I like this space.
It's got a great atmosphere and energy. The waits are always long, but the staff is honest and they are funny if you're close to the front where the microphone is. They have this awesome candy counter that has some great vintage candies. The serving sizes are large and enough to take home if you're not super hungry. The staff was so sweet and accommodating to my god-daughter and her baby cousin. They were kind and sweet, even gave them little drink umbrellas to keep them occupied during the wait. Like I said, the waits are long, but they're totally worth it. Don't be rude or mad that the wait is long, just prepared.

One of my favorite diners in chicago! Their soup and French toast are so good!! Great spot to dine in and great service but I also routinely get delivery from doordash for lunch and it's equally as good!!

What a great place to have a delicious meal! From the moment my family and I stepped into the restaurant, we loved our experience. We were greeted by the owner/mgr who made us feel like family. Love the atmosphere - so many things to look at and the music playlist was so much fun! Our server picked our meals and they were delicious; my favorites were the potato latkes, the challah French toast, Bubbie's matzoh ball soup and the melt in your mouth corned beef. I rolled myself to the door (never happily ate so much), only to be sidetracked by the nostalgic candy shop area. Love! Worth the wait and the calories!
Be the first to ReplyBusy diner near Roosevelt station.
Walking distance from museums. Portions are enormous so only go if you are hungry. Good food, very fresh, legit Jewish deli items. Expect a wait on weekends.
Be the first to ReplyHorrible service! I was hungry but all alone.
They were empty and could have given me a nice seat - but chose not to. I complained and they didn't care. I walked out. Their low rating is deserved
Be the first to Replywalked in and asked for a table.
told we could sit at the bar now or wait 10-15. we decided to wait and took a little walk. want to say that there were 3 empty tables in the front with a reserved sign on them. we came back in ten minutes and again was offered the bar right away plus there was one table in the center of the entrance essentially. a 4-top came in and they were given the 10-15 minute notice. after about 5 minutes they were sat at one of the empty tables in front that had been vacant for about 15-20 minutes. a couple seats at the bar, that i could sit at, opened up and we were sat. ordered a bloody mary and the server rattled off 3 vodkas and we chose one. the bm was 13 dollars but unbeknownst to us, there was a 2 dollar charge for the vodka we chose. no one said a word. the food was better than okay but not anything special. we ordered the rueben and the avocado turkey club. like i said, it was okay. check came and we paid, we tipped using the offered 20% choice on the servers machine. our check was $75 and the added tip showed over $20 dollars. now its been a while since i was in school but 20% of $75 is not 20 dollars, its $15 dollars. we spoke to the manager who adjusted the tip amount but did not remove the $4 extra for the two bloody mary drinks that we ordered and charged an extra $2 per drink without two servers mentioning an up charge. pay attention to your check if you go there. and choose the customer tip option if you use the machine.

Busy place but staff was very attentive and polite, Great experience overall, big portions plates. My sandwich was recommended by our server, which by the way she rock! Absolutely made my experience outstanding! Thank you Alexis! Highly recommended.
Be the first to ReplyGreat diner vibes, good food and energy.
We came at 12pm on Sunday and had to wait 30 minutes which wasn't too bad. Menu is extensive and portions are massive. I ended up ordering a side of hash with a side of egg on top, and it was perfect. Would love to try one of their sandwiches next time.

ok food - but nothing spectacular to justify their very, very, proud prices. Open face ruben sandwich very light on the cornbeef - maybe 3oz - stacked on two pieces of bread so it looks like you are actually getting a decent sandwich, but you are not. add in a pickle, coleslaw and root beer and your at $32 for lunch. Live in the neighborhood and this experience reminded me why I haven't eaten there in ages. I get costs have risen, but they also tack on a 3% service charge and expect a 20% tip.

Honestly, it may not be the exact cuisine you think of when you think of Chicago, but if I could go back to another restaurant for another meal out of everything I tried in Chicago it would be Eleven City Diner. I found this restaurant was close to my hotel and wanted a good breakfast before my conference and this place hit it out of the park. I LOVED the ambience. It was such an old-school diner vibe. This Bad A#@ Breakfast Sandwich was so and delicious. It comes With two fluffy eggs, your choice of two meats. (one of them needs to be the hash!!) aged Wisconsin cheddar sauce, and jalapeños, on a challah twist bun!! I'm just glad I was sharing it. Also, the house potatoes were unexpectedly better than other similar potatoes I've had in the past. Maybe it's because they are deep-fried! The reason I would love to go back is because in addition to the diner, they have an old-school candy shop and a full deli. Honestly, their pastrami sandwiches piled high had me thinking I might need to order one even for breakfast. Make sure to check them out.

The first place we visited upon arriving in Chicago for the first time ever, and it didn't disappoint! They attended to us quickly and were very kind throughout our time here. The food was pretty good and arrived promptly at our table. The portions were great and everything tasted fresh. With such a huge menu, you're bound to find something you like. While the place itself was nice, what truly made our experience unforgettable was the service. It was amazing, and our server was friendly, making sure we felt welcomed. We even engaged in a conversation, and he's actually pretty cool! We'll definitely come back when we visit Chicago again!
Be the first to ReplyCrazy busy and fun breakfast/brunch spot.
Interesting menu with lots of options. Upstairs seemed less crowed. Good service.
Be the first to ReplyThe worst customer policy ever.
Customer care and customer service is a joke. Customers are indeed NOT welcomed. The owner should consider reviewing his no joining policy that is not only unfriendly, but also very stupid. To avoid.
Be the first to ReplyLove the diner style interior of this place.
The breakfast gets smaller every time but the service, quite efficient. I've had a teeny bite of their decadent chocolate cake once off of my friend's and it s to die for. Street parking of course!
Be the first to ReplySuch a fun environment.
Food is amazing. Service is impeccable. Definitely recommend a visit!
Be the first to ReplyWhat a fantastic spot for brunch, breakfast, or lunch!
What a fantastic spot for brunch, breakfast, or lunch! Despite passing by numerous times, I finally decided to step inside after my walk today, and I'm so glad I did. Upon entering, we were greeted by lively music and charming 50s/60s decor. The addition of a vintage candy shop was a delightful touch. After a brief seven-minute wait, we were seated, and our waiter promptly attended to us. He patiently explained the menu, which I always appreciate when dining somewhere new. I opted for the veggie Reuben sandwich, their vegan take on the classic, accompanied by fries and a frozen pink lemonade. The sandwich was incredibly filling, packed with flavorful portobello mushrooms, peppers, sauerkraut,Swiss cheese, spinach, and topped with tomato and avocado. I could only finish half, so I'm looking forward to enjoying the rest later. The fries were equally delicious. My friend enjoyed her turkey sandwich and strawberry milkshake. I appreciated that they ensured we received all of our milkshakes, even the leftover ones. I'll definitely be returning for breakfast or brunch, especially since they offer vegan and vegetarian options. Overall, a memorable dining experience that I highly recommend.

OVERALL: Eleven City Diner is a solid option for brunch/diner food with great atmosphere and great service!--------------------------The ambiance gives the restaurant a modern and elevated feel to a typical diner. There's a wide array of breakfast and lunch options with breakfast food being served all day. You should expect to spend about $20-30 per person, but food portions feel large. When we went, we ordered typical breakfast food which was average. Service was good and manager seemed involved in making sure the customers were cared for.
Be the first to ReplyMenu was a bit overwhelming but what we ordered was great.
Got a patty melt on gluten free bread. Huge for the boys. Lattes were average at best. A throw back in time; classic menu that doesn't have anything special but is just done well.

We enjoyed a great breakfast at Eleven City! Our wait staff was excellent and made sure our entire family was welcome and well taken care of during our visit! We will be back when we visit Chicago again!
Be the first to ReplyEleven Diner still has that same old Chicago style
Eleven Diner still has that same old Chicago style atmosphere with deep booth seats, soda fountains, and lots of cheer. Until your party is all present, they do not start you on the wait list. For parking, there are free parking on 13th and 14th & State St. if there is no event at Soldier Field which is convenient. Our waitress is cheerful. We asked for hot water instead of the typical cold water, she asked if we would like lemon in it. She doesn't show disdain that I sometimes see on other wait staff because I asked for something out of the norm, but does not cost the establishment anything more than regular tap water. This is no place to count calories, but definitely delicious. The pastrami corned beef hash bowl is very filling with a lot of crunchy fried potatoes at the bottom. The Rueben, they specialty was totally worth the visit. The Eleven French Toast with strawberry, banana, and friend coconut bites came with 3 large pieces of French Toast. I saw Junior's Cheesecake on the couldn't resist ordering one to go. It is rich and creamy. Sometimes, I see it sold at Costco, but otherwise have to go to New York for it or order from online. Expect the price to be higher than most diners.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and service.
Loved the atmosphere, but was a bit noisy. Had the Turkey Reuben and it was so yummy. The salad we had was good, but didn't have the snap peas on it
Be the first to ReplyI waited 30 minutes for 6 bagels and cream cheese.
..I just don't understand. And I was the only to go order waiting. Definitely not coming back.
