Now that's a matzah ball
Cool atmosphere and very generous servings of delicious food! I tried the matzah ball soup and the matzah ball was literally the size of a softball! Others had giant sandwiches that were amazing. A little noisy but worth it for the food.

It was an excellent place for brunch! The staff was helpful and took their time, even though the place was quite full. Everything we had was fresh and tasty. It was also one of the cleanest places we saw in our few days in Chicago. It's well worth the visit, especially if you like the traditional diner atmosphere.
Be the first to ReplyPerhaps they have wonderful food but my experience with telephone service is lacking.
Tried four times to buy gift card online as I live in San Diegoโฆ Finally called the restaurant and was told well weโre not having any problems so youโll just have to come in to buy one. After calling my bank to ensure that there was not a problem with the card, I went on another restaurant website and bought one with no issues. There was no apology no offer to buy certificate online, no offer to investigateโฆ Nothingโฆ while Michelin stars do indicate the presence of a wonderful chef, thereโs more to customer service than just that.

Arrived around 1pm (Wednesday during Spring Break) and only had to wait about 20 minutes for a table. Atmosphere is great. We had to wait a bit for service once seated, but they were busy, so it was understandable. It went downhill from there. The type of food they sell should not take long to prepare/serve, but we waited over 30 minutes for a bowl of matzo ball soup (which was served with a TEASPOON). And another 15 minutes for the rest of our food. The server did notice we were waiting a long time and checked on our ticket - food came out five minutes after this. Aside from a quick apology, zero accommodations were made for their mess up. I have worked in resturants for many years and do expect restaurants to offer something in these instances. We also just wanted to eat and get out of there to enjoy the rest of our day in Chicago, so I didn't push it with management or anything, but did find it disappointing for how much you're spending there. The food was also just so-so. As mentioned above, the mazto ball soup was served with a metal teaspoon. Another soup at our table was served with a plastic soup spoon. Please invest in metal soup spoons when soup is a highlighted item on your menu.

This was our first dining experience in Chicago and it raised the bar high for others! It was worth the wait we only waited about 30 minutes and staff were so pleasant, we did not mind. I had the Reuben which was just bursting with pastrami. I loved it! Fries were great too as was the burger my friend had! Although I was full to the hills, I had to taste the hot fudge sundae, which was sublime!

Our family of 4 visited on 12/28 around 1pm. The restaurant was very busy with a wait of about 45 minutes. Great diner atmosphere with a deli up front and old school candy for purchase. The food was delicious and the portions did not disappoint. I would highly recommend the root beer float or chocolate shake!
Be the first to ReplyGood food, good service, rude doorman
This was our second time here. Both times were before Bears games when they are very busy. We had to wait quite a while to get a table, and I must say that the guy at the door was very rude. Fortunately the waitress was not and the food was very good.

A place worth knowing in Chicago! I recommend making a reservation because we waited 45 minutes to have a table.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing old-school atmosphere
Fantastic old-school atmosphere diner. Very, very amicable service and top-notch food. I haven't got the chance to try their famous breakfast though, the line was too long in the morning...

I had a Turkey pastrami with roasted vegetables and it was out of this world! My husband and I shared the onion mountain and it was definitely more than we could finish. One of my favorite comfort food restaurants!
Be the first to ReplyBest sandwiches ever.
I think this was the best sandwich I've ever had in my entire life. We got both the corned beef and the beef/salami. Amazing. Wouldn't recommend thr latkes but would dine here 10 times over for the sandwiches. Can't say enough.
Be the first to ReplyThe BEST PLACE EVER!!!!!

OUR FAVORITE PLACE IN CHICAGO!!!!!!!!
Iโll travel the 60 minutes for the Zenith!
The minute you walk in, you are greeted with a hello, and the diner atmosphere with all the deli meats and ice cream shoppe features. The place was crowded with a line waiting. I enjoyed the 3 egg sausage omelette with crispy potatoes. My wife loved her โZenithโ corned beef and pastrami. We have found โthe placeโ to go! If you want to impress anyone, have them try to beat this place! The staff goes above catering to your every whim. Canโt wait for another trip to Chicago.
Be the first to ReplyGreat deli food
Found a great deli location in Chicago. The corn beef and pastrami were extremely tender and flavorful. Just what we were looking for in a deli. Pleasantly surprised by the mac and cheese which you donโt normally see on deli menu. Creamy goodness with nice crunchy and crispy topping of melted cheese mixed with small amount of bread crumbs.
Sandwiches were generous with house made meat
Gotta to go again next time I am in Chicago to try the soups and shakes
Discrimination
I had the worst experience while picking up an order for Door Dash from there. I asked to use the restroom and got the ok from a young lady but as I continued to walk towards the back, i was stopped by the white guy that sounds gay telling me that i could not. I told him I was Dashing and he asked to see the order while crowding me, ro prevent me from going. I showed him the order and he was still crowding me so much that when I continued to walk to the restroom, i stepped on his toes and moved my arms up and around him to not touch him. He said I pushed him and ran to get in front of me to put me out. I told him he was lying and he responded with,"I was trying ro see if the bathroom was clean enough for someone like you." The manager told me to leave without hearing me out or looking into it. He didn't look at the tape or listen to me. So i had ro repeatedly yell for them to give me my hot bag to go. I am a black woman and identify as lesbian. So clearly were not welcomed
Be the first to ReplyI'd go to Chicago just to eat here
This classic diner offers outstanding food in a lively atmosphere. I enjoyed challah french toast topped with fruit and toasted coconut, plus a side of perfectly crisped and seasoned breakfast potatoes. Their staff made me feel special and like I was part of the family. I recommend standing in line for when they open at 8:30, because this place is justifiably popular. My only regret is that I won't be able to return today for a second meal. My favorite meal in Chicago to date!
Be the first to ReplyItโs ok but not worth an hourโs wait in line.
Very busy and crowded but staff is very friendly. Huge portions. I ordered tuna melt. Would have been good if it had been warm. Inside was ice cold. I think that the cheese on top melted before the scoops of tuna could get warm. Food was good and plates ordered around me looked good and huge. But huge doesnโt make up for average taste. I donโt think I would stand in line for a meal there again.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing Nostalgia Experience!
Second time back and a better experience. The waiter was very customer friendly and helpful. His smile radiated throughout my communication with him. The burger, fries and rootbeer float were amazing. I had a chance to sit at the counter to eat. Boy, it brought back memories of long ago when diners were more common.

Good food for recovering from a long night. Nice environment and very good food. The service was good as we sat at the counter. Very good bloody mary's fresh made and not out pre mixed.
