Not worth it
Had sushi at two different sushi places today. The sushi restaurant with no ambience (but clean) was waaaay better than this upscale overpriced sushi spot. I paid $15 for 3 huge rolls at the first place. This place - $33 for a total of 12 pieces. Ridiculous. And they were way tinier than traditional rolls I’ve had. I got one sake. And one order of pork gyoza as well. 5 pieces. Bill came to $64. Don’t come here if you’re really hungry or you will leave broke. Also a few of the pieces of the California roll had an odd grainy taste. Will not be back. Not worth it.

My go to in Philly. Fun, a bit quirky, great food and drinks and located on a fun stretch. Small plates and sushi provide for delicious experience.

Always happy to return here when I'm in Philly. We had: lazy chicken bao, pan-fried but light with a slight kick edamame dumplings with truffle oil salmon and yellowtail sashimi, both excellent enoki bacon brussels sprouts, light and crunchy, not oily black cod fried rice (nice but could probably use a little more seasoning) rib eye scallion maitaki mushroom Most were very tasty and worth revisiting.

After passing the unprofessional hostess, it was a very good experience, the food was excellent the waitress was kind and professional. If the hostess tries to suggest a table at the entrance level, do not agree, the atmosphere in the lower level is much better.

What an amazing place. Dinner was delish! Everything we tried we loved. Ambiance was perfect and our service was top notch. Do yourself a favor and save a little room for dessert. This was our first time but already planning a girls night here next! Perfect dinner to start my birthday weekend!

There were 4 of us in our party, and the 4th was stuck in traffic trying to park the car on a rainy and busy night. The hostess refused to seat us until the 4th person was physically present, and even threatened to give away our table. It was a birthday celebration, and this really put a damper on it. We did not understand why we could not be seated to start ordering so that when the 4th was able to park and join us, things would be ready-we had theater tix, so time was of the essence. I understand protocols and procedures, but there should be exceptions for realistic situations that cannot be avoided. Managers failed to remedy the situation- it was another hostess that in the end seated us before the 4th in the party arrived. And to add insult to the situation, there were 2 empty tables next to us that remained empty for the entire time we were there. We were offered no apologies or anything else for the 45 minute inconvenience. Service after that was just as incompetent.

We just had the best dinner! We got the chefs tasting menu and we let the chef pick most of the courses. We loved the double knot sushi, yellowtail, Japanese scallops, tuna rice cracker, sea bass and mochi. Wow, so good! And superb service as well.

AN ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE OF HORRIBLE SERVICE. AVOID AT ALL COSTS KABUKI SUSHI & AKI NOM NOM WHICH IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER WILL GIVE YOU BETTER SUSHI AND SERVICE!!! I am a neighbor of Double Knot I literally live one block away and frequently visited the restaurant for years. I went in for a late dinner and was given the most horrid service ever. Not to mention I have a large amount of friends that live in the neighborhood that has concurred that the level of service, food & all around experience has tremendously declined recently with the new attitudes of the hosts. By the names of Lori (downstairs) & Chloe (also downstairs).They may gave me fake names, I'm not sure. Myself as well as many others will not be returning because of the level of service and terrible attitudes. Especially from the two mentioned above. This is exactly what happened on December 24th at a reservation time of 7:45pm EST. My guest and I went downstairs to dine of which we had reservations. Once downstairs we were given seating that was extremely too close to others (People concerned about Covid, you'd like to stay very very far away from this place). We simply asked to be sat at a different table. The host at the time (Lori short round) said " those are four tops and they're not available" meanwhile their were several couples in the restaurant eating at 4 tops at this time right in front of our eyes. I asked her again and she started getting frustrated with my guest and I. She then walks past us and takes yet another party of only two to a four top!!! I then stated the other host (Clhoe tall frail) "Hey I just asked for that seat & that's only a party of two as well at a four top!" She then sighed and rolled eyes and proceeded to converse with the other host (Lori). Chloe then came back to my guest and I and told us that Lori (the other host) told her that she didn't know what we were talking about and that she didn't see it when we asked her initially. Which is absolutely absurd because if the owner were to look at the security cameras, he would see us pointing directly at the table she sat the other TWO-PERSON party at! Chloe then said "follow me".. clearly now she's flustered and tired of conversing with me, so she sat my guest and I down because out of nowhere "a guest cancelled". Which was total BS.... I then said, "Thank you, can I --" (At this time Chloe interrupts me mid-sentence and says " Yeah if you'r about to ask me for a manager, I AM THE MANAGER!!" -Extremely rude! After sitting for what felt like eons for a server to come over to take our order, we then went back upstairs. We were serviced by a gentleman named Danny who really was a complete gem. He was attentive, pleasant & an absolute delight to have serving our meal. In conclusion, if you like horrid service, attitudes, blatant disregards to your reservations, a Covid Epicenter, condescending hosts/managers & favoritism, come to this terrible excuse of a neighborhood establishment. If you'd like better options, try Morimoto, Aki NomNom or Kabuki.

We had drinks here while waiting for our AlpenRose reservation. Our server was super nice. The drinks were very good as well.

Double Knot puts out some of the best Japanese style food I've had in awhile. The restaurant is small and very dimly lit. That is a problem while trying to figure out what you'd like to order. Numerous people were using cell phones to read the menu, our group included. That to me is disturbing. Aside from that the food was pretty good. We had so many entrees it was hard to pick our best. For me it was the Tuna Tartare. Some portions are quite small so ordering many plates seems to be the thing to do. Not being able to get a reservation prior to 10 PM on a Saturday night kinda tells you what kind of business they have as all the tables were occupied. Lilly our server was a hoot, she was fun and very helpful.

We did the chef tasting menu for a birthday and it was amazing! I forgot what some of the dishes were, but everything was delicious! I really enjoyed all the food and the service was awesome! Lily was super nice to us! They gave us the best spot in the house and we really enjoyed ourselves! We definitely would come back for more!

I took a group of important friends to this restaurant. It was one of the worst experiences I had. The manager, who obviously does not belong to hospitality sector, and the hostess would not add a single chair to our table to accommodate a friend who had decided to join us and surprise us. They had numerous empty chairs!! They were arrogant and inhospitable. We ended leaving the place and going across the way to another (and much better) resturant. This was my third time in the restaurant and each time the service has been getting worse. I highly recommend you think of much better sushi places in the city. The place is dark, dingy, expensive and obviously with terrible management. Never going there again.
