This review is solely for the catering business, which was a huge hit! I placed an order for about 10 people. The website was very easy to use, and I spoke with someone at the restaurant about substituting one of the options in one of the larger catering packages, which was easily done. You will need your own serving utensils- there was an option to add utensils but not serving utensils. The order arrived on time (actually a few minutes early!) and delivery was a breeze. We ordered the Fed Favorites Family Pack, an additional side of chipotle green beans, banana pudding, and Oreo pudding. The food was hot and fresh when it arrived, and even dishes I didn't expect to travel very well- like the crispy brussels sprouts- ended up being perfect. The meat options were incredible, the sausage and brisket in particular were favorites. I was so glad to see the package included a pan of the incredible mac and cheese, anything less than a pan is not enough! Both of the puddings were also absolutely delicious and the portions were very generous. We ended up having leftovers and everything kept very well the next day.I would not hesitate to order catering again and highly recommend it for the best BBQ in the DMV!

It's always a red flag when the meat is bland when it promises to be spicy and flavorful. I needed to add healing amounts of sauce. But the people were nice.
Be the first to ReplyGood, no frills bbq.
The mustard potato salad surprised me- I don't usually like potato salad, but i had a fair amount! The French fries were great as well. Not shoe string but not steak. Something in between! Brisket and spare ribs were prepared well.Pork belly was ironically very dry and tough yet fatty. We wasted a meat choice on this one. The hot bbq was my jam. I wish I could bottle it up and take it home! $37 for 4 meats and 4 sides is a ridiculously good deal! Thank goodness it's not local because I would stop in a little too often.
Be the first to ReplyHands down best BBQ in DC.
Came here and sampled the brisket, pork belly, ribs, wings, Brussels, and cauliflower. My favorite was a tie between the wings and the pork belly, but really everything was absolutely delicious. The BBQ is high quality, well seasoned, well cooked, and well worth your money. Beyond that the staff is fun and prompt, and the venue (newly renovated) is clean, trendy, and casual with a medium amount of seating available both in and outdoors. This place is truly deserving of its Michelin bib distinction. I will be back to try some of their fun weekly specials. This is a must go for all meat lovers. Also, don't forget to save room Nana's banana pudding, you won't regret it.

BBQ in Adams Morgan DC, really? Federalist Pig was a surprise to me! Only in the South or in some nook and cranny you can get good BBQ, I thought and this one delivers! I was on fence about making the trip here for the yelp elite event on a Monday, March 6 which was a WAH day but because a fellow yelper (Mary-she signed up!) was in town and she's on low carb- I felt compelled. I drove to her place in Arlington then we uber here! Although she did not have a pass, intention was to try out the rave even if we (she) had to pay! Indeed, glad she joined me (I had a pass for signing up sooner) because it definitely got her a fix! She ordered Pork Belly which came out on a small tray and it was tender, silky and very tasty! The Brussels Sprouts (Mary's fav) was nicely well-charred and flavorful! The coleslaw was ok. We did not eat a toast pf bread that came with our paid order, hello, low carb!!!Once I got her well settled with me on a table we shared with 3 other kindly fellas, I then got on the yelp line. With a thong I picked up a chicken wing, pulled pork slider, a queso dip and a handful of chips. It turned out the chicken wing was my fav for it was perfectly cooked, plumped and with a light crisp and very good clean smoky flavor! I opted out of the bread, forked up the pulled pork which was ok. The queso (another fav) was thick with mild but complex heat oozing out of it even despite the chips mildly disappointing me. It was a little dense for my taste but glad I got to taste the decadence of the queso as I scooped it up with this necessary accompaniment! Would I come back? There is a high probability if a BBQ crave necessitate it! Always great to try on new places so much obliged to DC CM Sydney for organizing a successful event! Also nice to see Patina C CM for NOVA helping out - great symbiosis!

It was super quiet at about 2 pm and service was friendly and fast. Great bbq!!

This place is gourmet BBQ! And, as a condiment lover, I am very grateful for their five choices of BBQ sauce and special ranch dressing. We shared a meal for two (three meat choices and four sides). They were all out of the ribs, so we ordered brisket, chicken (recommended by cashier), pork belly, and shredded pork. Other than the brisket that was a little dry and underwhelming, everything was VERY GOOD! The sides - potato salad, mac and cheese, beans and brussel sprouts (dipped in that ranch dressing) rounded out the meal perfectly (beans with the mac and cheese is a great combo!)..The service was very good - the woman who took our order kept coming by to check on us..They added on to the former space, so there is plenty of room to dine indoors and out. They only opened up to indoor dining again in January - first time since 2020! We will definitely be back and will also look to try some of their special sandwiches in Bethesda.

O. M. G. This place is delicious!!! Some how we ended up with a parking spot literally in front of the door. I don't even know how. The bbq, fries, beans, ALL of it is so dang good. Highly recommend.
Be the first to ReplyNow in the DC metro area the BBQ scene is not all that.
This place is just "ok" meat was dry and flavorless. The sauce made up for it. Service was great. When they let you load up on sauce then you are OK with me.

Finally trying this place after hearing a lot of good things about it. Got a large order for delivery via UberEats. Ordered1. 1 lb of brisket - this was a meh, pretty dry and tough. Maybe because the only option is lean when I ordered on Ubereats whereas most people recommend regular. Also it was pretty cold, might be much better hot and fresh at the restaurant?2. 1/2 turkey breast - LOVED this! very tender and moist3. 1/2 lb of pulled pork - liked it. very tender and moist. 4. 4 sides and loved all of them! chipotle green beans, red bliss potato salad, classic slaw, bbq beansWill definitely try it again!

4.2.22We ordered the Sampler Platter, which came with three meats and two sides. We got the brisket (moist), pork spare ribs, and the dry rub chicken. Highly recommend the amazing chicken, which I rate 5 stars. My husband and I loved it so much, he went back to get a whole chicken. We ordered the bbq beans and smoked cheddar mac & cheese. The other two meats and sides were just average to us. The spare ribs was on the dryer side. I would have liked it to be more moist. There is only outdoor seating so not great in the winter or during inclement weather. Also since there is only street parking nearby, we had to circle several times to find a parking space. I would never be able to drive down by myself b/c I can't parallel park to save my life. Lol.
Be the first to ReplyI had the brisket and the rib tips last night.
They tasted fine(?) I was hungry. But at 4:30am... it started. I got food poisoning. The ordeal ended by 10am. But I'm good to never eat here again.
Be the first to ReplyOn a recent business trip to DC I was craving Texas Style
On a recent business trip to DC I was craving Texas Style BBQ so I turned to the internet to find out my options. The Federalist Pig was pretty close to my hotel and the reviews were great so I headed over for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. The restaurant is a kind of "industrial" looking shack which looks great and there is plenty of outdoor seating. I arrived about 45 mins after they opened and was greeted at the door by a server asking if I was picking up a pre-order or placing an order. I was placing an order so I was provided a menu and told to let him know when I was ready. When I came to place my order the young man taking my order seemed very disinterested in engaging with me, never looking directly at me and rushing through my order. I ordered the 3 meat combo and chose Brisket (moist), Turkey Breast and Pork Belly with Mac and Cheese and Green Beans which ran $22.50. The food came out more quickly than I expected and was fairly well presented in the typical BBQ way, on butcher paper on a tray. Now, the food; the sides were both good and flavorful with the Mac & Cheese having a little bit of heat to it. The meats 'though were a little disappointing. The Brisket had good texture but no real flavor at all. There was no smokiness and no pepper kick that you expect from the bark of Texas Style Brisket, it tasted more like roast beef from the flavor stand point. I felt that the turkey was sliced to thickly and again it lacked any smoke flavor or seasoning flavor, but the texture was good and it was not dried out. The Pork Belly probably had the best flavor of the 3 meats that I tried, it didn't have a ton of smoke flavor but I could taste a little bit and the texture was good, it was nice and moist. Overall, I was disappointed and would not come back to eat here as the flavor, in my opinion, is the most important factor in good BBQ and that is where this was really lacking for me.

The guy taking our order really knows his stuff. Gotta have the Brussels sprouts. Most excellent brisket!

Meh...the spot smells pretty good (I've never been somewhere that actually smelled like BBQ potato chips). But overall, it's just not outstanding. If you have a deep desire to scratch that bbq itch it'll do the job, just don't get your hopes up. Service is solid tho.

This place absolutely slaps the staff here is very kind and friendly. Food is perfect and the sauce variety is outstanding. Really a great place all around to enjoy a meal
Be the first to ReplyAMAZING food! Also the servers are so friendly.
There is no seating area in the winter, in the summer there are a few benches outside. The food is so good, the sticky sauce is definitely a favorite, it's kind of spicy but tangy too. Highly recommended!

Ordered from this place multiple times and EVERY SINGLE TIME (Yes, I am not exaggerating) they forget something. Paid $17 for two meats and they forgot all the sides. Paid $65 for just meats because they forgot EVERY SIDE except for the bread. How do they mess up every time?
Be the first to ReplyLooks like authentic southern bbq joint.
Pork ribs were very meaty, Not as spicy as I had expected ย corn was delicious.

Have not been back to this establishment since I wrote my review several years ago. However, I've recently discovered that the person who was abrasive and down right rude to his customers was Willy... Consider this a warning, if you walk in expecting good bbq and Willy is behind the counter, you will be severely disappointed and chances are he may over react at something and throw a tantrum at you.
