Best dinner in Charleston and beyond
The food and service were both the best I've had in a very long time. We had three appetizers (four guests), and four entrees and all were wonderful. Our appetizers included Shrimp&radicchio salad, Gnocchi, Chicken Liver Pate - all delicious. Our entrees included mustard crusted swordfish, bouillabaisse, and grouper. Each was excellent. The sommelier helped us select a great chenin blanc - all around 5 stars.

What a fantastic dining experience! The food, the service, the ambience. Morgan and Bobby go out of their way to make your night terrific. The menu changes daily and everything is delicious. So good that we went twice in a row! You definitely will not be disappointed. We are looking forward to our next visit.

I ate at Fig when it opened and was thrilled to get reservations last night. We had a fabulous meal. We had Beet/Homemade cottage cheese on brown bread, Gnocchi, and fried duck salad for appetizers. The salad was out of this world and though, usually, I'm not too fond of Gnocchi, this was delicious. I ordered the Tilefish which was wonderfully fresh, but a bit salty. We also had the Truffle Potatoes which were addicting - truly. We finished with a sticky sorghum toffee and amaretto ice cream that was spectacular. Thankfully, my husband and I split this as we were stuffed. All the hype about Fig is well-deserved! If you can get reservations, do it!

The treat of treats. This dinner with my husband and sister was the most delicious fare I have ever eaten. Along with the finely prepared choices was the terrific wait staff. We were tourists in Charleston and came across FIG on one of our walks. We got there at 5:00 pm and were lucky to get seats at the bar. From there we were delighted with dish after dish, good wine, and excellent dessert. The menu changes often. Don’t worry. No matter what you order you will be delighted.

We ate at Fig at the recommendation of a chef from our hometown of Baltimore and it did not disappoint! Our server, Bobby, was very helpful and made excellent recommendations for both food and wine. All of our dishes were perfection and the wine paired perfectly. Highly recommend!

the place was great in all aspects. we sat at the bar and had a reallt good time - good food, good drinks, the bar tenders were very attentive. we had the gnocchi and boulebaisse. dessert was god as well. highly recommended

Solid service and a very good meal. The snapper app needs some work - the fish is fresh, but the dish’s muted presentation matched its uninteresting flavors. The bouillabaisse, on the other hand, was excellent!

Food was great! Server was distracted by her other tables. Expected better service and a description of the food.

When I dine at a really good restaurant, I'm reminded of Sherlock Holmes's comment on the quality of a portrait, stating, "I know what is good when I see it". That, plainly, is how I felt after our dinner at FIG. It was Friday evening. Because the next available reservations were a month away, we decided to linger around the front door of the restaurant, starting 15 minutes before it opened at 5:00 p.m., guessing that they might have a spot at the bar. We were soon joined by at least 13 other people who were thinking the same. We were invited in at 5:00 and offered a place at the bar or the communal table. We chose the table and ended up sharing dinner with five of the best dinner compatriots, all excited about enjoying a wonderful dinner! My selection of the Bouillabaisse was delightful. My wife, a light eater, chose the Roasted Porchetta Tonnato, and we shared the Yukon Gold Potato Purée. We ended with the Sticky Sorghum Pudding for dessert with Slow Motion Guatemala coffee. Many compliments to the chef that evening, Mike Lata, and our waiter, John, who made a great dinner even better.

We really looked forward to eating here and were not disappointed. Excellet food. In particular was the tomato tart, very delicious. The burnt eggplant and cottage cheese was an interesting dish. The desserts were stellar. Perfectly made panna cotta and the sticky sorghum pudding, god, how great is that! Have had multiple variations of it such as sticky toffee but this IS the best version I have ever tasted, don't miss it. We also tried the chocolate budino. I couldn't wait because this is my all time favorite dessert. However, it didn't measure up ( the standard is at Flour and Water), was more like pudding.

Highly overrated. Good atmosphere although nothing special. The service was average to poor. Had to wait way too long for drinks. Ordered another drink before the entree was served and they didn’t bring it until after the entree. The food was bland, boring, and pretentious. This restaurant is a “must hit” by reputation, but was very disappointed. There are so many better spots in Charleston.

The food at FIG is delicious! We sat at the bar on a weeknight for our dinner as we had not made a reservation. The bartenders make great cocktails of the proper size and are attentive and very professional. The crudo appetizer was the best I've had. While the portions are not large, the flavors pop so much that the entrees are more than satisfying. FIG is not for those on a budget... and i suggest you make reservations way in advance. If you enjoy good food you should eat here!

We had a great meal. Food - especially the bouillabaisse- was tasty. Wine list varied and interesting. Staff attentive and accommodating.

My best friend and I live on opposite coasts and decoded on Charleston for our recent girls weekend. I did a lot of research for our dining plans and FIG exceeded our expectations. Warm and cozy atmosphere and we were promptly seated at an adorable booth with our attentive server Corinne. She keep our wine glasses and our bellies full! The gnocchi lived up to the hype but the pimento oysters top ten bites of food ever. We devoured and quickly ordered another order. I’m dreaming about them. Broth could have been hotter and more variety than mostly shrimp bouillabaisse for entree, but still a perfect first dinner in our new favorite place.

This restaurant provides a wonderful dining experience. Although you must reserve a table well in advance, it is worth it. Our server, Samantha, was very gracious and helpful in every way. Each dish we ordered was delicious.

This was the best meal we had in Charleston and the one I will for sure hit again on another visit. Delicious, creative food and fantastic service. Both Bobby and Sam took great care of us between wine and food selections. The gnocchi and the broiled oyster apps were out of this world, and the more delicate scallop entree was a beautiful balance to it. I will dream about this meal.

We are locals and dine out regularly, often trying new restaurants. FIG has be3n one of our favorites for the last 20 years. This is one of the best restaurants in Charleston and that is a mighty big compliment since there are so many good restaurants in this charming city. FIG, as a farm to table original, has survived the test of time with inventive menus, star quality ingredients and perfect plating. New menus daily according to what’s fresh and in season. Service is excellent and the noise level is low enough for pleasant conversation and undisturbed dining. Very well curated wine list and a reasonable number of beers, many from local breweries. Prices are high but not extraordinary for downtown Charleston. Reservations required and you better plan at least two to three weeks in advance. If triggerfish or wreckfish is on the menu that night, get it. You won’t be disappointed. We give this restaurant a rare compliment: five clams on the coveted Five Quahog Rating Scale.

2 years ago this was one of the best restaurant experiences ever! We had looked forward to coming back and eagerly booked 4 weeks in advance as required. This visit not so great. I remember before the perfection of the customer service. We had none of that this visit. Our table was not ready and we were briefly told to just wait by the side. We finally asked to order drinks while we waited and they took forever. We finally got them then our table was ready. We were sat and sat and sat and sat. No service. Finally a harried waitress came over and was quickly wanting to take our order. It felt like a fast serve restaurant. I wanted the fish stew/ cioppino I had 2 years ago. Fine she put it down. Hubby ordered the fish. We had no real explanation of anything other than she encouraged us to order an appetizer. Husbands dish came as a salad??! They said - the fish is underneath. Weird. My stew was not the same and was underwhelming. Whole experience so disappointing. We used to recommend this place but can’t after this. Too many good restaurants in Charleston for adequate service.

This place is a local gem. I don't believe many people would just happen by, but our hotel staff recommended it and boy are we glad they did. She even made reservations for us. You really need reservations because like I said it is a local gem. Our server, Bobby was the best. He even had the chef sign the menu for us. The food and atmosphere was absolutely wonderful. The presentation and taste of the food is extraordinaire. Highly, highly recommend this place.

We snagged two seats and had a delicious meal. Fish was tender, the dessert (apple tart with an almond cream) made us swoon.

We have been to many Charleston restaurants and this is definitely the best from the cocktails to the Sticky Toffee Pudding. The Tomato Tarte Tatin is not to miss. The portion sizes are small enough so that you can enjoy all three courses and not feel stuffed.

Was able to score a table later in the evening even if the place was already packed for a Tuesday night. The menu changes daily depending on what’s fresh for the day, but at the server’s recommendation, I decided to try two of their menu staples: chicken liver pâté and the gnocchi bolognese. Both were nothing short of delicious. The pâté was rich and creamy but does not overwhelm. The brioche and pickles it came with were just right. The gnocchi was light and fluffy and the sauce was perfection. If you find yourself in Charleston, you must try.

We had a late dinner after a show. Sometimes restaurants start to wind down at the end of the evening. Not here. Everything was hopping and first rate. The cocktails we started with, Co-Pilot and Flightless Bird, were both excellent. I chatted with the bartender and realized that one of them would be impossible to replicate at home. For appetizers we had the razor clams and the rice bowl rudder fish, both excellent. For mains we had the tilefish and the low country bourride. I’m usually not a fan of various forms of seafood stew. But this was a revelation. The chocolate budino was a wonderful ending. Again, wow!

Hard to choose my favorite thing about this restaurant - both the food and the service were exceptional! Set in an unassuming building in the heart of Charleston, Fig definitely lived up to its stellar reputation. Elizabeth, our server, was the perfect combination of competence and fun. The food- starting with the gnocchi appetizer, to the main courses of triggerfish and hanger steak, to the lime cream puffs for dessert - perfection! Reservations are not easy to get but SO worth the effort!

Corinne, our server, set the tone with her fun, upbeat service. She was a delight even though the restaurant was packed. We started with ricotta gnocchi which melt in your mouth and -wait for it-CLAMS+FRESH DUG POTAOTES.PESTO,POLE BEANS,SOURDOUGH. The latter was my favorite dish among the many I had at Charleston's top rated restaurants this trip. I was put off by the potato idea, but the ingredients proved flavorfully insane as a combination. In fact,I had a clam dish at another top restaurant the next night which was absolutely good. However, following on the heels of this crazy combo of flavors,I couldn't get off first base with it. You may not have the same reaction, but I loved the creativity of combining these ingredients,The broth was consumed down to the last drop. Next I had the pork tenderloin Milanese with pesto siciliano, argula and herbs. The portion was enormous and easily enough for two people , but not very flavorful. The arugula gave it much needed punch ,but the pesto siciliano did not carry the dish once the arugula was eaten. Still, this was one of my better meals at Fig and we will be back.
