Don Peppe's is and old stand-by.
A place that never misses, The food is great, so are the staff members, they have a great Home Made wine that is excellent and priced right. It's located off of the Belt Parkway, between Brooklyn, and Queens. Go if you get the chance.

Cash only. $$$$ Service is..... meh. Polite enough. Depends who's waiting your table. They take the whole order of the table all at once as I was told. I really love their food. We even had our wedding reception there many many years ago. $30 for 12 baked clams. $32 for the pasta with white clam sauce. Anything lemon butter is delicious. Zuppa di mussels. Come here for the food not service. Food is always consistently good.

Highly recommend this place for a terrific meal!
Be the first to ReplyThe food is decent nothing fantastic but definitely not
The food is decent nothing fantastic but definitely not bad, but I also have had better. CASH ONLY. No menu, there's a big board on the wall to which the servers point at when they come ask u for what u want. They expect you know what u want by the time they greet u, and if ur not ready they walk away like you said something horrible. Definitely overpriced, I don't mind paying overpriced when it's worth it. But if the food is good but the service is horrible, you feel rushed out once they feel like ur almost done also it's not even nice inside, looks like an old hall with tables and chairs.I will definitely not come back here if I'm paying, and I won't recommend to anyone I know.

You wouldn't leave hungry. It's family style so go with a group.
Be the first to ReplyHuge place but really comfortable and enjoyable.
Food is good. Best place near JFK. Everything is family style and it seems like a really fun place to visit with a group. Recommend for the atmosphere alone.

Menu on the back wall. Friendly efficient servers. Food served family style. Our table of 8 had steak pizzaole, shrimp Luciano over linguine, stuffed mushrooms baked clams and more. Steak was excellent but the rest was just good (not great). Local homemade wine was excellent. Cash only!
Be the first to ReplyQuintessential NYC Italian restaurant.
It is definitely a bit off the beaten path. Parking isn't great in the area but you might be able to find something a block or two away from the restaurant. Wine was house wine, no beer or hard liquor. Portion sizes were big and food was tasty.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing- as authentic as it comes.
I highly suggest for anyone flying through JFK. Eggplant parmigiana was amazing-
Be the first to ReplyThis place is fantastic.
There was a warm and friendly welcome at the door then the waiter, Jean-Luca, provided great service and was friendly. The atmosphere was fantastic. There's a real nice buzz going on there. The food was fantastic. Seriously a great place to go.
Be the first to ReplyVery mediocre experience here.
Like others have mentioned the waitstaff treat you like you are inconveniencing them. There appears to be a lot of regulars that dine here where they treat them better and are more friendly. We ordered the clam linguine and chicken marsala both of which were underwhelming. The best thing was probably the red house wine. It is also pretty pricey where both dish was about $30. Due to the overall experience and food just being ok, we will not be returning.

Excellent food and great staffReminds me of the old days Parking is a little hard sometimes but is shouldn't deter you from going there
Be the first to ReplyThe food is amazing.
The staff can be a little brusque but worth it for the baked clams alone.

I have zero photos for this place because I was having lunch with my partner's family and didn't want to be embarrassing LOLOL but omg this was definitely one of my favorite restaurants while in NY! Nothing like a long time family owned Italian restaurant. I think this was the epitome of NY dining for me :) Don peppe doesn't take reservations, is cash only, and is a no menu spot, you order from the wall, and yet they are still absolutely killing it! Everything we ordered was delicious and I'm a little mad at myself for not pacing myself, even though everyone told me to, because by the time I got the the entrees I was already so full. Here are the things we ordered and shared (cos it's family style here!):- salad - I'm not a salad gal but they make a damn good salad here, sweetest tomatos and peppers and the dressing is divine - bread - idk how but even their plain complimentary bread was delicious lol- grilled peppers - I don't usually like peppers at all but these were the most delicious sweetest peppers I have ever eaten, im gonna be so sad looking for something comparable in California - stuffed mushrooms - the only thing that I would say was average but maybe because I'm just not the biggest fan of stuffed mushrooms- baked clams - BEST CLAMS EVER. I never had baked clams before but this has officially become my favorite way to eat clams. Huge clams first of all, with amazing breading on top. The sauce is *muah- artichoke - my first time eating an artichoke whole and it was yummy! I definitely made a mess though and pretty sure I missed a lot of meaty pieces- clam linguine - massive portion, a ton of clams on top, absolute perfection - don peppe veal - perfectly fried veal with a bruschetta tomato mix on top, wish I wasn't so full already because I would've loved more of that! Pretty sure I'm forgetting a couple of dishes but I can say confidently they were probably delicious too. Can't wait to come back here, for now I have a t shirt from them that I will wear to remember the amazing food.

The linguine and clam sauce is out of this world! We usually do this and a chopped salad. Both are great!
Be the first to ReplyAwesome little old school Italian restaurant.
From the minute we sat down we felt like we stepped back in time, which isn't a bad thing. Our waiter was friendly, attentive, and an all-around good dude. The baked clams were delicious and the linguine and clams was also good, but the BIG hits were the Don Peppe Salad and the Veal Don Peppe. Seriously, it might've been the best salad I've ever had...Couple of quick watch-outs... it's cash only, and there's only one menu and it's on the wall. So bring your glasses/be prepared to get up.
Be the first to ReplyNo matter what you select you won't be disappointed.
Shrimp Luciano over linguine is my favorite- no other restaurant even comes close. Bit pricey but food is worth the visit.

If you're looking for Italian food in Queens you can do no better than Don Pepe. Literally 5 minutes from JFK airport. Place has been here for over 50 yrs. Bring your appetite and your wallet. It's a little pricey but the portions are huge. Recommended..baked clams, chicken bruschetta, spaghetti and clam sauce and the bracciola. The house wine is super tasty. The restaurant is cash only and does require proof of vaccination to be seated.
Be the first to ReplyGood Italian.
And by good, better than the usual spots. Simple food done right. The tomahawk steak came out medium instead of med rare which irked me for over $200. Next time, sticking with the veal don pep. Three guys, $175 each, yeesh. Don Pep salad, baked clams, shrimp LucianoLinguine clamTomahawk steak Ice cream / coffees
