Pizza, salad, Italian beef, chips
This is our second dinner at this Emmets; the other Emmets is on Grove Street. We like the pizzas and Italian Beef sandwiches very much. We enjoyed our arugula salad. The food is very good. We chose the chips with the sandwich, and they come out warm, fresh, and crisp. The pizza prices are in line for the neighborhood, but a little high for NYC. The other prices are in line for NYC. Service is good to very good. We’ll go again. TIP Emmets is 11 minutes walk from Toad Hall, a very old school bar with prices lower than usual for the neighborhood. We like that bar for Happy Hour. TIP the Hot Papi features fresh jalapeños. You might find this too hot. A pepperoni and giardiniera combo probably has enough heat for you. TIP the ambience is very basic. You’re here primarily for the food.

Nice brunch on a lazy Sunday. Thin crust Chicago style pizza sausage oregano with mushrooms & spicy giardinera. I enjoyed a lot. Jalapeños in the giardinera gave it quite the kick. I’d opt for caramelized onions instead of giardinera next time on a deep dish pizza. Also curious about their Chicago style Italian beef sandwich. I’ll check out the macdougal location next time.
Be the first to ReplyThe best pizza house in NYC!
It’s my favourite pizza place in NYC. This was my second visit, having previously been in 2018 after it was recommended by numerous friends and it doesn’t disappoint. It’s an extremely cute and quaint restaurant, with a great atmosphere and vibe. Helpful and friendly staff and most importantly, amazing food. The mozzarella sticks and deep dish are a most! Highly recommended

Small and friendly restaurant; the food is sublime and is definitely worth a visit, the portion sizes are big so bare that in mind when ordering.
Be the first to ReplyDeep dish pizza
We had never had deep dish pizza before and sought this place out after a quick Google. Was not disappointed. Thoroughly enjoyed it. We got a 14” with pepperoni and sausage which we split between three of us. It was heavenly
Be the first to ReplyDo better guys
Definitely Not properly stuffed. Thin Crust pretty good but DDP is not rightly made. Toppings are very few and you eat just tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese. Location very nice outside w Empire State Building view. So everything is okay but the DDP. They should do very better. Hope will find my critic positive to do better pizza. By an Italian group
Be the first to ReplyThe rudest General Manager (David) in the service industry. Unacceptable
As a regular here, I am so sorry to say that under David as GM (Grove St), the service has fallen apart as he is so rude. Having come here for great pizza, and generally all is okay, I had a problem once under prior management where the order was brought wrong and all was made okay. A second time, I had a new server who brought the wrong bottle of wine. He didn’t present the wine closely and we didn’t love it but didn’t want to say anything as we thought it was the one we ordered. When the bill arrived we noticed they brought a diff bottle that was only $15 more. We called attention to it and David accused us of waiting to say something (and insinuated we ordered this bottle). I even went as far to show him my Google search history, but he would not apologize and was RUDE and sassy. Use caution if coming here under this terrible management- it may be okay but it may not be. The owner needs to ensure David gets training on customer service!!

Shared the smallest sized deep dish pizza on the menu and it was still too much for the two of us :) We ordered the spinach, peperoni and sausage pizza and it was delicious - very good sausage! Cozy atmosphere, good music, friendly service.

This could be the first post pandemic review? If so then just want to let you know this place is EPIC. Came from England hearing good things, we had 2x deep dish, one cheese louise and one meat based pizza, both delicious. Fries good too. It was my partners bday trip so we got a free drink. Server was excellent. Thanks Emmetts!

I was looking for deep style pizza for my birthday and found this treasure. It’s a very cozy place. We walk in around 3pm a Friday and was not busy. But I’m sure that evenings are very busy, so is better to made reservations. We order the spinach, sausage and pepperoni 10” deep pizza and was delicious! The 10” bring 6 slices and can serve 3 people, with 2 slices you would be full. It was extra cheesy and the garlic flavor crust was amazing. If your hungry is better to order an appetizer because you would wait around 30min for your pizza, even the waitress let you know.
The service was excellent and they treat me for my birthday with a tiny cake with candle over my pizza, very sweet from them. Definitely we would return!!
NYC pizza quest stop
My favorite food is pizza so I decided I would eat one meal of pizza each day I was in town. I found this place after seeing a film at Film Forum (which I also recommend). Everyone raves about the Chicago style but I ordered the thin crust and it was delicious. I would go back
Be the first to ReplyWell Worth the Wait!
My title has two meanings, the first that I have been waiting ages to try Chicago style pizza, but also the pizza itself takes time to cook so plan your meal here accordingly.
We got here a bit early for lunch so it was almost empty, but while we had our meal the place did fill out nicely.
So in reference to waiting, the say on the website if you are ordering a deep dish, it takes roughly 30 minutes, the one we ordered took a bit longer, Ill get to that soon, roughly 45 minutes. We were ok with this because we planned out the time so we weren't dyeing of hunger.
My toddler daughter likes to nibble so when we got in we ordered fries and the arugula salad. Both came in nice serving sizes.
The fries were seasoned really well, nice hint of salt, but not to much. Fried well, crispy outside with a soft interior all packed into thin cut fries.
The salad was really good, nice balance of greens to other ingredients, enough to have a spread in each bite.
Now the PIZZA!
We ordered the THE CHEESE LOUISE in a 12 inch pie. Because of the caramelized cheese on the crust it takes an extra 15 minutes, roughly 45 in total to cook. Like I said we were prepared for this, we waiting on fries and salad, and yes, it was so worth the wait!
The pizza is like and inch tall in the center, and a 2 inch crust. The center is this amazing mix of soft crust, thick layer of nearly liquid mozzarella, and super thick layer of amazing tomato sauce, deff needed a fork and knife for this. The flavors are super well balanced, very fresh and well seasoned.
And that crust with the caramelized cheese, unreal, this becomes an amazing bread stick as you finish it off!
The pie was a six inch, but after the salad and fries we each only had one slice, it was so filling. Later for dinner we warmed it back up in the oven...and it may have been even better, just heavenly. Still super filling and we still have one slice in the fridge!
Hit this place, you will not be disappointed!
When is finally did come
Very nice place, incredible pizza.
I highly recomend this place. Its a very cozzy place with very good pizza. The best chicago style pizza we have had on NY by this time. The service was very good, the waiter was very polite and always atending to what we could need.

Structure is essential to any successful expedition into the chaos of Manhattan. It's concrete causeways and iconic landmarks demand, and quite rightly deserve, hours of painstaking planning to ensure you make the most of your visit. Organisational capabilities aside, when it comes to food the city offers an overwhelming selection of eateries to fuel the miles you will inevitably cover on foot. The brisk nature of an activity packed trip to the city can often lead to smaller places being overlooked by would be satisfied patrons. Whether it's family, friends or fiancés, Emmett's is one restuaraunt that should not be missed,
On our visit we were lucky enough to be seated straight away. The staff were friendly and answered any questions we had prior to ordering. The drinks were cold, the atmosphere was genuine creating a delightful environment in which we were happy to wait on our pizza whilst it was prepared. Our reasonably priced medium deep dish was crafted perfectly, looked outstanding and was full of flavour providing us with a fantasic dining experience and one that we will happily repeat on our next trip to the city.
In a city often praised for it's pizza capabilities, this "out of town" inspired gem stands out from the crowd.
Solid Deep Dish
The place is really small so when you factor in that a deep dish pizza takes at least 45 minutes to bake, people are not getting in and out of there quickly. So, our pizza was actually done before there was room to seat us. We took it back to our hotel room to eat. The pizza itself was pretty good. We got a simple cheese deep dish. The disappointment, however, was in the crust. It was just OK. The pizza itself is solid if you are craving Chicago deep dish. It just wasn’t worth the $30 cab ride to get there and then we weren’t able to sit at a table when it was at its best.
Be the first to ReplySimply Fantastic!
My daughter and I found this little gem of a restaurant while wandering down Macdougal Street and took a chance by walking in blindly....not disappointed! While there is minimal seating inside it is definitely worth the wait for a table or to even sit at the bar. The menu is decent sized with options ranging from fresh cut fries to Emmett’s deep dish pizza which is what they are known for! I’m out case, we were on a time crunch and they do ask that you give them 30 minutes if ordering a pizza to give them adequate preparation time. Based on the pizzas we saw coming out of the kitchen I’d say it would be worth the wait! We chose grilled cheese sandwiches, an order of fresh cut fries (note the grilled cheese came with fries but we wanted additional!), and mozzarella sticks as an appetizer. All fabulous! Service was prompt despite every table being full! We will define it be back to try that pizza the next time!
Be the first to ReplyAmazinngg Pizza, lovely staff, brilliant place!!
We had read up on this place before we came to New York and were both extremely excited to visit (being massive pizza lovers)
When we came in the staff were really friendly, the waiter could not do enough for us, a really lovely guy.
... the pizza ... we’ve always loved ourselves a thin crust pizza and thought we wouldn’t deviate but this pizza was amazing
Totally lived up to expectations if not exceeded them.
Will definitely be returning!!!!
