinks menu is really interesting and if I hadnโt be designated driver, Iโd have enjoyed trying some of the cocktails. The staff were super helpful too. Really like this place, will go back!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent ladies day
Ate here on ladies night. Great food and service - excellent value in a lovely setting. Staff were the most engaging since been in Dubai and made the dining experience even better - thanks for a great night
Be the first to ReplyFantastic dinner at Folly
My husband and I had a wonderful dinner at Folly with our friends. We had high expectations, as we'd previously dined at Nick and Scott's Table 21 before it closed and loved it, and we were not disappointed, Folly was just as excellent! The location is great, with a nice atmosphere particularly on the outdoor terrace, and great views over Madinat Jumeirah. The service was attentive, friendly and very welcoming, and the servers were great at making recommendations and explaining the dishes to us to help us decide what to order. And the food was fantastic, highlights for me were the crispy hens egg with pancetta and maple syrup which was a yummy combination of sweet and salted flavours with a perfectly cooked egg, and the confit veal belly which was meltingly tender with a good fat to meat ratio, and completed beautifully with a tangy sweet and sour sauce. My favourite dish of the night had to be dessert though, the peanut butter, cocoa and caramel (enthusiastically recommended by one of our servers) was absolutely divine. Though portions seem small they were enough to fill us up, especially with the lovely complimentary bread at the start of the meal and the option to add side dishes. We'll definitely be back again on our next trip to Dubai, I only wish we lived there so I could visit regularly!

Food, service and the atmosphere was exceptional. The monkfish starter was a must have. Nice portion size and modern flavours and presentation. Each dish offered something new and different. If youโre a foodie this place is for you.
Be the first to ReplyThe BEST service, food and views in Dubai!
We booked Folly for our wedding celebration for 40 guests (March). Having already got married the day prior, we designed our own day by offering a brunch, followed by live entertainment with a group of family and friends. The staff at Folly, especially George, were so attentive from start to finish. The food was complimented by everyone as some of the best theyโve ever had (and thatโs from people who dine in high end places around the world) and the place itself was absolutely perfect, both indoors and on the rooftop. We couldnโt have wished for a better day and itโs with thanks to all the staff that made this one to remember! Thank you so much, we canโt wait to return and reminisce - you went above and beyond and we are so grateful!
Be the first to ReplyNot great, many better places to eat in Dubai
I have been fortunate to have visisted Dubai over 25 times in the past 7 years with work and some holidays. My last holiday was start of March and i wanted to find some new places to try hence booked the Folly.
I think my views are balanced as I have tried many restaurants in Dubai over the years...
The Folly is a bit marmite, ive seen great reviews and poor reviews and I now know why. The entrance is not a 'secret' pathway, its a staircase off the shopping mall...
The meet and greet upstairs was moody, not very friendly at all and didnt seem to want to be working that night. We were shown to a table that was outside but next to the bar and not in the area that is shown in the pcitures. I thought i would be walking into a cool themed set up based on the photos but where we sat was plain brown table with a boring rail overlooking the medinat canal. All the style etc was round the corner... so I cannot comment if that worked as where we sat clearly didnt.
The menu is known to be a taster and yes the portions are small but they do fill you up. We didnt really like everything we had (menu is quite limited in choices) but knew what we walking into menu wise when we booked. The drinks were okay, nothing special.
The service was poor until we had our assigned waiter, he was superb and helpful, but took a while to get assigned one.
The prices are on the higher end and they are trying to be a unique place, but it falls short compared to many other choices out there. We had an average experience but ive listed as poor based on the initial welcome and service and where we sat (that was nothing better than pizzahut lol)
We did take a look at the upstairs terrace after our meal but they wouldnt let us transfer our bill up there so I didnt stay and buy any more drinks (they did let others do this so why we were treated differently i do not know)
Cannot say it is worth a visit. There are many far better options on their doorstep and further afield in Dubai at these prices so I suggest avoiding based on our experience.
Beautiful surprise
Exquisite food and very friendly staff. The location is pretty, with a view on the canal and itโs not crowded.
The menu offers a lot of creative dishes, and it is not boring at all!
Close to hitting the mark.
We visited this restaurant on a Tuesday evening and started with some happy hour gins on the roof terrace followed by the tasting menu for dinner. The overall experience was positive and is a good balance of value and quality.
It is easy to see the direction that this restaurant is going in and Dubai desperately needs more of this type that provides care and attention to food and service without the hotel price tag.
However, whilst the main ingredients in the dishes were cooked beautifully (for example the lamb), unfortunately the dishes were slightly spoiled by overpowering sauces and became too rich and over-seasoned. It seems as though they may be trying too hard with the dishes, in actual fact they could rely on the core ingredients which were superbly cooked.
We were incredibly well looked after by Alex throughout the evening and appreciate that the staff welcomed feedback before we left so we had the opportunity to share this in person.
Faultless Folly
Had their tasting menu with wine pairings which was a fascinating romp designed to show off their culinary skills. A brilliant evening on their terrace gazing out to sea at Souk Madinat. By Dubai standards the best balance of price/quality we had on our short trip - you will definitely pay more for less assured cooking elsewhere.
