Ambience was top-notch and the service did not disappoint.

Food was great! Caesar salad, steamed vegetables, side salad and fries. Thank you!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent dining.
It was quite a surprise for a hotel restaurant. There was a wide selection on the menu and a wide range of wines by both bottle and by glass. My wife and I enjoyed the their cauliflower steak so much we came back a second time and both ordered it.

Food was excellent, fresh, served well with attentive service. It was such a pleasure to have such a fine meal after a long haul flight and have it be steps away. I highly recommend it. Great water views from almost all seating.
Be the first to ReplyThe clams with spaghetti in XO sauce is excellent.
I would order it again. The only thing is the portions were small.
Be the first to ReplyI enjoyed dining here on a recent visit to Auckland.
I stayed in the hotel (Hilton Auckland) and really made the most of the lovely atmosphere and views at this restaurant. The menu has a range of offerings, so it would suit most tastes. The service is very good, with staff being consistently friendly, approachable and responsive but not intrusive. The dishes I chose were marvellous - Trevally Sashimi, which was nicely served and beautifully tender. I then enjoyed Pan Fried Salmon - again, it was delicious - very nicely cooked and presented, with pea/mint coulis and goats cheese gnocchi croquettes. How divine! I chose "Wooing Tree" Rose wine from Central Otago (NZ), which accompanied the dishes perfectly. I will definitely come here again on my next visit to Auckland.

Fish restaurant truly has a spectacular jentacular! I've tried everything in their plentiful armamentarium from New Zealand honey & nz jams to congee, lentil curry, even the feijoa drink (local fruit that tastes like pear). I told the food & beverage manager I was going to take a video of all the morning's offerings today (see Weds video below) but selections do change up daily. For instance there will be broiled tomatoes & the next days it was replaced with oatmeal with milk or bacon wrapped quiche, or roasted potatoes. There are the usual scrambled eggs, chicken sausage, crispy bacon, hash browns in large dutch ovens. Lox, sliced meats, salad, dried fruits, rice pudding, birchen muesli was also among the regular offerings. Bread in all types was plentiful with rolls, croissants, and various loaves to slice with a bread knife. A myriad of nutella, butter, margarine, jellies, & jam toppings were in abundance. Fresh fruit like watermelon, oranges, pineapple, or cantaloupe was sliced but also whole mandarins, bananas, pears, & apples are available in wood crates. The servers, many whom are going to school for hotel management or tourism / hospitality did a last call for food, too. Every table has a pretty water view & some have the sun beating down on you (not necessarily bad) but NZ was mostly misty or overcast in the morning. The buffet has filtered coffee as well as french press which despite using the same coffee, has a different taste. Do you have a preference?

Ironically, this is the same place we would have breakfast in our hotel. I just thought it was going to be a mid of the run type joint. After a long day of being out and about as a tourist, we decided to stay in and have dinner at the hotel.Upon entering it was a major transformation from breakfast. it had a high end restaurant feel with outstanding service. Cary R had the crayfish Mac and cheese, which was delicious and if I didn't know would accept with slight disbelief it was lobster. I had the bouillabaisse and I have to say it was outstanding. Broth was rich and flavorful all fish was cooked the hot bright was poured over the seafood at the table. I highly recommend this place if you're in town.

After a long day out at the Hobbiton movie set we were exhausted and hungry. We decided out of convenience to head downstairs in our hotel to Fish just 2 floors down from us. Holy amazing best decision ever! This was the best meal we had in NZ. A great restaurant with a great view of the harbor. They quickly took our order and asked "if we would like some bread" we said sure. We then received a complimentary tasting from the chef duck liver. I was not a fan at all but I tried it hahah! We had bouillabaisse and cray fish truffle Mac and cheese both dishes amazing!!!!!! Only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 was because we were charged for the bread. I've been in situations like this in the past example Rome but in Auckland this never occurred in any restaurant so it was unexpected and not appreciated!
Be the first to ReplyGreat restaurant for a hotel.
We walked all around the harbor and could not find a restaurant we wanted to stop in at. Nothing looked great and we were looking for great. So settled for Fish in the Hilton we were staying at. Great choice, as the harbor view was excellent and so was the food and service. Some of the best fresh oysters we ever ate but then found that most of the restaurants in NZ have great oysters. I had the duck and everything was cooked perfect. A little pricy but it was an excellent location and with the exchange rate it was well worth the cost of dinner.
Be the first to ReplyLovely location and splendid food with excellent service.
Make it your business to check this place out. This place is aptly named - the fish is divine. We began with warm sourdough bread with whipped brown butter. The salt on the brown butter was an unexpected touch that added a bit of punch to relatively simple starter. Next came the fish! Both the whole snapper and Toothfish were perfect. The only downside to the meal was dessert. The crack pie was a bit boring and the glazed pear was good but not exceptional.

Great food, ambience, and service! Located in the Hilton, it overlooks the water and harbor. I had the tooth fish which was delicious and my wife had the crab bisque which was equally great. The restaurant and hotel are trendy with a nautical maritime theme, and the servers and hosts are very friendly and accommodating.

We had Banana prawn and salmon and both of them were over oily. The cauliflower were over burnt. And too expensive for such a small size of dish. The environment here is not bad anyway.
Be the first to ReplyJetlag, hungry, and lazy we headed here for lunch.
Located inside the Hilton hotel, we found it on the second floor. What a treat! The relaxing seaside view from the patio dining made the wait for food so much more enjoyable. We had their beef steak with mushroom and lamb cut with roasted potatoes and garden salad. It was pretty darn good but my beef a bit tough..maybe cause I had it done medium well. The salad had fresh buttermilk which was a bit lacking in taste but delicious nonetheless. The hospitality 4 stars for sure. We even got a free sampler of salmon ceviche to boot! It's a bit pricey but the portions, hospitality, and view make it a tourist must.
